Been about three times now. The SPen is in the phone but about to come out as if it has been clicked.
While I never touched the SPen at all.
Do note I'm using the case that came with the phone.
I don't think that the pen can be accidentally touched as the case covers that part while.
Would like to know if the same has happened with any of you out there.
Thank you for your time.
Well, no, not with this one, or any of my previous notes
Mine came out on it's own once, but maybe I or my kids didn't put it in properly. I actually lost it, but alarm sounded and I went back to look for it and found it. Since it never happened again, I'm leaning towards operator error. I've seen replacement pens for $30, so I'm not loosing sleep over it.
you need to make sure when you "click" it in you aren't actually "unclicking" the top of the pen. I used to do this on my note 8 ALL the time.

Where did you see the s pens for sale? I would like to get a black or silver one, as I dont like the blue one that came with the aura glow model
I've seen it at B&H, which is large camera/electronic store in NYC for $30 online, but only blue. Samsung should have it for $42, if you have credit for preorder, could be way to use it?
I'm waiting for Amazon to stock it, now they only have N8 and N9. I was thinking to maybe order yellow, but I'm not in a rush, especially that I have 2 extra s-pen from N7 and they work, except for gestures.

You can buy them for $30 direct from Samsung.com. The black one is in stock right now. Just be aware, if you have the Aura Glow, then your frame is silver. The button or cap of the black S-Pen is black.l, so it won't match. I plan to buy the white S-Pen when its back in stock, since it has the silver cap.
Thanks bro!

Actually I saw one on Amazon the other day. It was for the 10. They had blue, but the other colors were for the 9, e.t.c.. So they are on there, just have to search and go through the listings..

I've had mine pop out multiple times. So far I've been lucky that it pops out but hasn't completely fallen out. Kind of concerning.

I'm guessing and I think this is what happened.
I must have taken out the pen and started playing with it by clicking it and when I put it back in the phone I must have done so with the clicked in position.
So basically when I put the pen in with the clicked in position the press and click sound would come but not for the pen setting in the phone but for the button release and since we intuitively are used to associating the sound with the pen being in place it must have been loose all along.
Guess Samsung should have made a mechanism to avoid this obvious problem, maybe by playing a small beep when the Spen is in place, possibly they can release the same in a future update.
For now gotta keep this in mind or stop playing with the pen.
So today my phone dropped (about 4 feet). The pen flung out of it and cracked in half. I guess its better than the glass cracking but I'm surprised it made it out of the phone.

I've gotta say I have to disagree with you there. I don't think Samsung should've done more, or should've fdone anything differently. I didn't have the first Note, but I've had each one since the Note 2 was released. Throughout multiple phones and multiple years, I've NEVER had an Spen accidentally eject, so I can say with certainty that it isn't a fault of Samsung.

Well there ya go. That's the cause of your problems, not something Samsung did or didn't do. Just to be clear, I use my Spen quite a bit every day.

my work trouser pockets are fairly shallow I've lost mine a few times now in varying ways either knocking it up out of my pocket or it sliding out while I've been sitting, luckily my case has 100% protected the phone every time other than a hairline crack in the screen protector, but everytime it has made the jump at over 2 foot the pen has fired clean out of the phone and I've had to have a look round for the pen (black pen doesn't stand out too well) luckily it's never damaged the pen, but it does seem to come out fairly easy with any impact as it only seems like a friction fitting and not any mechanical hold.
so to me the more you use the pen it will likely get looser as it does only seem it's there purely on friction with the port it lives in.
The extraction button just pops out to grab the s pen, it does not secure the spen in any way, what maintains the s pen in place, are two dents placed about 2 cm from the tip, which I guess get caught inside by a pressure retainer, like some cabinet doors do, so, an impact will eject the spen depending on how it strikes the impact surface
The action of the SPen on my old Note 8 is like a Rolls Royce. You click it, then the pen pops out 1/4 of an inch. Pull it and it comes out with zero friction. Press it back in all the way to the point of clicking and it never comes out accidentally. A joy to use. My Note 10 Plus has a really stiff SPen though. Press it and it comes out 1/4 of an inch but then I have to pull like heck to get it out. The friction is crazy. Same when I push it back. I can get the SPen 2/3rds of the way back in but then encounter crazy friction until it has pressed all the way back in. Not a nice feeling SPen at all. Better than a super-loose SPen I guess.
Odd, the feeling of my note 10+ is exactly as the one of my note 8, very smooth, the same as with my note 7, the feeling with the 3 and 4 was not as good though
yeah there isn't much friction on mine as said above it's probably only a slight bump as the tip passes into what ever retains the pen, but even that doesn't feel very solid. if you are getting really high friction I would check for dirt or something in the slot.
but yeah I get the point on the pen coming out if hit on the correct angle, it just feels like it could have been a bit stronger, not that I should really make a habit of dropping the phone out of my pocket. only Note I had before this was briefly a 7 before the recall, but it felt more like a positive connection when you pushed the pen in. admittedly never had the phone long enough to find out how strong it actually was.

