I noticed that sometimes when I use the power button to turn off my screen, after 1-2secs later, the screen turns back on again automatically on its own. Happened quite a few times Already. Anyone with the same experience?
Haven't seen it happen.
Not seen this personally but there were some occasions when I picked up the phone and the screen was on. I'd assume I'd accidentally pressed the power button when picking it up.
Didbyou enable some options in S-Motion? Some of those options will turn screen on.

My galaxy s2 would do that all the time just come and go off ... Blahhhhhhhhhh

It happens mostly after a new app installation. The app is usually a spam and hence it keeps on turning the screen. Try to figure it own by removing apps one by one ever since the problem started.

Yes I think this could happen when "Quick Glance " is enabled. A few days ago, I was cleaning with a cloth the screen of my Note 2 and the screen went on (I haven't pressed accidentally the power button of my phone)

No no its not quick glance.. It's almost like my power buttonmay be too ssensitive. And the screen typically turns on just 1-2secs after I turn off the screen manually. Doesn't happen frequently but still about once a day?

Have you installed any app like Pocket Sensor?
I use this amazing app, which can behave like this sometime when anything overshadows the proximity sensor.

I had exactly the same issue and maybe it's coincidence but the issue went away after I disabled Quick Glance. Been over a week now and this used to happen at least once a day.

I have EXACTLY..this problem.. it happens a few times a week to me.. Quite annoying sometimes.
I've been suspecting that its because of a application, namely, Kakao-talk, which is a IM application. I can't really recall my screen turning on suddenly when using any other app, but I will wait and see if it happens outside of Kakaotalk.
If the problem persists, i might hand it in to service...
its quite annoying sometimes. I have heard of other people having the same problem though...
i noticed my my galaxy nexus after updating to 4.2 buring more oil ! than 4.12 and i was wondering why
!!!!
i installed odex and pre rooted on Gnexus forum and now i found why it burns more battery than before !
screen in my phone turn on automatically every 1 minutes and sure it will stay for 15 second to turn off automatically , its bug ! actually i hope it getting fixed
any other guy faced this issue ?
Had this problem occassionally on Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus. As far as I recall, this is android bug, sometimes triggered by third party apps. Google 'screen turning on by itself' to find out more.

How do I prevent the screen from turning on everytime I plug it into the charger, remove it, or it gets to 100%?
I plug it in all the time and I always have to turn the screen off or suffer the wrath of screen timeout. When I unplug to place it in my pocket, again, I must turn the screen off, WHY? The s3 comes with an LED indicator for a reason, so we don't have to have the screen on. WHO IS THIS FOR EXACTLY?!?!
I know this isn't the end of the world but it's annoying as hell! - I can't be the only one can I?
Plug it in.. press lock... it's one button press man.
Wrath of Screen Timeout? Explain?

Technically it's several presses a day. This is a legitimate question that I think a lot of people would at least be interested in. I know a lot of people have learned to live with it by now but we should have the option by now. I mean come on, is this Android or isn't it?

Just a spicy way of saying wait for the screen to turn off by itself. Any ideas?

I agree with you. Its really annoying. Ive been able to disable the screen turning on when unplug but havent been able to get it to stay off when plugging in. BTW this is on CM10.
How often do you charge your phone that you're pressing the button several times a day? I plug it in at night, ok good my alarms on, press off. Unplug it in the morning, oh new emails, unlock, etc, press off.
I don't think anyone has coded it out yet because it's not very noticeable. I spent some time searching but couldn't find anything, complaints or otherwise. Maybe try posting in a custom ROM and seeing if any of those guys have ideas? Anyways, free bump..
Screen Blanks off when charging/laid down

Go to the market and D/L Screebl (Screen Blank)
I set it for min and after 4 secs the screen blanks off. If I have the phone in a using/upright position, It will not go off...
Very Simple and useful app. The portrait and landscape settings are user adjustable. Try it. You'll like it!
Awesome suggestions guys, thank you so much! I'll be in Ohio for a few days but when I get back I'll try some of these out, Thx again.

Just a thought, what about using the proximity sensor to keep the screen off? I leave my phone screen down when it's charging and when you unplug it it's most likely going in your pocket right?

It still turns on. :\ it's like a wake lock. However it does shut off right away if the sensor is covered

Have any one experieced it yet ? sometime my GN2 just hang, the screen doesnt work, and the power button would not turn it on, i have to remove the battery to start it again.
No problems here. I will probably have nightmares about the Note II turning into the G2X now.

