Hi to everybody, I got a rooted Desire and the camera it's not working, when I run the camera app i'm just getting a black screen.
I don't know why, I tought it was about the ROM I was using (it was Auraxtsense), then I tested OpenDesire, LeeDroid, and now I'm using a root stock 2.2 ROM but neither of them let me use the camera.
I'm using the radio 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 but I've also tried the last one I found here, the 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14 with no luck.
Now I have the next:
HTC Stock ROM 2.2 2.10.405.2
Radio: 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
kernel: 2.6.32.15-g6a358a9
In case that it's a hardware problem, I remember to read somewhere here that it exists a program so you can test your Desire hardware by typing a code, does anybody remember it?
Thanks in advance and thanks for your help.
Regards!
Did you wipe before each flash? If not try that first.
Greets
Yes, I've wiped all the times I changed the ROM.
Download Z-DeviceTest from the market and test your camera. If your camera hardware is working, you should see it's specs listed and the image seen by the camera shown on the top left of the screen.
If the hardware is not working, the camera module could be loose in it's socket on the phone's mainboard, or (more likely) you have defective hardware (either the camera module itself or the phone's mainboard). Try to get warranty repair from HTC.
If you don't have warranty, and want to tackle some exploration yourself, here's the HTC Bravo disassembly procedure (at 2:10 you are at the point where you can remove the camera; camera removal from the mainboard is at about 5:25):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXZqIjtFoAU
...and here's the assembly procedure:

You can buy the camera module:

Fantastic, when I run that app the phone reboot itselfs, ****.
rete, thanks for your help.
Long story short, I started having this issue 2 days later the flashing of CyanogenMod 13 ROM, almost a month ago, maybe a little more. Searching on Google it appeared as a problem of the Cyano ROM, watching the amount of complains found on the web but, after flashing a stock-based ROM, the problem persisted. So I thought that maybe the earpiece speaker got damaged and orderer a new part on eBay. While waiting for the new part to replace, I decided to try to flash the latest stock firmware, trying to solve any kind of kernel related problems. Of course it didn't work. Finally the new part arrived and, after installing it, with a bit of disappointment on my face I realized it wasn't the earpiece speaker the problem: still no sound in calls.
Now, could the problem be the motherboard itself? The 3.5" jack, which belongs to the same module, works just fine. Any idea?

First of all thank you very much for the answer, mate, unfortunately even by following the steps you listed the problem isn't gone. Any other tip?
I'm having the same prob 2. No sound on either sides of the call. The strange part is the sound returns intermittently

What do you exactly mean? Would you verify if the problem occurs only during calls? You can test the earpiece by downloading a specific app from the Play Store (e. g. Speaker Tester).
I've been playing around with the phone flashing modems, bootloaders, stock ROMs et cetera but nothing seems to solve the issue.

I got a new OnePlus 3 phone with stock Android, no rooting or anything else. It started a few days ago when the people who were calling said they cannot hear me. I changed sim cards and still not working so i went further and factory reset the phone but still no good. Then using the official OnePlus instructions i upgraded to another build 3.5.2 found here: http://downloads.oneplus.net/devices/oneplus-3 but still no luck! Tried to sideload another official build to get from 3.5.2 to OnePlus 3.2.2 or older but the update gets stuck at 47% so i`m out of ideas and thinking of sending it for warranty. When i connect my headphones or use the speaker it works fine.
Googled it seems to be a very common problem among OnePlus users. It would be a good phone if the software could match the hardware
have you found a solution to this problem? thx
Can someone help me please?
My cell phone does not sound or even in the microphone.
Microphone is muted.
I plugged in my JBL Bluetooth headset, and it was also without audio and microphone. I restarted the phone, with the JBL turned on via Bluetooth, the phone's sound came back, but the microphone didn't.
If I restart again, without JBL connected via bluetooth, the problem of no audio comes back, and the microphone is not sounding.
I think the problem has to do with software, not hardware.
In view, I often restart the phone, and sometimes come back.
Just yesterday, I restarted the phone, and out of nowhere, the microphone and the audio came back. It lasted a day, and it got bad again.
The headset by the type C adapter also does not recognize in the phone.
I put the headset on, the headset icon does not appear on the taskbar, let alone sound on the headset or microphone.
Is it a MIUI bug? Should I keep flashing Miui through Xiaomi Flash until the bug goes away?
My current MIUI is Miui Global 10.4.1 (10.4.1.0) PCAMIXM.

