get frija's firmware download tool
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/how-to/tool-frija-samsung-firmware-downloader-t3910584
go to sammobile.com/firmwares and find the version you need for your phone then enter the necessary info into Frija's tool and download the zip you need. Unzip the contents into a folder that you can easily find, then go get the most recent version of odin (3.13.1 https://odindownload.com/SamsungOdin/ ) and retry.
I was trying to flash a new firmware version on an A8 yesterday and it got stuck because i was using Odin 3.10.1 instead of the new one.
Hope this helps

[Q] Got Stuck on Download Mode. Need Help 4.3

Hello there,
I've previously used Odin to install several versions on several phones, so at leas I know some very basics, like, using Odin and what not.
Here's my problem. I rooted my 4.3, it gave me some trouble, and the main reason I wanted it rooted was to get backups for my apps. Turns out I can back up my data with carbon "rooted-unrooted" so I decided to ditch the root since it was giving me some hassle with the security update thing and titanium was not working properly. "had to do some other stuff and I was kind of tired.
Turns out I tried to install my other official firmware I had "4.1". Sadly, upon using Odin with it, it now says that I'm trying to install an unsupported version and won't proceed... I'm stuck in here because I cannot restart by pressing up+power because it gives me an error and says I need to restart in download mode.
I was wondering if installing a fresh copy of 4.3 would fix this. Yet I've been unable to find any actual official files... yeah... I know this sounds pathetic, but... I've been herer for an hour + and have not found either a solution or the original 4.3 file or whichever file I would need for this.
Decided to turn unto this community which has helped me a lot in the past to solve all my previous issues.
So... How do I install a fresh 4.3 or how do I get out of this mess? My cell phone doesn't turn on, it just tells me the following:
Firmware Upgrade Encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I had 4.3 installed with all the security crap on it, so when I go to download mode and install 4.1, it says that the verison is unsopported...
Thank you all in advance.
Download Mr Robinson's 4.3 rooted ROM from here.
Flash it via ODIN and you should be good to go.
Your phone is already on 4.3 bootloader and it is not letting you downgrade to any version below it.

This Phone is a pain ( wont take a rom rooted and unlocked)

Im using Twrp and i have tryied a few zips for few roms i hit install and it dose some stuff then it fails, it keeps saying error flashing zip what is with the is phone its been giving me hell all day
First off, I tried twrp once, and since it made changes (overriding stock recovery) without my consent, i went back to CWM and will never look back. Are the zips you're trying to flash for your model of phone, e.g. takju, yakju, etc.? Who is your carrier? Have you checked your downloaded file hashes to make sure the downloads are good?
im used to the cwm, i tried the twrp because it was in the kit i hate it tho, how do i get rid of it, ive been trying to flash the toro as my phone is on verizon, i downloaded a few on the phone on my pc, from here from the unlockr, i been trying to figure this thing out
Had the same issue with TWRP. I really liked a lot of the things that set it apart from CWM, but the darn thing just flat out refused to install anything I threw at it.
First off, you'll want to make sure you have adb and fastboot set up on your computer and know how to run them. There are some great guides out there to get you started if you need. Then if you want to get CWM installed, download the appropriate version from their download site. Plug your phone into your computer and boot it into fastboot, then you can use the "fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img" on your computer to install the CWM recovery image.
Ok, I was using the all in one took kit because this phone is different and it seems to make the job ten times harder, I managed to get to cmw on my phone but i still can not get the zip to flash, I would know how to work fast boot once i get it opened up ive used it quite a few times, ive gotten my roms from the site so i am pretty sure they are good i actual put the zip on the phone too to makes use it wasn't the cable or the phone being unplugged so do is there any other suggestions

Rooted Phone Won't Turn on after trying to update and Recovery Won't Work!

My phone won't turn on and is stuck on loading screen after trying to download an Asus update.
I didn't mean to install the update as i knew a problem would occur. I have the 2.3ghz version of the phone with 64gb of storage with Lollipop.
When i try to go into recovery it says it is installing update for a couple seconds then it gives an error so i can't get into that.
Can someone help me and give detailed instructions on what to flash and how to flash something to my phone via ADB or something?.. The phone is also rooted obviously
I gave as much information as i can think of right now.
I greatly appreciate any help. I have looked at some threads but I don't know how or what to flash and if it even relates to my phone at all.
This is what I've looked at so far:

Thanks , Austin
try to reflash again the system.img or firmware and use this for rooting make more easy https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B936USMlQhtKbmZLZDE3N1JMazA/view
Thanks for the fast response . But how may i flash this to my phone? And is that toolbox for the zenfone 2?
Nevermind i figured out how to flash the image and that type of stuff.. But idk what image i should flash. I go to the Asus website and find the latest version which is 2.20.40 but on the XDA post it has like 2.13.10 or the lower versions.
Would it be ok to flash any system image to it? Mine has 2.19.40.22 on it right now when i checked in recovery. ( Which i got working , It was giving an error)
Thanks
Hmmm
Trying to flash the firmware to the phone and in adb it says it cannot read the firmware. I literally copy and paste and try almost everything and it says it cannot read it still. I don't know what to do if anyone can please help.. Been stuck without a phone for days :/
I typed adb sideload UL-Z00A-WW-2.19.40.22-user.zip and it will not read it or do anything.

