Hi all,
It has been almost 2 months since our Note 10 plus started rolling, and there have been many discussions about the difference in performance between the two variants (Exynos and Snapdragon). Therefore I decided to open this thread to get a better image of the real performance and benchmark results.
To start with me, I've got the Exynos dual sim version SM-n975F DS. The test used 4% of the battery (90% to 86%)

Did Samsung improve anything with the updates? or did Antutu change their grading system?

Hi,
Antutu version 7.* vs 8.* (about 360k in previous version vs about 480k now...)
It was explained on their website 3D bench Vulkan 3.0 for GPU and a few other things changed about CPU, can't find the link right now, the first Play Store update detailed the changes... so nothing about Samsung side, only Antutu side about the score differences from algorithm changes.

Oh, wow! The Note 10+ is aging well, just like a good wine. I predict that it will go over 600k in the next ver. of antutu
Btw, I opened similar thread way back in August and made a short vid with N10+ vs S10e going head-to-head:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10+/how-to/galaxy-note-10-vs-s10e-head-to-head-t3959625
It would be interesting to know if there is a significant difference in Performance against a Note with a custom Rom and different kernel, that gives an idea About how crucial the role of Software is.
Did anyone root their Note 10 plus?

I don't know if you know, but there is no general consensus about the worthiness of antutu score as a scientific method of performance determinations
it's used mostly for bragging rights, though I sympathize with the exynos phone owners for being upset about an unfair deal on part of Samsung.
and here it it is, my N10+ antutu bench ver.8.0.3:
lol sure not, it's not about bragging, we're not kids overall. I really want to know in numbers how hardware and software differences contribute to the overall performance of the device

Not gonna download that Antutu again :') But my Geekbench 5 results are coherent with the ones I used to get with Pie. My battery life and system responsiveness has improved noticeably tough.

Hey so anyone tried using the Antutu Benchmark test? I used it for the DT2 and there are like 10 other phones that blow this thing away. My highest result was just over 53K. I am using the 64bit version. Anyone else getting better results? I thought this device would be up there with GN5...
I'm still considering trading this in for maybe the LG v10 or Note 5
Lol the V10 certainly won't be faster. So your comment is kind of funny.

Yeah I know, but I like the look and feel of the V10..
I'm just puzzled why the DT2 is only getting around 53-55K and other phones are seemingly blowing this one out of the water???
I just got a test result of over 59K but I accepted a phone call during the test.
I just got a 59315 with a fully configured device.

Just ran mine got over 60000
Sent from my XT1585 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Mine just pulled in a 54436. Not particularly great, but whatever. Still more than passable for me.
What?
i got this on droid turbo 1 (moto maxx)
Pulled a 62081 this morning with no tweaking. Most of my mail is set to check every 15 minutes so I may have run the test in a slow time.
I just pulled 63000 on my 64GB Droid Turbo 2 this morning, obviously the gs6 and note 5 beat the SD 810.
Benchmarked one of the display models at Best Buy with the new Antutu v6.0 app, got 84,575. That was after I'd been using the device for about 10 minutes. Sorry I don't have pics. Got 76,242 after a second go around.
Running the most current antutu it don't seem to low.

So that's pretty dang fast then. Other sd810 devices probably would've throttled their benchmark scores way down after that usage (not much). 6.0 is coming soon, I don't think Motorola will have a repeat of the last gen turbo, not getting the update until way after the Moro x 2014 got it. Especially since employee editions already have it. Performance should go up, and we just might see more geek bench results in the low 5000s. Speaking of which, I also ran geekbench on the display model, got 4,362. Again, no pics.

Okay. Thats surprising, slower than an S6, of which lagged like crazy when I used one. The turbo 2 was literally the fastest device I have used in a while, X Pure aside. But Que sera, Que sera. Benhmarked above the samsungs tho. But hey, everybody's got a different boat to float, right? S6 battery life is abysmal, so not hard for turbo 2 to kill it off in that regard.
My wife has the S6, which she gets along with very well. But being that the S6 was mentioned earlier in this thread, I have to say that when it comes to updating/installing apps and checking Storage/Cached data, the S6 is much faster at processing all of that. I still prefer my Turbo 2 to her S6.
Would you say that the Samsung Galaxy S7 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Samsung Galaxy S7 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Speed is just awesome ... it's a flagship ... not expecting anything else
Performance is good but i think there is a problem that lags the keyboard.
I Don't know its my phone or else, but in some games, its little bit lag when loading some scene. But one thing that I notice that my S7 signal is more weak than my previous phone (on LTE), it's very noticeable that sometime I have to restart my phone or change it to 3G first than switch it back.
I have had similar signal issues while my other gs7 had a good signal. Replaced the device now the signal is good..
As far as speed, it feels slower to me then my s6 and note5 games dont run as smooth, gear vr jitters or glitches quite a lot, something the note5 never did. And it doesnt register touches well. I have had these issues on 3 separate gs7. 2 mine and the one i returned and swapped mainly because the signal and i could see glue separations and striations in sunlight between the lcd and screen. I have really come to dislike this phone, a first for me with samsung.
My S7 doesn't seem much faster than the LG G2 it replaced. Might this have something to do with the higher resolution?
Much faster and snappier than lg g3 i have ownded previously.

