I don't know why, I've always felt the earpiece volume on my RN5P to be a bit on the lower side. I'm currently on Masik Pie. How do I increase the earpiece volume, I don't mind tinkering around with system files, if that's what's required.
In my case, if the sound becomes weak, it is because of the dirt. So I use a needle to prick the loudspeaker grill to clean it. The sound is strong and clear again after this manipulation. And I have to do it regularly.

Same case is with me
one solution comes with custom kernel (every). than in kernel manager there is option earphone gain... when set to max, your head will explode..

Have a VZW TP2 running the 12.06.09 build of MightyROM.
Even on it's lowest setting I am finding the handset earpiece to be a little too loud for my taste.
Seem to be able to find tweaks (AudioPara and the like) to make it louder, but nothing to decrease the volume.
Played with the AudioPara3.csv files in the Windows Dir (VZW TP2 has 5 different versions)... adjusted the CodecRxGain and RxVolume levels downwards and got the earpiece to where I want.
Could not seem to get the speakerphone lower... c'est la vie.
Hi,
I have the same problem, except that I have a WWE stock rom. My earpiece is also way too loud when in-call even even the volume set to the lowest possible level.
How did you manage to decrease it? Pls share it, Thx.
Up!Up!Up!!
This describes the method a bit more, but I haven't tried it yet:

It's like magic!
Duct tape.
Rip ya a piece 'bout this long |__________| and this wide |___|
Apply liberally and aggressively to the top of the face of your phone.
Alternatively/additionally, if that doesn't work...rip off another piece, same size, roll it inbetween your thumb and forefinger 'till it's a small ball, shiny-side out (trust me on this), and stuff it in the ear canal (yours, not somebody else's) that's closest to the phone.
Who says it can't solve everything...?
That's a big LOL!

Everything in the title.
I read somewhere that the dual speakers are not stereo. Is that true!?

There are dual speakers. Some websites have false info or they are too lazy to fix it. They also list OIS, but the phone does not have OIS. It was stated by google that the camera has other featuers which is why it doesn't need OIS.

Single front-facing speaker
There are 2 speakers for sure, but did they play in stereo together or just 2 mono?

From the nexus 5x product page:

Single front-facing speaker
3 microphones (1 front, 1 top, 1 bottom) with noise cancellation

Only the nexus 6p has true front facing speakers
Proper etiquette aside (hint: don't use speakerphone while doing your "business" in a public bathroom), rate this thread to express how you think the OnePlus 3T's speakerphone performs. A higher rating indicates that you love it: it's loud and it's clear.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Average. I find it lacking in vehicle at speed. I would think that in the year 2016 (almost 2017) that high volume would be an option on all devices
Same like iPhone , I got iPhone 6s plus and sound the same but one plus 3 you can go further +20 % but it will distort the sound , if you wish to sound like iPhone 6s plus go on oneplus 3t to 80-85% and it will be equal .
Anyone knows how does it compares with LG G5 speaker?

My speaker can go very very loud. I was surprised since I come from a phone with dual front-facing speakers (MotoG2) and expected the sound on the 3T to be quieter with the bottom facing solo speaker.
Anyone used a Oneplus 2 and can compare the speaker with that? I found the speaker on oneplus 2 fairly low. Thanks
IMO the oneplus 2 was louder
Didn't use the OP2 but I did put the OPO side by side to both the original 3 and the 3T and the 3/3T were appreciably louder and without distortion (the two's speakers were identical).
I cannot possibly imagine wanting it to be any louder than that.
Clarity and audio fidelity, it's ok, not bad by any stretch of the word but certainly not exceptional.
Works great for hearing it ring and for the notifications and it's perfectly fine for playing games on the phone but it wouldn't be my preferred choice for listening to music.
IMHO the OPO's two speakers worked better for that, even if they were monaural.
Sound is louder than on Nexus 6P but is a little bit shallow. Overall not bad at all. I think it is even better than my note 7

