It seems that this phone has a lot of issues and problems that are constantly being ignored or not cared about by Samsung.
Is this phone worth it, or am I better off selling it and buying an A50 which seems to have the attention of Samsung? Because The A50 has gotten so many updates compared to the A70 that is still on Security patch level: May.
I've had an A70 for about a month now and it's one of the best phones I've ever had. Battery averages at two days, screen is bright and always legible in bright sunlight, phone is fast and smooth. Fingerprint unlock used to be crap but updates have made it work ok. Face recognition is good. Camera is pretty good - again it's improving with updates.
I think it's the best phone for the price.
I'm really happy with mine but yeah the fingerprint reader isn't the best but it's still a great phone
Have not had any problem with this phone. To be honest, worth every Penny I paid for it.
At the moment I don't have one as my contract is due for an upgrade in October. But I as usual I have been doing research about this device and I must say the pro out weighs the cons by a mile. All the you tube reviews from unboxing to month on reviews are all positive. I am even overlooking the A80 as the A70 offers so much more for my money. Stick to your phone bud. You are in the teething phase now
I have been using a V30 and S8+ for the last year (1 was a personal device and the other as work phone). Performance on both phones was identical, with the key differences being the camera (better on the v30) and the ergonomics (v30 won this as well). Most recently I purchased the A70 and have been using it as my daily driver for the last 2 weeks or so. I have the A70 setup exactly the same way as both the V30/S8+. Same apps, settings, etc. I can say from a performance point of view, I have not missed the V30/S8+ at all. The A70 runs the same apps without any noticeable performance difference. I am not a huge gamer but there are a few that are always installed on my phones.. and they run the exact same on the A70, as they did on the S8+/V30. I haven't seen a difference in load times, or graphics and performance has been the same. Camera quality is pretty good. I thought Id miss the wide angle from the V30 but the A70 has it as well. Front camera on the A70 is much better than both the S8 and the nearly useless front cam on the v30. Battery life is fantastic. I get 2 days usage from the A70, whereas the S8+ gave me 1 day. Audio quality to my ears is the same. That is a lot considering the A70 runs on the SD675 and the V30/S8+ on the SD 835. The display is crisp and what you expect from a samoled. I would say yes, the phone is def worth it. Removable storage, huge battery, fantastic 1080p display, BT 5.0. and great performance. This phone has met all my expectations.. and I am glad I bought this rather than an s10+ which is more than double the cost of this phone.

As Stillriza I used a S8+ (for 2 years). I now have the A70 since 1.5 months. The fingerprint unlock is good since last software update (when it is difficult I honestly have an explication such as finger is just coming out of water, long pressure on the finger...).
The 32Mp camera is good outside by day but the quality decreases when the light is decreasing (much worse than the camera of the S8+).
I haven't notice any slowdons on apps compared to S8+.
The screen has a lower resolution than the S8+ one but bigger. It is really not visible and it is very good and effective in the sun.
I will keep this "pocket computer" for a long time. I think it really worth its price.
For that price
i owned the phone before, if you want my advice: forget samsung and go for xiaomi mi 9t (redmi k20) as i did, you will not regret it.
Yes i'm totally happy with my a70, not a perfect device but exceeded my expectations by miles
I will list cons only here:
1-white colour has a tint to it, but no problem may be the amoled nature or my calibration
2-prefer stock android, but one ui is so good
3-no twrp or easy root and custom roms yet, but i will wait
4-no stereo speakers, but the included speaker is loud enough
other than than all are pros not cons
I like it. it's not perfect but it has better native apps than most phones I've owned.
fingerprint sensor is nearly impossible to get to work
but the phone has a night mode for its settings. has a great onboard keyboard. it has its own app store, theme store.
File explorer is very usable. I'm off 3rd party apps for the most part.
The music app is super fast to load the artworks. Sees most artworks. takes 48 hours but indexed my 300GB music and loads entire list (all have artworks) in real time. Really imperfect but very fast, great music app by Samsung.
Then there is the RAM Memory optimizer under settings; device care; then memory button. On other phones I have had lately, this can take a long time. Have to go in apps in settings and do each one individually.
My phone gets 1 bar of signal strength less than my other phones but despite that I love this phone.
Fingerprint reader performance is livable. (A sweaty thumb on glossy glass is prone to cause difficulties with finger print reading, even on Iphones. So I can deal with it. - Try storing fingerprint data with a wet finger? Seems to have helped.)
The camera with the G-cam app is very good, and even so I still find myself using the Samsung camera app more often for its features and the polish of the app. - The panoramic shot is a full 360 degrees and better than my Iphone7. I like the hyperlapse and slowmotion. HOwever, this phone is definitely not a camera phone and won't take steady videos.
The native file explorer app and video player app are great.
The 20:9 aspect ratio is perfect for phones. You get so much usable real estate and yet a slimmer form factor that is much more practical for one handed use and for keeping in your pockets.
I love the ONE UI interface. I have it navigation bar set to invisble and I'm using gestures.
Compared to my previous phone it's thinner as well and feels great. It does not feel like a cheap phone at all. It feels solid and well produced.
I have the one in white. Paid $370 for it.
I got the samsung a70. I like the phone's 6.7 inch display. But the aspect ratio makes it a bit narrow. That's why I'm thinking about getting the huawei mate 20x which has a 7.2 inch screen. Do you think I should stay with this phone or buy the mate 20x?