Does it come with a screen protector????????? If it doesn't then I should of ordered one in advance!
Let me know.
Came with only one screen protector behind the manual and the CD
Good! Do you think it's reusable? I don't want to put it on and then find out I have a faulty device after a few days.
The Tmo Rep put mine on for me. He must be new, though. He had no clue the TP2 came out today, i had to tell him. alskdjf. and when he tried to put the screen protector on, he looked like if he was trying to do NeuroSurgery or something. so now i have a big air bubble running down the entire left side of the device. and on top of that, when he tried to take the battery cover off, he tried to PRY it off the device. WTF?! it really is not that hard AT ALL to take the cover off. Right? i was a little stunned when he tried to do that. But everythings fine.
Yeah usually when I get a device from the store they try to do everything for you. I would have to say no it's ok I got it. Then they would just put it in the bag and I would leave.
i got my tp2 today, and it came with factory plastic screen protector, took me half an hour to realize why i couldnt hear volume on calls.. realized the one that comes with the phone has the top speaker completely SEALED/blocked off... then theres an extra screen protector that came with the phone in the box, that one has preholes for buttons + speaker.. it took a quick 2minutes of finesse to put it down without any air bubbles, i found this quite easy after realizing they had good stick, just do it slowly
where can i get extra protectors? didnt put mine on very straight.
where are you guy's getting the TMo TP2? Doesn't show on their website yet
Showed up for me on Tmo sites last night: I went to a Tmo store to get one cause I didn't want to wait for shipping. Walmart.com also carries the full line of TMo phones.
As for screen protectors, I like Invisi-shield from Zagg. They protect very well and add a non-slip surface. I just hate the idea of dropping my $800 (HD) phone.
You can call T-Mobile to order your TP2. For the screen protector, I like "bestskinsever". I use them for every device I had.
I ordered mine from Brando, Honkong. I use have their SP on my HD. It was the BEST ones I have seen thus far. But I am not sure if the one I ordered will fit the TP2, as on the Engadget review, I saw fromt he Pics that the Europe TP2 size is a bit differnt to the Tmo USA ones. I should be getting it in a day or 2. I will update once I have it.
it comes whit a screen protector , just look for it in the box where the manual is. (TMO TP2)
Day 31.....the bottom will peel!
Buy a screen protector....the complimentary one is better than nothing at all.
Patiently waiting for "Write Shields" to come out with one. Excellent quality, been using since Kaiser.
I ordered a Zagg for mine - the one in the box is serviceable, but IMHO not what you want. I've been an "Invisible Shield" fan for a long time.

Try your stylus, it's probably jammed in there now. You can't remove the case without removing the stylus first! Otherwise something gets bent inside. I bet the T-Mo Rep didn't know that, and now you gotta return the phone for a new one.
But, LOL, that's why my phone volume was so quiet!! I still have the factory screen protector on it, which covers the speaker, as someone said! LOL.

I disagree (At least w/the USA version)...read the following thread again (before your post): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547538
The cover tabs are not even in the same plane as the stylus...Although I will agree that the T-Mo Rep may have broken a tab while cranking the cover off, causing it to fall in the adjacent stylus slot...

Yea, I read that. That's what hinted me off that the stylus was damaged. And obviously it did get damaged due to the back case, because it's barely removable.

