My phone won't wake up anymore. - Huawei Mate 20 X Questions & Answers

Hi Folks I hope you can help me with a problem I'm having.
Five days ago I took my mate 20x (international version) off its charger(original) and noticed that it had turned off while charging. I tried to turn on the phone but nothing....
I charged it once again with another cable, another plug and repeated this 5 times with different cables and adapters. Then I held "power" and volume "down" to reset it, but that didn't work either.
Next up I connected it to two computers but no signs of life, I left it connected to my computer (win 10) for two days and later noticed sound that it connected to my computer. It evens softly vibrates when I turn it on and off. The screen however stays black and even though hisuite reacts, it says "not connected" .
Now and then the huawei logo appears but it's stuck on it, no configuration of button pushing wakes it out of it, except the power button which kills it again.
I bought my device in the UK, so Huawei Japan won't service it, or even look at it.
Do you think this problem can be solved by replacing the battery, or the symptoms a case of something worse?
Hisuite enters recovery mode but when I click recover it says "your device is not supported for recovery.
I am out of my wits....:crying:
Thanks in advance,
Serge

Huawei UK has two year warranty, it might be a defective mother board .
Which supplier did you purchase it from in the UK?
Sent from my EVR-L29 using Tapatalk

Thanks for the quick response, I bought the phone on ebay, it was used. It was fine for 5 months so I don't think the seller sold it to me in bad faith. I don't know however where he bought it, and Huawei UK doesn't have the mate 20x in their line up.....

Try to go to recovery mode if possible and factory reset the phone..
https://www.hardreset.info/devices/huawei/huawei-mate-20-x/recovery-mode/

Thanks tried that...nothing.
I guess it's really bad luck and I'm probably out of 600 euros... I haven't read of other people with this problem so I guess I just got a lemon and order a new one somewhere. I really like this device.

If its warranty left just contact huawei and send it to them for service.

Chatted with huawei, here you go:
I see. Indeed, the warranty will be regions specific in most of the cases so that might represent an issue in regards to fixing it there, but something should still be sorted out with the service center. The warranty will apply, no matter where the customer is living, but it's more a matter of sending the device to the service.
Yes, indeed. He needs to contact the service center either here: 0123 361 9320 or here https://sbeglobalservice.com/contact/

Thank you so much for going through all the trouble, now I have to figure out if there's still some warranty left. If there's not then this is going to be a costly thing...

You got your serial number? Should be on the box.
Give it to huawei and they could check warranty.

That is cool. I hope they replace world wide.
The solution would be select GSM only. And turn off data network. This will somewhat solve the problem for some people.
The announcement claimed that the issue only occurs some m5 in Taiwan.

looks like replacing a new phone isn't a good idea.
Sony Mobile Thailand doing the same way as Taiwan too. many people visited Service Center and still have battery lock issue.
They got a new phone but didn't know it comes with new battery or not.

Hey guys im in Australia now with third batch phone, me and my wife both have the same problem shutting it down by itself and have to jumpstart. Even after we had android update and still got that thing. Seems sony doesnt know how to fix the problem and had manufactured this hpone without relevant test.
I will never use sony brand again. Not any of them.

This doesnt work at all.
The phone shuts off itself depends on signal strength
And when the type of network is changed,
For example, 4g > 3g the thing happens.
i'm having the same problem, cuurently waiting email reply from local SC regarding this.

how come sony release such failure product like this
Hey guys, I had the same problem and send the phone to Sony.
Now I had to go for it. Do you guys know how to check if they really changed the battery for the new one? I mean, without opening the phone,
Regards!
I'd like to update that since the new firmware update this problem has been gone for us. No longer shuts down when signal goes bad.
Edit: Spoke too soon. Worked fine for a while, has shut down twice now but seems less frequent than before, only a couple of times in a month. Guess we will take it for warranty repairs.
Mine still shuts down on 30.1.B.1.33. Did it twice today, in fact. Maybe the next release will fix it, or possibly it can't be sorted in software and needs the hardware fix.

