I just got my Mi A2 Lite. I tried to connect to my home wifi, which is secrued via WPA2, but it didn't work. I only could connect to my free wifi. As I wanted to install lineageos nevertheless, I didn't pay attention to it and just installed lineageos on it. But it didn't change anything. I can only connect to my free wifi. I'm 100% sure about the password as I also reconnected my laptop to make sure everything is right with my fritzbox. As I'm not near any further known networks I can't try with another wifi unfortunately.
Does somebody know a solution for my problem?
I just opened a hotspot with my laptop and secured it with a password. I can connect to it. Why does it not work with my fritzbox?

Hi guys, I recently destroyed my XDA2 and got a 2s on the insurance
Bluetooth on WM2003 SE if fair poor, but I managed to upgrade the stack thinger to 3900..... so I'm not completely XDA illiterate.
However, the wifi baffles me! I have access to an unsecured wireless network with internet access, and my 2s will connect to it. When I go on the the internet on my XDA, even with wifi connected it still tries to connect GPRS to use the internet. If I keep clicking cancel, it will load the page (presumably through the wireless network's internet access).
It has become clear that I have no idea what I'm doing with regards to networking. Could someone post a quick guide as to how to set up the wifi (from scratch) so that when it finds an unsecured network it will automatically use it for the internet.
Sorry if there's already a thread on this but I really can't find it. Cheers guys
-Mike
just what i need as well, i have just bought a wifi router so i can use the internet on my xda2s.
using the wireless manger -> wireless LAN manager i get:
STATUS: connected to network
SSID: NETGEAR
TX RATE: AUTO
MODE:INFRASTRUCTURE
CHANNEL 11
BSSID: 00-09-5B-D7-DC-2A
MAC: 00-09-2D-0B-C0-A6
but even when i pull the Ethnet cable (forgot how its spelt) out of the back of the router it still stays connected. so im thinking its more my PC than the xda. the thing is the router came with no software so i have no idea if its connected properly. when i pull this Ethnet cable out of the wifi router o get network cable unplugged. The network card is Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller. Which I have never used.
if anyone has a any ideas it would stop me pulling my hair out.
Sorry to hijack this thread

Mike, I dont think the wifi first and GPRS next works. It doesnt work properly on mine either. If I try a internet access via gprs and a local wifi is readily available, the system does not automatically switch to local wifi.....I think this could be a microsoft issue than a xda issue.

when u pull out the ethernet cable from the back of the router, can you still surf the net from you xda or PC?? that seems odd. So either you are not connecting to "your" own router, or someone else has a same router with unsecured setup and you were locked onto their service....if you follow what I mean. what happens if you kill the power to your router? you should definitely notice that the wifi service disappear in your xda and PC.
Dont expect a router to disappear by simply unplugging the ethernet cable, if the router is powered up, it will show up on your xda and the PC although obviously there will be no internet access.....
sorry if i wasn't clear. i meant i was still receiving a signal from the wifi router. i could never use the internet on the pda
update:
i can browse my pc files wirelessly using resco explorer, using the standard file explorer i can view the pc files using \\network/c and i have finally been able to connect to activesync.
however i still can not connect to the internet.
Any ideas, from looking on this forum it seems lots of peeps are having problems with this but nobody seems to have the answer
XDA Wi-Fi Solution....It Works!!!!
Hi,
I'm new to the forum and new to XDA2i (presumably XDA2s is same!) ....
I too had many frustrations connecting the wi-fi...but now I've cracked it, here's how.......
On first very first use (or following a hard re-set) device users are prompted to choose “What do you want WLAN to connect to?” The option bullets are ‘Internet’ or ‘Work’….’Work’ should be selected, this will connect them to the nearest WLAN (if this network is WEP encrypted it should be switched to ‘Open’ rather than ‘shared’ as is often the case).
Next prompt asks for any WEP Encryption ‘Pass Key’ to be input, when doing so omit any ‘-‘ between character pairs. Normal start-up should then be completed. Once device is up and running…..
From ‘Start’ pull-down on the ‘Today Screen’ select…. ‘settings’>’connections tab’>’connections icon’>’advanced tab’>’Select Networks’> pull-down ‘My Work Network’ > ‘OK’ out of selections to save and exit.
Go to ‘Wireless Manager’ in programs, select WLAN icon from main screen (which should turn green to show active), then select mini ‘WLAN’ icon from lower toolbar to see the status of the connection, quality of signal etc.
That did it for me......
Cheers