Just a quick check, but does your back cover still have two tabs on each side, and one towards the bottom (middle)? Not sure if it's you or josh_prayyforplagues that was having the stylus problem tho...
For me it depends on how i insert the pen back into the silo.
Button facing down = no problem
Button facing up = S-pen is looser, and lightly tapping the exposed part of the pen when inserted causes detachment recognition.
the tablet shows the "S-pen detached" even with the slightest outward movement of the S-pen,
which is only a problem when i insert the pen with the button facing down
Anyone one else having the same issue? (Should i exchange mines...?)
Is the S-pen suppose to inserted in a certain orientation only?
I dont have any of that problems

ahhh, guess i'll go exchange mine then, thanks for posting and letting me know !
I have the same problem and for me it's no difference if the butten is facing up or down :/
Every time I press or hold the tablet next to the camera the pen is not recognized anymore. Very annoying if using it horizontally or just carrying it
SAME ISSUE HERE, but i have a solution !
It is the problem with to short pencil drawpoint, if i remove it and place it without fully pressing/locking inside the pen, the pen dedection will no fail !!!, i dont know yet how to extend it ??? (i'm sure a 0,5 mm or even 0,01 mm - will do)
if anyone have any idea please help ? can i place a bit of paper inside pen or it will **** the whole thing up ?

I know why it is not working for you (I forgotten to repost): That's because in my case extending the pen also stabilised it - thow it stopped going crazy.
Then i also noticed, that bending ... rather pressing the tablet in specific places fired the detatched message.
ANY WAY FOLLOWING SOLUTION IS 100% WORKING:
- The issue is to much loose in pen holder, so if the pen is not stabilized, even slightly move of pen or bend of tablet can detatch or reattach it.
TO FIX IT: Take the 2cm / 1inch piece of narrow transparent tape, then stick it below the silver head of pen.
I has to help, however it must be peace of tape of certain length not to long (you will not fit the pen in the holder), not to short.(it will not stabilise it).
Now I can do whatever I wont wyth my tablet, bent, press, etc - for me problem is solved, although i beleave some software code could easly fix it too, or disable the stupid feature.
Same problem.. The solution for me was to go to the service centre to get a new pen.
I'm having the same problem here. For me, it seems like this problem happened over time. I had this device for a month, and it's only the past week that I've had this problem. The slot for the pen seems to have loosened, and the pen slides out ever so slightly (still secure), but enough to be detected. It's very annoying, as I have a case with the sleep cover function, and the "pen detached" notification turns the screen on regardless of it being turned off from the cover. Battery drain while in bag FTL.
I'm wondering if there's a way to disable the feature altogether. I'm rooted, so I don't mind a rooted solution. I'd rather this than having to carry the pen separately, as the hole in the tablet will still be useful this way.
Had the tablet for 2 days and everything is perfect. There is 1 problem though, the S-Pen isn't loose, but when it's moved outwards like <1mm then the tablet will turn on because it thinks the S-Pen is detached. I compared this to my defective screen tablet that I have not yet returned and that one does not activate when moved even a millimeter outwards. I will be returning both these tablets because it will most likely get worse over time and get looser in the slot. I'm really disappointed at the moment and hoping the next replacement will be my last. If not I may just have to go with the iPad Air and get one of the expensive styluses for more precise input.

I agree, and I probably will not end up getting an iPad. I'm just kind of angry at Samsung at the moment and just saying things that'll make me feel better. Meanwhile, let's see how many returns it takes for me to get a tablet with no big problems. :silly:
I had the same issue. So I went to service station. they proposed to change s pen and the whole s pen dock which is attached to the screen Pannel. Now will be getting the replacements in 3 days. screen Pannel. According to them the s pen dock is attached to the screen Pannel. Now will be getting the replacements in 3 days. Hoping for the best. my S pen is very loose. It wasant so it was just loose on one side but after they opened my Note it became too loose. So its better to get a replacement.

Exactly the same thing with my P605. Went to Samsung service on Friday, January 10, and in less than one hour the problem was fixed, the s-pen's detection distance becoming ~2 mm. The s-pen position in silo doesn't matter (if it is introduced with the button toward the screen or to the back camera). I've tested also the s-pen with the sensitive tip removed, it keeps the same distance of 2 mm with or without tip. I've asked the lady from the desk for the technician that fixed my tablet to talk with him just 1 min to ask him what he did, she said that is forbidden. Than I asked her to tell me how the tablet was fixed, she said that it was opened and the sensor was repositioned in the right place. I looked carefully with a magnifier if there are traces on the case, it looks like the case wasn't touched. By the way, they didn't specify anything on my guarantee certificate, and they didn't release to me any written paper concerning this problem and how they fixed it. My feeling is that the s-pen sensor's position was recalibrated digitally, using a hidden menu. Testing my s-pen in the demo P605 tablet from the showroom (inside the same Samsung service building), the tolerance was ~1.5 mm. Hopefully this information will be useful to anybody experiencing this annoying thing.

