Now, I know...the M9 has ALWAYS had a reputation for being bad on batteries.
I also know, that Facebook and Messenger are two nasty apps that eat batteries alive.
Saying all of that up front, the battery life on my M9 has very suddenly become VERY bad (even with Facebook and Messenger not installed). I thought it might have been a battery calibration issue, but trying a calibration program out seems to yield no improvement (even in the accuracy of the battery indicator).
So, now, if I'm lucky, I'll get about 2.5hrs of battery life even if the phone is in airplane mode indoors. My battery will get to about 65% and then the phone will shut off. When I try to start the phone, I'll get a 0% indicator sometimes, but after plugging it into the charger, I'll then see about 65% battery instantly.
Is there anything I can do or should I throw in the towel and upgrade to an HTC 10? Things are to the point I can't use the thing when its plugged into the charger!
I was using the last nightly build of CM on the thing for months before it got THIS bad. I thought maybe keeping it plugged into the charger too much was the problem, but wiping the dalvik cache after fully charging might help too... no change. I tired flashing Lineage and the battery life is the roughly the same.
Should I try flashing back to stock or try a firmware upgrade or somekind? I honestly have no clue what to do with this thing.
I honestly believe it's a hardware issue. I've tried most anything and I'm there too! I was just going to buy a lightly used m9, flash my current ROM onto it, and wait for the Pixel 2 (the HTC is looking like a disappointment).
My brother had a similar issue with his M8. Sprint refused to acknowledge any kind of hardware issue and insisted that he must have too many apps running, even after a factory reset. He eventually switched to an HTC 10.
I currently have my HTC 10 in for warranty so I have to us my M9 in the meantime. I tried upgrading to a nougat rom only to get terrible battery life. I switched to the santod stock debloated marshmallow and it lasts the day and a couple of hours. I read on the thread that there are no nougat radios for the M9 which causes the battery drain.
I figured it out. It was the battery all along. Replaced the battery, and the phone is getting the best battery life it has ever gotten.

Did you replace it yourself? Was it that hard? My battery will randomly die at 23% sometimes. Debating on replacing it. Can't afford a pixel at the moment.

Yes, I replaced it myself, and your situation sounds VERY similar to mine. It was one of the trickiest operations I have ever done on a phone by far, but the M9 has a few things that make it much easier to do then the M8 for sure (I was dreading having to replace a USB port on my old M8). I replaced the USB port for my M9 while I was in there and also did the thermal mod to help cool the CPU down. I have a very steady hand and some experience doing these types of things, but am by no means a professional.

Only additional note I have is, that the Amazon seller I bought my battery from is now out of stock. A friend of mine who just bought a M9 is ordering a new battery for his, so I can update you with that experience soon. As some people seem to be getting old batteries or batteries that aren't holding a charge even from the vendor I bought mine from. I almost wonder if some scumbags are returning batteries to Amazon saying they didn't use them, but are actually sending back their old batteries!
I did notice while looking for new battery replacements on Amazon the other night, that there does appear to be generic non-OEM replacement options on the market now, where I did not find those at the time I did my replacement. My friend is getting his battery off ebay from a Hong Kong seller, so it will likely be a few weeks before we have it in hand.
I also used this video on youtube as reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYm-2dUW03M I stopped and did the USB board replacement before most of the steps (that is actually quite easy to do by itself). You can watch it to get a REALLY good idea of what you'll have to deal with. I had the Verizon version of the M9 to deal with, so I only had one antenna wire instead of two (most be a different antenna in the VZW version of the phone), and getting the CNC connections back together was harder then ANY of the ribbon cables shown. I had to remove my contact lenses and look at the motherboard really close to see it clearly.
@TheXev Thanks for all of the info. I heard that conducting the battery swap was notoriously tricky. I ended up just buying a m9 for cheap and porting everything over to it... when this battery inevitable dies in 6 months I may give the self-replacement a go (or move on to a Pixel or something).

