Question Xiaomi EU to Official Miui - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

I am currently running Xiaomi Eu version 13.0.9 stable with twrp 3.6.2_12-pocof3_v6.3_a12.
I have issues with this build and I noticed lots of reports with latest Xiaomi EU updates having many bugs so don't really want to update.
Can I switch without data loss to official Miui? (my bank is annoying dont want to go through hassle of phoning them to re setup)
thanks in advance

Only if you flash the same version or higher.

I just ran the latest weekly and it works like a charm , your twrp should be 3.7 skkkk and you can install miui 14 recovery global through twrp but I would suggest a format and not a dirty flash since your going from a china rom to a global have funnnn!

There are 2 TWRP(SKK):
1/twrp-3.7.0_12-v7.2_A12-alioth
2/twrp-3.7.0_12-v7.2_A13-alioth
His system is currently in A12, he can continue with version 3.6.2 12 or update it to 3.7.A12 and flash an A13 recovery rom.
Or use Miflash *** and lock the bootloader, which will avoid rooting + magisk to have the playstore certified.
***Erases your data and only if not K40.

Like you want.
Won't re-lock and you will need to install TWRP A13 after flash.

I'd reckon you try a fresh install on Xiaomi.EU's latest rom first before flashing to the Global version.
Most bugs and glitches are fixed with a fresh install of Xiaomi.EU.
By fresh install I mean use XiaoMiFlash (Fastboot) to the latest official China stable rom (14.0.5.0), then wipe all via TWRP and then Fastboot flash the latest Xiaomi.EU rom (14.0.5.0).
For me; Global rom is too bloat, has too many features missing and less smooth versus Xiaomi.EU's rom.

Not much use since for a first installation you must format the data with the Twrp or use the first install.bat script included in the folder extracted from the zip.

Right, my bad. Clean install is the way to go though, Devs at Xiaomi.EU always recommended this to me versus dirty flash.
I clean flash with every major update, except from 12 to 12.5 (no Android change) with Xiaomi.EU's roms.

Yep, for the change of Miui or Android version, it is preferable to do a clean flash or mandatory in the event of a downgrade (weekly to stable).

step-by-step how to install the MIUI 10 - PIE without losing the data?

Can anyone provide a step-by-step how to install the MIUI 10 - PIE without losing the data?
Each one I ask passes me different information and I can not come up with a solution.
I am using MIUI 8.1 and I have installed Recovery Oragen Fox 9.0.1. What do I have to do to install MIUI-PIE now?
If I want to go back to MIUI-OREO, what do I have to do?
Thank you.
Download xiaomi.eu rom, delete everything besides internal storage, flash xiaomi.eu zip, and boom miui Android 9
Also, if you want to go back you will have to flash global 10.2.2 via xiaomi flash tool

use a previous version of orangefox one for oreo. i beleive 9.0.1 has pie support. if you use this youll end up in fastboot screen.
so use oreo twrp not new ones that support miui pie..
follow rom installation then flash with oreo support twrp. when it boots. then install now orangefox with miui pie support. follow instructions and flash.
to go back you need a fastboot rom and mi flash.. as long as you use same ARB use masik xiaomi.eu they are firmware less.

[newbie] Few questions before going full custom

Hello!
I currently have completely stock and BL locked M1803E7SG 3/32, on MIUI 10.3.1.0 Stable Pie.
Tomorrow is my big day, timer in MIUI unlocker will finaly allow me to completely mod my device.
I did some modding a long time ago on Xperia X10/Xperia Play (old 2.3.3 Gingerbread times), but many things changed nowadays, so I have few questions:
1) Firmware - is it something like low-level SoC driver pack included in official releases? Back in a day nothing like that was updated/changed. I have latest stable Pie so that point shouldn't be a problem beacuse I will flash Pie FW compatible ROM, just want to confirm my understanding there.
2) ARB - as far as I'm concerned, this thing has no meaning if I'll flash Pie AOSP ROM over stock Pie MIUI right?
3) Kernels - again, back in a day kernels were completely separate from ROMs itself, do modern ROMs require kernel flash when going from official MIUI to AOSP-based ROM? Or is AOSP-compatible kernel already included in ROM .zip?
I want to use this one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/development/rom-cosp-t3891988
Another thing about kernels, I want to use latest PureCAF, do i need to flash it before ROM .zip or after?
So my path should be like that:
Official MIUI Pie + stock kernel + locked BL
1. Unlock BL via official Xiaomi tool
2. Flash latest TWRP thru fastboot, boot into it, flash Lazyflasher thru TWRP
3. Perform a wipe (dalvik, system, cache, data)
4. Flash ROM .zip thru TWRP, flash Gapps.
5. Flash PureCaf .zip thru TWRP again
6. Reboot into clean&fast new phone?