Register 3 fingerprints of the same finger and it'll work seamlessly.

the only thing better in a70 is the battery and a little bit the screen colors "but with ugly notch"... as for performance, camera..etc the mi9t is a superb phone.

Seems like the Mi9T doesn't have an SD slot?
I have my A70 for a good amount of time to speak about it.
I really like the device. It's fast, reliable and it was a surprise to me that it can hold two sim cards and a microSD card at first. I remember that I was astornished by it's beautiful, shiny back, but that's a personal prefference. I only found 3 problems with this phone that gladly doesn't bother me that much.
Starting with the back, it's really, REALLY easy to scratch it. Mine, even if it was in the case, have some scuffs on the back. It's plastic, not as much resistable as the glass is, but I was aware of that when I was buying it. Kinda shame.
Secondly, the bezels are very small and I have big hands so sometinmes I touch the screen when I don't want to or being aware of. A bigger case like one of those armor cases should fix my issue, but that adds to the size of the phone which, I am not sure if I want right now.
Lastly, the cursed fingerprint scanner. It doesn't work all the times, but the updates seems to give it a bit of speed and accuracy, failed attempts to read out the fingerprint significantly decreases.
Overall. I think the phone is worth the money but again, that's my perspective.

I own the a70. But I'm thinking of switching to the huawei mate 20x which has a 7.2 inch screen. Do you think its worth buying the mate 20x and selling the a70 for half an inch inch difference in screen size?

3 months since I bought this awesome phone. I have no regrets. Biggest pros are 2 sim + sd card simultaneously and the huge 4500 mah battery

You should have tried relationship counselling, but now it is too late.
Unrootable means un usable in my eyes. Plus the battery lasts about 6 hours.
Not sure why you can't use it without root, I am. And my battery last all day with 4G.

LG G5 more hits than misses
Upgraded a number of family phones to the LG G5. I'm a bit old school and prefer simple flip phones. We would probably still be using Samsung Rugby flip phones if they worked with our carrier.
If you're in the market for a high end phone that's more than shiny, with lots of usable practical features and actually includes the latest available technology, consider the LG G5. We think it definitely has more hits than misses.
1. The 3 Cameras, make the phone one of the best camera substitute
2. Modern CPU (Qualcomm 820, currently top of the line) helps performance, battery efficiency, spectrum / wireless performance.
3. 4GB RAM useful for multitasking and running large demanding software
4. 32GB internal built in storage
5. Expandable storage with Micro SD (sorry Apple)
6. Miracast, industry standard screen sharing
7. IR Blaster
8. USB-C, the modern USB port the industry actually agrees and moving towards
(including devices from Apple, Google, Microsoft, LG, etc).
9. User removable / replaceable battery
10. Modular, and easy repair-ability
11. FM capable - enabled depending on carrier
12. A major phone brand / model thus more available accessories
13. Price point - best value for high end / flagship phone
Cons - what's missing that other devices may offer
1. Water / Dust proof - a nicety, and can be added to the LG G5 via certain cases.
2. Premium Metal / Glass feel - subjective. The LG G5 is all aluminum but covered in a primer paint. Besides, most folks I know use a phone case.
We have a number of mobile lines / phones within our family. Our last few phones have been Samsung, from Samsung flip phones to Android devices Galaxy T989D/S2X, Note 2, Note 3, Note 4. When we were up for replacements, we going to go with Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but it was no longer available, replaced by the Note 5. The Note 5 was more expensive than the Note 4. It was hard to justify paying more for a successor that included less than its predecessor - no Micro SD, no IR, no removable battery. Note 5 excluded usable practical features for a shiny exterior, and wasn't even water proof. We heard new phones were coming March / April 2016 so we waited and eventually decided on the LG G5. We believe it to be the best value, and offered the opportunity to award a vendor trying to innovate.
Ultimately it's just a phone, but at least it has the more important convergence features covered, mainly solid phone features, and solid camera.
** Unrelated, but its thanks to XDA community and other enthusiasts who help keep golden oldies such as the T989/S2X and Note 2 phones kicking. There's several Marshmallow ports for T989 and Note 2

