Camera 7.0 - Google Pixel 3a XL Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
Do you know if google is going to update the camera to get more features (from pixel 4) like they did last year when they released night sight.
Did anyone dig into the leaked Camera 7.0 code?

The thing is, I think the app is only compatible with the SGSII, so we have to wait until somebody ports it over.

the 2.4.0 does work but due to ICS there are issues thats why I wanted the 2.4.2 release which has been updated on DEC 27th to support ICS ... but as the market is limited to SGS2, Tab and Note I cant fetch it on the Nexus ...
*bump* c'mon guys dont let me down on this one ... really need it ...
really? no one able to quickly fetch, backup and upload it? tried almost everything possible, editing build.prop to get recognized as a SGS2 on the market, android emulator patching and stuff ... unfortunately all attempts did fail ...
so if anyone would be so kind it would be highly appreciated

[Q] Maps Latitude doesn't work within Jelly Bean

Hi!
I'm having the problem that in Jelly Bean now maps doesn't show any Latitude-friends. It says there were no friends.
I first thought this was because now I've changed my GMail domain (in Germany it first was googlemail.com and now you could switch to gmail.com), but on my Xoom running ICS and the latest maps it works all right. It's just on my GN, where it doesn't work.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or does s.o. have an idea how to fix it?
Regards
McDV
Fix for Latitude
Delete the APK /System/App/maps.apk and redownload from the market. I can now see all my latitude friends.
Just wait for the official release of JB, this version is not the last build of JB and will be very "unstable".... Why dont you guys doenst just wait ????

Why should we?
1) I generally use CM9-nightlies, so why not this?
2) It surely is not very unstable, instead, it's pretty stable. Think about it: They want to release the official version in mid july! What do you think how much they can fix until then? There might be single small bugs left, but if the system could still be considered "unstable", they wouldn't release it before fall! And they wouldn't hand out a firmware to the press, if it wasn't - over all - finish. Just imagine what the Apple-community would write in their blogs...

No one complains, we just ask for solutions that - obviously - exist. There's nothing wrong about it.
I really hate those guys with their "just wait for the official release" stuff. No one prevents you guys from waiting, but please let us enthusiasts test it and let us discuss ways to solve existing bugs on our own. If this annoys you, just don't read it! Thanks!
Glad I searched XDA for this problem - the fix worked for me too. I'm impressed with how stable the leak is already. This has been my only problem so far with native Google apps, or the ROM itself.

How in Tarnations did you manage to install Jelly Bean, if you can't figure out that you need to be rooted to do that?
Protip: I would save/backup the apk somewhere else instead of deleting it so that I can replace it when the final JB update rolls out. This way, nothing gets borked.

Just to respond to the CM9, 4.1 releasing in two-ish weeks so how could many updates occur and the Apple bit:
You say you use CM9 nightlies? Have you noticed just how many bug fixes the CM team can apply in one night? I've seen dozens, and occasionally around 100 bug fixes in a single evening. The CM team is a group (an admittedly large group for independent developers) of people who code for CM on their spare time and are not paid for their work. Imagine what a legion of official Android developers paid by Google for their work on Android could accomplish with bug fixes in a matter of a fortnight! Also, Apple releases developer previews of iOS every single year that are ALSO filled with huge bugs, broken and/or missing features, all the way up to a week or two prior to official release (and sometimes those bugs make it into multiple official releases). The reason you don't hear about the iOS bugs so much is that you have to pay for a developer's license for iOS in order to install most iOS developer previews (unless there is a workaround). In this case, 6,000 Galaxy Nexus and 6,000 Nexus 7's were given to 6,000 developers to preview the software so that they could start getting their applications ready for release. This 'release' was never intended for the end user and was probably already out of date compared to Google's internal builds by the time it came out to those 6,000 folks.
If you want to test it out too, that's awesome! However, it is completely pointless to complain about problems with software that hasn't even been officially released yet and you were never intended to be running to begin with. Also, all non-GSM Galaxy Nexus ROMs are ports and have added bugs as well. The Jelly Bean preview is largely stable and already an excellent update. I just wish Google had held onto it for the full release as users are using the preview's bugs (Google has already stated they are working on bugs they know are in the preview, and some have already been fixed) as an example of exactly what the official release will be like already.

I ask you once again: Who complained about a bug??? Please tell me! No one did! There is just a question of how to cope with an existing bug or how to fix it on our own, but not even one person in this thread complained about the release not being bugless! The only one complaining about things is you, but your complains are totally off-topic. I hope you got it now!
could anyone upload the apk?
Thanks.

[Q] has anyone got the samsung firmware update?

