Everything in the title.
I read somewhere that the dual speakers are not stereo. Is that true!?

There are dual speakers. Some websites have false info or they are too lazy to fix it. They also list OIS, but the phone does not have OIS. It was stated by google that the camera has other featuers which is why it doesn't need OIS.

Single front-facing speaker
There are 2 speakers for sure, but did they play in stereo together or just 2 mono?

From the nexus 5x product page:
Media
Single front-facing speaker
3 microphones (1 front, 1 top, 1 bottom) with noise cancellation

Is it me or speaker sounds bad?
Do you guys think viper4android would help
I agree. Coming from a Moto X (2013) with a mono speaker on back of phone, I thought a single speaker on front couldn't be any worse. Wrong. The 5X speaker is nowhere close to the volume/sound of the Moto X. Not a deal-breaker for me, but certainly a disappointment.
It's definitely pretty terrible in comparison to the Nexus 6 I owned previously.
Alot of distortion at full volume.
It's really not that good compared to my Galaxy S5. Only good thing about it is that it's front facing.

Better than the Nexus 5 and at least it's facing in the correct direction.

Very true, that bottom speaker only on one side uggg. You had to hold the phone sideways with a cup in your hand to bounce the sound towards you.
And I agree with speaker so far doesn't sound good at higher volumes, which aren't high enough.

Is it just me or only the bottom speaker plays on the Nexus 5x, even though there are two camera up front?
5x has one speaker at bottom for media. The top speaker is for the phone. It is not a dual stereo speaker setup like the 6P.
You mean two speakers right and not cameras right? Anyway, it was stated in many hands-on and reviews that it's only one bottom speaker for media and speakerphone. It's even on their site.

Guys,
It seems that Note7 is not for recording memories at a concert
Very poor audio quality is being recorded ... brand new phone, never had any liquid contact or something to affect mic quality

It sounded fine until you zoomed in on that person wearing a banana outfit.... strange.
Works fine for me

I guess that a difference is that i was like 10-15 meters from the speakers, while you are at several hundred meters far from them.

I don't know why, I've always felt the earpiece volume on my RN5P to be a bit on the lower side. I'm currently on Masik Pie. How do I increase the earpiece volume, I don't mind tinkering around with system files, if that's what's required.
In my case, if the sound becomes weak, it is because of the dirt. So I use a needle to prick the loudspeaker grill to clean it. The sound is strong and clear again after this manipulation. And I have to do it regularly.

Same case is with me
one solution comes with custom kernel (every). than in kernel manager there is option earphone gain... when set to max, your head will explode..
I want to know which one has the better speakers? If money is no issue
thank you in advance

Both have front facing stereo speakers but I don't own both to compare side by side. The 3 XL I use is definitely good quality even when super loud. Audio problems that were identified on both devices during launch was fixed a year ago on both devices. Some ppl in their reviews on yt say that the xl while definitely louder decreases in audio quality a bit. Don't know if that's true.
so they fixed the distortion issue?
hows the left and right speaker balance? I have heard that the left "top" speaker is very quiet compared to the right "bottom" one?
I can only find speaker/audio reviews from about a year ago, so i dont know the current state of the device D:

Are the speakers imbalanced? If so is it distracting?

Yes they are imbalanced and it is by design as per Google. Same with the 3a. I don't find it distracting. Most stereo phones are going to be a bit louder on the bottom or imbalanced. Only exceptions I can think of are some of the gaming phones like the Razer 2

Only the Pixel 3 models have stereo front facing speakers, the 3A line has a earpiece/speaker and bottom firing speaker.