Got a G5 (on AT&T) yesterday as a gift from my work and am coming from a Moto G with custom ROM's galore. The only thing I really miss is forward and back arrows in the nav bar for typing and Chrome Pie. Why pie controls aren't native to Chrome and requires root access is absolutely stupid.
Every other root function I used on my Moto G was to make up for the limitations of the device. No need now. Holy crap this thing is fast as hell and thanks to doze, standby is crazy. The SD 820 is an absolute beast of an SOC. And this is only my first full day on it. Going on a hike later today and can't wait to use the camera on this thing. So far I am very impressed with this phone.
Just received my EU h850 in the mail on Wed, already unlocked and rooted. No build quality issues at all.
Don't know why some are having battery issues. I easily get 24hrs of use with 5+hrs sot
That's with gaming,youtube, browsing,and Bluetooth
The screen uses much less battery than my Sprint g3...and even with custom everything on my g3 this phone performs sooo much better in everyway.
I think carrier branded g5 have a lot of bloat killing battery

Got mine from O2 in the UK and love my G5... O2 have put no bloatware on it at all and it therefore has good battery life. I have a G4 and the G5 flies compares to it (I loved the G4 too even though it had it's issues!). The only negative point is that getting a good tempered glass screen protector is going to be a nightmare as the screen is clearly quite flexible (hence the corner buckles etc) and so getting one to fit perfectly is going to be a challenge. Having said that, this is a very new phone, and all new3 models have odd issues (software/hardware), so if it becomes a problem then I'll RMA it to O2 or LG and get it swapped.
Hate some of the software tweaks, but this is a damn fine phone.
All in all, this is a pretty good phone. I'm really liking the wide angle lens and the fingerprint sensor. (This is my first phone with a fingerprint sensor)

Same here and agreed... awesome standby time as well... My only issue with it is, I wish the screen and always on display were brighter outside and the overall volume was a bit louder, especially when using your own ringtones, like my G4. When I set up mine.. I didnt bother with the App drawer update, to me.. it was a new phone, new UI so I went for a bit of a change instead of copying my old G4 setup... made me feel like Ide actually bought a new phone.. and im finding it much simpler and enjoyable to use.
I find the UX5 much slicker and faster to use, more responsive and I can fly through tasks, OneNote and OneDrive.. Very Happy with my G5, also the 0.2" screen reduction makes no difference after a day or so
For the ATT G5 is there a way to save pictures/files/videos directly to the memory card or does that require root?
Love it. I'm not crazy about the design but a 2.5$ case makes it look badass.
Camera is outstanding, battery life is good (30 hours with 4 hours SOT , brightness is set to Auto, BT and NFC off).
The phone works fast and doesn't overheat.

Loving my G5 had it a few months now, bought the Spigen Rugged Armor case really nice, snug fit. Great camera, battery life & blazing fast, great screen, fingerprint scanner works amazing its really responsive, i was pretty surprised actually at how well the fingerprint scanner works .... Don't care for root to be honest, only thing i really liked about being able to root my old G2 was having AdAway installed. USB-Type-C is a god send especially in dim light.

I also love the camera and settings provided on the LG G5. My only disappointment might be the capture time when using HDR mode. Aside from this, the video and picture quality is worthy of this benchmark phone, and the wide angle option adds a new enthusiasm for taking your phone with you on the scenic route.
From South Africa here. I have the H850 G5 as well, and no bloatware whatsoever. Battery lasts me a full day under moderate to heavy use (That does not include the camera). The auto-brightness is on point (but gets a little too low in a dark room to make watching videos or gaming comfortable). Battery charges fully in 28min from 1% whilst turned on. It's blazing fast. I have games in the background that I get back to hours later, and the memory never fails. Best phone I've ever owned.
I like almost everything about this phone minus the flimsy quality of the lcd quoting/Glass as its getting scratched very very easily, same is the case with back camera glass/visor.
Unfortunately, i wasn't using any screen protector earlier and i'd tried to clean the screen with a very soft microfiber cloth but to my surprise even that cloth had left some tiny hairline scratches. I couldn't believe my eyes at first but this was the fact sadly
I am not sure now if i can get rid of these scratches as i really love neat and clean phones.