Nope, still locking up on 30.1.B.1.46. Might have to RMA my phone to get it resolved.

Display keeps "popping up"...

Hi guys,
as my HTC 10 is back from repair for the third time (and HTC seems unable to fix the problem) I want to share a video of the quality problem of my 10 with you. Perhaps anybody else had this problem before or even knows how (or if) it's fixable by myself.
Sadly HTC keeps forcing my to send the device back in to repair. I got my 10 now for four months but it was away for repair for about 2 months and i'm really fed up about HTC's support mentality and want my 10 to be usable and not having it to send back and forth again.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B85BfOjwBmF7TGxjMmhpOExJSVU/view?usp=drivesdk
I think you should ask for a replacement. Obviously the phone was opened for service and the display was not glued properly. You can easily fix this but it's skill not acceptable.
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
I asked for a replacement from the first time that it came back unrepaired. But HTC keeps ignoring this parts of my messages and keeps telling that I have to send in the device even law is on my side. But I think they simply know that only a very small part of their customers will go for a lawyer and/or to court because of such "little value"as a mobile device is.
And yes it must have been opened because my fingerprint sensor got repaired. But the display popped up before as it was reason the device was sent in, too. But now it's worse then when it wasn't repaired...
Use a hair drier to heat the screen, that place it with the screen down with something on top for a while (or use a clamp to keep it pressed). Try heating only the part affected. You can also check the back aluminium body for dents.
This should fix your problem.
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
Thx for your guide.
I gave it a shot and it really helped. But only for a couple of days....
Then the display popped up again and again and again and....
I don`t know how hot the parts (back and display) may get before they get damage so i might have heated the parts up way less then it should be. Perhaps that's the problem.
But i managed to get my device exchanged. The "new" one is a fully refurbished one and i was (and still am) really shocked that the new device also has this popping display.
But this time right from the beginning. My first one took a few weeks until the display lifted but the exchanged one has it from day one.
So the wheel is turning again...
But i'm really wondering that i am the only one that is affected by this problem....
Where do you live? If I were you, I would post that on HTC facebook profile of your country. This is not to be accepted. Even here in Poland, which a lot of companies treat like a 3-rd world country they usually have to respond to these kinds of posts. Also, I'm not sure what's HTC policy, but how many times did you send it to warranty? If was serviced 3 times I think they HAVE to offer you a replacement.
I live in germany. Posting it on HTC`s Facebook page makes no sense as they immediately delete posting that were not posted by them.
I could only comment and post pics and/or videos there. But that's not the point either.
HTC here in germany has an absolutely terrible customer support as there are people on telephone/email that don't speak german or english in a way problems could be explained correct.
Devices have to be sent to a point in germany and from there they get forwarded to poland where they get "repaired". Problem is that the technicians in poland don't understand the problem as HTC seems not to be able to communicate it in polish (or proper english).
I sent it in three times but HTC didn't mind of having me to send it in another time. So i reported the problem to my provider (O2 Germay) and they replaced it without a doubt.
But the main problem is that the new device has exactly the same problem. And i'm wondering if only shall be the unlucky guy that has an unusual problem twice without reading anybody else having the problem.
As i suggest that the glue/tape that is used to hold the display is the problem there should be more people with that problem.
Then report it again to O2. At least I would do so. Or I would describe the problem on HTC US facebook site. They don't give a f*** about a customer unless you make them a bad comercial on a social network
Btw, do you happen to know the name of the service center that "took care" of the repair? Was it regenersis? I'm curious, because it's a huge center that handles a lot of phone companies and in Poland it has a horrible reputation (fx. a lot of the phones come back damaged or they say that there's been an interference of liquids and charge for the repair...). The problem with htc devices it that they are not-wisely planned on the inside and their screens are glued, so it makes them very hard to repair, so the service centers with less experienced staff often have problems.
PS It's kinda weird it was sent to Poland, look at this map:

