Hey people, got my hands on a China ROM Note 8 Pro, MIUI version V10.4.9.0.PGGCNXM, stable
However, i'd like to switch to the Global ROM released MiFirm ( MIUI V10.4.1.0.PGGMIXM) or the one in c.mi.com (MIUI V10.3.2.0.PCOMIXM)
Question is.... will the rollback protection prevent me from doing that and how safe is it to flash Global ROM following the guide on the mi community site? Is rollback protection a thing for Redmi note 8 Pro and my current MIUI version?
I am afraid of bricking my device. Should I wait so that a ROM with a newer MIUI version than my current one?
If successfully manage to flash the Global ROM, can I in future flash custom roms if such are developed? How do I proceed on rooting the device after a new ROM is flashed
U can check your rollback levelf
fastboot getvar anti
If the current rollback index is less than the rollback index in the images to be flashed, then the images will be flashed and the current rollback index will be incremented to match the new rollback index.
If the current rollback index is equal to the rollback index in the images to be flashed, then the images will be flashed and the rollback index won’t change.
If the current rollback index is greater than the rollback index in the images to be flashed, then the images will be rejected if you’re flashing via fastboot or Mi Flash. (TWRP does not check the rollback indices before flashing, which is why nearly all bricks were the result of downgrading via TWRP.
Thank you, this helps a lot. I am currently waiting to have bootloader unlocked. If I reboot now to fastboot mode so I can check this, will I delay the process? I remember I wasn't supposed to reset the phone or log off from my MI account but I wonder about that.
Luckily i had number 1.

Hello.
I want to flash latest firmware, running Syberia ROM, but I want to know what are the differences between: FW, FW-less and FW-non-arb?
Thanks.
If you are still anti rollback (arb) 3, installing the latest firmware (FW) will update your bootloader, thus you will have arb 4.
Fw less roms come without the firmware. since there is no firmware, no way to trigger ARB.
Fw-non-arb are firmware files without the bootloader part, again no bootloader so arb will not be triggered.

Since 8.12.27 is the newest rom available you can install only FW as this would not trigger ARB (Both 9.6.4.0 and 8.12.27 are ARB4)
Hi all,
First of all please bear with me as I am a total noob when it comes to Android let alone the Redmi Note 8T I have just purchased the phone and now waiting for the 360 hours to expire. Tick tock...
So in preparation I have been looking for ways to flash my phone to the MIUI EEA ROM (I have a global version running global ROM). I know MIFlash should be able to do the trick, but it seems to me there are two types of ROM files - one for the OTA update (i.e. so you would copy the file over to the phone, then use the system update feature within the phone's setting to invoke the update process), and another type of ROM files for use by MiFlash.
Assuming this is true, so far I could only manage to find the OTA update ROM for EEA:
h<spacer>ttp<spacer>:/<spacer>/en.miui.com/download-361.html#588 (sorry new users aren't allowed to post links hence this. Please copy and delete the spacers)
Does anyone know where I could grab a copy of the EEA ROM that I could use with Mi Flash so after my phone eventually gets it bootloader unlocked, I could proceed with the switch from Global to EEA?
Or am I getting this whole concept wrong?
Thanks and cheers !

well...if you want to change to another region rom then using phone's updater app won't help...you have to flash through mi flash.

Use eu, xiaomi.eu
If you willow (Note 8T) choose stable version because willow doesn't have weekly build.
so it must be this link.. https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi...HMNote8T_V11.0.7.0.PCXEUXM_v11-9.zip/download
and you need root and unlocked bootloader to install it via twrp.
is it necessary to flash stock rom before custom rom
No.
Custom ROM is marked by Third-party developer and stock ROM is marked by manufacture.
If you're on Stock ROM (MIUI) already, no.
If you're jumping from Custom ROM to another Custom ROM, then yes. Flash Stock ROM first. Otherwise you're risking a brick.

Xiaomi.eu is a Custom ROM and not affiliated with Xiaomi.
Xiaomi.eu is a ROM based on MIUI China with its Xiaomi System-apps (instead of Google System-apps like in EU or Global).
Xiaomi.eu is basically the latest MIUI China, adds Google Play, removes system ads, disables some tracking by default, and some other optimisations for EU and Global.
Xiaomi.eu Weekly is also just MIUI China Weekly.

Should I flash the official rom before I flash a custom rom? Also when I try to flash yung miflash the POCO F3 EEA Global rom here: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/
I ran in some problems, the anti rollback thing. It doesn't flash the global rom. I can boot normally back to my current miui 13 22.5.25 but I cant downgrade or change from UNOFFICIAL to OFFICIAL/GLOBAL rom. Please correct me if there's a mistake understanding because I dont know either if I understand. Thanks

My rollback value is 1. Is rollback thing applicable only on miui roms? what about other roms? Are custom rom have anti rollback just like miui. I once brick my device, when i tried to bypass anti rollback in miflash by removing some codes. That time idk what is the purpose of that until now.

All Xiaomi smartphones and tablets will have anti-rollback protection enabled. What is it and how do you avoid bricking your device because of it?