Just finished replacing my battery this morning. Took me about 45 minutes. I followed this video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDvBvrWN73s&t=180s .... I just hope this will delay me buying a pixel. Expensive!

I've only had my Pixel XL for about 5 weeks. Yesterday was the first hot summer day when I used it in my non-air-conditioned car with the GPS navigating and music playing via Spotify and the Pixel XL shut down 3 times because of extreme overheating. Is this an issue with the phone? I've never owned any phone that ever did this before. If the Pixel XL is going to do that all summer it's going to be pretty useless.
Pixel support made me downgrade from Android O to Nougat because if there is anything wrong with your phone and you are running Android O they use that as an excuse to get rid of you and move on to the next sucker who bought one of these things. I seriously doubt that Android O had anything to do with it.
Support sent me a long and ludicrous list of ways to keep the Pixel XL from overheating. If you spend 900.00 on a premium phone you shouldn't need to baby it to keep it running. I'm thinking about getting a One Plus and just canceling my Fi Service if this keeps happening.

1) Close or turn off other apps and features that you're not using; they may be running in the background.
2) Discontinue using the media temporarily until the temperature normalizes.
User-installed apps

2) Try uninstalling recently installed apps to pinpoint the app causing the issue.
Display brightness
1) Manually setting the brightness to be very bright may contribute to higher device temperature.

Cases
1) Don't use a case that covers the front and back of the device.
2) Use official case (available on Google Store in some countries).
Chargers
1) Don't use unofficial chargers which can overcharge and degrade the battery.
2) Use official charger (available on Google Store in some countries).
Daydream View
1) Daydream View requires high performance from the device. The device's temperature should stay within safe limits.
2) Remove any protective cases from the device to improve thermal ventilation.
3) If your device feels too hot, stop using Daydream View and allow the device to cool down.
Android Wear
1) Power off the device for 5-10 minutes and turn it on again.
2) Try using the watch for another day to see if your issue improves. If your watch is still warm after a day, reply to this email and let us know.

I'm complaining because the current version of Android O is stable enough not to cause the phone to repeatedly overheat and Pixel support has tried to blame Android O for problems I had with this phone when I was still on Nougat--like awful phone reception in many parts of the city, which wasn't a problem with the same carrier on my Nexus. Is that clear enough? I did some research and Pixels overheating is frequently mentioned as a problem for this phone before Android O was ever released. If this is a premium phone it should behave like one.
Applications available from the play store may not have been optimized for O yet, so while it may seem like a stable build it is marked as a beta because it is still a WIP. It's like asking for support here on a custom ROM, would you go complaining to the dev about their latest nightly not playing nice with whatever? No, the dev would ask you to try replicating the issue on the last known stable build so they can begin to determine where from there things went wrong.
With all that said, I also recommend trying this using Nougat and see if your issue persists before anything else. All the overheating issues I have seen are either from using daydream or a defective device that needed to be RMA'd
Phone overheated and shut down again --on Nougat this time. Pixel support says that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with my phone--they consider this acceptable and normal behavior for their 900.00 phone.

You seem to be subjecting your phone to one of those conditions.
You arent the first one to experience overheating.
Many people have experienced over heating with devices a lot more expensive.
I for instance blew a hose on my jeep and drained the radiator, thank god it was a steel block and I didn't do any irreparable harm.
Jeeps dont have the luxury of a cut off system for over heating like your phone does.

I've contacted Google. This phone is 6 weeks old and was purchased from the Google Store. I not only have the standard warranty but I purchased the extended warranty because of the shabby way owners of the Nexus 6P were treated by Google and Huawei. I thought I was protecting myself by paying extra for the extended coverage--but if Google maintains that my phone is operating normally no warranty on the world will do me any good.
I've owned 100 dollar phones and 300 dollar phones and the Nexus 6p was a 600 dollar phone. I have lived in Chicago all my life and used all of these phones in the same city under the same exact conditions. I have never owned a phone before the 900 dollar Pixel XL that repeatedly overheated and shut down under the same conditions. And its only June! What is this phone going to do in July when it gets hot out every day?

