[Q] I messed up my phone

Hi, everyone, I am new here and I am really in need of help...
My handset is n7100. My previous rom is AllianceROM 4.1.2. I tried to flash phoenix rom v16. After that I have a problem with external sd card space. I think that might be due to abnormally working Extsd2internalsd mod. Because I can see a folder named sdcard0.
After that, I restored to AllianceROM but the problem came up, the external sd card is always reset after I reboot my phone. Everytime I reboot my phone, my extsd card seems to be reset. That means no matter what files or folders I moved into extSD before reboot, I will lose them after reboot, what I will have on the card is always 6 folders: android, data, DCIM, LOST.DIR, Movie, and titanium backup files. All other zip files I tried to put in the card (I tried to re-flash a rom) will be lost after reboot, no matter nomal reboot or reboot into Philz recovery. It is quite strange to me and I really don't know how to do this because I cannot flash anything from external sd....I also tried format extsd and reset to factory, didnt work, I also tried to remove the mod according to thread about the mod(extsd2internalsd) and my etc/init.d folder is empty....
Any thoughts would be welcome and thank you all for helping me out

Well the first thing you should do is try a second sd card to see if the problem persists... maybe yours is somehow faulty... secondly ... are you sure you got the sd card path right? try going to the root folder through a file manager... then go into storage or sdcard...it varies...inside that folder youll see a number of storage folders...check to see if any one of them is your ext sd card folder? maybe it resets everything because it really didnt get copied...really hope it works...good luck

[Q] Why is my sdcard named M-^|PNG^M^J^Z^J?

When I get prompted to allow SD write permissions when accessing my newly formatted sdcard, the name of the sdcard appears as M-^|PNG^M^J^Z^J. This is on V20i of stock rom.
Why?

Just rename it.. How is this a problem for you?

Where do I rename it? I couldn't see.
Edit: Wipe in twrp made it appear as "sdcard" so I'm happy now

Hi, pal! I have the same problem: when sd maid request to allow SD write permissions, the name of the sdcard appears as M-^|PNG^M^J^Z^J. My phone is samsung sm-a300fu with 5.0.2 stock rom. Did you do full wipe (clear user data)?

I can't rmemeber exactly but I think I just wiped the sdcard in twrp after moving the files onto my pc.

Same on xperia e5.

This thing happens when you set up your phone the first time after flashing a ROM i.e M or N versions or inserting a newly formatted memory card, or just a card that hasn't been used before on the device . If you ignore the msg that pops up about setting up the new memory card detected. the android system names it in this way by default. (I don't know why they choose this name, it hasn't been clarified anywhere over the Internet) although it doesn't cause any error that I have encountered still it's an annoying thing.
formatting the memory card is not an option for me, and renaming the card doesn't work, I need a better solution to change this annoying default name. that data must be stored somewhere on the device itself where I can change it. anyone has any clue?

External SD issue

I have an LG Optimus Pro E980 with 4.4.2, rooted with towel root.
In an attempt to install TWRP recovery today I lost access to my external sd card. Not sure what I did but earlier today I could view, copy files or delete files to my sd card from my phone or from my computer when hooked with usb and media transfer.
I had a lot of trial and error trying to get a custom recovery installed on my phone and in the process I noticed my sd card quit working.
I have rebooted, removed it, reformatted (from my computer) and still nothing changes. ES File Manager sees it (I think) but when I try to create a folder on the external sd it just says it can't. It works when I put it in another android phone so I don't think the sd card is the problem. I also tried the app on google sdfix that makes kitkat have the settings to write to the sd card. Still didn't fix my problem. It will mount or erase from the settings menu. I don't see a format or unmount option at all.
I would like to flash a new copy of 4.4.2 to my phone but I can't find instructions of how to do this that I understand . I figure this will fix my problem and I was wanting to do a wipe and clean install anyway.
Can someone please advise me? TY

Certain twrp can't access the SD disk. I know this because I have installed twrp 2.8 and I notice immediately that it can't access the external SD disk, as normally be in the directory/storage/sddisk1. Don*t ask me which twrp to use because I don't know. I've heard that some twrp can access the external SD disk and some can't without some modification. Try this one

Its been modified, so it should work without any problem. BTW, as I have said on your other topic, why are you trying to reinstall the stock KitKat that you already have? If you have issues, a factory reset, as you've already figure out, should take care of thing, unless you've erase system files. Don't take the process of flashing tot files lightly, because if one of many things go wrong, you may wish you have never know how to flash the tot file.

