well, i almost have my note II for a year and a half now. and i started making more phone calls recently. at first people could hear me crystal clear. until there was an official rom update. after that time the microphone gain was low in conversations and recordings using voice recorder. now i have to hold my phone in my mouth while screaming for people to understand me. is there a way to adjust the gain on the microphone? it is not a hardware problem i think, cause when i scratch the phone it is extremely loud. but as soon as the sound source is more than a couple of centimeters or an inch, away. the volume drops to almost zero. i have noise suppression disabled.
allrighty then! fixed it, there was some oily residue stuck in my microphone hole, i thought it was the membrane of the mic. well, after I poked a needle in it, people can hear me again. hope this solution helps you all!

We heard often that the speaker output is weak, not loud enough.
I could agree with this after I tested on YouTube yesterday.
It is not really weak though, but the speaker is at the back and the sound is not directed to you.
I feel that I cannot hear it good enough. Probably this has something to do with my ear? Not sure, because I read quite a lot of users feel the same.
But then I realized when I hold the phone in a certain way, the speaker output has improved! And suddenly, I heard comfortably (if this is correct word).
See the photo attachment.
I think the sound is reflected by my hand palm and directed up to my ear !
So, there you go, try it
this can be done in any kind of phone or device witness speaker!
Good evening all,
I am noticing that my Note 4's front-facing speaker has become tinny during normal conversations while holding to ear.
I read all subject lines in troubleshooting forum without any mention of front speaker problems.
I hold my phone to my head and volume is never maximized.
I can't imagine it's blown, and it hasn't been dropped .
Coming up on my 90-day Costco window for replacement.
Any input welcomed?
Mines using that. It seems to boost the sounds during calls so I'm not complaining
Mine seems top blow my ears out when I use it so it seems adequate.
The best answer world be to try another note 4 and see if it sounds the same.
I had to recently open up the device to replace the adhesive between the display and the mid frame. After putting it back together, when a phonecall is put into speakerphone, the person cannot hear me clearly at all. They say its extremely quiet and only a few words out of an entire sentence can be heard. Otherwise the person can hear me fine when not on speakerphone.
Anyone experience a noise from the display speaker like a slight buzzing or hum during calls? It only seems to affect calls (not media) and only when my ear is positioned just above the exciter. MKBHD also mentioned this noise in his review. I went back to T-Mobile to listen to the floor model and it sounded clean. I also posted on reddit with other responding that their units had no noise. Unfortunately the store won't let me return it without charging me because none of the employees could hear the sound, or they said that it's too small an issue.

I've noticed the same thing, sometimes it sounds kind of like static, but the rest sounds like a mild buzzing. I only notice it some of the time on phone calls. Do you have a case on your phone as well? Might be worth taking the case off and see if it still happens.
Hi everyone.
I wanted to share a tip with you in regards to the Earpiece volume.
Ive been on the Mix wagon since it started with mi Mix. I was so happy with it but, so disappointed with the pizo sound technology.
I hated it; the sound was not good at all. I would always try to increase the volume during calls even though it was at max.
Then I bought the Mix 2S for my wife, the Earpiece on that device was so good I was just waiting patiently for the next Mix.
Mix 3 drops, bought at at launch. My joy wasn't for a long time though.
Tried the Earpiece and it sucked big time. I went back to always trying to increase the volume during calls even though it was at Max.
I would always ask people to speak up during calls. Am sure u did the same at one point when it's busy and crowded or if you work at a noisy place like an airport (my case).
Then I figure it out it wasn't the Earpiece - nor my Ear in case you were thinking it- it was STUPID Xiaomi with thier tin tiny holed grill piece. The front and back grill pieces are holed so tiny their easily get blocked. Hence less and less volume over time.
I had the courage to remove the front earpiece grill - FYI it was just glued-and never been more satisfied with the Mix 3. My calls volume in the middle of the bar and the voice is loud and clear.
Sorry for the long story and try it if you think u have the same issue I had.
You still make phone calls??
I have the same problem!!
Hii there!! I have the same problem!
If yo slide the phone (essentially uncover the inner earpiece), its increase the in call volume ??