Probably a bug with your firmware.
Try to do a clean install of the rom or a factory reset to the phone.
I had a bug with my Wi-Fi with my Mi6 for over a year. Between Global stable, xiaomi eu beta and STABLE, my wifi was always dropping, sometimes more than others. Now it's fix. Probably magic.
I had problems with xiaomi roms that what fixed it was flashing the same zip over and over again until it started working. Not even flashing the phone back to stock fixed it.
Always backup your stuff before doing a factory reset.

I just reset it, still nothing, turned the microphone back on once the ROM installation was over, and then the microphone is muted again.
I upgraded from the phone itself, in the system update tab, and located the internal memory.
I don't know if so, the installation is less clean, is it?
For Xiaomi Mi Flash, it only works if Xiaomi has the bootloader unlocked, mine is locked.
To unlock the bootloader, also only if it's in developer ROM, I was in stable.
What do you think?
Now I'm in the developer ROM, better unlock the bootloader, and try to re-rom via Xiaomi Mi Flash or install TWRP, and go there?
Will this make the installation cleaner?
I am still confident that the problem is firmware, not hardware really.

I was thinking this, I'll pass this kernel to see what happens:

Friend, I couldn't solve it so far. I do not know what else to do!
Already blinked stock rom, both by twrp, both by Xiaomi Flash. I installed Line OS rom, thinking that maybe out of stock could solve, and nothing.
And so far, I don't know if the problem really is software or hardware.
Thinking it was hardware, I bought the charging plate that comes with the microphone capsule days ago, I changed the part, thinking it could be the capsule, but the problem still persists.

How did your problem start?
Do you remember?
My, I do not even remember how it started, I already have this problem, a few months ago.
I tried to contact Xiaomi Global too, to no avail, they only recommended I do, what I had already done, factory reset, and etc ...

It would be nice if someone else, experienced in Xiaomi phones and the firmware / software issues of the phone, could help us.
I don't think people see much of the help tab topics around here.
I'm thinking of sending a private message to members who always post rom's here on XDA.
Can you solve the problems you encountered? I also encountered the same problem as you.
I know this thread is bit old, just to try to give some piece of mind for the ones searching out there (like me)
I have not solved the problem, there is no audio output in anyway, neither the microphone works.
After long time i taken my Xiaomi Mi 6 and flashed Lineage OS on it (lineage-19.1-20221013-nightly-sagit-signed) and using adb logcat to check the logstream from the device, i get the following messages:
11-09 00:04:35.233 28971 29014 E AudioSystem-JNI: AudioSystem::listAudioPorts error -19
11-09 00:04:35.233 28971 29014 W AudioManager: updateAudioPortCache: listAudioPorts failed

This lines repeat a lot of times, so I dig into Android Code Search to checkout what is the -19 code. Per def in the source code, -19 is the ENODEV constant, saying "/* No such device */".
As this constant is used everywhere in the source code, I need more time to isolate and found out where this error relates to the Audio System.
I still can't determine if it's a software problem or a reporting from the software that the hardware is faulty. I will update this message as i discover more.

Have you found anything? I'm having the same problem, is it actually a hardware issue or is it software?
Greetings
I have a TA-1050 (Australia) model, and after an update I have very low call volume (apparently a common problem), its ok through headphones.
I've tried all the suggestions I could find on the net.
1. Do other roms have this problem? (thinking LineageOS)
2. how easy is it to "go back" to january release?
TIA
Hi, I'm having the same issue again with a Nokia 6.1 TA 10-43. The first time was repaired in warranty (earpiece replace and downgrade to Pie).
This time I've tried to replace earpiece by myself but didn't solved the problem.
Is it possible to reinstall the same firmware (android 10) without unlock or downgrades, like old Nokia recovery tools?
So, after months I've managed to unlock bootloader and install stock 9.0 Pie Rom, result: still low volume.
Now I've updated to last stock Android 10 version (April 21 security patch), installed Magisk and searched for mixer_paths.xml to edit earpiece settings but it seems this file doesn't exist on this phone.
EDIT: I've found them in root/vendor/etc: there are various mixer_paths files (like mixer_paths_sd1 mixer_paths_tavil mixer_paths_tasha mixer_paths_pl2 mixer_paths_i2s etc.)
Tried to edit them all, increasing value from 84 to 90 for RX* Digital Volume and DEC* Volume and saving but after restart they comes all back to default value of 84.
Any ideas on how to boost earpiece volume with root?
The next step I think is to change phone, unfortunately
Ok, I've found that changes of mixer_paths files reverts to original values due to write protection of stock ROM. Maybe installing a custom ROM should bypass this protection.
