I think its because the uploaded apk is for android 4.2. What rom are you using and what android version?
Apparently, you have to type or say " OK Maps" in the search bar to view offline maps.
OP- the download worked for me. Thank you.

I had to uninstall this update. Its missing my maps functions. I use my PC to route my 16-20 stops and save my map. Then I use my maps to navigate the city. With Google! It makes it almost unusable for me. Or did I miss something? I looked in all the menus and didn't find.

From the blog post:
"My Maps functionality is not supported in this release but will return to future versions of the app."
I'd post the link, but haven't had enough posts yet.

Yea I was disappointed at first when I found the same problem, but this seems to be the answer to this for the time-being. It doesn't allow as wide a view when caching, it seems I can just barely get all of NYC into one screen anymore without being told to zoom in.

Installed perfectly on my UK HTC One. Lovely, many thanks!
Thanks for this, mate! :good: Works good on both my nexus devices! But just so everyone knows this is still partly (Nav & certain other stuff) in beta Guess they are really dumping Latitude just like they did with Reader. Good move on their part though. Never really found it that useful anyways :victory:
Loving the update... Thanks a ton!
This APK doens't install on my Gnexus with SlimBean v7, can anyone help me?
Thanks!
Looks good, but needs to re-add the navigation icon on my drawer!

I wonder if they did this intentionally, since the new map app directions look similar to new navi just not green at the top, also don't see any navi installed, so it could be built in to the maps app.
Anyone else have keyboard cut off issues in landscape mode?
Otherwise it's a good update.
I'm also finding the new saved "ok maps" feature actually loads up much quicker, even when zooming in/out, likely since the save file is of a much smaller area.

Navigation has always been built into the Maps app, they just removed a shortcut.

Well if built in meant there was a button that launched another app then yes it was there previously.
But then now we'd also have to say Google earth is built in to the new maps app since it is listed under the side slide menu, yet still launches a separate app, which needs to be installed.
Hi all,
When I looked at my phone this morning, GT-N7100, I noticed an empty gap where the blue arrow of the Navigation App used to be.
The app itself seems to be gone too.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
Did Samsumg somehow discontinue the app?
Can it be uninstalled without me doing anything or knowing about it?
What am I missing here?
Hope someone can help.
Best,
Jan

What is the name of the app and it will not automatically remove or uninstall it
It's called Navigation and it's a standard app. The one with the blue arrow as an icon.

It was gone suddenly.
Samsung says it's not possible and recommends to reset and start from scratch.

Reflashing the most recent stock ROM (with Odin) didn't bring it back either.
Look in your app drawer. If it's not there, go into the Play store and try to re-download Google Maps. This is part of their map application.
Failing that,
press menu button,
press settings,
press application manager,
scroll down to maps, press it
Press, clear cache,
press clear data,
press force stop,
press uninstall.
It may ask if you wish to go back to previous version.
Reboot.
Then go into Play store, reinstall Maps, or if it tells you there's an update, let it update.
Hopefully that will work.

Went back to the factory version. Rebooted and updated again.
Still no Navigation App.
Thanks though.

Maps updated to 7.0.1.
Navigation is still gone.
Navigation has gone in the new maps.
I updated yesterday now instead of pressing 1 icon typing the address then off I go I have to press at least 5 differe t things to get the same result.
Just sent feedback via Google+
Not pleased by this. It's a backward step.

So Navigation really IS gone???
I always used text to speech to select the destination.
Samsung still wants me to go back to factory settings because Navigation should still be there.
Confused!

Yep in the new maps the stand alone navigation icon has gone!
And there are more presses just to get to the start point!
Bad move by Google.

Thanks for replying so fast.
So a Maps update just removed Navigation?
Samsung says it comes with the ROM and can not be uninstalled.
Is Samsung wrong? How can they not know about this?
So all the features Navigation was offering are gone?
Jan
the new maps includes the navigation, just open maps as normal, click the arrow in the upper right and enter your target and you´ll be fine

Thank!
It's totally different, but it works.
A lot of features got added.
No one touch voice input anymore, but still.
Funny thing is that when I uninstalled all Maps updates for the second time and went back to the system version, after rebooting I had the Navigation icon back.
I put the blue arrow icon on my home screen.
After updating Maps, the blue arrow icon remained on the home screen. It's not in the apps list anymore however.
Very weird.
Jan
It can still be added to home as a custom shortcut if you use a 3rd party launcher that supports adding "activities" I suspect google will put it back soon as your average joe wont understand how to access it in maps.

I use Nova Launcher, which lets me add activities!
I found Navigation under Maps, so the blue arrow is back! Thanks!
It does the same as tapping the arrow in the top right windows in Maps.
So it only saves you one tap.
Still glad I found it because of your tip.
Thanks again.

Does anyone have the weather app on the default home screen? All of the pics and reviews I have seen show the weather app in the top right corner of the home screen. That is supposed to open up the google weather app when you tap it. Mine is just showing the date and time and does nothing on tap. I haven't found any sort of setting to turn that on / off. This page shows exactly what I'm talking about,

Cool, thanks! I'll give that a shot now.
YEP!! That worked. Nice find!
In case anyone else is having this issue, I had weather cards turned off in Google now. Enabled it, and the weather came up. Guess same goes if you'd rather have the clock, disable weather updates.
Maybe I'm being stupid, but I have a pixel xl,and can see in settings my default launcher is pixel launcher, but cannot find it in app store to see if there's an update and it doesn't show on app store under apps I have installed list.
And cannot see weather like the others couldn't in this thread before updating
I went to play store and searched "pixel launcher". A few of my Google apps were not showing under updates, but I found them and updated them by searching "google" in the store.
I can't get weather to show up on the home screen either. Just clock.
Edit: looks like I had weather cards turned off too. Turned them on, still no weather. Maybe it will show up later though.

