Hi my friend is having various issues with his 7T I am able to help him, but as the title suggests, what is the system partition size? For him when he factory reset the system is showing its taking 30gb from his 128gb. As I have the 7 Pro and not the 7T I don't know if this is normal?
Any help is appreciated, just to answer the above .........:good:
27gigs for me so we can say it is normal. But i don't think they should need that much tbh :/
Mine is 27GB as well, seems very high indeed.
Now it's 28GB
Excuse me wtf
because oneplus 7t has a recovery partition so you can avoid problems

exactly !
System OTA zip is 2.5 GB. So are there over 10 Copies of old Systems ?!
(And LOS Androids are around 400-800 MB).
So it's just crazy.
Not that I'm running out of storage soon, but that's just about the principle.
I wont accept that some Android OS reserves 28GB for itself.
I can have dual boot Windows and Linux on my computer on that storage space ...
I found another first thread, where I posted/ranted about that, too

But ranting and joking aside, this 28GB System partition provides really ZERO additional value compared to my previous 10GB System partition on the OP6.
So I hope there will be a way to shrink that to some sensible size ...

Looking at my storage, the system partition is 26GB but the actual used space is a small amount of that ~8GB or so. It's mostly empty. Odd.
My guess is it is so big to allow the update to be unzipped and flashed even if you have the phone full otherwise. Remember iPhones used to not update due to not enough space to unzip the update file.

If this is the reason I'd be amazed - they'd be fixing a problem that isn't widespread.
The Op7t has no real system partition. It's so "big" in theory because it's thats maximum space that can be allocated within the super lun0 partition (super partition contains system, vendor, odm and product partitions).
See details over here : https://source.android.com/devices/tech/ota/dynamic_partitions/implement

That makes sense. However is this super partition fixed size or itself is dynamic? If it is fixed then oneplus is definitely over-allocated it, thus wasting space.

1) I went to setting, and check the disk space free for the phone, adding up the disk space used, and free space, I only have 250MB in my phone? Why? How do I see 512MB in my phone?
2) How do I make the SD card the place to install all applications? like making it default?
3) When an application has been installed onto the phone; it says "30MB on Phone" and I hit the button "move to SD", and after moving, it says "140kb on SD" - what happen? Does it mean that it couldn't move the application from phone to SD? Or file size reported incorrectly?

Wrong Thread. You have to post your question in here:
HD2 Android Q&A and General
1)And also this is a stupid question!
If you flash a Rom in NAND then your free memory will not be 512MB because the Rom you flashed takes up your NAND space to start the system and start working! Logically!!!!!
2) If the Rom supports a2sd or data2ext then you can install several apps in SD card to save space.
3)Another stupid question. Well this is Normal.
There are several applications that can move to SD to save some Internal memory. Not all applications can move there though because you may corrupt them e.t.c.
misunderstanding of question (1)
my phone should have 512mb in there; after installing MIUI + apps to the NAND; a quick calculation total (used + free = 250MB only!)
what happen to the rest? (512mb - 250mb = 262Mb)
Download Titanium Backup from Market press on Overview and you will see your 512Mb space along with Free space and such!
okay, let me try

please bang your head in the wall and search google, this ain't your personal forums for finding if your phone is defective or not.
as for your case, your phone is normal, please keep in mind, hd2 is not native android phone, we are still running on the os.nb partition on windows phone (atleast on clk, dunno abt magldr as its closed source)and within that partition, we have other partitions for kernel, recovery, settings and cache.
so please stop posting such idiotic questions. and just try to think or atleast google before wasting our time and getting flamed upon by some stranger.
i know that google is our friend; but for a person who follows the miui tutorial to flash the rom into the device,
how could we have known what is going on? and what search terms to search?
FYI, I've tried searching for someone who has asked the same questions in xda, but couldn't find it,

Remove the original 16G EMMC, read the BIN file with a dedicated device. Methods refer to the PRO version of the modified SSD. and then modify the BIN file EFI partition table, 2 locations. Will change the FRISTPART.BIN and LADTPART.BIN by the new EMMC size to write in different locations. Install back, start to do factory reset

By Security Sectors I mean that the Shield TV has managed to survive being a Widevine L1 Device. You can check this by installing DRM Info (From the PlayStore). You'll either retain the L1 Status, or you'll find yourself degraded down to L3.
The practical upshot of all this is if you want to ever use, or plan on ever using either Amazon, or Netflix, than you'll need to be at Widevine L1. As Widevine L3 will not play anything at all from such services.

