Pixel 3A XL root folder 0b space free - Google Pixel 3a XL Questions & Answers

I'm trying to make an app a system app but when I try to move it I get a not enough space available error (using mixplorer). The phone was just factory reset/rooted today so I know I have space. Any ideas?
Tried solid explorer too and see no option to mount RW

If you're on Android 10 there is no way to mount any partitions besides /data.
The newer pixel line uses logical partitions which dynamically resize for updates and can't be mounted.
The only way to systemize apps is through magisk.

Free size of system participation

I've been messing around with freeing up space in my system partition (using the gingersense 3.0 Rom).
It appears that no matter how many system apps I delete, the available space (39072k) doesn't change when I check it via a terminal emulator using the df command.
What am I doing wrong?

First there is no need to delete system apps as you have plenty of free space. Second you have nothing to gain by removing them. Third the ROM may have system apps in data but symlinked to system meaning you likely are just freeing space from data.

Are you s-off? If not, thats probably your issue. As tiny said there is no benefit to removing system apps unless you concider it bloatware, or plan on replacing them with other apps.
Yes,I am s-off. The apps are gone, the size of system just didn't change.
I think tiny was on to something when he talked about system apps being in data, but symlinked to system. When I checked the partition using an app called storage analyser it showed me link in system, with app directory being in data.
Thanks for the thoughts. It's fun to tinker with the Android OS

I know for a fact a lot of sense ROMs on sense 2.1 and greater use that symlink. So I'm still wondering what there is to gain with 40 MB free in system and probably over 100 MB free in data.

Help, i can't get Google apps to install

Hi, I am using a Nexus 7 with Beta 3 and i cannot seem to get Google Apps to install. I get the message insufficient space in the system partition. I have tried deleting apps but it doesn't seem to make any difference. What else should i delete to make it work? Ive also tried the mini Google apps but it still isn't enough space apparently. My device has 8.5gb free however.

The system PARTITION (key word) is a part of the hard disk set aside for just the system files that 8.5G is the USERDATA partition

Folder Mount and LG G4

Hello all.
I recently bought LG G4 (European unlocked version H815) and rooted it mostly because I wanted to use Folder Mount since many games nowaday take so much storage space. I updated my phone before rooting to the most recent firmware (5.1). With my previous phone (Samsung Galaxy S4 Active) Folder Mount worked perfect. With LG G4 Folder Mount seems to mount everything but when starting a game it wants to download the game data again. I checked if I can find the mounted directory (in Folder Mount) from internal memory;it was found but seems to be empty.
With ES File Explorer those mounted directories can be found but are shown with question mark.
I tried SDCard Fix but it told that apps already have write access to my external SD card and no fix is needed (Folder Mount probably fixed it).
I e-mailed Folder Mount developer but still waiting for a reply.
Please suggest any similar program that works with LG G4 or tell me how to fix this problem. Much appreciated!

Install it via xposed app
Like this one
Incase you need a guide in xposed installation here it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/themes-apps/guide-installing-xposed-locked-t3181593
Many games put the bulk of their data on the SD anyway. If you have FM try to move it, it will get lost. Just had this issue. Delete the FM redirect and try it.

new to root 1st attempt, busy box finds sys/xbin full?

Hello there, having a prob finishing project. Root established w. nrt, busy box wont install....no room sys/xbin? what do I do?
Your system partition must have not enough free space. Consider making some free space there before installing busybox.
Try disabling USB debugging, for some strange reason that sometimes works

Thanks
I will try, like I said new to all this sys partition how do I find it, and how do I make space? Will try changing usb debugging also. Trying to learn.
In a terminal emulator do the following commands:
su
df /system
How much free space does it show?

Says, df/system: not found
Tablet says lots of storage. one of the new programs I have said system full but other storage plenty.
You missed the space before the slash:
df /system
In any case you will need to remove some not needed apps from the system partition.

Ok, didn't even notice the space but why is my system suddenly completely full? looking on phone 11 gb free but looking at one of the root programs the file busy box needs to install to xbin says completely full. Although busy box says it is installed it says xbin no storage sys no storage room, very confusing for a noob.
Try the Nexus Root Toolkit by Wugfresh, I know it's adb in a wrapper but it's very easy to use good luck.

hey xda - resize system partition?

Hey XDA, hope all is going as well as possible.
I'm hoping if you could provide some information.
So, I tried to move an app to the system partition, but, the system partition is full and , well, the attempt to move the app obviously was unsuccessful.
Is it possible to resize partitions without corrupting any data or something?
I didn't do any search just yet. I felt this was the first step being that this is the device I own and it's the question and answer sub.
Hope you're willing to help, thanks.
Which version of Android are you running? If it is 11 then you can't resize it. If you want to move a app to the system then you need to install systemizer module for magisk and install it with terminal. Though I haven't had much luck with that either.
What has worked for me 100% reliably is to make a module for magisk that will inject the app into system
Androids new Scoped storage format will not allow edit the system partition.

Thanks for the reply. I'm on 10.
I believe 10 is formatted the same way
As mentioned, it is not a space issue, the issue is that you cannot write to the system. If you want an app to act like a system app you would have to compile it that way or use a magisk module to mount it to system. You cannot directly put it in system otherwise.