1. Don't care about that driver, the only thing you need to pay attention is the rom based on oreo or pie fw. The other thing you need to know is if the custom recovery compatible with pie fw or not, i recommend latest OrangeFox R10 RC3.1 as it's unified for both oreo and pie fw.
2. ARB has almost no meaning now, old arb3 fw is just too outdated and not recommended to use as lots of roms now moving on to pie fw which makes this even more meaningless now.
3. No, compatible kernel is now included in the rom zip itself, although you can choose to flash another custom kernel based on your taste for better performance or battery backup, noted that some kernel only supports aosp, some only for miui, some for both and some only supports pie/oreo fw.
4. Your step is right, but you'll need to flash dummy.img (just google whyred dummy.img) before you can flash other in fastboot, Orangefox doesn't require lazyflasher, TWRP does. For Gapps, read careful if the rom already includes it or not (Pixel Experience for example), miui based like xiaomi.eu doesn't need it too, custom kernel is flashed after rom.

Hi,
Can you please guide me as well? I'm on same boat as OP.
I have to unlock BL and install custom ROM. I'm on MIUI 10.0.6.0 Oreo (Indian whyred).
I can just follow this thread right?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/one-xiaomi-redmi-note-5-whyred-unlock-t3778049
And I want to install Pixel Experience ROM. And what's about this fw-less ROM!
So, for PE Pie ROM, I just install the other recovery (Orangefox) instead of twrp. Everything else is same right.
1. Unlock BL from the main thread
2.Install Orangefox recovery
3.Flash ROM
Thanks

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro MIUI 12.5 stable update based on Android 11 finally rolling out (Download link inside)

Update:
Stable update has been released.
Xiaomi announced they’ll upgrade the Redmi Note 8 Pro to Android 11 late last year. They have gone to update the global models, leaving the European variants waiting for some time now. Of course, the update was going to arrive, and perhaps, the company needed some time to address a few issues before the European release. Meanwhile, as expected, the Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 update in Europe is now available to select users.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro is receiving both Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 simultaneously, unlike the Redmi Note 8, that’s currently pushing Android 11 only. It is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.5.2.0 RGGEUXM – and weighs in at 2.2GB. Coming along with the update are the features of the new MIUI OS to improve device performance and address some problems introduced by MIUI 12. Interestingly, the Android security patch level is pushed to July 2021 to increase system security and stability.
Of course, the update brings a stable MIUI based on Android 11, meaning that you get the features of the current Android OS as well. However, some known bugs are affecting all MIUI Android 11 builds. They include third-party launcher compatibility, ugly square chat bubbles, floating windows conflicting with keyboards, glitches, and lags. Luckily, you can improve the device’s performance by performing a factory reset after upgrading. However, that won’t fix the problems with the launcher as you need to revert to the MIUI system launcher.
Again, the Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 is a limited rollout. Those in Indonesia are also receiving the build with a version number – MIUI 12.5.2.0 RGGIDXM. It brings features of the new MIUI OS and a stable MIUI based on Android 11. Also, the Android security patch level has been pushed to July 2021 to increase system security and stability.

A11 will most likely be the last official update for this device, wouldn't be surprised if it will take till end of this year.
This works in global variant via TWRP, but I don't recommend it. I could not find a way to install Google Play, even though i tested a lot of tutorials, magisk, appstores.

Stock MIUI is horrendous. Bloatware, permissions etc. I can't stand it.
I'm on PE+ 11 but would prefer an official LineageOS release (no such thing available for now). I would also consider a xiaomi.eu release but they dropped support for Begonia/Begoniain.
Compass.

seems it's for Mi Pilot only.... that's why it's bootloop
Actually, it's bootlooping due to custom recovery..
I just did it like this:
- Download MIUI 12.5 Global from xiaomifirmwareupdater
- Reboot to recovery
- Flash from recovery
- Reboot to bootloader (using adb reboot bootloader or just boot to fastboot mode by rebooting and holding down the VOL_DN)
- Flash stock recovery (get it from xiaomifirmwareupdater, download previous ROM and extract recovery.img)
And with above I'm currently running MIUI 12.5.1. It's basically updated, I've lost no data.
I'm gonna dig in tomorrow for flashing custom recovery if i can find some working with this..
EDIT:
It may be that in order for TWRP to work on this ROM, a full wipe will need to be performed.
It's bootlooping due to patched vbmeta (vbmeta flashed with --disable-verity --disable-verification). So I'm unable to get TWRP to work. We might need some developer assistance ?