Ok Image Frog, was confused on my part with ImageShack. Which now requires you to login. So that's likely right out. A quick shufti for free Image Hosting on Google did however turn this up.
https://imgsafe.org
The only problem with that method though is you have to copy paste the links into a Notepad Page. If your gonna want to link to them over multiple Boards. As these Hosts tend to be more fire, and forget hosters.
On a slightly different train, you could also host those Pics from within your own Google Drive. Should you wish to retain whatever control over those Images.

Because it does come with 32 GB of built in storage. But if course with nothing that has any storage you wrong ever get the full capacity. In the case of every smartphone and other computer, part of that storage is already occupied by the system and its programs. And the only way to change anything would be to remove the OS but then you just have a useless brick. You should learn stuff like that before asking those questions. Or what do you think where the OS lives?

The installation file is just 1.5 GB. All inflated, installed and compiled is roughly 10 GB big. But that's not much for an operating system. iOS takes up about the same space, Windows even more. Just think about what needs space. The system partition with all the system apps (Google apps alone are already about 700mb only as apk files. Installed is most likely more), cache partition, bootloader, recovery, kernel, OS and much more. And it most likely includes some extra space that's empty at the moment but part of partitions you can't install apps to to have enough free space for future versions since with about every major update the OS becomes a bit bigger. Otherwise the installation process would need to include some form of dynamic partition size changing like it was included in windows mobile but probably wouldn't be that safe

I thought that's logic... Sure, they could ship it as a 10 GB image, but not everywhere you have fast unlimited internet speed. That's why even Microsoft leaned to make Delta updates for the big upgrades that only contain stuff that changed. That's why OTAs are mostly under a GB with the security patches taking only a few dozen MB

Unfortunately, the phone barely has free space, the strangest thing is that the available space even after deleting all the deletable apps, deleting cache, and running the DELETE DUMPSTATE/LOGCAT thing, is a bit less of 1 GB. Here I show some screenshots of how the space has been used, note that currently there are only 23,3 MB of free space
I even tried a hard reset, thinking that it would delete some unwanted and hidden files, but it didn't help.
Is there any problem with this phone? or does it really have so little available internal space? I know that this phone has an SD card inserted, but this little space available doesn't even allow to update the apps.
Thanks

Yes, this phone has very little space available, the OS takes more than half of those 8 GB this phone claims to have.
You can set up the SD as adoptable storage via rooting (with an app called Rooting Essentials) and it does help a little bit, but don't expect it to help you install too many apps because not all apps can be moved to adoptable storage.

I spent more than 2 days to root this phone (g532F nothing different), well I would say it is almost impossible. Since now I've learned that latest official OS can't be rooted, it requires samsung tools pro at least V27.4 which is impossible to find the functional one (you know what I mean).. I tried everything else it either get in bootloop or freeze anyway. Well I used couple of android devices with root but this one made me really pissed off.
All we need to do is rooting the device and making available adoptable storage, that's all. But it is not that easy.. For this phone really I would say go to hell samsung..

If you have Magisk, you could try this module: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/4078731/ (look for its latest version on page #7).
It helped me solve a similar problem on another device -- a tablet, not a RN8.

Looks like it's a problem from PixelOS rom, I tried to use another rom and format sdcard it works fine.
Thank you everyone for helping me
Partition your SD Card for installing apps and storing other files at same time.
Make sure you have a root shell. If not, root your device with Magisk first.
Start a terminal, and run su to switch to root shell ($-->#) .
Partition your sdcard. Follow the instructions below.
1. Check your sdcard number.
Code:
sm list-disks adoptable
You will get the output like this:
Remember the disk number for further use.
2. Run the partition command to seperate your sd card space. Some space are used to store apps and their data. And the rest space keeps as external sdcard space.
Use this command to seperate your sd card:
Code:
sm partition "disk_number" mixed "reserved_percent"
Replace "disk_number" with your real disk number. Also you can control how much space goes for storing apps and their data and how much you want to reserved. For example you want 70% of SD Card for storing apps and 30% for original external storage, then "reserved_percent" is 30.
Code:
Example 2: Want 60% of sdcard goes to store apps, 40% as external storage.
sm partition "disk number" mixed 40
Press ENTER to execute your command. All data on your sdcard will be destroyed. Back up all data on sdcard first if needed.
Right now the sdcard has the ability to store apps. Move your apps to sdcard as you like.
Voila!
EDIT: I made a detailed guide here. Check it for more details. Press "like" button if helped you.

Just face the same problem as you. Tried some custom roms looks like only Android 11 have this issue. Wondering if you rollback to Android 10 to avoid this?
