Can I flash a UK firmware onto a German model? - LG G8 Questions & Answers

I have the LMG810EAW.ADECMB model of the phone, as well as firmware which is intended for the UK model (LMG810EAW.AGBRMB). If I flash the UK firmware over the German model, will it brick the phone? Or does the DEC/GBR in the model number only refer to the language of the firmware installed?

Is possible, but with LG UP 1.16.0.4 which is not leaked yet.

At the present time you can't cross flash to a different rom as the device is locked at the variant you have, LGUP will not work because of the IMPL lock

On LG V40 forum, lgup thread.

I tried this anyway with LGUP_Lab_Frame_Ver_1_16_0_3 (unpatched I think) and DLL 1.0.40 and it worked first time. The model info page just shows my model as "LMG810EAW", minus the ".AXXXMB" part at the end. The only time that was shown was on a sticker on the box. So i'm guessing there isn't any differeence between the UK & German firmware, except maybe default language or something.

It is available for download, I downloaded it and the associated dll for the G8, but it doesn't work to cross flash to a different firmware because of the IMPL lock, someone else on here said it worked but hard bricked his device because of the lock, so just beware of that before you try to flash a different rom

Well it worked for me, although both old & new firmwares had the same parent model (LMG810EAW), just suffixed with a different region.

It sucks that LG when to these lengths to block us from cross flashing =/.

Hi man, i just was wondering about doing the same.
I have recently bought a German LG G8s with DEC in the name. I thought it had the Quad DAC since before i bought i saw confusing posts.
Most of them say that the UK version has Quad DAC and the German doesnt. But both are the same model as you already wrote: LMG810EAW.
So i compared the official pages on lg.de and lg.uk and thers the difference lg.uk says quad dac, lg.de says nothing about it. I believe it is the same hardware, just software lock (possibly due to some licensing fees only paid for UK by LG).
https://www.lg.com/uk/mobile-phones/lg-LMG810EAW 32-bit Hi-Fi DAC / DTS:X 3D Surround Sound DTS: X 3D surround with three audio profiles Meridian Audio 10-band equalizer with 13 presets plus one customizable Headphone jack 3.5mm
https://www.lg.com/de/smartphones/lg-G8S-ThinQ-black DTS-X 3D Surround, Stereo Lautsprecher
Can you please Check under Sound Quality and Effects if you have under external audio options like Quad hifi-dac?
i have attached a picture of the g8s and my old g7 thinq on this page, the g7 having the options, the g8s not having these.
If you have those options on your g8s with gbr flashed, than its most certainly just a software lock and anyone who wanted could flash the LMG810EAW with the GBR localized software to get quad dac options on the non UK versions.
Thanks

You picture shows two different phones... The one on the left is the LG G8s ( which doesn't have the DAC ) and on the right the LG G8( which has the DAC ) . Two completely different phones......

Yes, I looked...[emoji16]
This is the normal DAC from the 810 series.
No Quad DAC. Read it carefully...[emoji6]

LG G8S or LMG810, LM-G810 and LMG810EAW do not mention quad dac, only this:
DTS: X 3D surround with three audio profiles Meridian Audio 10-band equalizer with 13 presets plus one customizable Headphone jack 3.5mm - Yes 1W speaker located on the underside of the smartphone
No quad DAC mentioned at all.
LG G8 or LMG820 and its variations (all of them?) do have quad DAC.

New Update

Got a new update for my K10-420ds. Just added an emergency button on power off screen a narrower notification panel and just some tweaks and supposedly updates to 5.1.1. I think this might be the final update for this phone. Just wanted to let you know. Does this mean that now the bootloader is unlock able?

I am sorry but what you are trying to say is Snap 410 models of K10 are gonna be updated to Nougat? I've seen the article but upon asking the same to the CC, they just say that they are not allowed the disclose unlike Samsung who just said that my J7 Prime is gonna get a Nougat update and If at all they are gonna release an update for K10's, it would definitely be for the MTK models. I dont know to any extent but is it really possible to directly upgrade from Lollipop to Nougat. Just not so knowledgable in this Upgrade stuff.

