How is the Galaxy S2's speaker volume?
Are the speakers awesomely loud and full like on HTC's Touch Pro 2 (AT&T Tilt 2, best phone speakers ever), or low and tinny like the HTC HD2? The GS2 looks awesome, but I've only had HTC phones so I don't have anything else to compare it to.
I use it my phone's speaker for everything: phone calls, listening to radio shows, music and playing videos, so if the GS2's volume is significantly louder and better than my HD2, I'm gonna head to T-Mo and snatch it up.
Thanks in advance!
it's super loud, too loud for comfort if you ask me, when set to max
it does not distort, as in no hiss or vibrate
but is not very tuned to the base side, it's just in flat/normal
not high on treble like other speaker phones (which i absolutely hate, as i can't stand high pitched noise... i meant voice)

The speaker's good and loud for phone calls and navi, but absolutely sucks for music, IMO.
Dude the speaker is great i had tge mytouch 4g and that was my only complaint speaker was super low. on the gs2 it is much louder and also usually when u lay the phone flat on its back it muffles the speaker but for me it makes it a little louder dont know if it is the body glove xase or what but for best experience go to market and grab volume + it works great and is an advanced dsp manager i love it. I had my doubts but it rocks now when im listening to a video i keep it about 4 notches below max
I can't say much as this is my second smartphone but i can tell you when i had an evo3d from sprint the speaker SUCKED ASS and i couldn't hear it for simple calls and texts. I had to install a app called volume plus that uses root to force your volume up which made the speakers crackle but functional. This phones speaker is a godsend compared to that bull****.

I've owned every highend phone on T-Mobile except for the Amaze 4g and I must say this phone has the best speaker phone hands down. I've even owned the Nexus S and Nexus One and none of them compare to this phone as far as sound quality goes.

Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm going to my local T-Mo store tomorrow and check it out! Early Christmas gift for myself!!!
I just tried the Google Music app for the first time on this phone and I'm just blown away at how good the speaker sound is. Don't get me wrong it's not going to replace your home stereo speakers but I never expected to be able to tolerate the sound from a phone much less enjoy it. The bass response is wonderful for a little fingernail sized transducer. The volume is not enough to serve as a party player but in the quiet of my living room it's perfectly adequate at 75% level. It probably won't have enough oomph for Hip Hop or Heavy Metal fans but I'm thoroughly enjoying the mellow sound of Bob Dylan's "Desire" Album as I'm composing this post. My Shure SCL4 earbuds are capable of producing uncomfortably loud levels at anymore than half of maximum gain and the clarity, sound stage, and bass are just phenomenal even without tweaking the equalizer settings.
I signed up for the Google Music service when it first came out but was resigned to never using it due to the crummy sound quality of my G2 and the data limits of my former plan but with this decent speaker and great headphone performance along with unlimited data I'm finally able to get decent sound on the go.
When everyone was all hyped up about this phone prior to release I couldn't help thinking "Get a grip. It's just a phone, it's not going to change anyone's life". Funny, it seems likely to have a significant impact on mine. For instance, My wife will have to call me on the phone when she want's to get my attention from upstairs because I will be frequently plugged into my sound isolating headphones. Not a bad thing really.
well, i almost have my note II for a year and a half now. and i started making more phone calls recently. at first people could hear me crystal clear. until there was an official rom update. after that time the microphone gain was low in conversations and recordings using voice recorder. now i have to hold my phone in my mouth while screaming for people to understand me. is there a way to adjust the gain on the microphone? it is not a hardware problem i think, cause when i scratch the phone it is extremely loud. but as soon as the sound source is more than a couple of centimeters or an inch, away. the volume drops to almost zero. i have noise suppression disabled.
allrighty then! fixed it, there was some oily residue stuck in my microphone hole, i thought it was the membrane of the mic. well, after I poked a needle in it, people can hear me again. hope this solution helps you all!
I am on conference calls most of the day and my phone sits in the middle of my desk with nothing around it. People on the other end complain that I do not sound clear and a bit muffled. It comes and goes. Anyone else having a similar complaint? Former Galaxy Note 5/7 user and never have had issues in the past.
I read LG did something with the phone for the speaker to have a better resonance chamber and it actually makes the external speaker louder, you can actually feel bass and putting it on a table or something would make it louder. I haven't got the chance to test one in a store so I thought I'd ask on here if it was just a gimmick or if it actually works

Yes from my experience it's loud af. And yes you can actually feel the bass when you're playing a song. Putting it on a table makes it even louder.

Thanks for the answer. I'm probably going to pick it up when the T-Mobile variant gets root it's honestly all I'm waiting for before I grab it
it's seriously good sound if you put it on an inverted 5 gal bucket, plastic crate or box. you can actually hear bass and mids. blew me away.

For a single bottom facing speaker this thing is Loud and Clear. I don't get distortion like on other devices I have had. Put it on the table and it resonates nicely. Almost don't have to use my Bluetooth speaker.
I have a roll of paper towels by the sink, and I lay the phone over the hole of the tube while I listen to music doing the dishes, and that sounds pretty nice. The speaker is actually annoyingly loud with some music, so I listen to music without using max speaker now.