There were like three cards I turned on. Then searched and updated launcher in store. Restart. Then it showed up.
I still had one weather card turned off. Turned it on, refreshed the Google now tiles, and voila weather appeared on desktop.

This was a common issue with a lot of the Moto apps as well. You had to manually search for them in order to get updates (Moto Display, Moto, etc). I have no idea why but it can be kind of confusing.
[edit] Just tried manual searching again. Contacts, Wallpapers, Calculator, and Phone all had updates that wouldn't show. This is lame.
Funny enough I came across that post and I was driving myself crazy trying to find how to enable that.
Just search pixel launcher in the play store and update the app.. I did that and it worked just fine like all the reviews I had been seeing

Ok why can I not see Pixel Launcher in Google Play, either on my laptop or my Pixel XL ?
Is this a region thing something for Americans only ?
Found searching for the Pixel Launcher I can install it.
Installed it but I see no Pixel Launcher in my application tray.
I assume Pixel Launcher is running, after a few hours I did get the weather on my home screen.
It seems a little mickey mouse like for a Google product but I searched google on play store and found several things like pixel launcher and wallpapers that by themselves didn't show up needing an update but doing that they did. After a minute or two my pixel weather started working. P.S. I tried and contacted google and no response.

Search Pixel Launcher in the Play Store from a PC. It'll show up and you can install it to your Pixel.
I am in Canada and it says Pixel Launcher is not available in my country when I open the play store on my phone. Did it the PC route and it is working perfectly.

Could you screenshot me where to turn them on, I just can't get it working...
Thanks in advance!
Got my Pixel today. Was going nuts looking for an option all over the place to get weather instead of time. For me weather cards and notifications were already enabled so all I did was update Pixel Launcher via the store and then refresh Google Now (or whatever it's called now) by pulling down at the top of the feed. Thanks guys!
Question, I want to get rid of the Google search bar, looks like the Pixel launcher is the key.
I have found a couple apk files to install the pixel launcher on my 5x, BUT I want to know if:
1) my phone needs to be rooted
2) will installation of the pixel launcher on a 5x affect functionality of any other apps or the UI itself
3) is there another way to get rid of the search bar without having to do this?
Google search bar is a built-in function of the default Google Now Launcher. Changing launcher with another one which doesn't have the bar is the easiest way to remove it. Of course your phone doesn't need to be rooted, you can install the launcher apk just like every other apk. The installation of a different launcher affects just the home screen, it's a stand-alone app and you can remove it whenever you want.
ok great thanks.
I thought I had read that installing the pixel launcher will cause my Google feed/now to not work. and I use it alot to read articles/see my traffic/etc

Google feed is also part of the Google Now Launcher, but I think it's present in the Pixel launcher too. Just give it a try
probably stupid question, but do I need to uninstall google now launcher to install the pixel launcher?
It is present, but only In flashed version (Root needed) - apparently it has to be System app.
On the plus side - if you flash it, Google sees your Nexus as Pixel so you have unlimited storage In Google photos
(Edit: you can have Google now feed even In Pixel launcher from apk, just not when you swipe right - it is available through long press of home button)

Nope. After having installed another launcher when you'll press the home button the system will ask what launcher to use as default.
Don't worry about installing it, it's not a critical thing. It's just a normal application

I'll need to check out that Nova, I do rely on Google Now Launcher for weather, traffic, and news alot, so messing with that isnt appealing, BUT if I can make the Nova look like Pixel and work like the current Now launcher, I am all in.

mind blown
What I dont understand is why Google keeps the search bar in Portrait mode, but switches to the small circular buttons for both google search and voice in Landscape
To me the small buttons in landscape are a very nice design and is better than the pixel.
Oh well.....
i have tried multiple variants from APKMirror for Google phone app but i always end up with "App not installed" Error.
i have installed a theme from the Themes app called Pixel Oreo, not quite stock but still looks better than stock MiUI skin. Also i'm using live wallpapers ported from Google Pixel 2 with Nova Launcher Prime on top with a config that i found online to make it look somewhat like OnePlus and/or Pixel (i confused myself...) and also an icon pack that i bought from the Playstore, its called "Minimal Oreo" which i quite like, honestly.
So my device looks like this as of now:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
not as stock as i'd like it to be but.. meh.
Notifications panel thanks to the Theme.
So this is what i want help with. 1. Nova launcher is gets quite laggy at times so any better launchers that look like stock or any modded/ported version of Pixel or OnePlus launcher that are compatible with Redmi note 5 Pro would be great.
2. i have triend countless variants of google phone app and i just cant get it to install on my phone, "App not installed" error no matter what version i'm installing. Old, New, Beta, armv7a, arm64-v8a etc.. i don't know what else to do..
Uhhh.. bump?

I'm loving the Launcher and theme combo! but i'm still nowhere with the google dialer.. still i'm unable to install official APKs and the thread you linked me has APKs that work but as you mentioned, call feed does not work. i downloaded 5 different versions from multiple websites including the thread you linked but ALL of them have not working call logs, i gave each of them all permissions and made them my default contacts and phone app in the settings but still no logs. can you attach the version that has them working please?

Unfortunately, this is a known issue in MIUI, no one got call log working in stock MIUI with any version of google dialer.

If I unlock the bootloader and flash the Google Dialer Framework thing, will that get fixed then?

I'm not 100% sure, some says that installing framework zip file or installing a magisk module would make it fully working, but i didn't try that before in miui so i can't confirm.
The launcher to use is lawnchair launcher