Yup this update N would be for MTK variants only. Why? because the LGk10 2017 is MTK variant only. Probably the Nougat which is built-in in 2017 will just ported to MTK 2016 variant like k430dsy

No not true bro. Most of the Qualcomm based phones have higher RAM like K420DS (Indian Variant) has 2 GB RAM and I believe that they will release Nougat for Qualcomm too.
As you know they always release new updates to Korean variants first.
Korean variants are : F670L,S etc. They have Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 same as other Qualcomm models except LG MS428. So I believe strongly it will be released for Qualcomm soon!

Download app "AIDA 64" tap on cpu, and you will have listed cpu socket.
And no you will most likely not get nougat, none of 2016 models will. Specially mediatek versions, because of they are mediatek.

Because you don't launch next generation of phones if you are going to update software on last generation. Especially when is case of mid-range phones. Mid range phones are made to 'be' one year, then new generation comes up with new software and so on.. One more thing, phones that aren't flagships and have mtk chipset - the one that got any software update are rare (you can say that isn't any out there)

But wouldn't you think that that Snapdragon editions would feature at least 7.0? I mean some of the components that make the 2017 K10 "new" aren't involving the software. It's mainly the hardware. A fingerprint sensor, better battery, and expanded ram are what would pull for an upgrade. I agree that the MTK variants are out of the question, but I feel like nougat isn't to far of a stretch for the Snapdragons

Yes, there are new hardware things, but not big deal only fingerprint sensor the rest is just better version so it handles nougat smooth. I don't think that they will give nougat for just a half or ¼ devices (I don't know how many % are snapdragon versions) that's logic you must agree.

You can't compare any nexus or pixel device to any other phone when it's about software especially how long they maintains it.

The first LG K10 2017 variant has MTK SoC and Mali GPU thats why I think they just gonna release it first on MTK 2016 variant. Well good luck for all of us with this rumors I wish Android N had no compatibility issue with some previous games and wish it can have root access also.

Yes you can have nougat on k10 but only if you buy 2017 K10
Seriously now, since there is next gen of K series there is 0,001% chance of getting nougat, besides that there is K10's with mtk chipset which is know for not getting too much updates.

Actually, I've been following up on the news for the 2017 K10. Its only been released in india as of now, and looking at some other phones which had a similar lifetime (being recreated with the same name), it's possible that companies like at&t may not sell this phone. And if that's the case, then the likelihood of a nougat update (from said companies) is great. Offering a low budget phone like the K10 that has the latest OS is a great way to improve sales. I also don't thinks it's a fair assumption to say that there's a 0.001% chance. At&T just updated the g5 this last week.

LG V30+ H930DS Update (V10i-DEC-30-2017)

I just checked the update and there's an update for my H930DS (Indonesia/IDN), its V10i-DEC-30-2017. Does anyone already had installed this update? How's the update compare to the previous version (V10f), what are the improvements here? Especially the battery life?
Update: link to download (for H930DS Indonesia ROM)

Dont forget to change user agent if you download using browser to:
LGE-ActiveDP/0.9
The same update seems to have been pushed out to H930DS phones for the HKG firmwares.
Interestingly, for these phones the version number is v11m - this is the first time I've seen LG use 11 in a firmware version.
(the firmware is Android 7.1.2 with the January security update)

Is it the same size as the IDN firmware update? only security update or is there any improvement? I dont want to screw up the-currently-great-battery-life. My previous LG G4 had better battery life before the latest update.
In India, we got the same update few day ago and it's just a security patch update which will bump it to January. And the battery backup remains the same.
Our updated version is V10d-IND
Just got this update on my V30+. Says V11m-DEC-29-2017
Size 773.87mb.
Not sure what phone usability and functionality has been improved. Would be nice to have a detailed explanation.

Biggest change in 1 January update is Netflix HDR video fix, now Netflix works fine for me on my LG V30+ H930DS HKG version. that was only complaint I had with V30 cuz I bought for multimedia. Camera on V30 is crap, worst on any 2017 flagship phone but I can live with that as I've also Pixel 2 XL and iPhone X.

I'm experiencing the same issue on G7 Thinq and suspected the USB-C to HDMI cable. Is this really just not supported on the G7? They're trying to force us to use a streaming device by excluding this very basic and reliable functionality?