Internal mounted SD-Card dissapeared, after flashing Lineage 14.1

I'm struggeling with my SD-Card after moving to lineage 14.1 (Coming from CM 13).
Installation worked just fine, but now i can not access my SD-Card from the phone and even not from PC (over the phone). I mounted it as an internal drive on CM to extend my storage.
The System recognizes the Card, but only gives me the options to format the Card and use it as internal storage or format and use it as an external storage.
Could it be, that the Card cannot be used, because it was formated as an internal storage under CM 13?
If anybody has an Idea, how i get access to the files please tell me

Sadly not, I wiped all Data (except SD-Card) due to install the new System. So thers no Key in "/data/misc/vold"

I think you can't do anything now..
Only formatting it via PC(using command prompt..)

In the past while i was having a Moto G3,i got it to Marshmallow,made the SD card Internal like and about a month i got it stolen.But the good point was that i had removed the SD card.
Checked Google nothing useful.
Asked Motorola for any decryption tips,Nothing useful from Motorola.
And i couldn't stay with a encrypted SD card.. I formatted it(after making the "big choice" and it was back to factory stats..)
But the only thing that i didn't do,is that i didn't ask Google for support. Because Motorola makes pure stock Android but with some of Motorola apps and features.
As you was in AOSP based ROM (even if you was to LG's stock,Google could help) go ask Google gently for any solution(if you had important files,then surely they will help)

haha i had the same problem but the solution is very very easy just reboot into your recovery open recovery file manager and delete Android secure folder in your SD card.
thats all you need

Deleting "Android Secure" folder (there is no such a folder even in hidden files) won't do anything.
Also a thing that you should learn.(Because it seems you don't)
When your SD card is formated as internal you can't access it via TWRP a PC or even an other phone.
Because it gets encrypted.

Yea, i did not know that. If i had, i would have made an SD Backup
But I still have not formated the SD Card, I am still hoping :fingers-crossed:

It cant be undone. Sorry to say. I learned this the hard way also. When you put it in lineage, you remember it asking about how you wanted to format it (movable or integrated)
You chose integrated mode. That encrypted it and counted it as device storage. No unencrypting it. Also if you blew away that lineage install, its totally not able to be read anymore. It stored the only decrypt key in the lineageOS keystore.

Ah yes u right but you can access it as internal. Recvery will ecognise it anyways and you can delete this folder...
Btw this worked for me i had the same problem. And NO there is the folder named "Android secure" definition-- Android.secure is the folder where stock froyo android moves apps to the sd card by default. If you don't use the apps presently, you can safely remove the corresponding app files from the android.secure folder.

Question HELP! My sdcard partition is not showing anything on my PC.

i use the twrp and i select format data. After that when i plug my Poco f3 in my PC (in TWRP) i see my device, i see Internal STorage but not gb NOTHING.

It happened to me on my Redmi Note 9 Pro, i asked for help, most of the people told me to format data to remove encryption to fix it, but I did it many times and with 2 recoveries capable of decryption. Nothing works, so I had no way to install my custom ROM, fortunately I remembered the RN9 Pro had an SD card slot, I copied the zip to the SD card and flash it from there and managed to install a ROM.
Once installed I was able to access internal storage again.
So in case of this phones with no SD Card Slot I don't think there's a solution, just flash again MIUI fastboot Firmware with Flash Tool and it will restart to MIUI Stock ROM.
Probably not what you want but at least you'll be able to use your phone again until someone comes up with a solution.
Sad to have new phones loosing SD card Slot and now Jack 3.5mm connector, etc.

I guess you can use OTG to do the same that @davidbejar did.
