Hi, I am using a Nexus 7 with Beta 3 and i cannot seem to get Google Apps to install. I get the message insufficient space in the system partition. I have tried deleting apps but it doesn't seem to make any difference. What else should i delete to make it work? Ive also tried the mini Google apps but it still isn't enough space apparently. My device has 8.5gb free however.

The system PARTITION (key word) is a part of the hard disk set aside for just the system files that 8.5G is the USERDATA partition

I've been trying to install various apps on my device but everyt time I try to install a new app it says I have unsufficient storage space, which shouln't be the case as I have plenty of space left on the phone. Even if I try to delete a few applications off the phone in order to make some room it still says I have unsufficient space.
I'm running AOKP JB rom 09/04 version with the Sammy Kernel 08/30.

Is it looking at the internal sdcard or external? Also, way back I had a similar prob, I rebooted to CWM and did the fix permissions, and it started letting me d/l. Also, try clearing the cache for the market app, you are talking about from the market right?
Yes, I I figured out how to fix it, used the cmd console through platform-tools to manually set the install location to external sd now everything installs perfectly =) thanks for the help though

I've been messing around with freeing up space in my system partition (using the gingersense 3.0 Rom).
It appears that no matter how many system apps I delete, the available space (39072k) doesn't change when I check it via a terminal emulator using the df command.
What am I doing wrong?

First there is no need to delete system apps as you have plenty of free space. Second you have nothing to gain by removing them. Third the ROM may have system apps in data but symlinked to system meaning you likely are just freeing space from data.

Are you s-off? If not, thats probably your issue. As tiny said there is no benefit to removing system apps unless you concider it bloatware, or plan on replacing them with other apps.
Yes,I am s-off. The apps are gone, the size of system just didn't change.
I think tiny was on to something when he talked about system apps being in data, but symlinked to system. When I checked the partition using an app called storage analyser it showed me link in system, with app directory being in data.
Thanks for the thoughts. It's fun to tinker with the Android OS

I know for a fact a lot of sense ROMs on sense 2.1 and greater use that symlink. So I'm still wondering what there is to gain with 40 MB free in system and probably over 100 MB free in data.

I am currently running CM 11 latest nightlies. Since doing so, I have run into the the insufficient storage error. It first occurred when I was prompted to update Hulu ±. So, I uninstalled the app and attempted to reinstall. Still insufficient storage. It seems to be hit or miss. I can install/update some, but not others. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried navigating to an /app-lib folder to delete orphaned app files but there is no such folder. I've tried clearing data and cache for the play store, services and framework and rebooting as well.

You can check your storage usage in settings > storage. Free up some space by uninstalling apps or deleting some media files then try again.

The path should be /data/app-lib/
It's definitely there, I had the exact same problem. Just go in there, delete the folders for the apps you can't update, as well as any duplicate ones your find.
Hi, I recently updated to the cm11 stable from cm10.2 and am having the google play problem of insufficient storage, but only for the snapchat app. All other apps update and install fine. I have tons of free space and have tried cleanmaster and app cache cleaner to find residual files, and cant find any large amounts of log files taking up space either. I'm not sure how to deal with this issue since, so far, it is specific to only 1 app. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

I actually just figured it out surprisingly on my own. It started happening with other apps too. In /data/app-lib there were multiples of some app folders named something along the lines of "chrome-1" and "chrome-2" or "snapchat-1" and "snapchat-2". When I deleted the "-2" folder for the app that wasn't updating or downloading the error was gone. Hopefully this could be helpful to anyone else with a similar problem.
This is driving me crazy. I keep have storage space issue when trying to install certain apps. Currently I am trying to install Mapfactor. I had it installed previously and just removed it. Now it says I do not have enough space to install it. Storage says I have ~650 mb free. Why can I not install a 9mb app? I have cleared my cache and dalvik and still I get insufficient storage space. I've attached a screenshot of my storage settings.

I was just able to install a different app that was 40mb. But, I still can not install the Mapfactor app again. WTF!?

So I dug deep and found a Mapfactor file still in /data/app-lib/. Once I deleted that file I was able to reinstall the app.

I have been having similar issues trying to install apps . I think my data is corrupted with the EMMC BUG

Since my discovery above, I check the /data/app-lib folder if I have any issues installing apps. I had this happen on a couple other apps and each time they had data in that folder. Once I removed that data, the app installs perfectly.
