Not receiving notifications from FB Messenger - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello,
I've have discovered recently, that I don't receive push notifications from FB messenger about new messages. So unless I open the app, I don't know about new messages from my friends or family. Does anyone have same issue? Could It be phone's problem?
Thanks for any advice.

are you running stock rom and/or stock recovery? or are you on battery saver mode all the time?
android might be putting fb messanger into a deep doze state, if on Android 9 go to your phones settings, then application and notification, then click on Facebook messanger, then advanced, select battery, battery optimization, change the option to display all apps, find Facebook messanger and select not optimized.
hopefully this helps, i haven't had this issue but others report poor ram management on tgeir devices.

This worked a treat for me on my xiaomi note 8 thank you.........

com.android.contacts using a lot of battery

Hey All,
I had installed CM13 nightly on LG G3(D855 international version) along with Nebula kernel 12.5. And currently I am having hard time to understand why contacts is using a lot of battery. I charged the battery to 100% and left it untouched for 7 hours and continuing with my daily use(whatsapp email browser and phone calls thats all, I am not a social media fan so no facebook twitter or instagram etc., I understand if you dont call my g3 a smartphone). I will post the BetterBatteryStats output log when battery is completely drained.
Also, when I enter settings-> Google I have a blank page. There is nothing shown under Settings-> Google. So, it is not possible to disable contact sync for now.
Furthermore, when I click Settings->Accounts->Google->Contact to sync contacts I see an error that says contact sync is having problems... But when I click again this error is gone until next restart.
It is really annoying to have this kind of battery drain. Also I have Amplify, Betterbatterystats, Powernap, Greenify, AppOpsExposed and Xposed installed.
Please let me know if you have any solution recommendation, I will be glad to give out many thanks to who supports.

Which nightly? Not sure if this effects your G3, but there was an issue posted in g+ about a gapps & 3rd pary app issue... https://plus.google.com/+CyanogenMod/posts/U1truK1Jo6i
I was just going to suggest new gapps, but it may be a CM issue.

usually, there shouldn't be an issue ... are you using some kind of doze optimization app, i.e. forcedoze, greenify or naptime?
if so, than this behaviour is normal as mail notifications only get synced at times of maintenance windows. same when the phone is in stock doze, which kicks in after approx 30 mins.
No
No, just did a fresh rebuild, no special apps, not special configurations, just stock install and no gmail push.

check your gmail and sync settings and deactivate battery optimization for gmail.

I am not on Nougart for that specific reason, no notifications EXCEPT text messages and calls, every other notification seems to be crippled in N.
I posted a thread on this a while ago, i guess nobody searched for it

HELP! Massive FB app drain OOS 3.2.8

I have an urgent problem. Since morning today Messenger and Facebook (applications) started to constantly consume 40% CPU load, ie the battery is constantly depleating. If i look through gsam battery monitor, can see that the process i facebook.ocra / katana is constantly on. Yet I observed such a bug both on the phone and on the tablet. Its both the 6th android. I tried to reinstall, reboot, wipe cache / cache art - nothing. Plz help if somebody has faced this problem.

the fb app f*ucks up from time to time and the only solution is to uninstall. Use some of the suggestions mentioned before. They have all the features, even messages. If you use chrome you can get notifications also.
Happened to me as well starting yesterday. Apparently is not only happening to people using 3.2.8, users on 4.0.1 are experiencing it also. It's also affecting users on other phone models. So definitely something wrong with the FB app. I un-installed the app and added a home screen shortcut to the web version of FB, like what was suggested by the other guys.
Maybe you need to configure some settings in the app.
I'm on validus using 4.0.1 fw and modem and got this problem this morning. It also caused the heating of the phone.
Got rid of both apps.
Happened to me today.
Facebook and messenger started sucking the battery in the morning, making my phone lag as hell. Also drained the battery from full down to 5% in around 8 hours. Tried restarting my phone during the day. Even with any internet connection off it was still running and autostarting.
Sultan's CM13
Same thing happened to me as of this morning, Freedom OS 3.2.8 with EK Kernel. It only started this morning
1 - Close your FB account
2 - Remove FB application
3 - Back to a real social life
4 - Done
I think may be it will help for some people

Galaxy Watch notifications for what's app

Hi Everyone,
Requesting some help for an issue that I am facing with my galaxy watch. Not able to receive ONLY what's app notifications on the watch. All other app notifications work fine ( Messages, emails, weather or any other app that gives me notifications ) works good.
1. Looked for all settings related to notifications on the phone and watch. All look fine unless I have missed out something important related to whats app.
2. Reset the gear watch but that didn't help either
3. Uninstalled and reinstalled what's app just to make sure but that didn't work too.
Running out of ideas and looking for suggestion please.
I expect you have checked the Galaxy Wearable settings menu entry notifications list of apps and found (or not found) the What's app ?

Hi,
Yes, I have selected all apps in notifications and still same issue. I just also noticed that it doesn't work for Facebook notifications too, not too sure if that helps but thought of mentioning it. I have tried all settings possible on the watch and the phone, reset the watch but unfortunately it didn't work.
Working notifications :- Messages, Emails, weather, calls, alarms
Non working :- Facebook, whats app and some other 3rd party apps. I understand that some 3rd party apps may not have native support but ya, thats my current status.
Thank you for trying to help and please suggest if any other idea.

I assume that you do get notifications on your phone for the apps in question - otherwise, you have to adjust the setting for those.

Hi,
I had enabled them on the phone but the same issue. Thank you for your time though. Something completely unexpected at least for me that helped me resolve the issue and frankly I don't understand how. So here is how it worked, I am currently travelling and purchased a SIM that I inserted in the primary slot of my phone and the default SIM I always use is in the secondary. I swapped and that resolved my issue. I don't even know if that is related and I should have known about it but thankfully helped me end my worries and some ridiculous amount of time I spent resolving it.
Thank you again. You have a good one !

delayed MMS messages with screen off?

I have noticed that I have been getting delayed MMS messages, especially with my screen off. I'm using Textra, however it seems to be the case with other messaging apps as well. I assume it has something to do with the systems doe policy and battery management, with the screen off. I have tried to change battery management settings for various apps including MMS policy stuff... Still can't get this straightened out. Any advice?

If on Pie, try unchecking Adaptive Battery and see if that helps...
Thanks , I'll try that. Am also going to try adjusting the "optimizing battery use" settings in a few apps, although don't really know where to start

Experienced the same issue with different apps using battery optimization. Try removing messages and any other important apps from optimization.

Tried that, still having issues... Can you remember any specific apps (other than messaging and MMS services) that were associated with it?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Notifications were delayed with Gmail and hangouts but once I remove them from optimization, they worked fine. I also made sure that notifications were changed to priority
Are you using a battery saving app/service/mod? Anything that aggressively enforces Doze?