I would have thought no reasonable person could possibly find that acceptable. My conclusion is that the Pixel XL was only purchased by Android fanboys because of its prohibitive price, unlike previous Nexus devices that I owned, and that Android fanboys are every bit as useless and annoying as those of the Apple variety.
The XDA threads for Nexus devices are filled with smart people who provide useful feedback and help. The XDA threads for the Pixel XL are something different altogether. Dealing with people here is no better than dealing directly with Google.

Whelp with that said. Go pound sand. If you can't get Google to replace you're faulty device because you're a little push over, then that's you're problem. Don't get mad at everyone else for not knowing whether or not you're phone is actually busted.
My pixel gets hot under very specific and limited circumstances. I RMA'ed my first one for this reason and now my second one does the same thing. Also, I got this second one on June 6th, little over a week ago.
So the conditions that make my pixel get very hot, very fast is this. Looking at XDA on Chrome, gets my phone HOT. It stutters, lags, and battery nosedives. A few other non mobile optimized sites warm it up, or sites with alot of ads, but XDA is basically un-browsable on it on Chrome. I'm on the O beta, and also using Chrome beta, but it acted this way on N too. So I just stay off the website and only use the app.
It's kinda annoying but everything else seems to work fine, so I'm not going to RMA another one.
I ride around with my Pixel XL in a black car, connected to my head unit, running Android Auto, Maps, and Spotify. The only thing I'm not doing that you probably are is running the screen at full bright.
I can give that a whirl to see if I can duplicate it, but as of right now I've never had an overheat shutdown.
Some questions:
Where do you have your phone mounted?
What kind of mount?
Is your phone in a case?
Do you have the same overheat problem if you place the phone in a different location with the same apps running? (say, in a cup holder or dash cubby?)
UPDATE: One hour of driving. Black car. Black interior. Mostly sunny. 85F ambient temp. Nougat 7.1.2 (5/17). Verizon network. Cell, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS radios enabled. Maps running. Spotify streaming via BT. Phone plugged into quick-charger. Screen full bright (100%). No holder in this car, so it was kept in the center console. No case. White phone. Windows open.
Result - did the phone get hot? Yes, it got hot, but not uncomfortably so. Did it overheat? No. Did it shutdown or display any other thermal alert? No, it did not.
So, either your phone is generating a hell of a lot more heat than mine, or something about where you have it mounted or the mount is causing a lot of heat buildup. If you've window mounted or dash mounted, consider vent mounting. Especially if you've a black phone and the sun's beating on it through the windshield. Also, if your mount either covers a great deal of the phone or has foam padding pressing against the back, consider switching out the mount for one that doesn't. That ****'s just an insulator and lets heat build up.
Mine has been very hot unplugging it from the usb cable for android auto in my vehicle but I haven't experienced anything yet like on the 6P. While I loved the design and some features that it had over the Pixel...that thing was a farking overheating throttling all the timepiece of shiite.
I tried the Pixel XL on Android O and the phone overheated. I tried Nougat and the phone overheated. I tried a custom Rom (DU) and the phone hasn't overheated yet, but the normal temperature of the battery when I'm in my air conditioned apartment iand the phone is completely idle s between 90-100F. Is that normal for this phone or should I press Google for an RMA? The only. othervthing I can think of is taking off the case and seeing if that makes a positive difference but I've been using Spigen cases on my last few phones and never had a problem with them.
Any constructive feedback would be appreciated. Anyone know what the normal operating temperature on this phone should be?
The reason of overheating may have to do with the SD821. If that is the case then there is no work around. The reason why I didn't buy the Pixel XL was because of the SD821. However i will buy the Pixel XL 2 with either SD835 or SD836.