I have a strong noise at low volume!
Im kind of disappointed with the speaker.
Not that i expected much, im just using it to watch videos sometimes.
But its much worse then the speaker on my OPO, meaning that the OPO was much clearer and sounded more powerful with the same loudness.
Im tweaking the speakers usually with viper
I saw video compare speaker a while back on youtube. The result was the G5 / Op3/t/Nexus6P/Htc10 (clear but not loud)/Samsung 7/edge.
I think it was youtube by Jerome Otega you can check it out.
I have G4 it's quite good sound with loudness and LeEco Pro3 have top and bottom speaker so it's like front facing speaker but volume a little low.
Maybe you can try app from playstore "Volume booster GOODDEV" try tweak 30-40% or 50 if it's not distort. This make my LePro3 louder to my satisfaction.
Stock speaker is pretty weak. I compare it to my Sony Z3 wich has stereo speakers. Sonys speakers was pretty good but lacked in loudness. OP3T it is loud enough but quality is very weak in higher volume. I also use Viper to improve quality. With Viper enabled speaker quality is ok.
It's loud but still somewhat tinny. However you can fix it by flashing A.R.I.S.E. Deuteronomy with Viper. The file replaces the audio driver with another; even without tinkering in Viper, the speaker gets one notch louder (quite literally one volume click louder) and the overall sound quality becomes fuller. This is what the phone's speaker should have been from the inception, so it's a 4 star for having me tinker around (fine by me but the review is on the stock phone, not after mods).
yes I strongly agree with above comment and yes speaker have loud noise
so, what is the best sound mod for op3t?
viper or viper+dolby atmos or any other mod?

Loud Noise Problem still with 4.0.3.
Compared to my previous device, HTC One m7, the sound from the speaker is terribly bad, maybe louder, but terribly bad.
Hi everyone.
I wanted to share a tip with you in regards to the Earpiece volume.
Ive been on the Mix wagon since it started with mi Mix. I was so happy with it but, so disappointed with the pizo sound technology.
I hated it; the sound was not good at all. I would always try to increase the volume during calls even though it was at max.
Then I bought the Mix 2S for my wife, the Earpiece on that device was so good I was just waiting patiently for the next Mix.
Mix 3 drops, bought at at launch. My joy wasn't for a long time though.
Tried the Earpiece and it sucked big time. I went back to always trying to increase the volume during calls even though it was at Max.
I would always ask people to speak up during calls. Am sure u did the same at one point when it's busy and crowded or if you work at a noisy place like an airport (my case).
Then I figure it out it wasn't the Earpiece - nor my Ear in case you were thinking it- it was STUPID Xiaomi with thier tin tiny holed grill piece. The front and back grill pieces are holed so tiny their easily get blocked. Hence less and less volume over time.
I had the courage to remove the front earpiece grill - FYI it was just glued-and never been more satisfied with the Mix 3. My calls volume in the middle of the bar and the voice is loud and clear.
Sorry for the long story and try it if you think u have the same issue I had.
You still make phone calls??
I have the same problem!!
Hii there!! I have the same problem!
If yo slide the phone (essentially uncover the inner earpiece), its increase the in call volume ??
Hi everyone,
I tried a stereo speaker test (youtube) and I hear that the speaker on the bottom is always a bit louder than the one on the top, no matter what volume percentage I am on. It is not really noticeable in everyday use, but I am a bit paranoid if this is normal with the phone.
Could you tell me if this is also the case with your phones as well?
Thank you in advance.
Yes, it is normal on phones with stereo speakers.
That's cos the top one is an earpiece, not actually a speaker while the bottom one is a speaker, it has those little balls in the speaker housing too to boost audio. Checkout one of JerryRigEverything's teardowns if you've never seen that before.
Normal from my OnePlus experience.

Not only OnePlus. Had s10e before and had bottom speaker louder than the top one.