I had started another thread similar to this. I have the same problem. I rooted using the 2, 4, 1 method and all was fine. Then I started having the same problem you are experiencing. The power button would not turn the phone off and all screens are frozen. Only removing the battery works.
I have since booted into recovery (CWM) and fixed permissions and that appears to have solved the problem for now. If anything else comes up I will update my post.
My phone will just randomly vibrate all the time throughout the day. Most of the time it just does a quick little buzz but sometimes it buzzes twice real fast and the pops up a bunch of options of how I want to open it. I opened it once and it was just and email. But it keeps doing it and has for a couple weeks now. I reset my phone and it still does it. Has anyone ever heard of this phone doing this before?

sorry mate..cant help u there. but one idea..u can always use it as a vibrator
Usually that means something force close. I would say if u are on a ROM re flash it and that should fix the problem
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Sounds like your device is producing bug reports. They start with a single vibration, finish with a double, and then give you a list of options so you can share the bug report. Try disabling debugging in developer options and see if it stops.
It's there a possibility that both volume buttons and the power button after being pressed simultaneously prior to these vibrations? This is they key combination to generate a bug report.

None of the buttons are sticking. The USB debugging was checked so I unchecked it. I'll see how the phone acts over the next day or so. Thank you.

The random vibrations on my Galaxy S4 Dual sim stopped after I logged in to my Samsung account and updated it. No more random vibrations since.

Yup, this is because you have debugging turned on... When you press all three HW keys, you send it a command to do a bug report and then it vibrates once(This use to happen to me quite often and by accident when unlocking the phone). It takes some time to create the bug report (about a minute) and when it's done it vibrates twice and prompts you to send the bug report via mail.
Turn off USB debugging and this won't happen anymore.
Is it the on body protection? Under smart lock
This started happening 4 or 5 days ago and I thought it would just fix itself but nothing yet.. When I press my sleep button most of the time it takes me to my lock screen before the screen going black but showing the clock and then it will cut off. Or sometimes it will just take 3 or 4 seconds before turning the screen off. It doesn't have any trouble waking up though. This afternoon I replied to a text message and then just left the conversation screen open and went to sleep the phone, it went to the lock screen but just stayed there and it was showing the time on the status bar, something it doesn't show when I'm on the lock screen. I pressed the button again and it was like the screen was off because it showed the normal screen. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I'm stock rooted, and it hadn't been doing this a week ago.. Thanks in advance

sounds like sleep lag...you might try to reboot it couple times
When I first noticed it happening I rebooted a few times and now I've rebooted almost once a day. Do I need to do multiple reboots one after the other?

I would wipe it and start over.

I did the reboot and just left it, it doesn't lag every time I sleep it now, but it still does sometimes.. Haven't tried wiping it yet, would a complete wipe really help?
Yes, it would help. Could have a rouge app somewhere. It socks having to start over, but your not the only one considering it. May have to do so as well as I keep getting wake locks in stand by mode and unless I reset it, I lose mucho battery life.

Fix the wake locks instead of resetting the phone. That's the smart way to do it.

Hello people I am desperate with my HOX.
After spending one month in service my HOX returned to me with new board and new battery last Friday of September.
One week later I already had 2 problems.
At first battery didnt last longer than 5 hours.
After a few full charges over the days this was fixed as the phone lasted at least 14 to 15 hours which is fine by me.
Today I turned it on in the morning and everything was fine.
Due to excessive work load I did even touched my phone for the next 8 hours.
After finishing work I tried to check if I had any calls or anything but to my surprise the HOX was off !!!!!!!!!!
I tried turning it off but it was dead.
I performed a full charge and this time the phone made the sound of the turning on but only the menu buttons turned on but the screen remained black.
Is there something I can do about this?
Your help will be very much appreciated.
sounds like your board has screwed up again, mine was same issue

Well it shouldnt be the board because the phone is working behind the screen. I reboot holding the power button down and the phone vibrates and makes the htc sound turning on.The screen came up once or twice but it was unresponsive. The clock and weather was right on but the phone also showed that it was on airplane mod.Pushing all around I even heard the navigation welcoming me.
Its really bizzare.I cant understand what is causing this and I suspect it should be pretty simple.....

Tried every trick and gimmick I read about from a dozen forums but nothing worked. All of the sudden at some point the screen appeared and it even let me unlock but trying to bring up the htc clock and apps got stuck in the middle of the screen and hitting the power button dissapered and went to black again.Off to service it goes on Monday for the 3rd time since May and the 2nd for the last month.I hope they will accept to replace it this time......