Well that sucks. I know the processor in my Nexus 6P was supposed to have overheating issues but I thought that had been solved with the processor used in the Pixel.
Pixel Support offered to RMA my phone but they will send a refurbished one in its place and since the phone isn't even 6 weeks old and I paid 900 for this thing at the Google Store getting stuck with a refurb so fast seems like a rip-off. The Pixel XL already seemed like a ripoff at 900 for a new one--but for a refurb?
A replacement might not even be any better if the CPU is to blame like you suggest. I'm tempted to just sell this thing, go back to using my 6P until the inevitable boot loop of death and then get a One Plus. I will definitely never buy another Google device after getting burned twice in a row.

I would try installing an app to see if you have any wake locks. What's great about Android vs iOS is we have deep sleep. So when that phone shuts off your CPU goes down exponentially. If you are having heat issues, it could be your phone failing to go into deep sleep. I am on a non rooted phone and I get over 7 hours of screen on time and my phone lasts me easily a day and a half. Do you have anything synced? I check all my stuff manually besides Facebook and Snapchat. I would turn everything else off. Also I had a battery case and they all caused my phone to have wakelocks. I have read if you do not use the charger that comes with the device aka car chargers not from Google for the pixel, then I would assume that would give you heat issues. Are you having any other problems besides heat?

The primary problem is that the phone seems to run hot even when it's completely idle. Pixel support claims to have no information regarding what an acceptable temperature range is for this phone so I have no way of knowing whether my phone is running warmer than it should. They did offer to RMA my phone but admitted they would be sending me a refurbished one in return. The phone was 900 dollars and I bought it from the Google Store less than 6 weeks ago. I don't think they should be sending me a used phone. Any charger is going to make the phone warmer because that's the nature of the quick charge technology. GPS use according to the list Google sent me will make the phone warmer. GPS use also drains the Pixel battery quickly, so it's pretty much impossible to use the GPS on a long drive without also using a car charger at some point. I'm using the exact same car charger I used with my Nexus 6P and had zero overheating issues with that phone--at least that I'm aware of. The phone definitely ran much cooler than my Pixel does but the boot loop of death that plagues that phone is likely caused by too much heat for the solder to withstand over time--similar to the LG phones that also permanently bootloop. It's possible Google is trying to avoid a similar issue with the Pixels and that they are programmed to shut down before damage can occur. The problem is that I need a phone where I can reliably use the GPS and a car charger simultaneously on a hot day. The Pixel left me stranded because the phone kept overheating and I had to keep pulling off the highway to let it cool down so I wouldn't get lost. Google considers cool down periods for the Pixel normal and says so in the long list they e-mailed me of all the things that can cause the Pixel to overheat. I don't think Google should have sold this phone in the first place if they thought there was a good chance that it would overheat and shut down if you were using the GPS and a car charger at the same time. I'm still thinking about selling this phone and buying something cheaper and more reliable. I didn't pay a fortune for this phone only to be told by Google that it's fragile and needs to be treated with kid gloves.
I've tried to use the phone without a case. I tried a custom rom and kernel. I tried Greenify. I tried Naptime. The phone just continues to run at a high temperature no matter what I do. Maybe I do need to RMA the phone but getting stuck with someone else's used phone after paying so much for this thing really pisses me off. If I had a problem with a Samsung phone they would replace it with a brand new one in full retail packaging. Google should do the same.

I dont know if you guys live in a humid climate or not but for the hell of it , put it in bag of rice seal good and let it sit for 24 hours can't hurt. Maybe moisture got in there

Phones don't die just like that, in your case, it's either the battery, or a hard brick, or a defective screen. You should better change the battery and try to flash stock software afterwards if battery doesn't work, then you go for the screen, also the chargers that LeEco provides are crappy so it maybe went "out" and afterwards you went out of battery, try to charge with a different cable and charger. Well the phone is in with some rice and a silicone packet thing that absorbs moisture. It never got wet before it died, but figured what the heck, I have no other options.
LeEco won't pick up the phone, nor return my emails or voicemails. Nice company!

