New firmware update via LG Bridge - 4.24 GB - it was not available via OTA.
Hoping for some camera and speed improovments.
Weird, it reverted me back to 10e firmware. Now with OTA I got back to 10g. Data was not lost. Still july security patch.
Downloading it right now!

Sorry for silly question but I am not so intelligent. What's the difference in hardware between Korean and European version? Why I cannot flash both using the same rom? What's disadvantages in Korean version if I will use phone in United Kingdom? Please explain me that clearly in the simplest possible way because I am mentally limited (very limited communication abilities and interpersonal skills) and I have never use lg phone. I will buy v50 to replace my daily driver Pixel 2 xl.
Thanks

Hardware, I think none. Not sure about the 5g thing.
Bloatware, very few Korean symbols when using English language with Korean firmware, more languages on the European (I need Romanian), VOLTE and VoWiFi might not work on Korean. Who knows about 5g? But in essence it is the Bloatware. I had an LG g7 Hong Kong edition, and changed to European. It was way faster and better for me. Maybe there are some services in the background that are trying to connect to some Korean servers and the connection is poor. Try open lge. Co. Kr to see my point.
But keep in mind that we dont have a working common. DLL to make cross flashing. Be patient, maybe in a month or 2 is released.
If you'll buy the Korean version and get some lag, just check my tutorial.
May I ask, do you had an LG phone before?
I have never had proper LG smartphone just kp500 about 10 years ago. At begins of Android everything was different. WiFi calling and VoLTE are quite important for me. V50 is intended to use with China Mobile link which use EE network. EE supports WiFi calling without any app or modification in firmware even if my primary network is China Mobile. I am concerned that WiFi calling will work on V50 only if will be flashed local software but We don't know when it will be possible. I doubt that they add support for Korean variant although EE supports most devices so maybe WiFi calling is divorced with firmware (?). Both WiFi calling and volte works flawlessly on my Pixel 2 XL bought from Google store. WiFi calling is very useful. I really like to use on V50 WiFi calling, but volte isn't must have feature. I don't know how it work on EE in UK. I am considering change network. China Mobile spy a lot and overhearing another reason my great hate to communism but they are still the cheapest and EE has great coverage. In the worst case I could change my network to keep using 4g features on V50 if somebody confirm that V50 in Korean variant is fully (WiFi calling, VoLTE) working in UK on any network.

If you are that much in VoWiFi, it's quite possible not to work with the korean firmware.
Anyway, I do recommend to buy the V50, IMO best phone on the planet.

Hello, Trouble!
I am on v11m august Android 9 which gave me 4k 60fps with Super Steady Mode.
How can I install the v17a? Where to look for it?
L. E. It seems v17a is for G8 and, yes, v18a is for v50. Thx, searching for downloading it right now.
Nothing found. Maybe it will leak in the next days. ?
On Korean V50 from eBay I will have some bloatware. I didn't even suspect that flashing clear firmware for European unlocked variant is as difficult or impossible. LG makes flashing very complicated. It sounds very bad for me. I understand that I can forget about VoLTE and WiFi calling. I hope that at least NFC payment will work in UK. Is it any other disadvantages of using Korean variant in UK? Thanks

1. Check screenshots for bloatware. There are only 4 apps. The one on the bottom was with problems for me. I had to disable also it's permissions and write to system setting turned to No. My phone was laggy because of it. Now it's rocket!
2. It's a matter of weeks until we will be able to flash firmwares.
3. Then you'll have VoLTE and vowifi
4. Nfc not only works, but it also have card cloning. You can pay anywhere. I mean anywhere! However LG Pay app is not supported in my country. Maybe it works in UK. I am using third party apps for payment. Check screenshots.
5. No other disadvantages.

Thanks you all for explain how difficult is flashing branded version from carrier. Finally I bought G8s thinQ from local UK stock. Phone is absolutely brilliant and I really love this device. It has the only one disadvantage. Screen resolution is FHD+ and it really hurts my eyes, when I compare with my old Pixel 2 XL I feel extremely disappointed. The difference is huge. When I firstly noticed blurred tiny fonts I thought that cl something must be broken. I was cleaning screen few times, but it didn't help so I was looking in settings how to setup full resolution or disable option which cause blurred text unsuccessfully. Pixel 2 XL has low quality screen but believe me I prefer poor WHQD screen then even the best FHD screen as I read a lot and I am use to scroll pdf documents. Currently all Korean V50 thinQ in low price are gone. I don't know what to do. I love this phone but hate screen in this phone. I will probably send it back although it's (proper) amazing phone.