I upgraded from an S3 that had been in service since it's release and had never failed me. It just became a bit dated and the battery was due for replacement. I caught the G5 for $1 at Best Buy so I said what the hell. My first unit didn't last 12 hours before dying. However the replacement is on it's 4th charge/discharge cycle and is seamless. I hope that the first unit was just a fluke because this thing hums. I hadn't even tested any other phones since owning the S3 so the speed and fluidity of the G5 blows me away. I cannot wait for rooting capability to customize it even though the factory setup isn't bad and not as restrictive as others I have dealt with in the past. I am giving it 3 stars for now due to the DOA unit I first received though.

+ Will get decent return on OPO to offset cost
Whilst the OPO had a flagship SoC of the time (SD801) that does still perform well enough, I imagine that the "mid range" SD625 probably isn't a massive step back. It has a slower clock speed, but twice as many cores.
Obviously I would be dropping from 64GB to 32GB storage, but the P2 allows for MicroSD expansion. In doing so, does it give the option of adding this as adoptable storage that is then seen as one big lump of internal storage?
I have almost convinced myself, but I am not quite there yet. Has anyone else gone from the OPO to this? If not, what phone did you move from? Do you still see it as a worthwhile move? Can you add anything to the arguments for or against making the change?

I moved to the P2 from the Huawei Honor 8. The main reason that i moved to the P2 is because of it's battery. Truly has been amazing. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I have not faced any issues. I am a heavy user and the 4 GB ram + the SD 625 chipset have been handling everything that I do on the phone quite well. The storage is adaptable as I've seen the option available. The metal design is not only good but feels quite solid as well. I have used the Lenovo Zuk Z1 a little while ago which has the same 801 chipset as on the OPO phone that you have and you are right, performance wise on a day to day basis, the 625 is pretty reliable. The amoled screen on the P2 is pretty awesome. I am not an expert on screens but I have come to prefer amoleds over lcds, IPS screens etc. So yes, personally for me, it has been a worthwhile move. I switch and change phones quite regularly. But I am thinking of keeping the P2 for while longer than most of the other phones that I've used so far.
Had an Moto x2014. Uses 801 chip. Had a 1080p amoled. I can confirm no obvious performance difference. If anything the p2 seems slicker. Battery is a massive win. Screen is brighter than Moto x2014. Not used opo1 tho.
I've upgraded form Oneplus 3 and it was worth it, battery life is amazing over 12hours sot, color calibration is different, fast charging is quicker 25watts over 20 in Oneplus 3, Android is snappy and all games that I was playing on op3 run smoothly on p2. Op3 has better sound quality on headphones, on p2 sound is OK by using blackplayer ex and built-in equalizer or poweramp+eq. and p2 has a Fm radio with record option but mine only works in mono, build quality is similar, camera definitely is better in op3, but I don't make too much photos so for me p2 is straight winner maybe if op4 will have bigger battery and sdcard slot I will comeback to Oneplus.

I must say though, I am a little surprised to see anyone choose this over the OnePlus 3, which I would imagine would be better in every aspect except the battery. Well if you find a good screen protector let me know!!! All have found is complete rubbish. Too big, poor quality. Terrible reviews on Amazon and eBay. So yeah, if you find a good one, post the seller here it will be appreciated!!
Great User Experience
I bought this as I needed a phone while my S7 Edge had to be repaired due to faulty memorycard slot.
Other than a slightly mediocre camera on the P2, I feel the P2 is a much better user experience. So I've decided to sell my S7 Edge once it's been repaired.
I will however order me the LG G6 when it launches, but the P2 is a keeper as my second phone. It's absolutely great for my use. Phoning, SMS, Browsing the Web, email, Youtube(just a little annoying delay) and such tasks. When P2 get upgraded to Nougat it will be even more of a killer budget phone.
just think about the best phone you can have at the budget.There is lenovo z2 plus at the same price,which has better processor,but i think lenovo p2 is better than that when considering user experience.or you can go for mi 5

You will be amazed at the difference.
Came from an LG G2 and find the P2 amazing,battery is King and phone runs well.
A few bugs to be sorted out yet but nothing that puts me off the phone too much.