I would love to see this as well. Maybe there's something like turning off home button wake in /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl ? Like OP, the issue is improved greatly when the S-Pen button is facing toward the back of the device.
BTW, where the hell is the ROM development on this device. I haven't seen a ghost town like this on a Samsung device since the Behold II.
warrantary worked
now i had to sent my device to the support for some reasons as well and they managed to fix the problem. they didn't replace the s pen and it still feels quite loose in the silo but there are no detached messages anymore!
they had to open the back because they changed the battery, so i can't say if they fixed the sensor or if it was a software fix
I have fixed it by myself (just because I had no warranty for some reasons)
It is hardware problem and can not be fixed by firmware, so, if you want, go to service.

So, I've owned every single version of the Note. Prior to owning the Note 4, I've only lost on S Pen and that was the one on the original Note 1. To this day I have no clue how I did it, but I lost it. Never came close to losing another since. However, in the five months I've owned the Note 4, today marks the second time I've lost the damn S Pen to this device! It seems like the enclosure for the pen on this version of the Note is really shoddy and much less secure than other versions. Many instances of my pen randomly popping on with a slight fall and such.
The first time I lost the S Pen, it was because—as stupid as this is—I had taken my case off the phone and somehow, the process of taking the case off slightly dislodged the S Pen from its housing. I had no idea this had happened. I was on the subway train preparing to exit and AFTER I had exited the train with the phone in my hand, my S Pen alert went off. That's when I realized the expensive S Pen was MIA! Apparently it fell completely out of its housing once I started walking, How absurd! I was able to purchase new OEM S Pen for cheap during the holidays, and I've been paying close attention to it ever since. As stated, there's been several times since that I've had to push the pen back in its housing because it had loosened itself. Very concerning.
Today, I had existed a vehicle with bags and I forgot I had my Note on my lap. When I got up, the Note fell on the ground face up. I didn't realize anything was wrong until I walked about 10-15ft then my S Pen alert went off. That's when the elusive S Pen was once again missing in action! I searched everywhere and could not find that damned thing! I don't know if someone actually picked it up in that short amount of time or what, but it is gone! Has anyone else had or noticed this problem?? Never had my S Pen dislodging itself on the Note 1, 2 or 3. This has me pissed! Now I have to spend money I really don't have at this time to purchase another one of these damn pens because I really do use mine quite often.
ive only had my note 4 for about 2 months but my s pen has yet to fall out yet. knocks on wood.
Both scenarios are have happened to me on all of my notes...and the pen has sometimes come dislodged/fallen out.
NEVER has the pen ever fallen out during normal use.
Sorry you've had such issues but i can say that I've dropped by Note 4 a few times from pretty high up and the pen has never fallen out.
Edit: the only thing I can think of is maybe people who use the pen more, will cause more wear on the sides of the pen so it doesnt stay as snug in the holder? I dont use my pen nearly as much as other people so the pen stays nice and snug.
Interesting. Never had issues with the S Pen. One thing I noticed and want to confirm with you guys... on the Note 3 you could push the S Pen in slightly and it clicks out on a spring. Push it back in and it locks in place. On the Note 4 it doesn't seem to have a spring in it. Is that normal?

Yes, usually it has to be (for me) some sort of abnormal circumstance. In just normal use, I've never had an issue. But if I drop the phone or like I said... taking a protective case off, I've noticed my S Pen easily becomes dislodged.

Same with me except this issue has only arisen for me using the Note 4. I've never used a case on any of my other Notes, so I'm sure that's one big reason why this issue has been foreign to me until now,

That could be an issue too. Normal wear from more usage. Still, it's very concerning. Seems like my pen dies to pop out whenever it can.

It seems to me like the s pen on the Note 3 was much more secure. I seem to remember a more of a "clicking" into place on that phone. On the Note 4, seems like it just slides in but it's not really "locked" in, not that it ever was, just more-so noticeable on the Note 4.

No. What I mean is on the Note 3 you push it and it clicks out a little bit for easier retrieval. Kind of like a regular ballpoint pen. When you push the button on the top down once the ballpoint appears. Push it again and it slides back inside the pen. That's what the S Pen on the Note 3 did. On the Note 4 it doesn't do that. That's what I'm trying to figure out if that's normal and made like that or do I have a defective spring?