Germany seems to have 3 service centers of the same prioprietor.
I have already reported it to O2 again
But sadly they have about 5 days response time so every communication takes an enormous amount of time
Regarding the service center: you hit it
It's Regenersis (WARSAW). And it not only has a bad reputation in Poland but rather in Germany, too....
And you are right another time. My HTC 10 got damaged by them while sent in for repair the first time. They totally scratched the back of my 10. My guessing is that they dropped the phone to the floor.
At least the marks looked exactly like if the phone was dropped. Because even the chamfered edges on top were scratched and they don't touch a desk (or something like that) when laying down flat for repair.
I guess the reason for sending them from Germany to Poland for repair are the costs. I think it still is much cheaper to send them to another country for repair because of the much lower salary in Poland then in Germany.
Reporting the problem on the HTC US Facebook page might be an idea. But i guess that they will reply something like: "Please don't hesitate to contact our german department regarding this problem!" and that's it.
I suggested writing on US site because I've read about people's problems with regenersis and the only thing that seems to work is the intervention of their spokesman or whatever they are called
Also a good suggestion to do before sending it to the repair/o2 again is to take as many photos of your phone as possible, on the fx. Newspaper fron the day you send the phone as a proof
i think you didn't understand me completely or i just didn't explain my situation very well
At the moment i don't have to act with HTC and (especially) regenersis.
I bought my phone from O2 Germany. When i noticed that my display popps up i contacted HTC because i was thinking that the manufacter could
find faster solutions then the reseller. And then HTC forced me to send it in threee times to Regenersis where it wasn't repaired two times (apparently because of HTC not being able to communicate the problem in proper polish/english)and got damaged (tottaly scratched back) at the first "repair". The third time Regenersis really repaired the phone but after a few days the display popped up again.
And now i contacted O2 which offered me the replacing without any doubt as they heard my story. O2 doesn't work with Regenersis either. They have an own servicer called W-Support here in Germany.
Im only confused that the replacing HTC 10 has exactly the same problem as the first one. And now i have to wait again as O2 Germany hast a repsonding time off more then seven days theese days

Screen freezing, scrambling, eventual restart...Need advice

So, for the most part, I do like this phone. But, its self destructive tendencies get annoying.
In the past, I had a bootloop type issue where all of my data was lost. LG made it right and got me a new G4. That was just a hair over a year ago (+/- 3 weeks or so).
This problem is different then the past one. At first, I thought it was the phone overheating because this would happen when I used the phone (play games, watch videos, etc.) within the last 2 or so weeks. Now it appears to be random.
The two problems are as follows. Sometimes (usually during actual use, as opposed to being on in pocket) the screen would scramble, audio would skip, and phone would lock up. It would reset itself, and sometimes would power back on while other times it would freeze at the Verizon screen.
Other than that, it started freezing with screen off, get real hot and require battery pull to reset. Obviously this caused problems with missed calls, dead battery, etc.
Please see the pictures to see what I am talking about for the scrambled screen.
I am here asking advice. Do you think LG will replace the phone again? And/Or what can be done to remedy this if not?
Thank you for your time and consideration.

I would contact LG over the phone about sending it back in for warranty repair. It is really disappointing to know your repair lasted barely a year. Do you know if they replaced the mainboard last time? You should backup everything off internal storage as your phone is going to be permanently dead soon as it's showing symptoms of the dreaded bootlooping disease again.
Thank you for the reply & sorry for the delay in responding.
So I contacted LG Chat Support
Basically, they would not commit to being at fault, so they are saying for me to send the device to them for repair and while there they will determine if the repair is covered under warranty.
I did wipe the device, and that helped for a few days after an initial failure. The phone would not allow me to pass the initial setup for a few hours. I would start the process and it would fail and restart dozens of times. After that initial problem, I went several days without issue. Feeling confident, I decided to reinstall some apps, including games. I played a couple times a couple days and finally had the issues described above. This time it came back in glorious fashion. After that first instance, I have had dozens of freezes....today.
I plan on filling out the necessary stuff to send it back, but if it costs more than $50-100, I don't know i want to spend the money on fixing it up. At this point, I really do not know if it is worth it. I suppose my faith in this model has run out.
Any other input would still be appreciated.
Did you contact LG USA? Just want to confirm that first .
Did they agree to send you a free FedEx label to send it in for repair?
It sounds like a mainboard going bad, so don't spend your own money shipping it in until you post here first.

