Hey, I downloaded the firmware for my note10+ and patched it with magisk after I unlocked my bootloader. I started flashing it but the flashing progress is stuck on system.img. It has been for like 30mins now. What do I do??? People online suhggested to try different cables etc. Im using the cable that came with the phone, usbc to usbc and the other end is hooked up to my thunderbolt port, it has been working fine. If I disconnect the cable, wont the device brick? What do I do? Help pls!
Happen same to me, avoid the thunderbolt port. Use a proper USB C port or normal USB port. Never use it with thunderbolt port even though the cable fits. Reboot into download mode again and retry odin flash.

Impatient EB13, tried to ODIN DI18... pulled the plug after 5 minutes of no progress. Got a "smart phone ! CPU" image and decided to ODIN the pre rooted EC5... I've been waiting for 30 minutes now. What should I do?
if you have used odin before then just start over and do it till it works and i suggest you stick to EB13 for now
Pull the battery, try a different USB port, and/or cable.
Stock cable sucks for data transfer. Really only good for charging. Same with USB ports on the front of your computer. Its really better to use a different cable plugged in to a port in the back of your computer.

Of course we assume you are in download mode and a com port shows up in Odin.

When I first got my Epic I saw so many posts like this that I went down and got a BB cable. Since then I use the stock cable to ODIN all the time. I think using a back mounted port is much more important than blowing $ on a cable.
Yeah, I followed all directions and downloaded the necessary files. Tried all recommendations but once I saw the "phone ! Cpu" I couldn't get it past image.xxx in odin. Took it in to a sprint service center and they had no remedy so they gave me a new one, not refurbished. And wouldn't you know it... EB13... How? Why? I have no idea. Thanks for the help, I'm staying put.
Sent from my original EPICS' step brother...
I am currently running the latest version of LiquidSmooth on top of CWM, when the problem first started I was running a recent CM10 nightly. The phone doesn't want to connect over USB. More specifically I get the "One of the USB devices connected to this computer has malfunctioned..." message. My wife's stock T-mobile GS3 can connect over the same USB cable and port.
I was able to get the phone to connect for a little bit and it used to connect just fine on this system. The last time I got it to work, it stopped working in the middle of a file transfer and hasn't worked sense then.
I tried cleaning the port of my phone without any improvement. This was just cleaning little bits of lint out with a needle. I also tried several different USB cables as well as connecting to my laptop instead of my desktop. I tried with and without USB debug and in both MTP and the camera mode. I tried installing Samsung's USB drivers and I tried uninstalling them. I also tried installing Kies which did not recognize the phone. All of this was tried with frequent reboots.
I think it is time to try and RMA the phone but I am not sure how I can put it back to stock if the USB isn't working.
Anyone have any ideas on what to try next. I am very much at a loss for what to do.
Edit: Would Mobile Odin let me do this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691659
I think you should be able to use that to get it back to stock.
Try Flashing the ROOT66 rom, you can then test if the USB works, don't forget to wipe the casch and Dalvic when you flash...
let us know if the rom flash restores the USB connectivity, if you do it.
Good Luck & Aloha!
I have been using my OTG cable for a couple of months now. I normally use it to connect my s3 to my usb speakers which worked flawlessly. One day I was listening to music using my usb speakers and suddenly it stops working. Ever since then, whenever I plug my OTG cable to any usb device, nothing happens. Any ideas on what may have happened and how may I resolve this issue?

First thing I would do is to try a different OTG usb cable or usb extension cable , or try the existing usb cable with a different phone.
The phone does not need to be the same make or model.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I've tried 2 different OTG cables with no luck. It's gotta be the phone because I plugged in my brother's Note II and audio was working fine with the usb speakers. Any other ideas?
Anybody else have this issue?
Anyone?
Well since it doesn't seem to be the cable, what I would do is do a full wipe and reflash ROM or do a restore with Odin

Sorry to I forgot to mention that I've tried Odin back to stock, Full wipe and reflashed a rom. Still does not work. It will not detect any usb device.

You can also try this:
Get a contact enhancing agent like Deoxit! or Cramolin and put a tiny dab on the contacts of the cable and insert and remove the cable in the USB socket. DO NOT FLOOD THE CONNECTOR! a tiny amount works better. On the Cramolin label says the less you use the better it works... that should help you get it working. Sometimes pocket lint gets in that connector and makes it hard to get working. A can of "canned Air" would not hurt using it in the contact area of both the plug and socket. It'd also help getting the fluids into the plug before reinserting into the socket.
Good luck
P.S.
you can get the stuff from ebay, and cramolin frrom ebay... Cramolin is or at least was cheaper, but I think Deoxit! works better.

Uninstall all the Samsung USB Drivers and Uninstall KIES if you have that installed then reboot the computer.
Then Install the newest Samsung USB drivers which can be found here: http://androidfilehost.com/?fid=22962010882834451
Be sure that the phone is unplugged from the computer when installing the new Samsung USB drivers.
After the new usb drivers are installed try the ODIN flash again.
It should work.

I just had this happen with my otg cable... was working just the other day, but now it no longer works in a nexus 10, nexus 7 (2013), GS3 or GS4. Any idea what could cause that?
If it doesn't work on any device, bad cable. Probably needs replacement.

Hi Guys
I hope someone can help me I have a very strange problem. My galaxy note 2 is not detected by my computer at all (Not a driver issue, not seen at all) It charges fine.
Things I've tried so far are 3 different cables,
Two different Computers,
Reset phone to stock out of box state.
And the one that gets me the most is I even changed the whole USB board assembly. (I was sure it had to be a broken USB port
Still no joy.
The problem now is if I can't connect it to my computer I can't reroot through Odin.
Any Ideas?
Also is it possible to root phone again from stock without connecting USB to PC.
Thanks in advance.
USB port not conecting to pc SPH L900 note 2

I have an I747 that was running CM13. It was fully updated, NJ2. Had TWRP 3 on it. It was running great and one day the battery died. It charged for a little and will turn on, but not go past the CM guy logo. I tried booting into recovery and same thing, I get the TWRP logo but doesn't go beyond that. It goes into recovery but it's not recognized by the pc when connected. It's almost like the internal card went bad, and that's why it turns on but won't boot. Any ideas? Any help is appreciated
Did you try a factory wipe? Reinstall the same or different ROM?
I can't get into the ROM or recovery to do a wipe. I have a back up I'd like to try to restore first, but I'd gladly try any ROM I could get to work
Can you get into download mode to reflash twrp?
I tried. I can get into download mode, but when I connect to the pc, Odin never shows as connected. Usually it turns blue and says like COM1 or something
Are you using the original Samsung cable? Tried using different USB cables and USB ports?
It's not the original Samsung cable, but I've tried a few different ones. Tried every USB port on the computer.
One of the cables I retired I know works for data transfer because I use it for a different Samsung phone
It's possible the USB port is damaged. I have found with my s4 that even if a cable can transfer data, it can't flash a ROM in Odin.
I thought about that too. I found cracked screen phone on ebay so I can try a new internal board. It was cheap so figured it was worth a shot. Thanks for all your input.
I'll keep you posted with whatever happens.
So I got a new/old phone on eBay. Cracked screen but it turned on. I got that, opened it up, pulled the board out and swapped it in with my good screen. All is working new. Got my cm 13 working again. Thanks for your input.
