Hello !
I was just about to order my OP3 and I saw on YouTube in an OP3's review someone who was complaining about the clearness of the screen and even two guys answered him like 'yeah u right'.
So you guys, daily use, do you feel like screen is a little bit not clear, I really enjoy reading tons of books and watching series (more than 7k episodes) even very late on night so I must know if it is indeed as these guys on YouTube said a little bit pixelised and you know, like in old screens not really really precise, gives the feeling that they are drooling, flowing, runny, and not good clearness.
I must apologise for all my english misspells, english is not my main language so, sorry about your eyes.
Thank you and I wish you guys a very good day !
Just nah... My screen is as big.. Nothing to worry about i get my OP3 soon. Even my PC monitor is 1080p 23".
But your computer's screen doesn't has the same pitch as the op3 dude
Only problem I found is having ambient display lower my brightness too low for some movies I like to watch. Quickly fixed by turning it off and manually adjusting brightness.
Sent from the OnePlus 3...
making it "RAIN!"
it might not seem very shar pif you come from a Quad HD display. but I adjusted quite fast. I am very pleased with the display.

I'll see how that compares tomorrow. I'll be going from a qHD LG G4 to the OP3. It's sharp and all, but then again, the LG panel never was praised for being exactly the best on the market. The brightness sucks in the outdoors ... and you can't use it in landscape orientation if wearing polarized sunglasses - which is terrible if you're trying to shoot pictures or video outdoors in the sun!
Hello,
5T is my first Oneplus phone and i really like it.
But i think, there is some problem with font. For example, when i reading emails in gmail app, the font is not sharp and have some weird ghosting effect or some outline. It is not that great when reading. This thing is also in Google Chrome, Facebook Messenger.
Is there anyone, who can see it too?
Looks fine on mine.

It's not a problem with the font, it's the 1080p screen. A 6" screen is getting pretty big for 1080p IMO. It's not that bad, but I can see a big difference between the 5T with a ppi of 401 and the Note 8 with a ppi of 521. If OnePlus decides to go bigger than 6" next time, they will have to increase the ppi.

I don't see any kind of pixelation whether it's pictures or fonts whatever. They all look crisp for me and before coming to this I was using Samsung Note 4 for 2 years which has 2k display.

Just too be clear... the screen is very nice on the 5T, it's just not as good as the Note 8 or S8. But, I would prefer the screen on the 5T any day over the Pixel 2 XL. That blue shift on the Pixel was pretty bad.
Agree, no sharpness issues here, screen looks great. Pixel 2 XL screen was unusable for me, colors changed to blue with phone moving around under normal typing.

If screen is same as 5T without jelly scrolling its, fine for me, i never had issue with 5T screen for Text ghosting effects, i was sick of occasional Jelly scrolling.
I could never stand Text Over sharpening of LG G3 as well.

Well, i could never notice difference between screen quality between 1080p and 2K, last 2 k screen i used was Galaxy S7, it was fine, after that i went to iPhone 6/6s/7/8 screens, despite low resolution, it was as good as Samsung screen for me, i also used OP2,3,3T and 5 as well, only bad screen was of OP2 with washed out colours and HUGE DPI.
Now i am sadly confused between iPhone 8/8Plus and Android that is 5T. Same old bull**** issue for me. X is too expensive for me to put on a phone and keep taking care of it, not to use it freely, after spending like 1200 on it, Plus i don't want to support over pricing as well.
Hoping 5T, should come out to be good.
Hi Guys, Im seeing the same thing in my Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Funny enough no one seems to notice but for me its extremely clear coming from the Note 3.

I guess its just up to the eyes of the beholder. IMO, 1080 is not enough for a big phone. If you don't have a problem with 1080p, that's fine with me. Some people don't have a problem with a 24" 1080p computer monitor. But for me, 1440p at 24" is the bare minimum. If my GPU would push 4k at 100HZ or more, I would love to have a 4k monitor. That being said, the OnePlus 5T is still a great phone, even if it's only 1080p.

My previous mobile was an S7 Edge and the 5t screen is better, the whites are much better, the colors and the quality of the screen too and I have never seen any letter with saw teeth. So in my experience the fhd screen of the 5t is better than the Qhd screen of the S7 Edge without discussion. For this I can not agree
Cheers!
Hi guys,
I'm thinking of buying one of those two phones.
The main feature of a phone for me is the camera, and I was wondering if you have any verdict on which has a better camera, and if the quality difference (of the cameras) between those phones noticeable.
Thanks!
The s9+ have a much better camera. But no widescreen altough the wide screen camera of the A70 is not more then ok.

There's nothing much to talk about a70 cameras. I am not satisfied with camera clarity and performance for such high price.

It's not a high priced phone at all. The A70 is £369, whereas the high-spec/high-priced range would be things like the S10+ at £899.

Try the gcam mod. It makes a great improvement on phones from Xiaomi. I hope it works on A70.
I got the samsung a70. I like the phone's 6.7 inch display. But the aspect ratio makes it a bit narrow. That's why I'm thinking about getting the huawei mate 20x which has a 7.2 inch screen. Do you think I should stay with this phone or buy the mate 20x?
Bigger screen, faster cpu, faster gpu....more expensive.
Yes its obviously an improvement in some areas - it's a different class of phone at a higher price point. The question is are those improvements important to you and is the addition cost justifiable. Since "better" is a subjective term, you would need to answer that one yourself.

