Will Google service centre accept the bootloader unlocked device within warranty? - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

I am facing screen flickering issues on my 3xl under low brightness. This gave me daily headaches for one month seriously.
So I'm thinking to take the Google support in this matter. I'm not rooted but bootloader was unlocked. Will they consider it to service under warranty or not?
I'm from India.
Thanks for help

Check that smart pixels is off.

Google does not care if it is unlocked, they will warranty it.

I apologize. I don't think stock Pie has that option. I know the ROM I am using has it, and it caused a flickering issue.

Yes i am aware of that. I too used such Rom. But i don't know it removes flickering. But isn't that resulting dark or dull display?

Look under Battery in settings?

Yeah they are fine with it, that's why I'm basically locked into Google phones for life, no other manufacturer for US phones is like this and supportive of the rooting community.

what can i do with this phone? (brightness fix?)

im dealing with this Note 4 from verizon for someone right now and i cant get to do anything with this damn locked bootloader!
due to a unrelated issue i upgraded the phone to LP and now i cant root. but to make matters worse the brightness cant be lowered. i read how to fix it but i need a custom recovery to install the zip, i cant install a custom recovery because i cant root.
i tried downgrading but i cant because of the bootloader (Bootloops at verizon logo). cant install mulitsystem because of no root because of that bootloader. its a infinite loop. as much as i want root ill settle for fixing the brightness.
Turn on power saver mode. It dims the screen
What do you mean it won't lower? Restart device than try. Factory reset and see if lowers. If still no, get replacement device.

Turning on power savings didn't work.
And factory resetting also does not work.
The phone is OK, brightness control works in kk but it's a bug of upgrading to lollipop it's even stated in the list but below the list is a fix zip but I can't flash it because of no custom recovery

Request a replacement from Verizon. I have never heard of brightness issues with Lollipop
I can't send this to verizon I brought from eBay and replaced a part inside. And I force update to lollipop, no ota. It's a common issue with this phone if you update but I was supposed to root then update.

Do you pay for total equipment coverage? If so none of that should really matter. Unless you modified the phone i doubt they will notice a replacement part.

sure didn't. i brought the phone full knowing all responsibility for it. but sending it ti repair is totally out of the question, that would leave me phone less for some time. and plus i kind of have a thing against sending things in for repair 0_0
i assume unless someone knows otherwise i guess ill have to wait for a ota to fix it.

When people were having a problem with this they were using a program called lux brightness in the Play Store.

pink rings when using the camera with flash!

Hi,
I got a Verizon pixel XL recently and it's currently on Android 7.1.2 build no NJH47F. I have this weird issue wherein whenever I use the flash to take a picture and focus on an object that is not nearby, I get pinkish rings on my photos. It's mostly on one side so I'm thinking that this is a hardware issue but I'm not entirely sure. Is there any software solution to this or is this a hardware problem entirely. My bootloader is unlocked so I'm ready to flash anything required to rectify this. I'm also attaching a few pictures to give you guys an idea of what I'm talking about. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Looks like reflection from a case. This could also be like leak from the flash housing.

Thanks but I don't use a case so it can't be that. Might be the leak as you mentioned. Is there any way to verify or fix that? I am asking for a return but I want to avoid that process if possible.
Thanks

Not sure if it would be something you could fix other than taking the phone apart.
Years ago Motorola had this issue.

September security patch Verizon!!!

Just got my OTA.. time to restore theme and update!
#prayforunlockedbootloadersoon!!!
PS: Downloading now
just throwing my personal experience out there.
After updating, i had super crappy reception and extremely slow speeds. i actually ended up flashing just the radio from "8.0.0 (OPR6.170623.012, Aug 2017)" to get decent service back.

I think some devs are closer than what you think. Lol. They have found the source to rebuild our bootloader.

You need root first. Without root it won't happen. Unlocking it is easy, getting privs to perform the unlock is the issue.

good luck replacing the boot loader without an unlocked bootloader. hint: if it was that easy, we could already replace the bootloader with the unlocked variant.

I did the exact same thing
My update seems to fix the blue tooth problem I had in a 2017 Tahoo with the phone not working. I think at this point it may have fixed the battery life issue I was having too. That may be too soon to tell.
nope battery still is draining fast. Not sure why. It did not seem to start until I installed O in beta. I thought maybe it would have fixed it self, But did not as of now.

My battery life is subpar as well...
The first picture shows my battery results for the day after charging for exactly 30 minutes at lunch... Huge difference if you can squeeze in that 30 minutes!

i can also confirm that reception has decreased. i travel weekly into a low coverage area and always got service but 1 bar with some 3G and now i just get no service in those areas.
I have gotten the best battery life out of September I've ever had. Wonder why your phones are different.
I run Tasker and get lots of cloud messages.

Colour display not sharp

Pls I need help on how to overcome this bad display on my note5 because it's look horrible when viewing it.can it be resolved by using custom rom, kernel or any better ideal on what to do about it.plssss
Use any custom kernel and fix that with color control..
My display wasn't bad even without custom Kernel.. Seriously does people expect 1000$ Quality screen on an under 200$ device? I not even had screen burn or anything like that after 1 year of use now. Even though I use sRGB now since almost a half year.

You need twrp yep. Not root. It's not that complicated. Begin by unlocking the bootloader. You can find the to-do on xiaomi.eu topic.
Change from stock to xiaomi.eu is life changer ^^

I started out if the box with global, then miui.eu and now MMX (without any ads too). Never had to suffer from any green tin nor proximity sensor issues at all.
Phone purchased in Europe (The Netherlands).
This being said, if, like me you hate ads, and if you decide to root your phone which is really not complicated with TWRP installed, just install adaway, and you will be rid of ads entirely !

It is a lot better. I tried the stock global for a week or two and it was full of bugs and pré-installed apps that I couldn't remove easily.
It doesn't void warranty if you don't root or something. Xiaomi is cool about that.
Anyway, topic subject has been answered I think, no need to ask about other things

The cost is a main reason. More than $100 cheaper is quite large money for some people, and that is at the original price. Larger gap when on discount.

No, I don't remember having this issue at anytime, even when I opened the box with MIUI global ROM.
As I see that there are other lucky users without any issues (no green tin nor proximity sensor issues), I suppose it's depending on the production batch of the phone or of some of its components.

Unlocking of the bootloader is made available to make sure that MIUI developer ROMs can be tested by users and will be covered under warranty. Bootloader unlocking does not inherently void your hardware warranty. But a case where the unlocking results in a brick which cannot be fixed via software, the warranty will be void.
According to the statement, bootloader unlock is made available for users to try MIUI developer ROMs. And thus, it will not void the warranty of any Xiaomi or Redmi smartphone. But if the device bricks after unlocking and could not be fixed via software, then the warranty will be void.

I buy my phone from Coolblue.be, but nothing will guarantee that another batch will be the same.
This being said, due to the diversity of situations and given the (possible) possibility of a software solution, I don't want to advise you anything.
Chilean here with a Poco F3 since not too long ago, haven't had green tint issue or proximity sensor issue, I guess it depends of manufacturing date of the phone? (Tested many times, for the green tint tested black/gray/dark gray images at min brightness and 120Hz since the issue seems more noticeable like that, no issues so far)
Still have base ROM without unlocking bootloader nor installing other ROM, last time I had a S8+ and honestly root and custom rom weren't that worth it tbh

Xiaomi.eu ist not an AOSP Rom. It's a fork of the MIUI China Rom.