Hi everyone.
Thinking of jumping off the Samsung Galaxy series in favour of the G3 DUAL SIM LG smartphone...
Does an Aussie here on XDA currently use the DUAL SIM G3 model D856 or D858HK (with 3GM RAM and 32GB memory)?
If so, can you please report back on the following:
- Fastest 4G speeds on SIM 1 - who is your carrier?
- Fastest Internet speeds on WIFI - and what is your home line speed?
- I don't believe it does, but does either of these 2 models support wireless charging? (Not referring to AUS model D855 that does)
- Rate it / 10 in terms of comfort & ease of use? (5.5" doesn't sit well with me, might as well be a tablet, but is at its max I'd consider USEABLE)
- Where did you buy from? How long ago? Do you remember what you paid?
- Any current deals for it now?
- Make note of your FAVOURITE/BEST feature?
- Make note of the WORST feature on the phone?
- Have you rooted the phone? What modifications have you made to improve usability / battery etc?
I really like dual SIM capability, more RAM and internal storage...but I dislike the fact that only the AUS model (D855) will work on Telstra carrier 4GX band of 700mhz...but thankfully the international models work on 1800MHz 4G, with the D856 appearing to having more 4G band capability. I am also tossing up between whether or not to wait for the G4. Any thoughts and feedback would be appreciated.

Best if you ask this on whirlpool. But with regards to you other questions
- Where did you buy from? How long ago? Do you remember what you paid? I would highly suggest you get it from Kogan instead of a no name third party seller just for piece of mind when it comes to dealing with warranty and with logistics etc etc
- Any current deals for it now? Not that i know of
- Make note of your FAVOURITE/BEST feature? Dual Window
- Make note of the WORST feature on the phone? Its battery life
Trying to answer your question, since I had D858 and I am using D855 now,
-D858 no wireless charging, "quick circle" case is different than D855, no SlimPort function for D858
- I am in Hong Kong, so 4G is 4G, it supports the China 4G (TD-CDMA)
- QuickMemo+ is always really nice, and the camera got many features once you install Xcam, it has the features that the G2 got, no idea why G3 removed them
- don't use Android 5.0 now, over heating and battery drain for no reason
- screen using too much battery, 2K makes the phone feel slower compare to the G2, even my GPro feel a bit faster sometimes, and my GPro battery last forever
- I got it because it's like half price compare to Sony Xperia Z3 and those Samsungs, it can compare with them but half the price
Hi everyone! I've decided that the G4 is the right phone for me. After using the G3 for 8 months and bouncing back between the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and the Nexus 6 for the past few months, I've come to the conclusion that 5.5" screen size is perfect for my use and hand size - but I have a few questions before biting the bullet and ordering one.
I'll be switching over to T-Mobile for use here in the states from AT&T. Since I travel quite a bit to Europe, the H815 will cover the frequencies/bands I need to connect to data networks over there. My question is this - will the H815 version that's available to pre order support things like HD voice and WiFi calling? Or is this something that T-Mobile has to implement on to their phones and as a result, I must purchase their version of the phone? The HD voice isn't as important as the WiFi calling, I feel as if that is something worth purchasing the T-Mobile version for.
Cheers!
I believe you need the T-mo version for wifi calling. That's something they integrate into their version of the OS.
Sent from my LG-H811 using XDA Free mobile app
Wrightperspective is correct. The H815 has no native Wifi calling ability.

I see you're using the H811 model - that's the T-Mobile specific version, no?
And since I'll need the T-Mobile version, I now need to consider the LTE bands/frequencies of the T-Mobile version to ensure I'll have data whenever I travel to Europe.
Edit: I suppose some more food for thought could go towards ROM's and what not. Is it fair to assume that the H815 model will receive more support from devs since it's the international version and what not? I honestly think I'm okay with no WiFi calling if it means getting an unlocked bootloader quicker/more ROM support from the lovely XDA community.

It is always hard to predict what model will get dev support before it happens. Sometimes a phone with a world version will still get more support on one of the individual carrier versions. As for the frequencies, I did a brief compare based on the published information for the 810, 811, 815 over here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60992462&postcount=30

No. ALL TMobile features work with the US unlocked version. I'm using one myself on tmobile.
The only "feature" you'll be missing is the 600mhz/B71 band on T-Mobile, which is new an somewhat "upcoming" anyways. I think the S9 Tmo is one of the first phones (if not the only phone) to support this band.

The first phone carried by a US carrier to support the 600MHz was actually the LG V30. Since then the Moto Z2 Force, S9, S9+, Note 8, and S8 active all support 600MHz. Last week LG launched the first budget phone to support 600MHz, and that's the LG K30 at $225.
Edit: All, if not almost all of the phones I listed have native support for 600MHz (assuming Snapdragon versions), so all carriers phones if unlocked will be able to take advantage of the 600MHz on T-mobiles network.
Multi line (digits) doesn't appear to work in the unlocked version. The app still functions though, however the experience is so much better when it's baked into the firmware.
I'm on a sm-g960w on Rogers and they have a 2600mhz band that's nice when nobody's on it lol.
I recently flashed over to ARC6 (tmb I think) and then sideloaded an update up to ARDA (may update). My device reads sm-g960u now and I'm wondering if I'll still be able to get on that band.
Thanks in advance if anyone knows, the way I usually measure isn't working and I don't have root.