I love the Samsung A70 phone's thinner aspect ratio because the extra length makes it a lot more practical as a phone and in most cases makes it as enjoyable to use for consuming media as a larger phone with 16:9 aspect ratio, and still fits in my pockets easy.
For my uses, which doesn't include a lot of video gaming, I don't ever want to use a 16:9 phone again.
Not to mention I only paid $370 USD for my A70.

But from what I read you can unlock and root the mate 20x. Unless I'm missing something.
Mate 20X but it costs double the price of the A70.
Excellent performance. Insane battery life. Excellent stereo speakers. Flagship build quality. Screen is wider and bigger but maybe less sharp than A70.
Mate 20X is a beast.
Alas, No Huawei for me as the problem with android updates and google play updates still not fully solved, then the bootloader is locked as i know and no custom development in kirin processors as snapdragon variants, narrow phone means easier to use and carry with one hand , a70 not a bad phone really the only things that pisses me off is i prefer stock vanilla android and only mono external speaker, but every thing else is near perfect

Is there really a big difference in display sharpness between the mate 20x and a70? They're both amoled and hdr. Do they look so similar that you can't tell the difference in sharpness?

Hey Mohamedselim. I'm kinda confused. You said there's a problem with android and google play updates? I don't get it. I thought emui gets updates. And I thought google play get updates too. Please explain.
You alao said the bootloader is locked. But I've seen on XDA where you can root the phone. Again please explain.
And which phone would you prefer?

Difference in sharpness must be noticeable. Mate 20X has a much bigger and wider 7.2 inch screen with a low pixel density of 346 only. While the A70 has a much smaller and narrower screen but a higher pixel density of 393.
This means A70 screen is definitely sharper. It's a very high quality super sharp AMOLED panel comparable to other Samsung flagships.
Meanwhile the Mate20X has an OLED panel not SAMOLED. Don't get me wrong, I have seen reviews on Youtube of the Mate20X and the screen looked very nice. It's not like we are talking about LCD vs AMOLED.
Mate20X is still the superior phone and multimedia beast.

So you havent seen the a70 in person I assume.

I prefer the Mate 20X hands down. Bigger and wider screen (A70 is too tall and narrow). better aspect ratio 18:9 (A70 has the ridiculous 20:9 which makes 90% of online videos appear with huge black bars on the sides). Better stereo speakers with loud and clean sound (A70 has a single mono speaker with just average loudness). Better premium build quality. Better performance with flagship chipset. Much better cameras. Amazing battery life I have seen 10 to 12 hours sot on reviews (A70 battery life didn't impress me at all) . Fingerprint sensor is blazing fast and super accurate (A70 fingerprint sucks).
That's all I can think of right now.
Amoled IS OLED, it's short for Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode. It's one of two types of OLED panel, the other being PMOLED (Passive Matrix OLED). All modern phone displays are AMOLED, although samsung like to bundle everything including the touch sensors in to to one layer and call it AMOLED. The underlying oled tech is the same however. Don't know if the mate 20x has a single layer panel. Doesnt make much difference tbh.

Hmm the A70 objectively isn't as sharp as the panels used on the S/Note series. It also doesnt support HDR or wide colour gamut (DCI-P3). I honestly don't think they are that far off though.
Battery life of the A70 certainly impresses me - I regularly get 7 hours plus OST. Doesnt mean that couldn't be improved upon of course but it's far from terrible. Much better than what I ever saw from my old S8.

Heres another site comparing the 2 phones that state the a70 has super amoled and the mate 20x has amoled. It also states that both phones are HDR:
http://phonesdata.com/en/compare/5742/5451/
The A70 doesnt support HDR10 or Dolby vision or anything like and doesnt have a HDR compatible screen. Netflix hides its HDR content, youtube doesnt give you the option to choose a HDR stream etc.
That website doesnt mention HDR at all under the screen section. Notice it mentions both HDR10 and the DCI-P3 wide colour gamut for the mate 20x but not the A70? That's because the A70 doesnt support them.
It totally depends on your taste of phone, I don't like to waste more than 250 euro on a phone since I break one once a year (because I'm clumsy when I'm drunk).
I bought my samsung a70 for 240 euro by my local carrier (without a loan or an subscription) if I look online for the mate 20x it cost around 900 euro which is way to much for a phone for me since I only use it for whatsapp, discord some browsing and watching a movie in the train.
You should check these marks if u want to buy that phone:
- Do i want to look cool with a 900 euro phone from huaweii or a cool samsung phone
- Do I want super deluxe photo's or decent photo's
- Do I want to watch super crisp netflix movies on my phone or do I want to watch movies just a little bit crisp and cropped to fit for full screen
- Do I want a bigger screen or do I want a phone that just fits in your pocket
- Do I want to pay 3 times the price for a phone or just a small price for a perfectly fine phone
I would recommend if u have the money the huawei mate 20x but if u don't just go with the samsung one and go to a movie or smthg with a nice girl with the money you spared

Are you blind? I posted a link posting that it does have hdr. Youre not looking in the right place.
HI guys,
I'm buying the phone solely for HDR display. How is it? Good? Noticeable? No difference?
If you buy phone only for screen, there are better phone with it. Mi9t, Samsung A50, A40 have better screen. Sorry for my English.

From the many professional reviews I have read around before buying the phone, and assuming the same display is used worddwide for all regional versions of the phone, conclusion always was it was a pretty decent IPS panel probably giving you the best this technology has to offer with the technology pros and cons.
Hope this helps.
