Trying to delete long unused account but can't remember details - About xda-developers.com

I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong place. I have tried using the webmaster contact form but the message never goes through and throws up an error message.
When I try to change the email address on the account I am posting this from, I am told that another account is already using that email. I suppose I set up an account some time ago that I never used and I don't even remember what user name I used so I can't use the delete account web form.
Since I can't seem to solve this using the standard web based forms what should I do? Thanks.

Hi,

[Q] Email Crashes When Typing "To"...?

I have had this problem with both Energy ROM and MightyROM.
When I create a new email and start typing in the "To" field, if I pause for a second, which seems to let the phone go looking for addresses/contacts matching the first letter I typed, the email program crashes.
The only way I can send new emails is if the addressee is in my Contact list.
Anyway to fix this?
If you post a question in Energy ROM thread, you should get answer, well, instantly.

Or the thread will get sidetracked with another problem
Just tried "Plutonium_CHT VIDEO BY D/\SH".
Same issue.
Works fine for me on EnergyROM. I wonder if your Contacts list is damaged, I bet it doesn't happen if you flash a ROM and then don't restore your Contacts.
Since this is the ROM Development forum, I suggest that you either re-post this on the General forum, or post in the thread for one of the ROMs you have tried this on, preferably the one you're actually running now so that you can see if others have the issue.
Tried about 3 more ROMs and they all had the same problem but I narrowed down the problem to be related to one of my contacts.
I use GMail. When I was in college I made a single contact for my whole class' email list. This means I had one contact with about 18 email addresses in the "Email" field of the contact information. This works great for sending out mass emails to the whole class.
Apparently this would cause Outlook mobile to crash when it went looking for matching contacts/email addresses when typing in the "To" field.
I never encountered this before on my last phone. I'm guessing that was because it didn't autocomplete the address field.
I removed that contact from my list and Outlook doesn't crash anymore. I guess I'll just have to find somewhere else to store my old email list.
Moved as not ROM Development.

[Q] Deleted from XDA for nothing?

I had only posted 1 thread, which wasn't spam in anyway, wasn't against the rules. was a simple question which was eventually answered and solved.
Any reason for me being deleted?
If you give us your user name of the account that was deleted perhaps we can let you know the reason, also try contacting the Moderator that deleted your account.
Perhaps your thread was part of the data that was lost during the recent upgrade.
Probably the poster above me is right. I just went into your profile and saw nothing. Usually, mods can see deleted threads, but there was nothing in there.
Also only 1 user is registered to this IP , was probably lost in the DB crash a few days ago
As I understand his/her account was deleted, so he/she created another account to ask this question, so we canĀ“t really know what was the previous username or the threads/posts deleted
this was my previous username. "wonderboy1".
and my thread was deleted as well.
That means you did nothing wrong. Since you used same username, that suggests it was just lost in the database failure. Accounts also don't get deleted except in severe circumstances, usually, where you requested the delete.
So welcome, unfortunate inconvenience, try posting your question again and get stuck in
Indeed, accounts posts and threads that disappeared and were originally created on or arround 25th / 26th Sept are atributable to the server problem and the restoration of the day old saved database.
User accounts will need to re-created. Thank you to all those who have been very understanding about this and to the one and only guy who told me to "go to hell" - well I got news for you, I'm already sitting in a big firey chair and my horns are pointing straight at you - welcome to my domain!

[Q] Google Drive

I have a question regarding sharing files in Google Drive.
I just wanted to start by saying I am new to cloud storage (I used Dropbox but not very often) so please forgive me if this question is for noobs.
I started using Google Drive yesterday and placed a couple pictures of my son into My Drive. The pictures uploaded without a problem. I wanted to share them with my father. So what I did was place a check mark beside the pics I wanted to share, then clicked the share button. It went into the share settings and asked me to add people. So I added his email address and that showed up without issue. You can then select if you would like the recipient to edit, comment or view. I chose to have him view the file.
Once that was setup I went to the More drop down menu and selected share....email collaborators. Then I sent the email to him. He received the email with a link to the pictures, however it told him he must sign in with a username and password. I retried again and sent it as an attachment instead.
Why does he have to sign in with a username and password if I email collaborator? If I was to send a file to a co-worker I would have to provide them with my username and password to access the file?
Just a little confused. Any clarification or assistance is much appreciated. Thanks.
well that's how Google wants to play, nothing we can do about it...sorry dude

Ok, I asked a co-worker the above question and she said that he would also need a Google Drive account as well. That way the file/pictures will be available in his Shared With Me Folder. If he doesn't have a Google Drive account I would either have to send as an attachment, just like a regular email or provide him with access to my Google Drive account. thanks for your response.
Turns out I am the idiot. My sharing options were set to Private which require a password to log in. I have since changed it to Anyone with the Link, so no password is required.
Just thought I would share in case anyone else has the same issues as myself. Thanks.