It doesn't respond to ANYTHING? Like if you press the power button for 10+ seconds does it vibrate? Like it doesn't even show boot screen or smth? Need more info for a better diagnosis. Also, doesn't matter if the phone is fully stock, anything could have been a factor leading to hard brick, which is most likely your case.. It's like most certainly the battery or a hard brick, may be a bad screen, one of those 3 for sure though. I vote for hard brick and dead battery . Happened to me on my 1+1.. I had no hope that the phone was ever gonna be usable, though that the cost would be higher than the ceiling, it turns out that it was just 8$, a new battery.. I have much much experience with smartphones, used to run my own repair and sell shop. It's up to you if you wanna follow my advise for free, or visit a fellow repairman . Did you purchase your phone with a credit card? Most have extended warranty programs. I'd go that route and see if you can get your money back. They generally don't kick in until the manufacturer warranty expires but it looks like the manufacturer is out to lunch. Doesn't hurt to try.

Legally, Best Buy should honor the warranty and most suppliers would.
For example, Just a month ago, I have returned one of my LeEco phones (5 months old) that was damaged by a faulty cable. and I received a brand phone under warranty.

You bought a phone with a published warranty from a company that is still in business. Most likely Best Buy received extra margin to service the warranty themselves.

Since you cannot reach the manufacturer , you should keep contacting Best Buy, stay on the line and do not take no for an answer, keep asking for the next person up and record the phone call ( they are recording you) if you keep pressing they may give in. Alternatively, get another cable and try unbricking your phone by following the unbrick guide. ( its works but only if you have a x727 or a x720) Its also possible that you have a hardware issue like I did. Worst case you can buy parts for these phones on Ebay and Alibaba

Hi, I purchased 2 LeEco Le Pro 3 phones, and both have broken down completely manufacturer's fault. One, the battery inside the phone started to expand and push out the front screen glass out of its edges. The other one, which I purchased as a backup, the screen auto rotate does not work. I think the sensor is broken.
Now, I have no way to contact the manufacturer for the warranty repairs, none of the contact info are working. I purchased the phones directly from the manufacturer LeEco Mall (just as OnePlus sells directly to the consumer), so I can't even try to return it to the distributor or the seller.
PS: how long is the warranty period on these phones?
PPS: is there a reason that many distributors are still selling the Le S3, and other models except for the Le Eco Le Pro 3? I can't even buy the Le Pro 3 any more. Anyone else having the same problems mentioned above?

we have exactly the same, try to search our thread on it. One user fixed his phone by "re-powering" his battery. I bought another battery and nothing happend for my phone sadly.

Unfortunately, all of these recent issues are likely due to manufacturing. If you take a look you will find that quite a few people who never used a custom rom are also having these issues on stock. Probably alot of the issues are the battery. Ideally the battery should not go over 100F / 38C
For these cases a battery will likely resolve the issue, of course there is also the issue with burned ports.
Custom Roms
But many of the Roms made within the last couple of months are based on Pie and there are too many unknown factors, such as permissions being reset for unknown reasons, edited thermal settings reverting to default etc.
Recently we have seen chip damage. But the cause of chip damage has been found and resolved.
If you are reading this post and your phone is fine. Take every precaution to ensure that your battery stays cool and if on Pie make sure that you have the very latest thermal patch installed.
Since the battery situation has reached a point of no return (under 1.5 hours of SOT, random restarts and bootloops under 50%) and since I won't have the opportunity to get a new device for the next year, I would really appreciate it if someone could share his/her experience with battery replacement via the official HTC service.
I can send my device to either UK or DE service points, so any specific experience with those would be ideal. Furthermore, I would really love to know if someone had any issues with sending their devices with an unlocked bootloader, or received them damaged or scratched, as this is the reason why I am still reluctant of sending my device (I have read some horror stories of devices returning scratched or with damaged screens).
Any help would be highly appreciated.

I would much appreciate the same info except that I'm in the US. Same exact battery difficulties. I've already bought a new device but I would love to keep this one operational as a backup if the battery can be replaced without ruining the device. All the DIY videos I've watched look like a nightmare.

