Hi all, I usually have my s621 set to vibrate and ring, just rescently ive noticed it isn't vibrating. I change the profile to vibrate only, and when I get a call or text, the screen lights up, but it still doesn't vibrate. I've only had it for like a month and a half. Any ideas, or ways to test it? Has anyone else had this happen with an htc dash, or any htc device really???
well i did a soft reset and the vibrate function seems to be working now. My s621 will live to see another day

Funny what a soft-reset can do, the IT crowd say it all the time "Turn it off & back on again"

It's true what you say, whenever my phone acts up, I'll soft reset or I just turn it off for a couple of minutes and its back to running great.
hello. i have bought a desire few days ago. yesterday i notice a problem. i have search the internet but havent find anything similar.
when i press the power button to turn of the screen after i press it again to turn on my screen sometimes the screen turns green and i cant do anything.
this thing doesnt happens all the time. but is preaty annoying and i have to remove the battery.
does anybody have an idea what is the problem
I think it's a hardware failure. Best way is to contact HTC Support.
i am not sure if ita hardware problem. because i notice that moso of the time that this happens is when i lock my screen when an application is open.

I don't think you'll find that's an unusual thing to do! I do it all the time, and have never experienced the problem.
As has already been mentioned, chances are it is a problem with you particular device - especially since you haven't had it for long. However, it could be an app causing the problem, so I'd suggest a factory reset in the first place and see how it performs in a more "vanilla" state.
If it behaves itself, start adding your apps back in again, and hopefully you'll find one causing the problem.
Regards,
Dave
i have already did a factory reset a nothing change. i thing the problem is with the lock screen after i press the power button.. i install no lock now on my phone that disable the lock screen and seems to work ok now.
one thing i forgot to mention is that the problem apear after i did a factory reset.
if this was a hardware problem shouldn't be happening all the time?
i just send an email to htc and inform them with my problem.

Turn it round the other way - if it was a software problem, it would be happening to everyone using the same ROM as you.
Regards,
Dave
yes i know that. but since i disable the lock screen. the problem dissapear.
Today I took my phone to the shop I bought it and after half an hour of trying to show to the guy there what's was the problem. He gave me a replacement.

Hello everybody, i'm fresh new.
Also on my htc desire I have this problem, if you are able to use the device, without see the screen content, you can also shut down the phone. I say shut down because the problem disappear if you stop the phone (or leave the battery) for some minute. it's like all the meroy needs to be lost.
I had this problems some months ago, I unistalled one-by-one the apps, and it worked, now I have installed (during the last 5 months) other apps, and from 3days ago it restarted with this problem.

I am doing but I'm not sure it's the best solution.
I think it is related to some apps, some software problem, but I removed almost all my apps.
I noticed also that if I press the lock/unlock button for some secs, the problem there isn't. But it happen again (most of the time) when I put the device on charge, without turn it off, then when it finished it's a little bit hot and the display doesn't work.
I think it's a problem of the lock button, not software.
what is the name of this app?

I think is a problem related to the memory of the phone. Because I don't have new apps on my Desire.
If I move all my apps on the SD Card, it never (almost) happen...but if some Widget, on the phone, starts in background..
when I push the bottom at the top...the display doesn't switch on.

screen problem
Hi just wondered if anyone else has had this problem bought a desire a few days ago seemed to work fine but it has begun to act a little strange from time to time. from time to time the touch screen will not work just locks up, also the screen goes crazy flipping from one screen to the next, came with android 2.2 but upgraded it to android 2.3 from the HTC official site using HTC sync thought this may stop it, it does not happen as often now but still does it have to turn the phone off then back on again for it to work, anyone got any ideas on this and how I may cure it Thanks for your time.
Nick
I noticed that sometimes when I use the power button to turn off my screen, after 1-2secs later, the screen turns back on again automatically on its own. Happened quite a few times Already. Anyone with the same experience?
Haven't seen it happen.
Not seen this personally but there were some occasions when I picked up the phone and the screen was on. I'd assume I'd accidentally pressed the power button when picking it up.
Didbyou enable some options in S-Motion? Some of those options will turn screen on.

It happens mostly after a new app installation. The app is usually a spam and hence it keeps on turning the screen. Try to figure it own by removing apps one by one ever since the problem started.

Yes I think this could happen when "Quick Glance " is enabled. A few days ago, I was cleaning with a cloth the screen of my Note 2 and the screen went on (I haven't pressed accidentally the power button of my phone)
Daniel
No no its not quick glance.. It's almost like my power buttonmay be too ssensitive. And the screen typically turns on just 1-2secs after I turn off the screen manually. Doesn't happen frequently but still about once a day?

Have you installed any app like Pocket Sensor?
I use this amazing app, which can behave like this sometime when anything overshadows the proximity sensor.

I had exactly the same issue and maybe it's coincidence but the issue went away after I disabled Quick Glance. Been over a week now and this used to happen at least once a day.

I have EXACTLY..this problem.. it happens a few times a week to me.. Quite annoying sometimes.
I've been suspecting that its because of a application, namely, Kakao-talk, which is a IM application. I can't really recall my screen turning on suddenly when using any other app, but I will wait and see if it happens outside of Kakaotalk.
If the problem persists, i might hand it in to service...
its quite annoying sometimes. I have heard of other people having the same problem though...
i noticed my my galaxy nexus after updating to 4.2 buring more oil ! than 4.12 and i was wondering why
!!!!
i installed odex and pre rooted on Gnexus forum and now i found why it burns more battery than before !
screen in my phone turn on automatically every 1 minutes and sure it will stay for 15 second to turn off automatically , its bug ! actually i hope it getting fixed
any other guy faced this issue ?
Had this problem occassionally on Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus. As far as I recall, this is android bug, sometimes triggered by third party apps. Google 'screen turning on by itself' to find out more.

I thought only I had this weird issue... its really annoying and my battery is getting drained up very fast...
So I've been seeing a lot of talk about the 8.1 finger print scanner delay, but to my knowledge, this is something else. Anywhere from 10-20% of the time when I go to wake my phone, whether by pressing the power button, or using the fingerprint scanner, the screen remains black. The phone will vibrate like it successfully read my fingerprint, but the display just won't come on. I have to then wait anywhere from a couple seconds to a full minute before it will come on. It's almost like the phone is in doze mode and just doesn't want to wake up. Has anyone had this problem, or know of a possible cause? It's driving me a little nutty. Definitely is something that has popped up since updating to 8.1.

Is your phone stock with a locked bootloader? Have you tried wiping the cache partition from Recovery?
Edit: Possibly related LINK
It could be the 8.1 proximity sensor issue under discussion here.
Funny you bring that up, I just bought the phone and went straight to 8.1 . It's happened twice. I thought the phone powered off. I'm unlocked and rooted. I can't pinpoint the when and how but has happened and will pay closer attention.

OMG thank you for linking this! I was going crazy trying to figure out whether it was something I'd done, or something related to the 8.1 update. My phone is rooted, and I'll have a go at removing magisk and seeing if that helps. Again, thank you!

I'm not so sure.... maybe a root app? The long thread I linked to has several suspect root apps, but I haven't had a single reboot and have been rooted on both 8.0 & 8.1.
So it happened twice this morning, both while connected to pc and wall charger when left alone for awhile. Maybe something with deep sleep while charging? Not sure.

Are you Iranian? Because your grammer is weak.
Anyways, you should visit a technician because it might be a hardware problem, as you said it would turn on againg by tapping on the back of the phone.