I haven't had a problem with the S Pen falling out on its own (though I've only had my phone a short while), but I have noticed that the S Pen alert barely ever fires. I think the alert could be a great feature, but I don't trust it based on my experiences so far. Interestingly, if I walk away with the S Pen in-hand, the alert never fires. If I walk away with the phone in-hand, it sometimes fires. I don't know if that behavior is intentional, or if its just random and I'm seeing a pattern that's not really there. At any rate, I think that the S Pen alert would be better if it was more sensitive. It might have helped you find yours in the two scenarios that you described above.
On a related topic, I was thinking of proactively getting a second S Pen, with the expectation that I'll probably lose the original at some point (or, more likely, break it from chewing on it; it's pretty flimsy). I was going to use the discount code that Samsung emailed me when I registered my handset, but the bloody thing is $30! I know that I can get one cheaper elsewhere but, Just out of curiosity: Is there some magic in the S Pen that makes it expensive, or is the cost pure hype?
Sounds like your problem is your case. I had the pen fall out when I remove the back cover on occasions. Other than that it's in there and doesn't pop out.
Don't know if I'd call it magic, but I tried two different oem (NOT Samsung) s pens. Garbage. I finally knuckled and shelled out for the real thing as a backup. The cheap ones either didn't fit in the holder, didn't react with the phone correctly, or both.

Yeah, the case was the problem because I replicated it more than once to troubleshoot the first incident. Afterwards, I decided not to use a case. The Note 4 is beautiful and I couldn't stand having it hidden under plastic. However, as I've stated, the pen has became dislodged on numerous other occasions when it really shouldn't have. That's the concern. I guess I wanted to know if any one else had a similar issue.

I don't think even Samsung has a great deal of faith in that s pen alert based upon the way they describe it. I too have had iffy results on getting it to alert so a gave up on it. Also fearful of eventually laying it down and losing it I bought a spare and it sits in a drawer.
As for the cost.. You hit it on the head.. Pure hype. Accessories are almost always marked up 60-70%. But it's essential to those of us who really use it, so they feel safe in charging that much for it.
I too had the same problem. One day i dropped my phone and it hit the edge of the dresser & dislodged the pen only half way out befire it hit the floor and broke the pen in half at the S-pen button. The pen still worked though, so i put a piece of scotch tape about 2" long vertically up the pen to keep it together until i got a new one. I carefully wrapped the piece of tape centering it over the pen button and the 1/2 wide tape went around the pen 1 layer thick almost perfect. Low and behold the pen works perfectly and it always stays in without any issues ! .... Hope you try it : )

