My phone might've got messed up pretty bad so need help.
Let's start from the start--
It has been 6 months since I've been using Cyanogen Mod 12.1 and I've been quite enjoying it except the regular force stops and power downs. Now, since 2 days I can't open my phone.
Two days ago, I thought of doing a factory reset on my phone and while it was on the process, maybe the battery was low or something but it shut itself down. Now, whenever I switch on my phone it shows "To start android, enter your password". I had not given any password to it but still I entered my Google account password and it worked but it showed "Decryption failed" and then tells me to clear the data of the mobile. After that I thought thought that I will be able to clear the data from the "Recovery" menu which is the Cyanogen Default recovery but whenever I try to do it, it says
"E: failed to mount /data (invalid argument)
E: format_volume failed to mount/data, formatting instead
E: format_volume: failed to open/persist/footer
Formatting /cache...
Data Wipe Complete"
What should I do? Please help.

It doesn't even load in fastboot mode.

Your mobile got ebola. It has happened to many of the devices. You can search it in the forum. Sadly, there's no fix for that. Means you have to leave it and move on to newer device.

[Q] ✔HELP✔-M8 Eye got pattern locked & not even asking GOOGLE ACCOUNT RESET ✔HORRIBLE
Hello
The phone- HTC one M8 Eye is of my mom(elderly). She actually reset her pattern yesterday (to complex one to prevent misuse by some relative kids) but forgot it later
We know the gmail account and password too but ITS INSANE that even after trying so many patterns (>100), its not giving us any option to reset using google account
Its not even giving us any "forgot password?" option . THIS is so HORRIBLE as we seem to be locked out and Data is important (on phone storage) so we dont want to factory reset
(I have read some(very few) instances of people sharing this horror ...but cant find any solution)
We have tried pressing buttons etc, restarting, no such option comes.
Further the fact the data network is on on it and gmail mails are synchronising properly means gmail account logging has no problem either.
The phone is not rooted and completely with stock ROM
Already Tried Options:
A- Tried "AromaFile manager" Way using sd card (to remove patter.key file), using stock recovery, but when i select "apply zip from sd card" it gives following error
E:Find no math PARTITION: for package path /sdcard/ptt.zip
E:unknown volume for path []
E:Can't mount
E:failed to open last_install: No such file or directory
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:failed to map file

Probably it needs CWM recovery
B- I am about to Try ADB Shell way to remove pattern.key, but i dont think that will work given device is not rooted and (may be even USB debugging is off). is it right that ADB shell cant remove a file if device is not rooted? Confirm plz
I am not sure what else to try...any other way???
This is PATHETIC that even after knowing google account/p[assword, its not giving us any such option.
Some app and phone storage data is very important... please help:crying::crying::crying:
P.S. M8 Eye just has better camera and no IF port, AFAIK. Otherwise its same as M8
Email/contact google support, it shouldn't take long to get a reply from them, they'll be able to assist you.
everytime i turn on my phone a screen pops up saying "your phone is encrypted"
it asks me for a password (lockscreen password) but i never had a lockscreen password, trying diferent passwords and pressing "decrypt" a screen appears with the following:
"decryption unsuccessful.
The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt. To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account."
then there is just a button that says "reset phone" it sends me to this screen regardless of what password i enter. when i press the reset phone botton, it takes me to TWRP recovery to reset my phone, but when i try to wipe any partitions it does nothing. i tried reinstalling the rom and the "phone is encrypted" screen appears again. i tried installing a different rom and same issue. i tried wiping the data partition through adb shell, but nothing. i've tried everything i could find online but the result keeps being the same, it takes forever to boot and then im greeted by the "your phone is encrypted" screen.
anyone knows what i could do?

Today for some reason I started getting continuous unfortunately Google play services has stopped error message
Over and over again
Tried a few methods and still kept getting message
In the end decided to factory reset via the settings menu
Got to the little green android saying erasing for nearly 3 hours
Tried powering off and going through recovery but as soon as I select recovery it loops back to the erasing screen and that's as far as I can get
Completely stock rom granted the memory is quite full with music and downloaded maps areas but it shouldn't take this long to reset
Any help would be appreciated as I use it for navigation for work mounted in my truck
Just to update I got the android on his back with a red exclamation mark now tried restarting and it's back to erasing screen again
Another update
Managed to get finally past the screen and select factory reset
When I select this it says formatting etc.
The. I get
E/failed to mount cache invalid argument
I can't get any further
I just rebooted my phone, get the "password required after restart" message, enter my password, and it immediately jumps back to the lockscreen and gives me the same message. If I deliberately enter the wrong password, it gives me a wrong password message, so in the first case it is recognizing my password as correct, just not unlocking.
It seems to be the same problem described here:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/yMUh6a2SVLs;context-place=forum/nexus
I've tried rebooting, tried booting into recovery and wiping cache to no avail, tried booting into safe mode, hoping to avoid having to do a factory reset.
I can still receive phone calls and can activate the camera by swiping, so phone is running fine, just can't get past the lockscreen.
Thoughts?
So if it is not the boot up screen to unlock the encrypted partition but the Android start screen, go into recovery, delete the password db file and you are done
in TWRP, go to Advanced > File Manager and navigate to /data/system.
to me this happened after restoring a twrp backup
I own an S9 which is now ~1 year old.
Was fine till it suddenly crashed while i was using and just keeps rebooting.
I have not updated recently or installed new apps other then the auto updates from playstore.
So now it starts up into the samsung galaxy s9 screen -> samsung screen -> restart.
Occasionally, it shows 'phone is starting - optimizing xx/xx apps'.
If that completes then the phone display is off but the home button still generates a haptic feedback.
Also am unable to detect my phone when connected to a PC. The PC speaker signals that something is connected but nothing shows up in my computer.
Somehow, I managed to get into the android recovery menu.
samsung/starltexx/starlte
9/PPR1.180610.011/G960FXXU7CSK1
No idea what I should do in there so i wiped the cache partition anyway.
Also ran a graphics test where they wrote installing system update -> error -> no command -> erasing then just back to the recovery menu anyway.
Tried the lacking storage booting:
storage space state: Normal (xx/xx Byte)
Storage file state: FN_Normal (xx/xx cnt)
E: failed to mount cache/lsb/trigger_lsb (no such file or directory)
Rebooting...
So, is there help for this phone?