Don't try to replace the battery yourself, to be honest.
I send my phone in for only a battery exchange, and it came back with a new battery, and a new screen.
It's very likely to damage the ribbon cable while putting the phone back.
What I see from some other forums is, basically if you've had software mod, they won't warrant mainboard damage.
Haven't heard anyone had a damaged phone back from official repair though.
It costs around $40-50 for a battery exchange out of warranty IIRC.

Who did the battery replacement? In the US HTC won't replace the battery anymore. I contacted them last week and was told they no longer do it. I'm looking into third party solutions now.

Official HTC repairment center in Taiwan. However in my case my phone is still barely in warranty (a week or less). They covered all cost within warranty. Heard an out of warranty battery exchange is around $40-50.
Also, it seems that they also repair foreign htc phones, although at a additional cost of $35, plus whatever the replacement part costs.
If you're really desperate about your battery and don't want to risk it, maybe pay extra? Just sayin' , and not endorsing anything.
Maybe there's some 3rd party that will exchange 10's battery? Just make sure that they'll also change the screen if they damaged it.

I live in Europe (France). I bought an OEM battery at a fair price from Ebay (I can find the link if anyone is interested) and had the repair done by a store nearby for ~40 euros (which is not so much considering the time it took them to remove the screen without any damage !).
Since the guys agreed to make the change for the same price, I also took the opportunity to replace the rear case, to a beautiful brand new red housing. Now my 10 seems like it just came out of the box, for less than 100 euros in total. I'm happy !
Exact same battery issues over here, but located in AUS. 3rd party repairer is having major issues locating a battery, so I'm going to try going through HTC. Wish me luck!
I just did replacement by myself with the battery that i bought from aliexpress.so far is the winner when i compare with My brother s 2 Yo Phone.i did HTCbattery test. Mine ended with 92% and his 80%
It's a very hard device to repair honestly. I sent my phone for a battery replacement and they accidentally messed up part of the screen(Im guessing they bent a part in the ribbon cable for the screen). I recommend you send it to HTC themselves or a very experienced shop with good reputation and don't try to do it yourself. I must say it does make a huge difference to have the battery replaced.
When i sent my phone in, it was completely stock afaik (it was unlocked and with a custom rom before); howerever, they installed a different version and relocked the bootloader as stated in the papers you sign. It just came back like it was out of the box except that the bootloader said *Tampered* and *RELOCKED* so they didnt restore the bootloader status.

I guess my battery is a bit bulged or something, so I'd like to get it replaced. How should I go about it? I've already written the HTC support, since there doesn't seem to be a repair address or anything like that on the homepage. I am from Germany, so I could just return the phone to my provider, but they take 2-3 weeks longer to get it repaired...

You could find tutorials on youtube, it's easy to replace, just do it step by step be pacient and careful

To give a conclusion to this:
- I wrote the support and got a return label for a local repair shop (3rd party, but authorized by HTC)
- After I sent the device off, I got NO email confirmation that the device arrived, got repaired or got sent back
- Since Hermes is a piece of **** where I live, they never bothered to try to deliver the package.
- By pure luck I was at the Hermes packet pickup store for a different package from Amazon when I learned that I hat not only one, but two packages waiting for me.
- I assume total repair and delivery time was less than a week, but I have no idea how long the package was at the pickup store.
- The battery was replaced, but the glue around the screen was applied quite poorly, but since the device works again I don't really care.
- They didn't touch the OS. Bootloader was unlocked and a custom ROM was installed - no changes after the repair.

I watched a few of those tutorials. Just nope. I'm a bit clumsy by nature, and precision works like that are just a no-no for me. I'd end up having to replace nearly everything, because of accidentally damaged electronic parts.
My HTC 10 is about 1 year old, bought it brand new from aliexpress, so no warranty. Well ... They claim that they give 2 years warranty, but the hurdles that I'd have to go through to send it to them (took 2 months to arrive to me), with no guarantee that I'd get the same phone back when/if they repair it ... Let's just say that it has no warranty.
Luckily, it still has no major issues, apart from an echo problem. Whenever I call someone or someone calls me, whoever is on the other side hears a feedback of his/her own voice for about 30 seconds, then the echo disappears. I hear no echoes, only whoever is on the other side hears it, and only during the first 30 seconds or so of the call. There are no echoes/feedbacks if I turn on the loud speaker or use the earphones. I've been researching about this strange echo issue, and found no solutions. But I digress.
Long story short: I'm too clumsy to attempt a disassembly myself.
Also, it seems that the HTC support here is linked to a company called Regenersis, which I've read very bad reviews about. Since my phone has no warranty, I could search for a third party shop and supply them with the new parts. Although, if it becomes too much of a hassle or if they ask for too much money, I could always buy a new phone.