I have a oneplus 2 and i think about to switch to the p2. It's a pity that the p2 has almost no custom rom comunity
I came from the OnePlus One and I don't regret it at all.
My primary annoyance with it was the battery life. I never get the insane battery life people claim from a phone, usually 50-75% of what they get. When it was new, I got around 4-4.5 hours SOT, by the time I retired it after 2 years and custom Android upgrades, a meagre 2.
With the P2 a lot of people report 12 hours SOT, I get around 7-8 hours which feels incredible. As a general rule, I don't charge my phone for 3 days. And it doesn't matter what I do with it for the most part, I get that battery life. The main thing that drains it for me is 3G/LTE, that drags me down to about 6 hours. I use relatively high screen brightness, BT, NFC etc. so I don't skimp. Only thing I don't use is GPS, that is also a battery hog and don't need it most of the time.
Camera isn't amazing, but I don't use mine very much. Again, I agree, the 625 for most intents and purposes is fine against the 801. The one thing my OnePlus didn't feel was slow, though my friend's Moto Z Play did feel snappier in the menus than it. I don't think the GPU is amazing for gaming, I don't play many 3D games but have played some Hitman Sniper, and that does bog down to some degree but can't compare it to other phones. Doesn't bother me a bit though, my phone is mainly for messaging, web browsing and 2D gaming and it does all of those things perfectly. And I got mine for £200 which was even cheaper than I got my OPO for at £269.
I do hope we get one or two custom ROMs in the coming months, since I'd like to move to total stock from the P2 ROM, but it's not a bad OEM ROM really.

I still haven't had any luck in finding a screen protector either from a trusted brand or with good feedback. Not even the wet apply ones. I will keep looking. Will probably just have to go with a cheapy to begin with, just to have something on there. I had a nightmare trying to get a glass protector for my daughters' Samsung A6 (2016), as they were all much smaller than the screen and didn't stick properly around the edges. I think it is because it looks like the screen actually tapers towards the 2.5D curved edges. Looking at the P2 in the shop, its screen looks to be flat all the way to the slightly curved edge, so hopefully won't have those problems.

At least, from what I have seen, all the system menus, etc, retain the stock look, rather than being heavily skinned. So I reckon that once I chuck Nova Launcher on there it'll pretty much look stock anyway. :good:
So I went for it, and so far am quite happy that I did so. There are still a few differences to get used to or to find a way to get them as I like, but well worth the money I'd say. I am getting 3 days use out of it quite easily.

I initially bought a tempered glass screen protector from Amazon (sold by Topaccs), but this was awful. It was, as expected, smaller than the screen, but it did just about go from edge to edge of the actual display area. So I wasn't that bothered by the size. But it didn't stick properly, the edges weren't fully rounded and it picked up fingerprints so badly that even after trying to clean it I was just left with a horrible misting across the whole thing.
After looking around some more, I went for the BROTECT AirGlass protector from EBay (sold by protectionfilms24). I was skeptical to say the least about their claims regarding this "real glass" protector that is much thinner and more flexible but just as hard. But as it goes I am, so far, very impressed. It is a much better fit and looks MUCH better on the phone. If anything, it is a tiny amount too big as it appears to go onto the screens' curves, but it really isn't that noticeable with a case on. It has proper hole cut outs, rather than two big cut outs from the top and bottom edges that you get with the glass ones. Clarity and feel are great, and I tried scratching the leftover button cutout piece, and it certainly appeared to resist scratches.
Whilst I was waiting for this to be delivered, I noticed that Ultimate Shield are now selling a tempered glass protector for the P2. I have had good experiences with their products in the past, so would certainly have given them a go. However, I will be sticking with the Brotect for now as I am more than happy with it.

So I just broke my Oneplus One and bought a P2 for 180€(!) Can anyone tell me how the camera compares to the OPO? I know, apparently it isn't that good but I didn't find the camera on the OPO to be any good either. Is it a step up from this?
Coming from op2 I feel camera is worst in low light and slower focusing, software side has better stock experience than that horrible lagging (throttling) oxygenOS, but video bug is terrible

Keep it. I selled my samsung s8 and buy the 5T. I am not sorry for the choice i've made.
The nonsense about the camera is overblown. They are comparing it to the Google Pixel or iPhone 8 x.
PIXEL xl screen is nowhere is good as the 5T IMHO.
My camera takes as good a photo as my daughters iPhone 7plus. Actually, better at times.
If you want a good a camera, go buy a Canon DSLR and lenses for $15,000.
With that said, do what you want. Nobody really cares and it is your decision and money. If a camera is that important, move on.
BTW, I've been a HTC person since the Google Nexus One, HTC 7, 8, 9, 10, A9 and so forth, like 8+yrs. The OnePlus 5T is better than anything HTC has out there. Camera is as good/better than HTC phones. They've never had a great camera, but still one of the most popular phone. Only thing I miss, HTC has one of the best Dev support on the Forum going for it...but OnePlus is doing OK, and works very similar to the HTC brand when it comes to modding/Dev support...just a better phone though.