I got it to install no issues I had to flash whatever the latest A10 MIUI ROM is from fastboot then it updated to 12.5 on its own. I am back on POSP I really just hate MIUI its bloated and slow, not worth the time or effort to be honest IMHO

Work perfect and yes I feel ya I HATE that Google assistant doesn't work on most custom roms. Let me say this POSP is updated weekly, stable, smooth and everything works. Everything. My phone will like die with this time installed. Hoping the maintainer does A12 soon.

Question Is MIUI 12.5 enhanced worth it?

I am currently using Mi 11X (aliothin) running on Pixel Experience. The rom is pretty smooth, but is still a bit buggy at places and lacks stock features like the camera, dolby, memc etc. Recently, Xiaomi has been rolling out the 12.5 enhanced edition globally for alioth devices, which supposedly should be very smooth, with great battery life. Can you comment on this based on your experience?
Can you give me a link to that enhanced edition? I have been using Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM with Root, its ok. I would prefer Vanilla Android, but I need some Stock features, like MIUI Dolby Atmos and the camera-app
I have been trying to install it on my Poco F3. I have watched the YouTube videos by Munchy, but I can't get it to work by update or flashing in twrp. Guess I will have to wait until it rolls out to me.

I read in the changelog of the stable beta 12.5.3 india and global that it is the Enhanced version. I don't flash it because I still have locked bootloader and my region is EEA. However being a beta I don't know if it works well ... I would wait otherwise you can try it in preview on xiaomi.eu.

Can you give me a link to that enhanced edition? I have been using Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM with Root, its ok. I would prefer Vanilla Android, but I need some Stock features, like MIUI Dolby Atmos and the camera-app

You can download it from here - https://xiaomirom.com/en/series/
You can either download the fastboot or recovery rom based on your need.

You can only flash with TWRP or recovery stock. "Mi flash" flashes only fastboot roms and 12.5.3. global is not yet available in fastboot.
But I don't know if the flash of a beta works well.
If you do, let us know how it went.
Good flash ...
If anyone download, does this finally have performance mode toggle inside battery?

The Recovery ZIP you have to flash with TWRP. You can only Mi Flash with Fastboot ROMs, not Recovery ones.

I don't like the answers you've got... It should be possible to flash via miui directly . That's the best way if possible as you will avoid all the potential bugs and slowdowns from the buggy twrps we have....
Open settings , about phone , open updates and tap on the center of the screen on the picture above where it says 12.5 lots of times just like how you open developer options - you have to click like 5-10 times idk....
Afterwards it will say additional options unlocked , click on top right menu , click on choose update package and point it towards the miui download.
It should work...

You are right, there is also this method. I forgot to mention it. Do you know if it also works with the TWRP installed?

Tried it now and unless ur on global rom it automatically fails the check , on poco f3 even if u are on global rom it biches about closed beta and doesn't instal... mi11 should be able to install based on yt...
Nebrassy twrp gives error 7 but vasi twrp gives no error and installs without issues - flash reboot to bootloader , boot twrp by cmd and wipe data. Only after all this boot system.
I'll try to install official way asap but for now it looks like it's doing alright.
Performance mode is there - so to answer original question YES. It's more than worth to install enhanced edition. For me it's a must
edit: Might also work regardless of recovery being twrp as it installs while phone is booted up , upon reboot it should replace twrp w stock recovery but idk if there will be any ilent bugs from doing it like that... I prefer flashing clean rom first then flashing anything else afterwards

I imagined that with the traditional method it would not work due to verification, because after this post I read that the beta is intended for those who are part of the beta test program with their account.
I also figured that the stock flash would overwrite the twrp.
I am glad that the rollout of the enhanced version has begun, thanks for your valuable information regarding twrp.
My f3 has less than 48 hours to unlock the bootloader and I can't wait to try new roms. If the fastboot version is released in these two days I try to flash with miflash.

IDK, but after installing the latest OTA update ( 12.5.3.0) Enhanced Version,
1: My device reboots randomly, sometimes boots into fastboot mode.
2: No noticeable change in battery performance.
3: Themes & Icons Packs won't work properly.
4: Cant choose to re-install the same OTA from the update section.
5: Fixed bugs related to Haptics & Launcher.
Overall, No noticeable improvement in end-user experience.