LG has disabled this feature by software.
As you can see in the attached screen, the smartphone detect a displayport adapter, but the tv out is disabled via software.
I have been researching into the kernel source, and I have discovered how they have disabled this feature, I have uploaded the hdmi_Kconfig file from LG v30, and Samsung Galaxy S9, both of them support HDMI out, and LG G7.
There you can see waht I have explained.
If it would have some developeres interested in this device, they could take back this feture to LG G7.
usb c to hdmi cable
When it comes to technology, I think I'm pretty up to date but I was a little behind the curve when it came to HDMI cords and cell phones. I absolutely love my Samsung S8+ and being able to watch videos that I have recorded, pictures I've taken on my television has opened me to a whole new world...... use easyacc usb c to hdmi cable watched movies from my Netflix app from my phone on the television screen. I'm stoked if you can't tell!!!

So now, is there any developer who had successfully unlocked this feature?

The feature is directly disabled in the kernel. While we have the kernel the source doesn't work.
So does this mean there is a way to enable this feature on the g7. I just updated from an iPhone and have no wifi where I play videos etc for my students. I had the adapter for the smart phone and bought one to fit the USB c but when I plug it in to the HDMI it only charges does not show the screen

Hello!
I am interested in enabling hdmi also.
Any news?
I'm offering a reward! ?
Hi guys, it must be rooted the phone for make the change in the kernel to activate the feature? Or there is an alternative way to enable it?
There is no way to enable it at the moment.
Snapdragon 845 have HDMI as option- vendor have to open HDMI with paid key (same as Windows Home to Windows Pro). Qualcom understand the power of money.
So it is a SW issue-but You can't just change n to y in kernel. It's a clear case for LG. Maybe they can offer a paid solution - but I doubt it.

It seems someone with g710ulm on v10i firmware has managed to connect with a TV using this lenovo usbc to DisplayPort adapter 4X90Q93303.
Can someone with this firmware confirm this? ???

Is there any difference between the DACs in LG G8 and G7?

Is there any difference between the DACs in LG G8 and G7?
Yes as one is housed in a G7 and the other in a G8
Hello, if it's different, apparently. LG confirmed that an improvement in the 3.5 mm output was achieved in the G8 and V50.

The only thing they say is that the people of LG told them that they improved the Quad DAC with respect to the V40

The difference is that now QuadDAC is used to maximize DTS:X to produce full range stereo surround sound
Also the speaker on v50 is more powerful than v40, 1.3watt boombox + 0.7watt RAS (Receiver Aided Speaker). While g8 has 2.1 channel CSO (dual transducers) + boombox
FYI, LG g3 & g4 had 1watt loudspeaker, and it was super powerful
i'm one of those weird guys who uses a usb dac with various overpriced high impedance headphones and i actually do like enabling the QuadDac with said high impedance headphones.
however, that DTS X 3D thing is horrible and i leave it off. sure i feel surrounded, but it sounds like vocals are coming through at a very low bitrate. maybe i need some different source files that make proper use of it?

Yes, I've noticed the DAC on the G8 has a clearer more cleaner sound than that of the LG G7

(Q-HELP) - Advice needed regarding root & specs for a new LG phone purchase

Hi everyone ,
Looking for a new (2018-19) LG model, either global or EU version, that's currently getting development for custom roms and root with following specs:
1. Dual sim 2. Quad Dac 3. Fm radio 4. C-type usb 5. MIL-STD-810G compliant - IP68 and 6. If possible, also wireless charging.
I'd really appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this quest. Kinda troublesome with all these new models LG has brought out in the market .

The V50 's kinda exceeding my budget. I was thinking of somewhere around 300-350$ or less ofc.
Btw ,if my understanding from my readings here is correct, is that the G7 ThinQ is actually supporting the above mentioned requirements, right?

As I said , the v50 is above my budget, plus it's screen size is a bit too big for my taste and it doesn't have FM radio. So, to repeat my question, does the G7 ThinQ current custom rom development support all specs of the device? For e.x. is the dual SIM spec working, among others ?
Or are there any other LG dual SIM devices fully supported?
