I'm seeing a lot of "unavailable" or "unknown" calls actually make it through after the 5.0.1 update. I made sure that the call block setting is still set for it.
Anyone else experiencing this?

yes i'm having the same problem !!??
There are two apps that I know of that that will block those. One is truecaller which is also a caller ID app. The other is called Mr numbers. Both of these have a huge spam data base and auto block those numbers by default. Since KK the only way to apply block on sms is to use a non-stock app. Once we get root,I'll add that feature to our device, that way no-one needs an app.

Why bother? There is a blacklist on your phone already that blocks calls....
I use that, however I haven't figured out how to block unknown numbers is why I ask. Also, the built in app allows blocked callers to leave voicemail

Only thing I notice with this app is that it shut off data at reboot and takes a bit to turn back on. Other than that, it works as it should

All apps will take the caller to voicemail unless you call tmobile and tell them to change it. I had to do it when I used the call blocker app on vibrant before I found the blacklist. After you have tmo change it, if you stop the ring by rejecting the call or if they are on blacklist, it will ring busy. If you let the call "ring out" for lack of a better term, it will take the caller to voicemail. Also, there should be a tab in the blacklist to reject unknown callers.
thanks for the info very helpful
it would help if I had the Unknown number checked in the auto reject options
thanks again
i have used "MR. Number" from Market and it worked pretty good for me.
I use extreme call blocker. and you can set it like pick up and hang up. found in the market
Yep, the two best ones are made by the same company:
Root Call Blocker (for general use):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.rootcallblocker.beta
Call Master (for advanced users):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist
These are the only blockers that completely block everything without turning the screen on. Need to be rooted though.

I want to say you can get Sprint to add them to a blacklist.
On another note... You got a girlfriend and a wife?!

you can do it yourself on the sprint website
Block or restrict text messaging services:
Sign in to My Sprint with valid username and password at www.sprint.com.
Click the My Preferences tab.
Under Limits and Permissions, click Block texts.
Click on the phone or device to restrict text messages.
Choose from the following options to block or restrict texts:
Do not block any text messages
Block all text messages inbound and outbound
Block all inbound text messages
Block all outbound text messages
Block only these numbers for inbound and outbound text messages
Allow only these numbers for inbound and outbound text messages
not understanding your question fully...do you want to block calls and texts...or hide calls and texts?...Go SMS Pro has a private box with password for texts
I have found no way of doing this on stock or rooted/modded app.. but the best alternative will be to download chomp sms... It's free and she would need to go through the settings just to find it which will be to much for her/them...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415412 Check this app out. It blocks anything.
actually there is a way to do it. ill explain how i did it. im sure there are alternative ways "better, faster" but this is the one i know. i downloaded launcher pro just to do it and then uninstalled launcher pro after i was done. open launcher pro amd create a shortcut on the home screen. scroll down to mms setup or provisioning, i cant remember for sure. that will open to a sub category and when u see the blacklist option pick that as your shortcut. now just launch it from your new shortcut and choose what #s u want to blacklist. this has worked for me since i got my e4gt. good luck, veritasaequita

Send calls to voicemail
On the Evo you used to be able to select a contact and choose to automatically send calls to voicemail when that person called. That was good for bill collectors so I could just send it voicemail without it even ringing. Does anybody know how to do that with this phone?
get hide it pro...
Works wonders ...its in the market..you can hide SMS ...all calls from blacklisted contact have incoming calls go straight to VM and it has a dope interface that no one but you knows how to access
does anyone know of a call blocker that does not run in the background?
Google voice does this and much more for free. You can block numbers, send specific numbers directly to voicemail, set up different voicemail messages for different numbers, get transcriptions of voice messages, etc.

There isn't a built in way to do it. Not in standard Android at least. I use the app "DND Call Blocker" to block calls from unknown numbers and from a black list. Seems to be a very lightweight app and does the job well.
i couldnt find the built it one, but i will try the one you just said
If you add the number to a contact, then you can set "All calls to voicemail". But if you want to skip voicemail also, then I have no idea if it can be done in software on the phone.
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if there's a built-in call blocker for unwanted calls or I have to download an app.
I couldn't find any options in the phone app.
Thanks!
No, there isn't a built in call blocker. You can use a custom dialer like truecaller or if you're rooted you can flash google dialer which has in built call blocker.
Thanks a lot!
I use the Google Dialer. It has a nice Block Caller/Report SPAM feature.

Finally, I've found it! But It seems to block all the incoming calls, or none. But I get network error anyway.
Calls Blacklist Pro app what I use has schedule and keeps my away from job calls after hours and turns back on @ work time. Can also add individual calls to block.
So the reason I'm asking this question is because as you know in the u.s. the robo calls are outrageous. In the Samsung phone app you can block and report those numbers. But the numbers still show up in your recent list which to me is annoying. In the options you can pick which calls to show but then you'll miss out on seeing the other types of calls. I downloaded the Google dialer app and while it works it doesn't give you an option to block calls. If you click on the info button for that call you can't block it so that's a no go for me.
So what dialer app are you guys using that lets you block calls but also doesn't show those numbers when you block them?

try truecaller, its good although there is a lot of in your face ads asking for you to buy premium
Drupe is my pick - same about ads though - but awhile back I bought lifetime pro features and never looked back - it does the best at automatically IDing caller ID, handling blocked calls, recording, recents, favorites, and everything else I'm looking for in a dialer app. I hope you like it too! (It's totally worth giving a try even with the free version for a while)
Nothing better than https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hb.dialer.free