I honestly think it depends what you're used to. I've been using cheap Jiayu and Xiaomi devices for years now. I love the 5T but for me this cost more than my last three phones combined. I love the speed of it, the ample RAM and generous storage, but it's not 3x better than my last phone. I dislike the yellowy tint of the Amoled screen compared to my last LCD, but I don't regret the purchase at all. It's a great device.
As far as the camera goes, it's honestly fine. More than anything I hate the awful panorama mode that results in a less than impressive image unless you can hold the phone totally level (in portrait) as you pan round.
Finally, I really miss the Xiaomi one handed mode. Also, the screen doesn't dim as far as my last Xiaomi.
I'm nit picking though. I bought my partner one and she absolutely loves it!

I recently sold my Galaxy S8+ to buy a OnePlus 5t. So a comparison, what I really liked about the S8+...
1. The camera, it's one of the very best single lens cameras on a smart phone. It's hard to fault in a wide variety of situations and more often you will come away with a more than satisfactory snap.
2. The build quality is an eye to behold it's a stunningly beautiful piece of engineering, looks amazing.... But it does come at a cost, which I'll explain in the dislikes.
3. The Samsung experience is a lot better than in the past with many options for customisation.
And here's what I disliked and why I changed....
1. I love the whole Google lightweight approach. Much of Samsung's value added software is bloatware that simply doesn't add enough perceived value for the hassle it so often causes. Bixby is the crowning glory, it completely gets in your way unlike the Google assistant. Other problems Sammy proprietary software causes is slowdown, some is immediately noticeable, some happens over time. And of course the Sammy 'look' which is very different from stock. I particularly disliked Samsung's redesign of the quick settings pulldown.
2. That beautiful piece of engineering isn't without its problems. The widely reported badly placed finger print reader being a constant annoyance.... But there's more.....fgs don't drop it at any height. Mine ended up as an insurance repair twice in the space of 3 months. A massive handset encased in glass...equals a very delicate and easy to slip out of your hands device. I also noticed that GG5 scratches very, very easily especially around the curved edges of that screen.
3. For a flagship phone under android 7 it was simply too slow, far too much attention has been paid on improving Samsung's own software and not enough on optimization of the OS in general. If I can commend them on one thing though, they have decoupled their software from the OS which meant updates come thick and fast and no longer require an entire system update.
So I've had my 5t for about a week and immediately loaded the open oreo beta, here's what I like....
1. The hardware, apart from the camera is first rate. I cannot fault it. For the money its staggering.
2. Build quality is sound. It's a good looking handset that doesn't try to over do it!
3. Absolutely love the face unlock and fingerprint reader, and while I accept face unlocks not as secure as iris.... Both methods piss all over the S8 for speed.
4. Its daaaaaaaaammmmnn fast! In day to day use.
5. Dash charge is daaaaaaaaammmmnn fast! And battery life is excellent
6. I have a pretty much stock android experience and I can disable any system app that has a better Google (or third party) replacement on play store.
And my dislikes....
Yep, the camera....I think they could still improve more in software though, but the two rear lenses of pretty much the same type is a gimmick and offers little more than what you can do with one. Portrait mode in my opinion would've been better remaining a completely software option in favour of a true 2x zoom lens with a slightly better aperture for low light shots over the original 5.
In low light I think we all agree for a phone to have not one but two f1.7 lenses, low light shots are still disappointing.

If you are into camera, just don't buy it. It is one of the worst I have used. It's great for other things. But camera is just so bad!
It's the best phone I have ever owned. I used to root all my phone to get the same experience I'm getting from oos stock.
I don't have any issue with the camera, I experienced the oil painting in some low light indoor conditions but mostly it's doing pretty well.
Someone tell me to which phones does the camera compares? Like which old flagships have more less the same camera quality...?
One more thing...this applies to many other phones...no SD Card for external storage. Samsung S8+ really was the perfect phone for me...with one huge problem, no bootloader unlocking and Dev support. Rooting breaks everything, Safetynet etc...Samsung for US customers really dropped the ball, or else it would be a killer on the XDA forum...hence, why the XDA Samsung forum sections are anemic....not much you can really do and you are stuck with their "experience" besides changes the launcher.
OnePlus 5T has been great so far for the money. Better than any HTC that is made today I've used for nearly 8 yrs.
I am in the process of either buying a P20, or an S9. This is a 35 vs 40 euro per month question (10 total as I need two phones) and since it is 2 years contract I am very interested in the reliability part of the phone, hardware, and software wise.
I am interested in using the phone mainly for communication calls/whatsapp, but also very important for taking pictures and recording videos. No gaming for me.
Reviews, in general, are very good about the P20, but reviews are short-lived usage experiences, and my only experience with Huawei (a Hero 6X), has not been very good: slow to update, the phone freezes from time to time (it is obviously not a flagship, I know), so I was wondering, now that you have (hopefully) used the phone for a while, will you get a P20 or an S9 if you had the chance?
As a former user of the S7 Edge, I tend to think the Samsung is a more reliable phone, but I wanted to hear from real users here.