ROTFLMFAO Awesome! Nice to know thanks. I should give this app a try. Instead of me sending MMS pics of my son to my dad.

[Q] Logging into Galaxy Pro 12.2 tablet

I don't know how to delete this posting, so please disregard, as I just found out my mother was confused about some of the information she gave me. Thanks!
I'm trying to help my mother set-up her Galaxy Pro12.2 over the phone. It's been a challenge as I don't have one, so I've been relying on how-to info and manuals off the net. In the process, I've encountered an issue I can't figure out. I'm sure the answer is simple...probably should be obvious, but I've not been successful in figuring it out. The question follows: After we get everything setup...connected to wifi, email account registered, etc. she says it takes her to a log in screen that asks for her account and password. According to her, this screen comes up whenever she starts up the tablet. She said it looks like it's asking for an email address/account and password. We created a new gmail account for her during set up since she didn't have one and her primary email is through ATT, which utilizes yahoo mail. She's tried to enter both of these to get logged onto the tablet, but it rejects them both. Can someone please verify that it's looking for an email address/account and password and/or if it's supposed to be the gmail account we created/activated? Thanks so much for any help!

Mess between -XDA Login- and -Disqus- profiles (Help)

This is driving me crazy, I have my XDA account "Jerber" (this account) with my avatar and everything; is the account that I use everyday for comment arround XDA sections.
On the other hand I have a Disqus account that I use for comment in diferent websites, It has nothing to do with my XDA account.
And finally (here come the mess), when I go to the main XDA Developers website (to news like this https://www.xda-developers.com/lg-g6-camera-app-ported-to-the-lg-g5/) there is a opened profile called "Jerber" with my old avatar ready for do comments and seems that it works like a Disqus account... as you can see I did a coment and it shows that was made with that "Jerber" profile...
If I go inside of that profile ( https://disqus.com/by/xda-9a10d25154dc708d237da4dd6ed0b153/? ) it looks/works like Disqus, but when I want to edit the account it sends me to my Disqus account...
For that reason I am not able to edit the avatar or go inside of that "profile" to try to understand how it works...or at least edit it
Any idea for help me?
The profile is there, opened in the XDA new section, I can use it, logout and login (With XDA login), comment, edit and delete but that is all, if I want to do some changes the profile sends me to other place...
Bumping this oldie. I have the same issue. Disqus is bonded to XDA and there is no way to leave reactions on XDA articles without an XDA account. There is no way of logging in to disqus with an xda profile, it just makes a new account with the same XDA email/google account, thus having 2 seperate accounts with the "same" login information, but different profile urls.
I have to agree. Doing it this way can break notifications completely when the user name is the same for xda as well as disqus
Bumping this thread. Just discovered that in order to comment with my regular Disqus account in the XDA Disqus comment section, I first have to log out of XDA and be logged in to Disqus! This is a pointless complication! Please get rid of it or make it optional XDA.
I've been trying to fix this crap for ages, have gotten nowhere.
Seems that Im going to be stick to that account forever -_-
Same issue here. I created an account on Disqus using my same username for Pocketnow recently acquired by XDA, but the accounts aren't merged. Nor does there seem to be a way to merge them. I tried looking in Disqus' help pages, but there's nothing about merging accounts for common users! It's all about adding Disqus to your site. If no way is found soon, I'm deleting my Disqus account.
It seems to me that the Disqus plugin works separate from the actual Disqus site itself. Weird. While it's good that they're not collecting data that you didn't give them, they should allow a synchronization method.
Same problem here and it's driving me nuts! Just let me have my notifications!
Bump*
here we bump again.
i have pretty much the same problem. when I enter to disqus.com it just jump in my unmanageable profile.
if anybody has the same problem, I hope we can get rid of this.

There is a long explanation for this. When Disqus originally allowed Single Sign On we had a paid plan to allow this. Disqus then switched all of these paid plans to a free plan. We always had issues with it, for example if you update your avatar, there is no way to notify Disqus about the new avatar. Now, Disqus only allows single sign on for their "Enterprise" accounts, which is very expensive. We are sort of stuck in no-mans land, where is it enabled on our account but with no support.
My hope is to eventually integrate portal comments with forum membership. That way, accounts or unified.
Wish I had a better explanation or fix for you!

wow, I didnt expect a so fast reply on this old thread.
is there any way to do anything with these account?
can I make it work? like update the password and so on...
And Disqus auto login on site-generated accounts is broken again.
It's been almost 2 weeks nomatter what I do, delete cookies, relog, anything, I won't get signed in with the automatically generated account from this site.
I hoped this issue would resolve in some days, like it happened in the past, but nope.
EDIT: By going to my email, finding the specific xda code generated and requesting for a password reset, I kicked it back alive. I have no idea what put my account in that limbo state out of nowhere.
Man, Disqus feels like a royal pain...
I'm sick of it. Decided to not change anything and just not bother commenting
Some will say hooray, lol
I just get sick of jumping through hoops for things