My vzw was ok before today on my network via wifi and now it only connects if there are no cables connected to my dlink dir-655 router. It says it can't connect try another access point. Never had an issue before. I have reset to factory defaults both router and phone more then once and still not working. If I turn on router with no cables connected to it then the tp2 connects fine. This meaning no LAN cable and no modem connected either. No security enabled for wifi either in the router. I have enabled security on router and phone says incorrect pass code which is incorrect as I am entering the correct password. Everything else on my network both wired and wifi work fine. Only the tp2 has a problem.
I am running default rom too. It is unlocked though and I've never put a rom or anything on the phone.
I don't have a clue what is wrong. I will be so grateful for any help.
Thanks so much.
Anyone???????????
So I'm using wireless tether app and it runs great on my PC. My PC's wifi card found my phone with no problem and connected to it. I gave my PC access control in the app and I can now access internet. However, when attempting to scan for networks on my playstation 3 it does not see my phone. I have assigned an SSID from within the app. Also, something else I noticed that was weird if anyone knows, I enabled wifi encryption but the setup methods threw me off with the Auto, iwconfig, and wpa_supplicant. I chose wpa_supplicant and gave the phone a password but when I connected my PC to the tether it never prompted me for a password (weird?). So if anyone knows what all this stuff means and also how I can get my playstation 3 to see my phone please let me know! Thanks in advance!!
Read this on another forum... but i believe it holds true...
"The PS3 will only connect to an Infrastructure Access Point. The wifi tether can only create an Ad-Hoc connection."
from this forum
You can however connect your PC/Laptop through wifi tether... then connect the PS3 to the PC with an ethernet cable... and internet connection sharing (ICS) enabled on that port.
Picked up a new AT&T G3 yesterday. Had no problem getting on my wifi at home. However, I've been unable to get the phone to connect to my work wifi. The phone detects the network, I put in my password, but it just will not connect. I've still got my Galaxy S4, and that phone connects fine. I confirmed that both phones have the same settings, and the G3 will not connect.
I've reset the phone, powered it off and back on, forgot the network and reentered the password, turned wifi of and back on, and still no love.
Any other suggestions before I return the phone?
Restart router? Login to the router and check logs? Wipe router password (no password) then try to connect.
Trying to get that accomplished will be fun. Might just return and stick with my S4.
Mines had the same issue out the box, wouldn't connect to neither mine nor the neighbors WiFi, restarted my router and all has been good...
By restarting the router, do you just mean unplugging it for a minute or two, then plugging it back in? Tried that with the router in issue with and it still won't connect.
I'm having this issue with the wifi networks I have at home. I'll go to the settings, enter my password and it will instantly not connect. However, the NFC tags I have already set up before I had my G3 still work and allow me to connect without issue. Strange. This is on the 16GB D855

Yes. But if router is setup as access point then will be connected to the switch and or firewall. Worth to restart it as well. I recently had this issue with airport express. One way to fix it was change router open(no password) than cannect your phone and then stick the password back.
Just to follow up on this, I was able to gain access to and play with my router settings at work. I changed the network to open without any security, and the phone still would not connect. I then changed the network mode from "b & g mixed mode" to "b only mode" and it immediately connected. Not sure what the difference is, but hopefully our computer guy will let me keep the change.
Hi,
I am using the MIUI 11.0.2 Global stable rom for redmi 5A.
In our area electricity sometimes comes and goes. After the electrcity comes back the wifi router takes some time before it is connected to the internet. So for some time after the router starts it has wifi signal but no internet connection.
During this time if I connect my phone to the wifi, it shows "Connected,no"internet which is normal. But after sometime the router internally configs itself and thus has internet connection. But the Connected and no internet status in my phone doesn't go away.
In this situation apps in my phone like fb lite and chrome works normally, I mean can connect to internet .but apps like play store and gmail doesn't work until I disconnect and reconnect my phone to wifi.
It seems like when connecting to wifi, only for the first time android checks if internet connection is available. If internet connection is not available then it shows the status Connected,no internet. Even if the connection comes back later, the no internet status doesn't change until the device is disconnected and reconnected to wifi.
In this same situation My windows laptop works without any problem. The status changes automatically from "Connected,no internet" to "Connected" internet connection is acquired by laptop.
So my question is, Is this a bug or android just work's this way ?
Update:
To recreate this issue you can unplug the LAN cable from your router and then connect the phone to the wifi. Connected, No internet status will be shown. Now without doing anything else connect the LAN cable to the router.
In the phone, the No internet status should now change to Connected ( Works in Redmi note 5 pro ) . But for redmi 5a it never changes but I can use the internet in chrome browser or facrbook lite but google play store and youtube shows no internet until I disconnect and reconnect to the wifi.