If you dial *#2263# do you also see US bands enabled like band 28, 71, 14???
If so I'd be willing to take my chances and would flash the U1/U baseband/firmware
I live in Greece. Based on all I've read, the exynos S20 isn't as good as the snapdragon version for battery (my #1 issue), general performance, and graphics. I can get a pretty decent price on the HK one. It supports all the bands Vodafone-Greece uses, and it comes with 12gb ram (instead of 8gb) and some 5G ability. 5G won't exist here for a while, so that's unimportant to me. Normally, the no-brainer answer is to buy the HK S20, but I am already aware that Samsung Greece will not honor the warranty because it's from a non-EU region (thought I think there is a recent EU law that says they must). So, a couple of questions before I make a purchase:
- What won't work in Europe, like VOLTE?
- Will I get the normal OTA updates (Android 11 and security patches) or will I have to download and install the firmwares updates myself

Whether or not you'll get VoLTE, WiFi Calling depends on the carrier. In some cases CSR's for Carrier Branded devices will say none of their features will work as they want potential customer's to purchase their device but that's not always the case. You won't know for certain until you test your device on their network. If the service provider's features are a priority then your best option is aquire their smartphone, you'll know they'll work. If you buy their Exynos device and it overheats or has fast battery drain you can return it under warranty for replacement or a refund. As much as we read about Exynos pitfalls there are many users who are pleased with the performance and have no issues. A lot of concerns come from users who put heavy workloads on their processers like gaming so it depends on your individual usage. I decided on the HK variant because most carrier features I can live without and I enjoy gaming. VoLTE and WiFi Calling features work on my T-Mobile's network, I also have access to Samsung Pay. Be aware you can't flash your service provider's firmware on a Snapdragon variant. You likely won't have some Carrier Aggeration like fast download speeds. You will get OTA Updates since they're distributed by Samsung, not your service provider.
Thank you for the thoughtful reply. Here in Greece, Vodafone doesn't currently support VOLTE or WiFi calling. I haven't used Samsung Pay up till now, but my bank doesn't support it, only Apple Pay & Google Pay, so not a big inconvenience. As to carrier aggregation, do you know why that wouldn't be fully supported and does your remark apply to 4G or just 5G? Does it have to do with the particular chipset & modem?

That's good to know.
So, I have been watching the 9 Pro as my next phone (upgrading from HTC U12+), but am really disappointed in a couple of things: (1) it appears there is no plan to certify the US version for AT&T 5G, and (2) no Astral Black for the US.
Since the 5G aspect is unlikely to change anytime soon, and AT&T 5G isn't really all that great anyway from what I hear, is there any downside to buying an EU Astral Black model and using it in the US? I'm still researching all the bands, but it appears the EU model is only missing two LTE bands in use by AT&T (Bands 29 and 30). To be fair, the US version is also missing Band 29 for the 700MHz spectrum, but does contain support for Band 30 at 2300MHz.
I'm going to log which bands are being used where I live and work but, if I will be limited to 4G/LTE anyway, I'm not seeing a downside to buying the EU version. Am I overlooking something? Any thoughts, suggestions, or input is greatly appreciated.
EU has additional options that neither the TMO or US int models have. At&t is behind on 5g deployments anyway so you shouldn't miss out on much, Verizon and TMO would've been better for that. As far as general reqs go, I don't see why not.

I believe that is true - I just want to make sure I'm not inadvertently limiting myself with 4G/LTE coverage by buying the EU version. I don't really care around home/work, as there is usually wifi available. My bigger concern would be coverage in my home area that might get dropped now due to the EU version missing a band that is available on the US version. Or, perhaps when traveling if the EU version is missing bands that other networks (roaming) may use.

You are correct. I call ATT about once a week asking if they're going to certify/whitelist OnePlus devices. I figure the more complaints they get, the more they'll be inclined to investigate it.
To add to this, most people I speak to have never even heard of OnePlus, which makes the conversation troublesome. Be completely prepared for ATT employees to feed you bad information, say your device isn't compatible (does not have the required hardware), is inferior to Samsung/Motorola/iPhone, and try to sell you a new phone or sent you a new SIM card.
I've posted before about calling ATT. I feel everyone who has their service should call on a regular basis. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

And the strange part is they have the 9 and 9 Pro listed on their list of devices that will still work on their network (VoLTE) after they shutdown their 3G service next year. Gives me hope they will certify at some point.
I run this phone on AT&T, and while I don't get 5G speeds, I get very fast LTE+ speeds of around 200mbps.
Thanks all for the input. After some more thought, I believe I have decided on the pine green US version. It's going to be in a case anyway, and I've had very few cases that aren't black. So, if it will be black anyway due to the case, I might as well get the US version. Plus, I think the black case and green camera bump will look sharp.
Reviving an old thread, rather starting anew:
I want to get the 9 pro for T-mobile use in US. I need dual sims and want custom roms...
I saw that "toolhas4degrees" said they had a Chinese model with EU firmware. I don't know if he changed the firmware himself or what... A bit out of my capabilities.
Simply put: What would I need to do (if anything) to get the EU (LE2123) OnePlus 9 Pro to work with T-mobile?
Thanks!
