I just rebooted my phone, get the "password required after restart" message, enter my password, and it immediately jumps back to the lockscreen and gives me the same message. If I deliberately enter the wrong password, it gives me a wrong password message, so in the first case it is recognizing my password as correct, just not unlocking.

I've tried rebooting, tried booting into recovery and wiping cache to no avail, tried booting into safe mode, hoping to avoid having to do a factory reset.
I can still receive phone calls and can activate the camera by swiping, so phone is running fine, just can't get past the lockscreen.
Thoughts?
So if it is not the boot up screen to unlock the encrypted partition but the Android start screen, go into recovery, delete the password db file and you are done
in TWRP, go to Advanced > File Manager and navigate to /data/system.
to me this happened after restoring a twrp backup

I haven't used my nexus in a couple months, turned it on today and there's a PIN lock.
I don't remember ever setting this up, I tried my usual PINs and none work.
I keep trying but I never get a forgot password log in with google option. I always get 5 wrong entries, wait 30 secs.
I'm at 35 incorrect PINs so far.
-I've also tried going to device manager but my device is always unavailable so I can't send a lock screen to it.
-I can't do a factory reset because my recovery is broken and I can't get into it to erase my data.
-I can't flash a new recovery because my computer isn't a trusted device to access it and I can't allow it because I can't log in.
I'm not sure what else to do.
I have a secondary user on it but I can't turn on the developer options for it because it's not the primary account.
Any ideas what I can do?
If you can get your driver issues figured out, so that the Fast Boot driver works, you can just reflash images from the Bootloader. You do not need to get into Recovery, or get passed the pin lock to reflash. To make it easy, you can use something like Wug's NRT and use the "Bricked Device" option to flash images from the bootloader screen.
The message "Android is upgrading..." always show up every time I reboot the device.
This happens to me too but it's very strange because it seems a pattern lock I had entered persists across factory resets. So now I have to enter both my old pattern and then my new PIN to unlock my phone when I boot up.
The pattern lock comes up after the "android is upgrading" box which also flashes "starting apps" then "finishing boot" and this is after the boot animation. After I enter my pattern, it goes to boot animation again, then loads Oxygen OS 3.2.1. The reason I find this strange is because after the factory reset, I used a pin number at the setup instead of a pattern to lock the phone.
Why is my old pattern still there? I don't like the delay caused by android is upgrading and repeated boot animation.
As a note, I originally used adb sideload to upgrade from 3.1.3 to 3.2.1..

But that didn't work... I realized that this was a device encryption thing because TWRP was asking for my pattern as well; not my new pin.
So I restarted into bootloader, connected to PC and used fastboot format userdata. This actually wiped out the encryption and now when I turn on the phone it doesn't say "Android is upgrading", "Finishing boot..." Nor does it ask me to enter my pattern. This did of course reset the phone so it looked like a first-run screen where I followed through and set up a PIN. It seems fastboot format userdata is more complete than a TWRP factory reset.
However, at this time it looks like my OnePlus 3 is un-encrypted and I have the option to encrypt it now. See attached screenshots. The question is, what will happen after I encrypt the OP3? Will it have an annoying looped boot animation and a request for my PIN or pattern?

After you boot up after encryption go in security there should be an option to require pattern to start device, if that's disabled you won't have the double boot animation. As far as "Android is upgrading" on every boot, that usually happens if you add an app to system partition. I have Google dialer and GSam root companion so I get two apps upgrading on boot.
Your pin or password will survive factory reset.

"decryption unsuccessful.
The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt. To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account."
then there is just a button that says "reset phone" it sends me to this screen regardless of what password i enter. when i press the reset phone botton, it takes me to TWRP recovery to reset my phone, but when i try to wipe any partitions it does nothing. i tried reinstalling the rom and the "phone is encrypted" screen appears again. i tried installing a different rom and same issue. i tried wiping the data partition through adb shell, but nothing. i've tried everything i could find online but the result keeps being the same, it takes forever to boot and then im greeted by the "your phone is encrypted" screen.
anyone knows what i could do?

if the bootloader can ubl , next flash twrp and wipe internal storage ,reboot to system will be done, but hboot locked , cannot ubl and s-off , emmc change 1 way
Hi,
i recently bought two Samsung tab 3 10.1 tablets, however when i turn it on i get the message
"Enter you pin or password to use the encrypted device memory"
I have tried to do a factory reset which will not work and i have also tried to install a factory image, on which it goes on the device but loops back to the pin/password screen.
Can anyone help? i am willing to pay for help

Hello so to start off I want to say this is entirely my fault for not backing up my phone before installing this beta.
Story:
So today I tried to create a secure folder and while it was creating the secure folder my phone shut down after rebooting I cannot get into my phone every time I enter the password it just freezes and reboots. I can see my data is still all there because I am still receiving app notifications. How would I go about fixing this as I cannot factory wipe the phone because of fear of loosing my accounts tied to 2fa.
What I have tried so far:
- Using Samsung's find my phone feature to remove the screen lock (The phone randomly reboots multiple times and the screen lock is not removed.)
- Wiping system cache
- ADB does not detect the device as it is locked so there is not much I can do with that.
Other notes:
I have used oden in the past but I cannot find the right software for my model to attempt to re flash. (SM-S908U1 Unlocked)
