Hello,
Mostly when on WiFi I find that a Web page or app will start to load and then just stop. Only way to get data connectivity back is to toggle airplane mode on and off. Have tried multiple WiFi networks and multiple browsers. Happens probably 80/20 more frequently on WiFi than cellular data.
Any ideas?

Factory Reset?
Update, did a factory reset, no help. So after a few days of testing I have managed to trace the problem down to 5ghz WiFi only. Mobile data and 2.4ghz seem to be working since reset.
Anyone got a similar experience?

Just come back from a holiday abroad where I used my DHD for wifi use whilst in airplane mode. Since returning home my phone can't pick up my home wifi signal. The router is working correctly as I can connect using both a PC and laptop however the phone doesn't register a signal. I have restarted my phone, forgotten the saved wifi connections, reset the router and still nothing
Any suggestions or further info you need??
does your phone find your router when you go into wifi settings and click scan?

No doesn't find any signal. No settings should have changed whilst I was away.
Go to WiFi settings and use the static IP and see if it works.
A bump with a little more info.
Still nothing with wifi at home. But tried my phone at the office of my new job and low and behold managed to pick up a few wireless signals. Although didnt have time to try connect to them.
Did you install any app that may conflict with WiFi?
Not that i'm aware of but is there a way to check dates installed?

Hey All, there are a lot of threads and various internet discussions for various SIII wifi problems, but I have yet to find anything that addresses my current issue:
My phone detects wifi networks that it has not connected to before, but once I have successfully connected to a wifi network and subsequently lost that connection, I can never see that wifi network again. I have tried it with a couple different networks, including a wifi hotspot created by my iphone, and it always happens. My wifi will still show networks that I have not connected to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The phone is not rooted and is using the stock Rogers firmware.
Thanks!

has this always been happening or did this come about after your last OTA firmware update?

This hasn't always been happening... I have had the phone for a few weeks now and it started after I arrived at my company apartment in Spain last week.

your S3 might have wifi power save on
try this
1. Open up the Galaxy*S3*phone dialer
2. Dial *#0011# to enter service mode
3. Press the menu button and select “WiFi”
4. You should see that the “WiFi Power Save Mode” button is “ON”
5. Press it to turn power save “OFF”

if it doesn't work, try factory reset (also wipe cache and data)

My guess: The router is the problem. Or the router's settings. Not your phone itself.
You can test your Wifi by either connecting to another router or to someone's wifi tethering.

I get this problem on various devices occasionally. Sometimes it helps when I remove the network from memory and reconnect to it.
Ie. Click "Forget this network" and then rejoin it. Doesn't always help though.
You can unplug the router for few seconds then plug it back in to see if that works.

I mostly work from home and use my Wi-Fi there, but, about 50% percent of the time, when I leave the house I’ll have a cell signal, but no LTE or whatnot—mobile data doesn’t work. The only way to fix this is to reboot the phone—enabling/disabling Airplane mode doesn’t resolve the issue.
Anyone else have this problem? I found a similar thread at https://www.reddit.com/r/nexus5x/comments/3qyabc/no_mobile_data_after_leaving_home_and_loosing_wifi/, but I don’t have an account there and was curious to see the response form this forum. For what it’s worth, I use T-Mobile..
Someone mentioned forgetting their WiFi network and adding it again manually fixed the issue for them, did you try that?

No—I didn’t know that was a possible fix. I’ll give it a try and report back. Thanks.

Having the same problem. I'll show full bars (but no LTE indicator) and every app complains of no connectivity. Enabling/disabling Airplane mode does work for me, but I have to wait about 30 seconds for the phone to re-register with the cell network (T-Mobile) to get my data working again.

When there is full signal and there is no LTE/4G indicator, then phone still thinks it is still connected to Wi-Fi. I have not had this issue...