Note 7 possibly bricked

Hi all,
so im coming here to ask you for a help.
Yesterday i have read about samsung pushing deactivating update for our notes 7, i have panicked and immediately started with installing TWRP, HydraRom and root to block incoming updates.
But, as i have already found out, my skills with android and flashing are already gone. So i have installed twrp, then rom and tried to reboot but phone was showing a lot of error messages and notification about low memory, which is weird. After couple of hours of seeking i have found out, that i should try to fix /data and /storage in TWRP by converting from EXT4 to ExFat... So i tried it, but phone suddenly died when it was repartitioning and now im stuck with note which is unable to boot or go to recovery. I can get into download mode yet when i try to flash anythin (whole rom, just bl, TWRP) odin shows immediately FAIL!
Does anyone know if there is way how to fix my note 7? I was thinking maybe a PIT file would help, but im unable to find one...
EDIT: Tried methods found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-7/how-to/fix-samsung-note-7-snapdragon-exynos-sm-t3443753 but no luck, same story with smartswitch as Odin, flash begins but immediately fails and note comes out of download mode.
So I have made decision, that I will add bounty - 50 bucks (will pay through PayPal) to anyone who will find way how to make my note work!
You should return your Note 7 to Samsung. Its safer and if want to do trial and error. I've found it possible to rescue any phone as long as you can put it in download mode ?
Sent from my SM-N930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
I know i should return it, but i really want to keep it atleast as a second phone, anyone has a solution please ?
Before trying to install twrp and custom Rom what firmware were you on? If I were you I'd download the stock firmware from Samsung site open Odin and put phone into download mode I'm sure that will work.
I was on the newest one, with green battery indicator. I have already tried flashing official rom downloaded from sammobile, but odin always only states fail! After a second, meanwhile phone leaves the download mode and gets stuck on bootloop.
When I try to entry recovery phone gets stuck on TWRP screen but doesn't actually start TWRP.
I will send 50 bucks through PayPal to first of you guys, who will lead me to the successful repair of my note!

Help Needed - Bricked

Before I get going - yes I know I messed up. I do have plenty of experience flashing ROMs etc, albeit I'm absolutely not an expert. This was purely a not thinking moment.
So I flashed my Samsung Tab S4 with Kali Nethunter a while back, not really used the tab since. Without a great deal of thought, I decided to put the device back to factory. I went back into the OS and flicked the OEM toggle - utter braindead move. Obviously the device now comes up with a warning, the exact wording is:
"Security Error: This device has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that repair / return for this issue may have additional cost"
I can still access download mode.
Right, now you've finished laughing/cussing me I did some digging and apparently I can still flash with Odin if its the official ROM? I went to SAMMobile and downloaded the latest ROM and Odin fails with a write error.
What I need to know is:
How bad have I messed up?
Is this recoverable?
Any help appreciated.
Hello there,
So yes, pretty bad mistake but these things happen but it should be recoverable. Just follow the link to get your device booted up! Hopefully the link is for your variant, if not look into installing twrp recovery for your device. Once installed you can back up your data and flash the rom compatible using twrp. Then set up the device and restore your data but make sure it's unlocked or your error may repeat itself! Also you have to find the right version of Odin, they do vary some are patched. Have fun!!
Recovery
Hi,
Thanks for the reply Jedi.
It already has TWRP on it, but recovery is inaccessible since I turned the OEM lock back on. The only thing I can now access is download mode but it can't seem to write to it, which I'm guessing is because the OEM lock is back on. I thought I might still be able to write the official Samsung ROMs even with the OEM lock but it doesnt seem like its the case. Obviously no access to ADB to do a Fastboot unlock either. Fresh out of ideas.
Any other solutions?
bump - anyone? lol, really not looking for an expensive door stop.
It seems you're at the dead end. However, there might be a solution for this, not sure though does it work. But go to OnePlus forum and you'll find how to recover from bricked device. You still got hope because of TWRP. good luck bro
OK, so for anyone wondering if this is fixable, the answer is YES!
You can flash the standard ROM even with the bootloader locked. Clearly what I downloaded from SAMMobile wasnt compatible, however when I used Frija, it found and downloaded the correct ROMs.
Another sticking point of this was the infamous USB 2.0 issue, I assumed the ROM was failing again, however when I finally could be arsed to try it on my old PC, its worked like a charm.
So there you have it:
Latest version of Odin
Latest Samsung USB drivers
Latest ROM downloaded from Frija
Put the tablet into download mode and flash away.