Other phones have ARP too, however Xiaomi has implemented it differently.
I don't fully understand how Xiaomi devices are getting bricked through this... But I try to avoid circumstances where I downgrade... :S
I don't think it's a good idea to remove the Anti-Rollback Protection Code in the MIUI ROMs... Isn't the code there to protect you?
I'm not sure :/

Hello,
My lisa came with 12.5.5 out of the box. OTA offers direct to 13.0.2. Is there anyway I can upgrade to 12.5.9 ? I don't want to upgrade to A12 atm, or anytime soon really.
Indian firware if that matters.
I see xiaomi.eu has a version of 12.5.9 which is no longer updated, but lisa isn't listed on the compatible device list.
Thanks

First of all, some basics (not sure are you aware of):
1) If your phone came with Indian, you can update but only to Indian firmware without unlocking your Bootloader:
Install MIUI Recovery ROM using Stock Recovery and Updater App
Has your Xiaomi phone received a new MIUI update? Then follow this guide to easily install MIUI Recovery ROM using stock recovery and Updater app on Xiaomi devices. Any smartphone user prefers getting…
www.thecustomdroid.com
In that case you will need to download the so-called Recovery or ZIP stock firmware and use the installation as above
2) For anything else, like switching from Indian to Global or EEA (or to Russian or Chinese) - they are all stock ROMs, or switching to Xiaomi.eu - that is not stock ROM, or any other custom (ie, not stock) ROM, you would first have to unlock Bootloader
AFAIK, Xiaomi.eu has no 12.5 for Lisa, only 13.0 - hence not applicable if you insist on 12.5
To switch from Indian to Global or EEA (still stock ROMs), you will need the unlocked Bootloader, the so-called Fastboot or TGZ firmware (and MiFlash tool):
How to Flash Fastboot ROMs on Xiaomi? - xiaomiui
If you are a Xiaomi user and have installed custom ROMs on your device, then you might be wondering how to flash fastboot ROMs on Xiaomi devices. This article
xiaomiui.net
---
I don't know where do you see 12.5.9 for Lisa - I had 12.5.8 EEA) , but there should be not much difference
Anyway, install the following app and you can check which versions are available for Lisa (for stock Global, EEA, Indian, etc) or custom Xiaomi.eu:
MIUI Downloader - Apps on Google Play
MIUI upgrade app for Mi users.
play.google.com
It shows the Latest but click on Older and you will see all the previously released (stable) versions.
Btw, under Indian, I don't find 12.5.9, neither under Global or EEA (under Global there are eg 12.5.11 and 12.5.14)
From the app, you can also choose and download Recovery (zip) or Fastboot (tgz) stock ROM for the wanted version - depending on your flashing method as above
thank you very much. I did request to unlock the bootloader in the mi unlock app, but all the custom A11 roms stopped development or moved onto A12, so I didn't see much point in unlocking bootloader.
as i understand, if i am on the indian firmware, i can flash the indian rom without BL unlock. but if BL is unlocked, do i need to switch firmware as well to install say the Global ROM ?
about 12.5.9, i mistook it as the last version before they moved to 13. sorry about that.

When you unlock Bootloader it does not prevent you to update India ROM by stock Recovery method
It just gives you the additional option to switch eg to Global by flashing Fastboot/tgz ROM
Its like, you can always go by foot, but if you have a car, you have the additional option to go by car
Please take your time, Google, read to acquire further knowledge and know-how.
There are tons of guides here on XDA, on the Net, Google videos, etc

Only if you flash the same version or higher.
I just ran the latest weekly and it works like a charm , your twrp should be 3.7 skkkk and you can install miui 14 recovery global through twrp but I would suggest a format and not a dirty flash since your going from a china rom to a global have funnnn!
There are 2 TWRP(SKK):
1/twrp-3.7.0_12-v7.2_A12-alioth
2/twrp-3.7.0_12-v7.2_A13-alioth
His system is currently in A12, he can continue with version 3.6.2 12 or update it to 3.7.A12 and flash an A13 recovery rom.
Or use Miflash *** and lock the bootloader, which will avoid rooting + magisk to have the playstore certified.
***Erases your data and only if not K40.

Like you want.
Won't re-lock and you will need to install TWRP A13 after flash.
I'd reckon you try a fresh install on Xiaomi.EU's latest rom first before flashing to the Global version.
Most bugs and glitches are fixed with a fresh install of Xiaomi.EU.
By fresh install I mean use XiaoMiFlash (Fastboot) to the latest official China stable rom (14.0.5.0), then wipe all via TWRP and then Fastboot flash the latest Xiaomi.EU rom (14.0.5.0).
For me; Global rom is too bloat, has too many features missing and less smooth versus Xiaomi.EU's rom.

Not much use since for a first installation you must format the data with the Twrp or use the first install.bat script included in the folder extracted from the zip.
Right, my bad. Clean install is the way to go though, Devs at Xiaomi.EU always recommended this to me versus dirty flash.
I clean flash with every major update, except from 12 to 12.5 (no Android change) with Xiaomi.EU's roms.

Yep, for the change of Miui or Android version, it is preferable to do a clean flash or mandatory in the event of a downgrade (weekly to stable).
