Call Blockers not Working on Pie. - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Before my phone upgraded to Pie, I had a call blocker that worked perfect on Oreo. If you weren't in my contacts you were sent to voicemail and I didn't know you called. After the upgrade, I started getting phone calls from unknown numbers, so I figured the app wasn't compatible. I installed multiple other call blocking apps, but none of them kept my phone from ringing from numbers that they were supposed to block. I even tried the Do Not Disturb trick, but the calls came through on DND also.
Is anyone else having this problem, or has there been a suggestion of what to do? I'm asking before I get frustrated enough to root the phone and flash back to an Oreo ROM.
LG G7 (Verizon), Verizon Prepaid (LM-G710VM)

What app were you using? My phone hasn't upgraded yet and have been looking for anything that works.

Call blocker by vlad has pie compatibility. Or just download google phone dialer and use the integrated blocker.

I was using an app called Safest Call Blocker by Warez and it worked flawlessly. I never got a call outside of my contacts. It's no longer on the playstore, but I found the apk. I still have it, but it doesn't work in Pie. The closest app that I think will work the way Safest Call Blocker worked is Call Blocker by AndroidRock, but it doesn't work on Pie either. You could try finding the apk for Safest Call Blocker.

I tried both apps from vlad lee (Call Blocker, Calls Blacklist), Call Blocker from AndroidRock, Call Control, Hiya, and TrueCaller. Maybe a couple more. Someone on another forum told me to try Youmail, but I explained to him that Youmail doesn't like Prepaid plans, and I don't feel like subscribing to something.
I looked at Call Blocker by vlad after reading your post and it's a little different than the last time I used it. I'll give it another try. Thanks for the suggestions.

Why bother? There is a blacklist on your phone already that blocks calls....
I use that, however I haven't figured out how to block unknown numbers is why I ask. Also, the built in app allows blocked callers to leave voicemail

Only thing I notice with this app is that it shut off data at reboot and takes a bit to turn back on. Other than that, it works as it should

All apps will take the caller to voicemail unless you call tmobile and tell them to change it. I had to do it when I used the call blocker app on vibrant before I found the blacklist. After you have tmo change it, if you stop the ring by rejecting the call or if they are on blacklist, it will ring busy. If you let the call "ring out" for lack of a better term, it will take the caller to voicemail. Also, there should be a tab in the blacklist to reject unknown callers.
thanks for the info very helpful
it would help if I had the Unknown number checked in the auto reject options
thanks again
i have used "MR. Number" from Market and it worked pretty good for me.
I use extreme call blocker. and you can set it like pick up and hang up. found in the market
Yep, the two best ones are made by the same company:
Root Call Blocker (for general use):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.rootcallblocker.beta
Call Master (for advanced users):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist
These are the only blockers that completely block everything without turning the screen on. Need to be rooted though.

[Q] Need Help finding a good app

Hello guys..
Need help, its important.
I need a call/sms blocker app which successfully blocks calls/sms without any notification. Just like in the old samsung phones which had a blacklist and blocked call without notifying users that a call has been blocked. I tried the NQ call blocker app, It works good but leaves a notification about the blocked call in the log and fastlane.
Can u please help me with this either by stopping the notification or name me an app that does it without notification.
I use a Nokia X dual SIM.

"Call Control - Call Blocker" is a call/sms blocker I use and often recommend. It works really well. Simply click the "Settings" tab and you can disable all notifications, including icon, and blocked sms/calls. A community blacklist has also been implemented to help eliminate calls from known telemarketers etc. View here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flexaspect.android.everycallcontrol
Note: This app includes a log of all blocked calls. However, if you disable the notifications, you won't ever see this.
Also another great call/sms blocker is "Calls Blacklist - Call Blocker". View here - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vladlee.easyblacklist
Thanks
I tried the Calls Blacklist - Call Blocker, it didn't work. It allowed the blacklisted number, but will try the Call Control. If it doesn't work I'll get back to this thread.
Thanks for the help.

Call block not working after Lollipop update

I'm seeing a lot of "unavailable" or "unknown" calls actually make it through after the 5.0.1 update. I made sure that the call block setting is still set for it.
Anyone else experiencing this?

yes i'm having the same problem !!??
There are two apps that I know of that that will block those. One is truecaller which is also a caller ID app. The other is called Mr numbers. Both of these have a huge spam data base and auto block those numbers by default. Since KK the only way to apply block on sms is to use a non-stock app. Once we get root,I'll add that feature to our device, that way no-one needs an app.

Call blocking - What did your G4 come with?

Did your G4 come with native call blocking? My Verizon G4 doesn't have (I suspect they removed it) any native call blocking. I'm currently using "Call Blacklist Pro" and it's working the way I want, only my contacts will ring through. All other numbers go straight to VM. I get anywhere from 0 to 6 calls per week from blocked or unknown numbers, and so far they've all been blocked.
If you use something else, what is it? I'm open to trying new options. While my current app is working OK, I still wish my G4 had native blocking like my Galaxy S4. I wish Verizon would stop removing stuff.
It's there on Verizon, but hidden. I used an app called quick shortcut maker. Search for reject. You'll see a call reject activity. Make the shortcut on your home screen, and it works great.
if you have root, use RCB Root Call Block Pro... the best Call Blocker i every seen
thank you so much. I was getting rather aggravated that Verizon hid call blocking. Had it on my note 3 and just got a g4 today and there was no call block list. Glad its still there, even if it is hidden.
Verizon charges for call blocking, of course they hid it.

Other ways to see rejected calls is, simply go to call logs, and you will see a "red crossed" circle down the numbers call rejected for.

Call blocker

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if there's a built-in call blocker for unwanted calls or I have to download an app.
I couldn't find any options in the phone app.
Thanks!
No, there isn't a built in call blocker. You can use a custom dialer like truecaller or if you're rooted you can flash google dialer which has in built call blocker.
Thanks a lot!
I use the Google Dialer. It has a nice Block Caller/Report SPAM feature.

Finally, I've found it! But It seems to block all the incoming calls, or none. But I get network error anyway.
Calls Blacklist Pro app what I use has schedule and keeps my away from job calls after hours and turns back on @ work time. Can also add individual calls to block.