While this might be true, there is no Wi-Fi icon/the phone does not appear to be connect to Wi-Fi when this issue occurs.
Resetting the network settings did resolve the issue—and I found out this was due to the APN protocol setting. Due to some SIP issues I was having, I changed this from the default IPv6 to IPv4 and, it appears, this caused this issue—though I have no idea why. Resetting causes IPv6 to be the default again and the issue doesn’t happen when this is the case (but I still have some SIP issues). I have since switched this to IPv4/IPv6 and I haven’t had the issue in a week—and this also resolves my SIP issues.
Hope this helps someone. Cheers.
Hi everyone,
I have now my OnePlus 3 for 3 weeks and I have noticed that when I'm long in my WiFi network and than I go out of my Wifi (Disconnect). And than it don't Connect to Mobile Network for data. And yes mobile data are aktivatet, the settings shows that the Data Service is off. But this is only so when I'm long in WiFi if I'm only for 20 minutes than it Connect to Mobile Data.

No APN reset don't work. Get Disconnect from Mobile Data Service. But I see that the settings says when it is connected Network Type EDGE. But if it gets Disconnected then it says GSM
Edit: Attached ScreenShots
Go to developer options and turn on "cellular data always active". I use that on my phone and it picks up the cell signal almost instantly when out of WiFi range. I am still getting about 5 hrs SOT. ,
Okay i think this is gonna work, instand Switch to Mobile Data. And what to you mean with SOT @calbrs
Today i downloadet the system Update 3.2.2 and I think this bug is patched with this update . Actually no issues with the Mobile Data connection
EDIT: NO DONT work same issue

I have exactly the same issue with my OP3 OOS 3.2.2, no root. It is really annoying
Me too, it isn't handling the switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi very well, not sure whether it's just one way, when i get to work and connect to work Wi-Fi I've ended up having to turn off mobile data to get it to use the Wi-Fi connection.

It is two way. That's my observation. I am very disappointed from the phone which has such problems with basic thing like wi-fi connection. I think this will be my first and last OP phone!
So has anyone found a solution to this issue? What kind of flagship killer has problems with such basic functionality?
I've read on other forums that some devices have a feature called Smart Network Switch, but I can't find that anywhere.
And I really don't think it's the APN...I've modified it in all possible ways and it's still happening...not switching automatically but starts working after switching to airplane mode and back. And the "aggressive" switch option doesn't work either.
If anyone has any idea about how to fix this or how it can be further investigated, please share, it's becoming really annoying. Thanks!

I activated the Mobile Data on in the Developer Options and for me it works pretty well.
The IPv4/IPv6 solution seemed to work. I still have issues when connecting to the wireless network (company wifi, with login credentials and the whole deal) but I used to have the same issue with my Nexus 5, meaning that I have to be disconnected from the mobile data to access the wifi network's login page (forgot to mention this in my previous post). Anyway, I'm happy that I don't have to switch to airplane mode anymore Thanks everyone!
I have a strange issue with the 5G NE, when I leave the house it of course disconnects from the WiFi because it's out of range. But the phone turns off WiFi al together. So when I get back home I have to manually turn on WiFi again. Then when it connects, it keeps working. Anyone else has this issue or know how to fix. Allready turned off the WiFi assistent, didn't help.
In the past there was an auto turn of WiFi in the Advanced WiFi settings, but that menu is not even in the build.
I am on the latets European build.

Yeah, it is frustrating to have this issue, I had it on my old K20 pro. Reset the settings and give it a try or else reset the whole device.

Hi, did it something or find any solution because my GF has the same problem with her phone.. and more people have the same issue but no solutions anywhere?! I never seen this problem anywhere else. should not be a hard fix....
I got an update about 2-3 days ago. I deleted the main WiFi from known networks, and I cleaned out all other old WiFi connections that were still in my google account and automatically restored. Reconnected my main WiFi again, and it has been stable ever since. So didn't need to do al full reset of network settings.
Also in the 3/4/5G settings I set WiFi as a preference over Mobile data.