Why not buy an S9 and a P20 and have the best of both worlds if you're getting two phones anyway?

I've never had the P20 and never heard of it's reviews, I just want to point out that Samsung also sucks when it comes to software update. Imagine that the May security patch is not yet available through OTA for my device and yet already available in the firmware downloads in sammobile. If you want to get the latest firmwares available you should do it manually through Odin though.
If you're not into gaming, this phone is really fast, and when I said fast, blazing fast. Even though 4gb ram makes other apps reload, it doesnt even bother because they load up really fast. I cant complain much of this phone when it comes to speed.
When it comes to camera, I really like the HDR of this phone and all the features implemented in the camera app itself. It takes really good photos with great exposures (thanks to the improved HDR capability). However, I am not really into Samsung's "smoothening" process, as it makes the photo look smooth, lacking of details. The only way to counterpart that is to enable RAW format in pro mode or use a third party camera app like the gcam port with working HDR+, I use it everytime I found the stock cam's HDR suffering from harsh sunlight and everytime I needed that extra crisp in photos.
Battery? Hhmm. I used to care a lot about phone's battery. I used to disable most apps and features just to get more juice out of it. The least battery I got was about 4h of SOT amd to be honest, Im pretty happy with that. Then, I realized why would I buy a premium phone and then disable most of its features. So I reset my phone and enjoyed it as it is. AOD yeah boy, fast charging will keep me back as soon as possible.
Overall, you cant go wrong with the S9. Speaker with dolby atmos is amazing. I feel like Im watching movies in cinema, for real! I only hate about this phone is that it doesnt have international warranty. Yes it may be a different case with others, this phone was bought in Dubai and then brought here in the Philippines. I wouldnt been so worried until last 3 days that I found out that my phone is affected with "dead zone spots" in screen, and now I've got to deliver it back to Dubai to get it fixed.

I was testing both S9+ and P20Pro in the store and...S9+ is a killer I don't see any bad sides besides that fingerprint button on the back...but nowadays its on every phone.
P20Pro...I almost bought it but when I saw how it record videos, I put it out. It's horrible. 60fps is in real 50fps. Bad OIS, video stutters when recording...and little less stuttering when on playback...S9+ feels like a finished, polished product. P20Pro was like...meh, a toy with unfinished software. I don't like it. But huge PLUS for fingerprint sensor under screen and all these gestures with it.
I bought S9+ 2 weeks ago and I'm so happy about it. Perfect phone. I changed from S7 flat (smaller version).
Record videos like..wow. Genius stabilization even with EIS off, nice photos, really big and amazing screen and loud and quality stereo speakers.
I will probably change to S10 next year when they'll implement underscreen fingerprint sensor

Thanks, S9+ is another option, but I think I am going to go with S9 this time. Main differnce I see are more battery, more screen, adn more camera, but more expensive
I not really big fan of huawei, I'm a Samsung user from a long time, I'm pretty impressed with the camera, Software UI, and some other stuff... I don't really like huawei's Software and Camera quality is damn too low as compared to Samsung...
I would suggest you to go with samsung... but its upto you

If anything is going to break this deal its

I went the opposite way. I just returned my z-fold 3 because of the battery life and the cameras. The s-pen flip case was absolutely horrid. I just feel for a $1,900 phone, it was underwhelming. I'm hoping on the z-fold 4, they put the s-pen solo in the phone. It just wasn't the note replacement I hoped it would be. I ordered an s21 ultra 512 GB but I won't be here till the end of the month so I'm looking forward to that now.
I don't understand the issue with cameras. Other than the less zoom on the f3, it takes pics just as good as the s21ultra. Yes I have both. Sure, batt life is not as good, but WTF did anyone expect with 2 screens. But it does last a full day. So stop the Bllsht.
I went from S21 Ultra to Fold 3, I certainly won't be going back to to a candy bar phone again. The cameras do a good enough job for me, the S21 camera array would have been nice, but I do wonder how much it would bump the price up.
I don't mind the outside screen either, certainly easier to type 1 handed, where the S21 U was quite wide to use like that.