Sometimes lags (barely visible)
This is my new account and was here since my galaxy s2 and I really looked deeply into the matter.
Improved to an S4 later and tuned the hell out of it. And now having an S7.
The Hardware and the processor improved really much since then, so it's not an hardware issue, it's allways a configuration and software issue, if the phone lags.
I can't understand why people are unhappy with their phones, that aren't "snappy" enought.
It's their fault, because they accept the default settings most of the time and don't care about improving their phone by themself, by optimizing settings, disable useless/unused features and remove all that bloatware and spyware crap.
Also with a good custom rom most of these problems are solved anyway, even by default if the developer did the optimization for you... lazy ass
Maybe start with something like that:
Activate Beast Mode on Galaxy S7

ps: can't post full links yet with this acc. lol
Excellent CPU ,OS,RAM optimization
superb performance,I am fully satisfied

I have had my Pixel for 1 month, absolutely no Wifi nor touchscreen issues. But its cpu seems to perform worse than expected. Lately I'm getting laggy experiences and sometimes the app hangs, especially on Chrome, Android settings menu, ES file explorer and MX player.
I did some tests with geekbench 3 and it always gives between 1290-1350 single core score and 3600-4000 multicore score http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/5646267 . It's way under the "official" scores in the internet: 1400 single and 4400 multi. This is how a proper score would look like

i do not have access to the article but off the top of my head unless it stated absolute stock a rooted pixel c could have cpu states tweaked, such as all cores to run at max frequency all the time, prior to running the benchmark which if the case would certainly outperform your device.

So setting mine to performance governor i get 1448 and 4386 so its just default interactive governor stuff really, that's getting lower result. i did the whole interactive governor tweaking like from 6p and 5x and got performance like ratings but as cheep5k8 pointed out on kernel thread that changing the governor break the powerHAL stuff and only be corrected with a reboot to no mods. so applying this is not recommended until bug is sorted in the kernel

this time, it seems good
When you buy the top notch phone that retails more than $1000 you expect to get the best performance. Not only Samsung didn't equipt the Note 10+ with the new SD885+, the new Global version of the phone comes with the Exynos 9825 that lacks in performance against the old SD855. That's not acceptable. What do you think?
The Exynos wins in single core performance and app launch time, they have comparable battery life and the SD wins in multi threaded workloads and GPU. But if you look at the 9820 vs sd855 anandtech review, the gpu is actually almost on par with the SD version and while the 9825 is very slightly overclocked it shouldnt lose this hard. Looks like an optimization issue to me rather than a raw power one. At the end of the day they perform similar in everyday use, but since more people use sd devices than exynos once they will be more optimized for games and such. Dont worry about it too much imo, yes it sucks that we got a worse version globally but its not a huge deal and definitely not a dealbreaker.
I would of thought more people used the Exynos version considering it's pretty much the entire world, while SD is mainly just north america or are samsung's sales outside America really that bad?
Pretty much to be expected as always.
I guess that optimization will improve the 9825 but not sure if it will make it to the SD855 performance. AFAIK Samsung can't use the Exynos chip in the USA because of patent protections so they using SD's. At least they should sell the Exynos version cheaper...
I Think that it's about time I stop buying an exynos note. It performs way worse than the snapdragon variant 3rd year in a row.
For me it is a deal breaker.
A phone asking 1000+ $ and flagged as flagship must have the latest soc, fact.
But....they wouldn't dare putting 855+ in comparison with the exynos9825 that maybe can compete with the almost 2 years old 845 soc. Really a shame.
No upgrading for me, sticking to my note9 and waiting for a proper flagship with flagship specs, means 855+ soc.
I already bought the Note 10+ Exynos before I knew it was inferior to the SD version. But if the next samsung flagship will not fix this, it will be the last Exynos device I'm buying maybe the last Samsung device altogether.

Well, aside from performance, if you are into rooting your device, the SD is pretty much not a choice unless you get the Hong Kong version. AFAIK, the only fully rootable version is the Exynos. I personally, would never consider the locked down version of the SD just based on principle. If I own the device and pay over $1000, I want to be the judge of what I can and can't do to it. It's like buying a Ferrari and being told the insurance company has disabled parts of it and it won't drive more than 60 mph. Weather you actually root or not becomes irrelevant. It's the principle.

I have no issues with the Exynos, it runs smoothly, performance is perfectly acceptable, yes the 855 might be slightly better in certain areas, but I think its marginal.....

In my last 3 phones from Samsung I didn't feel the need to root so that not a deal breaker for me. If you pay for Ferrari you don't want to end up with Maserati
Have you seen the battery on exynos version. https://youtu.be/RTezwqJgo5M
7 h and 47 min on gaming and rec 4k 60fp. Beat all competitors flagship without p30 pro Exynos is awesome even if is surpass in performance. Lets be real. Exynos will manage anything we drop at him no matter what.Battery is important. And so far by youre complains on xda compare to exynos sd is a failure.

I saw this test, but I didn't see the SD version tested. Also I have no problem to sacrifice some battery time for more performance (within reason).
I backup my opinion with my eperience. 1 day with note 10+ exynos version. Litle bit waze, 1h talk, 7 h youtube, 1/2 4g 1/2 wifi, some 3d attemp, heavy usage. Phenomenal battery. Exynos from s10+ and note 10+ is a win.