My friend has lost several on all of his phones. He's very rough with stuff. I've had every note and still do to this day. Never had a pen pop out or lost, except my note 2 pen is gone. I loaned it to the friend and he lost it. Maybe change the settings to make a sound when it comes out.
Fixed loose pen with clear nail polish
I'd forgotten about this thread; thanks to the recent posters for bumping it.
Since my original post last year, in which I stated that I hadn't had problems with the S Pen falling out of my Note 4, the S Pen has become progressively looser to the point that it falls out on its own. I tried a variety of solutions to get it to stay in, and finally found one that works, and that seems to be durable, after about a month of usage:
I painted the tip of the pen with a few coats of clear nail polish.
Let me define what I mean by "tip" in this context. I specifically painted the:
o Sides of the pen (i.e. the smooth narrow edges, not the textured wide edges);
o Starting at the little grooves that hold the pen in the phone, and;
o Ending at the point where the body of the pen starts to curve towards the nib
I applied four, thin coats of nail polish, following the drying/recoating instructions on the bottle. Furthermore, I let the whole thing dry for two days before inserting it back into the phone, just to make sure it was fully cured. Lastly, I used a small file to clear any residue from the original grooves. I don't think that I actually got any nail polish in there, but I wanted to make sure that they were nice and sharp so the little hook inside the phone would catch the pen firmly.
So far, so good. The pen stays in firmly - at least as firmly as when the phone was new. The nail polish is intact and unscathed; it doesn't seem to be scratching or otherwise coming off inside the phone.
HTH, and good luck.
I must be lucky. In December this will be my daily phone for 2 years. My S-Pen has been tight and snug since the day I bought it. As far as dropping the phone, I've only dropped the phone really good once. Incidentally it was right after I stopped using a case because I had just purchased an extended battery. Alas, after that drop it crumpled my s-pen slot slightly making it even more snug. No luck at life, but by god this S-Pen is here to stay.
I fastened a 2 ft chain between my spen and phone. Biker wallet style! Haha j/k
No idea what happened. I just slid my s-pen into the body, no problem, but the cap didn't click back out past the o-ring to be flush with the body. It now sits in the body just past the o-ring/seal and will not come out. No idea WTF to do, but this is WAY worse of an issue than people putting the pen in backward on the 5. This wasn't avoidable. Pushing it in further, there's no feedback click and there's not enough force in the spring action to move it back out past the o-ring/seal. Not fun. Kinda pissed.
Any idea on how to coax it back out without scratching or gouging the finish anywhere?
*Update*
Using a thumbtack I very carefully poked the seal all the way around with the side of the point and was able to lightly pry it in a corner to get the end of the pen past the seal. Everything is fine now. Everything still works.
Note to everyone, it takes almost no pressure at all to get the pen seated properly, if you push it in too far (because you have fat fingers and you can't tell how far you're going past your case, like me) it can get stuck on the seal. Lightly press the pen back in and when it clicks, it's seated, stop pushing.
Don't know what o-ring or seal you are referring to. The s-pen chamber is sealed off. I doubt the pen docking hole is sealed itself since you can use the pen underwater anyway. Also, stop pushing when you feel the pen click back into place? Okay, but then you have to push fairly hard to retract the clicky pen top. All of that pressure is trying to push the pen further into the phone first, and since it can't go anywhere, the pen top retracts instead. I'm not following what you're saying at all.
This happened to me too. Had to use the tip of a pin to get the S-Pen button to pop back out again. Not sure why it happened, but there's a big YouTube video on this exact issue with the Note 7. Mine happened ironically after I did a water test in the bathroom sink to test the water resistance of both the phone & the pen. It passed the test - just under a minute under a couple inches of water.
What gives?
Just wanted to say this happened to me too, also after getting it wet. I had to use a razor blade to pry it out l, luckly I didn't scratch anything though.

My bad, I'm talking about the new ridge that blocks the pen from being able to go in backwards. It's got a rubberized finish at that ridge and that is where the click tip got hung up.

One phone does not make an "issue." If it's an issue you'll by joined by others in short order. Until then your phone or S Pen has a singular defect. But thanks for queuing the OMG! crowd so this thread can grow needlessly to multiple pages like the RAM and glass scratching threads.

By worse of an issue I meant that putting then s-pen in backwards problem with the Note 5 was as simple as not putting the s-pen in backwards... That's a user error situation. If more people start having the same issue as I had with the Note 7, during normal use, that's an absolutely true statement for me to have made. And 3 people have apparently had the same thing happen to them thus-far. Maybe it's not something that will effect everyone. Just sharing my personal experience.
I apologize if it seemed I was aiming at stirring things up, as tone isn't something one can convey well using text. That was not my intent. I just suspected that this might be something we see start popping up a bit in the forum. For $850+ USD it's not something I expected to happen and my initial shock may have weighted my words/tone incorrectly.

Do you ever have something positive to say?
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
The clicky button on top of the S Pen can sometimes get stuck outside of the Note7, too. Take yours out and instead of a quick click to lock it down, click and hold for a few seconds then let go. It will stay down and you'll have to fiddle with it to get it back up. I was able to replicate this a few times yesterday, but it doesn't seem to be doing it now. Hopefully it stays like that.
Wow.
Im sorry to hear all that. I heard of the note 5 people putting there sitck in backwards. I had the ntoe 3 and note 4 edge, never try to put my stick in backwards ever.
But this is just putting it in just a little to good lol...
I do worry that the clicker on the spend will go out it and it will be hard to remove but never thought it would just get stuck from pressing it in to hard.
This is way worse than note 5 reverse spen issue. Anyone in right mind wouldn't push pen in reverse as nib will be facing opposite which fingers should know as reflex when sliding in and to actually get to jam force needs to be applied. Note 7 stuck spen problem is like it happened even when one put it back as one is supposed to put it back. Hope Samsung will release bug fix firmware patch soon

This sucks. I hope it is just yours (sorry, I'm not sorry) and not a wide spread issue. One way to avoid this issue is to click the top of the spen before inserting it into the device. I know you shouldn't have to, but its just a suggestion.

wut? I use it all the time. Its better than your finger for almost anything. I find it more comfortable than my finger, even when swiping.
I haven't had a Note since my N3. Have the capacitive buttons always been responsive to the SPen or is this new? I dont think my N2 or N3 were.
I find it extremely amusing that every year Note users have to have their annual "Stuck Pen" thread.
Also, if you hold the phone with the pen slot facing away from you, and tap the other bottom corner on your hard with sufficient force, the pen will come out. Just so you don't have to dig your pen out.