Please note that it is still in beta so there may be some bugs.
Your phone was born with the global?
Did you have any problems installing it?
Watch this video by Munchy:
Enhanced Edition has barely any changes. No performance improvements. You can lowkey call it a scam.

There are two different models (different chipsets)
- Mi 11 Lite 5G NE (Lisa)
- Mi 11 Lite 5G (Renoir)
But there is no Mi 11 Lite 5G (Lisa) - hence please make sure which model you really have.
Btw, if you flash a firmware for the wrong model, you will brick your phone
If you are asking about Xiaomi.eu Stable or Weeklies (make a decision which one you want) - of course it is possible.
Then, please look at the Xiaomi.eu Forum and read detailed instructions there (register and ask further questions - there are numerous users there and you will get better and quicker support there):

When you read the instructions on Xiaomi eu, you will see that for Lisa you have to use a particular Orange Fox custom recovery (not TWRP):
OrangeFox-R11.1_2-Unofficial-lisa.img
There is actually a dedicated thread right here, on XDA, Lisa subforum, for that Orange Fox
It properly decrypts A12 storage and it is NECESSARY to be able Xiaomi.eu recovery type either Stable or Weekly for Lisa
But again, sorry, please take a time and start reading/learning there. You will see there that you have to start by unlocking your Bootloader

I do have Lisa, I've been on Xiaomi.eu Stable and later I switched to Weeklies.
Lisa, rooted with Magisk is my daily driver, with dual SIM, work and private apps

In short, you will have to:
- unlock Bootloader (nothing custom could be flashed with the locked BL)
- Temporarily (one-time) boot to Orange Fox:
fastboot boot <OF IMG>
- It will boot to Orange Fox (OF), you have to type-in your Android screen unlock pin (needed to decrypt your storage)
- Navigate to the downloaded Xiaomi.eu Stable or Weekly ZIP (must be recovery type - all Weeklies for Lisa are, and only the latest Stable for Lisa is) and flash it
- Then you have to Format Data (Wiping is not enough), from OF (without, you'll have a bootloop) and then reboot to Xiaomi.eu
- Xiaomi.eu will (as part of its own installation) permanently flash Orange Fox, and in future it's upgrades will go like OTA (by use of the OF) and you will further no more need to Format Data (unless you decide to switch to a different ROM, like back to stock, switch between Stable and Weekly, etc)
Furthermore:
- Orange Fox, Sky Hawk Recovery Project and other custom recoveries (forks of TWRP) all use TWRP backend, just try to make more modern and better user-friendly UI.
If you are familiar with TWRP, you will need few minutes to investigate what new and different you see in OF or SHRP
- Official TWRP.me does not support A12 yet (does not support generally and they say that on their main page, not just particularly for Lisa), and for Lisa I don't know for any other (or better to say better) custom recovery than that OF - I tried couple of them
---
Btw, it is also not official OF for Lisa (official OF does not support A12 decryption since official TWRP does not yet either), but believe me, that OF, wherever it comes from (4pda) is good - and your only reliable choice for Lisa with the MIUI 13/A12 (even if you stay on stock MIUI but want to have 'TWRP')
Btw, there are Chinese unofficial SKKK TWRP builds for a couple of other Xiaomi devices that do support A12 (and they are needed for those Xiaomi devices when installimg Xiaomi.eu recovery type ROMs), but SKKK guys did not develop TWRP for Lisa
Btw, for Renoir (Mi 11 Lite 5G but without NE in the name), there is not known any working custom recovery for MIUI 13/A12, hence Xiaomi.eu ROMs for Renoir are all Fastboot types (they have to be unzipped and flashed from PC by using the batch scripts found in the unzipped archive)
Recovery type Xiaomi.eu ROMs do not have those bat (or alternatively sh scripts for Linux PC) and can only be flashed through the appropriate custom recoveries (those SKKK TWRPs for most devices, and OF for our Lisa)
Fastboot type Xiaomi.eu ROMs can be recognized by having the word fastboot in their long zip file name
Posts #1 in the Xiaomi.eu Forum (Stable thread and Weeklies threads) contain a table where the first column lists supported Xiaomi models and the last columb says if the ROM is Fastboot or Recovery type

Never heard of that problem. For Xiaomi.e, that is the custom recovery they flash in, nobody reported like that
You could ask in the OF thread, here on XDA, under Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE - but make sure you are on that phone (Lisa), not Renoir (without LE in the name)

I had to take the long way around lol. I was on PixelOS so that was causing the problem. I resolved it by installing the fastboot rom then flash orangefox and then flash the recovery rom . I'm on Lisa for sure