Maybe in your opinion but I have my own. The cameras are basically up to par with my Note 20 5G. Maybe you are willing to sacrifice to have a folding screen but I am not. Cellular reception also was worse and I have a feeling that is what was killing the battery. By all means enjoy your F3 and I'll enjoy my S21. Like I said, I am looking forward to the Fold 4.
I love my fold3. The battery life isn't great, but try turning off your 5G. That should help out quite a bit. Plus you won't be able to tell the difference with the speeds unless you're using ultra wideband.

S21U to ZF3. I've gotten settled into the Fold 3 after a few days - I had to swap out my email app of choice (Nine) for Outlook to help with the battery (Nine has always been a bit of a hog, but it tips the scales to "not a full day" whereas Outlook plays nicer). I'm now getting a full business day (12hrs) but not much more.
I've got a little stand and BT keyboard taking its place as an iPad Mini Pro as welll...
I will miss the S21U cameras (I still have it...not giving it up so quickly!) so it's def form vs. function.
My biggest gripe with the Fold isn't the phone itself. To have a good solid case on it that lays flat means having big edges around the front screen. It's a bit awkward, but I'm sure I'll cope with time.
As for battery life, I do a lot of reading. I used to use a tablet + S21. With their mixed usage, either device would last a couple days without any real issue. Now, I have to top off during the day. I knew at some level this would be the case, but didn't QUITE expect it to be as heavy as it is. I have a charger at my work desk, home desk, and nightstand so it isn't a problem in my day to day life. Reading is also something I can avoid doing, and usually would anyway, if I'm going to be out and about all day.

Yep. You were in essence carrying two batteries, one in the S21 and one in the Tablet. You can't get away with just having 1 battery and expecting it to last as long as 2. The answer is to have an external battery along for the ride (which I always have in my bag anyway!)

Well, didn't usually carry the tablet with me as much as use it around the house. That said, yes. Not only is the tablet a second battery, it's a larger second battery. I expected higher usage, I just didn't expect as much as I should have. I do have the ability to bring a battery if needed, I just don't need to in most cases.
Totally get it. It's just helpful to think about the loss of the large 2nd battery

I took the ZF3 and S21U out together today and did camera tests on my own and was amazed how well the ZF3 matched the S21U. (cept for zoom and macro)
Honestly if you have a SGS21 Ultra. There is no point in upgrading to the Z Fold 3 as the performance is the exact same as they are running on the same hardware.

S21u outside of USA and SK has the "inferior" Exynos chip which has different performance and heat management (and also different ISP for processing images taken with cameras)
It's a difficult question ... Upgrade from S21u to F3?
Personally I'd say if you want to try foldable phones the F3 is the one to go for
If camera is most important to you stick with the S21U

My 'problem' with the F3 cameras is that for £1599 ($1799) the absolure flagship product from Samsung I expect the S21 Ultra camera module to be included. However, Samsung reduced F3 price by £200 over last years F2 so we cant have everything (but we still want it!)
The Fold3 camera sensors are the same as those in the Fold2, which were same as Fold1, which were same as the S10+ cameras.
If we wanted 3 year old camera sensors in our smartphones we would buy an Apple iPhone. lol

So, did you end up buying an IPhone?
If not, and you bought the F3, you'll know that the pictures it takes are very good, to the extent that some YouTube comparisons show that it holds up to, and sometimes beats the IPhone in terms of picture quality.
If you didn't buy the F3, you're just trolling, for how would you know how good or bad the camera is in reality. LOL

As a phone enthusiast (read addict), I have owned in the last 12 months.... Note 20 Ultra, iPhone 12 Pro Max, Xiaomi Mi 11 5g, S21 ultra and now the Z Fold3.
The Fold 3 is 1000s times more advanced and exciting to use than any of the other devices mentioned above... however the Z range cameras are stuck at 12mp from 2019 S10 era.
I agree pictures taken with a Z Fold3 are good or even excellent in most cases....
however, if you claim 2.0 optical zoom in F3 is technically as good as 10x optical zoom in S21U , or thar 108MP with Laser autofocus on S21u is not "better" than basic 12mp main lens on the Z Fold, you are mistaken my friend
(and lets not even begin to discuss the 4 FOUR! megapixel under-screen-camera lol )
To clarify .... I ABSOLUTELTY LOVE my Z Fold3!
I just think Samsung has missed the opportunity to release the ULTIMATE "UNBEATABLE" smartphone by not including 2021 spec camera module from the S21 Ultra. (The Note range always matched or exceeded the cameras in the S range from 6 months previous so why not do the same with the Z range?).