Hey,
I have been a Note fan since the very beginning and a foldable with spen support has been a device of my dreams. When the Fold 3 was released I decided to go for it and give my Note 20 Ultra a break. The fold isn't perfect especially with such a small battery but as an exynos user the battery has always been a thing to compromise in my region. But,
The reports about the screen being so fragile and getting cracked in concerning numbers have halted me from getting this expensive piece of tech. I am aware of the cracking issues with the earlier folds but the reports about this third generation looks really concerning.
Are the cases that high? or is it just the usual (defective patch) in any product?
Think of it this way, no one will post about how their screen is fine and not cracked, but people will be inclined to post when their screen is shattered and broken. If every person with a screen that wasn't cracked would post theirs, it would far surpass the cracked screen numbers. I have had mine since 22nd of October and I have not had one issue, not one cracked screen. I recommend it as it's the best phone 2021 could bring.
Had mine since the early pre-order time. No screen crack or break, but I have a Spigen hard case on it. I've dropped it a few times, but have been uber lucky it wasn't anything that cause damage. One has to look at the cause of the damage before assuming it's a defect of the product.
Not sure what reports you have read, but I've yet to see an influx of cracked screens from general everyday use. Plus, many of use early birds have coverage for damage.
No issues here.
I have to wonder though, if the phone was left in a car overnight with below zero temps and then unfolded cold. What would happen? Has anyone been brave enough to try? ;-)
I have had mine since shortly after release and I use it... and I mean USE it...
I use the outer screen for many quick things, but I spent over 75% of my time opening and using the inner screen. I have a Fold SPen and use it constantly and I am STILL on the original factory inner screen protector and have ZERO issues with any bubbling, cracking or anything else on the device screen or the protector.
Just take some care of your device and it will take care of you.

There are some cars that specifically cover the hinge I believe. I think Samsung even has their own. But they seem so bulky and awkward.
NONE of the cases that I have seen or used or played with have a Hinge Cover that will protect from Dust/Water intrusion. Just not going to happen. Sorry mate.
I've had my Fold 3 since a couple of days before release day and use the inner screen 99.99% of the time, all day long. No issues here. I clean the dust and fingerprints (which you can barely see and don't cause the rainbow effect) with a reusable screen cloth from Amazon with a koala on it - bought it for my car stereo screen, but there are a ton in the pack, so I use them for different things.
Not only the operation of the phone in cold weather exasperating this issue but maybe also a combination of pressing on the screen with a finger to close the phone..
Plasticisers are a limited lifespan. They are what makes plastics flexible. As they fail, cracking is the result. With a close to a near 180° the engineering is less than brilliant. Made with a very finite lifespan in mind.
The Fold series is an even more niche market than the Notes. Like an inept gambler Samsung don't know when to run away. By shoving the prototype Fold down the throats of its loyal Note customer base Samsung deserves what they get... idiots.
sorry, blackhawk.. do you have one of these?? best phone ever lol.
if the stock protector fail, replacements are easy
Ya been a Note User since the first one .. after going Fold 3 I can never go back... love the screen .. really better battery, cameras, I'd like a micro SD slot again and for thr s pen to go into the phone and it would be perfect...
As for the screen cracking mine has not but the built in screen protector has peeled up so I peeled off ... all good so far.. but if you get this phone usually it's on a 24 month contract then you swap phones to 2 gens later. Also I'd assume everyone would get the insurance for the screen replacement etc... so if that's done you just send it in for any screen issues .

I loved the note, from the very first, and my note 12 pro tablet. Now that I'm retired and don't need the spen I love the fold. It's like carrying a tablet in your pocket everywhere.
I can't wait until they actually get the whole 'Z' folding thing working, to triple the size
What I find funny is all the people bagging the idea of the Fold, alongside all the companies trying to make one themselves. I'm pretty sure Apple will sell one in five years, well behind the curve as usual while claiming to be ahead as usual.
Ha ha yes exactly apple will bring a foldable out when samsung goes to the next design for foldable.. I also like that sliding screen they might out put out ... I'd rather the than the folding but for now beggars can't be choosers lol