Sorry for the delay. I have been getting crushed at work.
The chat I used was from the https://www.lg.com/us website.
In the chat, the representative said to proceed to "request a repair" and i will get the fedex label to ship it out. (changes me to https://www.lgmobilerepair.com/request_repair)
I have since switched back to my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 :cyclops:
So, I finally got my phone back from LG. They "fixed" it at no cost. I am very appreciative of that. They said they gave me a new board but it kind of looks like i got a refurbished phone(different screen I think). I sent my battery a long with my phone and back cover in and they gave me what looks to be a new battery with my old back cover.
I greatly appreciate your help. Thanks for your wisdom and replies. I hope this helps some other folks. We shall see how long this phone lasts.

The seller claims he cannot trace it
Its a stolen Phone or registred as such
hold volume down + power to force shut down the phone and then quickly do the recovery key combo / download mode combo before it reboots
This does look like a stolen phone and should be returned.
One of the hazards of buying second hand phones etc.
If you bought it through somewhere like ebay then claim the money back. If you didn't then it's a case of buyer beware and need to chalk it up to "you live, and you learn"
Rule no. 1 dont trust e-bay for used electronics
Rule no. 2 dont buy used electronics without seeing with your eyes.
Been dealing with used phones for almost 5 years, never had any issue.

If i were you, i will request refund and return the phone to seller.
If you are past the return dates, i would pop in a simcard and keep the phone charged.
Then lodge a police report saying you got scammed buyingthis suspected stolen phone.
When the original phone owner come knocking on your door, you have the police report with your intentions stated to protect you from legal liability, and just return the phone to the owner.
Or.. still the phone for parts

hello everyone, today ebay stepped in and said i can no longer get my refund because its more than 30 days since i opened the return case,
since this phone is stuck with me, i know the screen can cover some of my losses, but i really want to know if there is another solution to this
thank you
As already stated, this is most likely a stolen phone that's been resold. Next step would be a police report and making sure it finds its way back to the rightful owner (or simply just handing it over to the authorities).
Keeping it and/or selling it for parts when knowing it is most likely stolen is morally ambiguous and in many parts of the world likely illegal.
This thread has run it's course, so I'm closing it now.

Question Warranty TurnAround 4 ONEPLUS... time? quality? + or - experience?

So, I've sent in my Oneplus 9 pro LE2127 in for service (my phone hard bricked with no sign of life).
I will say that the process to mail in the device is super simple, fast, and quick.
You basically request service from the Oneplus Service website, enter your IMEI, pick the reason (with explaination) and if needed you can upload a video showing the problem.
Within a minute or so, you receive a prepaid FedEx shipping label and an email explanation on how/what to return. It's not rocket science, but oneplus did miss the boat in their request to include a pin or password for the device. I printed out my complete return shipping address, the IMEI, the explanation of the problem, my pin / password requirement, the RMA number, and packaged my handset in between two pieces of cardboard which I wrapped in bubble wrap and placed inside a cardboard box that suspended the device within the box.
My device was dropped off on Monday morning at a FedEx location and the device was received by Oneplus service center on Tuesday morning (May 10th).
You can track the service status online at oneplus.com to see the progress. The promise is 7 to 9 days service repair. There is no mention if that is working days or all days (weekends), nor if that includes the shipping time (time to send, and time to return). I'm hoping to have my unit back by Next Wednesday the latest (that takes into account shipping return time.