I stopped by the other S4 forum (i9500/i9505) and noticed users reporting a new firmware update. Some mentioned faster transitions and camera updates as well as some other things.
Has anyone got a Ota of this? Or would we (T mobile) not get it?
Also wondering... if your rooted, would you even get a notification about it?
Thnx

The firmware of the international version is not the same as firmware released by carriers. Carriers add a lot of stuff to their firmware and they do their own testing on them. It may take months for a carrier to release an update after the international version got it.
Since this is a new phone, I am sure T-Mobile will eventually release an update (most likely several updates). Just be patient.

I found a website that has manual firmware updates for the different variations, but unfortunately I didn't save it. It's out there though, just Google it and I'm sure you'll run across it like I did, sorry couldn't be more assistance, if I find it again I'll post the link.
Edit: Okay I found it quicker than I thought I would, lol. Here's the link, hope it helps:

Thanks for the clarification and info guys.
Definitely patient.. I dont have many issues w my s4 except home key timing, so I was hoping for fix.
Maybe some one can take a look at new firmware and see if there is any info within that could benefit our (tmo) devices?
I would do it but im not as proficient and knowledgable as some of our other members.

I have the i9500 and got the update a few days ago. The description from the update manager was "improved stability" which means they are ironing out the kinks. Another thing that is going to be updated and will surely be on your variant is locked kernels. This is a kernel level that blocks superuser from even executing code. Workarounds will have to be found/kernels compiled.

if you're referring to the home button lag, then just disable s voice like everybody else did, even back in the days of the S3. go into the s voice app and hit the settings button on lower left of your phone, then tap settings, then un-check the 2nd option "open via the home key".
as far as updates, t-mo is usually the 1st or 2nd carrier to get it in the US, but nothing yet. i'm hoping they'd fix the camera shutter lag that i love from the old s3. sigh...

HTC Eye Experience

Before, you could edit the default xml to enable the face fusion, and it worked ok, not great but ok. After the latest update in the store for the camera, even with it enabled in the xml file, its gone, nowhere to be found. Did HTC remove this feature?!?! OR is there somewhere else we can enable it that anyone knows of

I did a bit of research and it turns out that they removed this feature as it was not stable and ready yet. They said that they'll soon release this as a new app. It's also removed from the new HTC desire. I recently updated HTC eye experience and some of the features are not there like the voice selfie. Why is this.?? I haven't recreceived a firmware update yet. It's still android 4.4.3

Question oos cam for lineageos

Hi there,
Have installed crdroid and was loving it until I realized there is no way to run Authenticator by google on my phone (without gapps nor nothing of ****ty bloatware), only reliable apps.
So decided to install lineage as in my previous op7t pro, but the cam is a garbage... so searched for gcam and downloaded 2 apps without success on running any of them.
So there is a way to have stock camera on lineage os?
Appreciate your help! Thanks in advance
Hi there, I'm facing the same problem. So far I found this version works GCam_8.1.101_Wichaya_V1.4 (Source: https://www.getdroidtips.com/google-camera-oneplus-9-pro/) and the 7 Pro Stock version (you need the Gallery App as well) that I found on this forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/apk-oneplus-camera-for-any-a11-custom-rom.4350205/

Well from what I've learned, you can read this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/oos-cam-in-lineage-os.4001895/ or this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-app-on-lineageos-18-1.4414821/#post-86567423 - in this thread there are links to others too or you install a different ROM that comes with [OOS Cam], people suggested StagOS.
Maybe this helps too: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-app-on-lineageos-18-1.4414821/#post-86567423 but there's people complaining about the Camera too - just read or use the search fuction, it's a long thread Good luck!

hahha u almost read my mind, I decided finally to install stagos and even considering this is beta android 13 yet, it runs smooth and no big problems so far
the only problem I've seen in this rom is that ivoox (podcast app) crashed a bit after I open it but then runs without problem
Nice! I'd be interested in your general experience with it (and with the Cam especially) as I think about doing the same

morning!
results after first night: went to bed with 100% battery, after 8 hr sleeping with my phone on airplane mode the battery still is at 100%
this is a great step imo because my op7t pro with same conditions usually was 95-96%, so weird for me
That's great! And the camera runs smoothly?

3 hr ago I ran out of battery, after 40 hr of last full charge and around 4 hr screen 120 hz auto brightness
Great, thanks for keeping me updated! I just try to think about my last charge before this one today to get a reference with my de-bloated Oxygen OS. I think it was also about that amount of time ago but I don't remember perfectly. I will pay attention to it now. And I guess I will just try StagOS eventually as I'm very curious!