Just one more question. I've watched this and several other videos repeatedly but there's one thing that's not clear to me. Did you have to use some kind of glue or adhesive tape when reassembling the screen?
In some videos they don't mention it and in another one they uses industrial mp glue (B7000?). I have read a lot about people using tape.
What worked well for you? Are there any pitfalls?

Has anybody personally found a good replacement internal battery that has full, or close to full charge capacity? Before anybody says it, I have replaced phone batteries before and have no issues with the risk and disassembly aspect of replacing the battery. I want to install a new one because my current battery dies so quickly anymore, but everywhere I look I only find ones with terrible user reviews. Can anybody point me in the direction of a better quality option?

No I ended up using the slightly-less-than-terrible verizon trade in offer on an s10. I got the plus because of the 4ah battery specifically although im already remember how much samsung's UI's blow compared to regular android... But if I had gotten one I would probably just get one directly from ifixit after reading some of the user feedback. Seems like they are mostly better received than amazon and ebay options.

I just installed this same battery yesterday. Been using it all day today. Seems to work just fine so far. But only time will tell.
I just installed mine today. As you pointed out, no real way to know how good until it's had a few cycles under it's belt. Was the HTC logo marked out on your battery?

Logos are marked out to do with customs, in many of countries they do not allow the importation of counterfeit products under copyright law, marking out the company logo bypasses this. Obviously if the actual OEM is selling their own batteries then this does not need to be done.
Any updates on battery life? I am looking to buy from the same seller for my Pixel XL.

It was defective, it lasted a week before it would no longer hold a charge. It looked genuine, but I didn't want to deal with a replacement, so I ended up getting a refund, and going with ifixit for a replacement battery instead. I'm guessing I just received a lemon, the seller was solid with the refund.

Expensive at $25, but it's been solid ever since. Holds a charge very well. I purchased the kit, since I can see myself reusing the tools in the future.
It matches the original bloated battery I took out the first time. It seems to be genuine OEM, the HTC logo on the battery is covered up by a black marker which you can remove with alcohol. You can even make it out a bit in their photos.

Since Google decided to extend support for the OG Pixel/XL with Android 10, they left me little reason to upgrade to 4. They would have to come in at $700 (not going to happen) or less for me to upgrade, or else I'm staying put until next year's 5. There is also the "possible" Pixel 4a/XL to look forward to in 6 months.
I had to buy mine used to replace my OnePlus 5 that had a saltwater accident after 2 years of use. The used eBay pixel XL I bought seemed like it hadn't been used in well over a year based on the software update status. It was also on the beta program so it was probably an enthusiast who bought new and used it a few months and switched to something else throwing it in a drawer. Battery still seems as good as they were new, after months of me using it. Still not as good as the OnePlus 5 and doesn't charge fast but it's still a good phone. Camera is close to as good as anything out there. UI had more lag than the op5 but seems smoother in scrolling and general usage.
Hi,on my pixel XL my USB preferences stopped working and is stuck on charge. After trying different chargers and cables, my phone will only charge using a USB-A to USB-C. When I plug phone into PC, it will only charge, can't change it from charge. I was wondering if someone has had a similar problem. If so, did changing the battery fix this problem or has anyone changed the USB daughter board and that fixed the problem. If anyone knows of a fix for my problem. Thank you.

sounds like either firmware or port to me but someone else may be able to correct me. have you also tried on a different computer? could be the ports on there.