I last used the service center for my OnePlus 3T around 2 or 3 years ago, always found it effortless and efficient. Even out of warranty battery replacement was reasonable at around £30 GBP. They always sent a UPS / FedEx or DHL for the pickup and return. That might be specific for the UK. Always back within 5 working days.
it's a fake imei lol... 1234 1234 1234
Today is four working days that Oneplus has my LE2127 in there hands. The status update is unchanged. I'm guessing the promise of 7 to 9 days is still a possibility. I'm saying this because I truly miss the handset, as well as being without my Motorola Razr 5G (which I had to mail to the USA for warranty, and they won't ship it back to me in Canada).
Oneplus service center emailed me with...
This email is with regards to your repair request #CAXXXXXXXXX. We would like to inform you that as your device is not a Canadian variant and is sent to the service center in Canada, the mainboard of it needs to be replaced in order to fix the issue and as we do not have the spare parts for this device in the Canadian Service Center, we would like to inform you about the Global Repair Policy we have.
In this process, you will have to pay for the mainboard of the device including the VAT according to the region after which we will provide a brand new (OnePlus 9 Pro 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage Morning Mist) device as a replacement to you that will be shipped from our warehouse. If you are not willing to pay for it, your device will be returned back to you as it is.
Kindly confirm if you wish to proceed with the GRP option so that we could process the request further. Please be informed that if you accept the GRP option the device you have sent for the repair will not be sent back to you.
The price of the mainboard of the device is CA$498.00 excluding VAT.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
We appreciate your time and patronage.
Feel free to contact us back if you have any further queries/concerns.
What a crock of sh!t! Why did they accept the device in the first place even before knowing it was a LE2127?!?!?!
And this is why I love that I live in EU. The laws here protect you as a buyer/consumer. If the phone is dead, and it's under warranty (even with an unlocked bootloader, not damaged by you though) there is no way for them to avoid repairing it. If they don't have the parts, they either need to replace the phone or do a FULL refund you paid for the device. EZ PZ.
Oneplus's Global Repair Policy: We will find something to not honor our warranty obligation and offer you to pay at your full expense to make a repair that we are supposedly not able to honor.
I spoke with a chap from Oneplus Repair and he said on the call that if the battery was defective, they would of repaired it anyways because they have the part. Or the screen for that matter, or anything but the main board because it is different to the LE2125 board. He doesn't know what is different, just that it is and that they can only repair it by inserting a LE2125 board. Incredibly frustrating. Oneplus is by far (not dishing on them, just stating facts) as big, or successful as Apple who can carry that elitist attitude.
Once I get the phone back, I will try something that I did not do before sending it in... I will start the MSM Tool, choose my TMO device in setting, and click start. Then I will place the LE2127 in EDL mode and quickly plug it in to the USB cable. Hope that helps, otherwise I will go with plan B.
What???? 498$ Canadian...???
The most expenssive phone cost 400-450 $ to make. The hole phone! Apart from the fact that they sell the phone with 1200 Euro...
I don't think apple can't ever be matched as they are King & Queen of **** company !
I mean they're offering you a new in box LE2125 for $500. It's not the ideal obviously but it's far better than just paying for a motherboard. That's $300 less than what the device costs at retail.
I don't know why you expected the Canadian service center to warranty a device that wasn't sold domestically. I am actually impressed they offered this at all because most companies would just tell you that you're SoL because your warranty became void when it was shipped out of the US.
Hopefully you can get the TMO MSM to work and you can save the money but yeah, that isn't a bad deal they're offering.
EDIT: Actually since it's Canada, it's an $1169 CAD device they're giving you for $500 CAD.
For a Device that I paid full price? I'm not throwing another $500 at the phone. I'm going to get it exchanged mooooowoohahahahahaaaaaa... Oneplus One doesn't know who there dealing with.
