I have noticed that my screen is flickering ever so slightly in all applications. it is bearable but slightly annoying. Could this be hardware related and will I have grounds for a warrenty replacement? should I wait and see if any OTAs resolve it?
Everything is stock. Brightness is set to auto.
I have problems with shadowgun crashing when there is an explosion etc. possibly related?

Yeah, i noticed this too on my One X I've mostly seen it while my mobile data connection was on, and it seems to decrease a lot but not completely disappear when it's off. I also got a weird message yesterday while charging, saying something along the lines of "your phone is using too much current, -" (the message was in dutch, not sure what the exact message is in english) my phone turned off before I could completely read it. I wonder if those issues are somehow related. Maybe the screens backlight isn't getting enough power when the radio is on. Anyways, I'm not an expert, so don't quote me on that.
I also heard the tegra 3 drivers are buggy, so shadowgun crashing and performance drops etc. will hopefully be resolved in future updates.
I've got it as well I think it's a driver issue the last thing I want to do is go for a replacement and that to have more dud stuff as this is the only dud thing on mine. Everything else is fine apart from flickers now and then.

@backstabz0r for screen flickering pls refer to my earlier ans and for your problem which you got warning message thats common warning you get when you have put phone in charge and if you using it for gaming which consumpts more nergy then, message will be" battery consumption is more then the supply"
so suggest ou to let battery get charged till 30 % and then use it for gaming or any other apps
I've read a few threads here regarding the flicker and it seems some people are confusing flicker with something that I really don't know what to call.
Flicker for me is when there's a stroboscope-ish effect, like when you place your sight just above an old CRT monitor, or when a fluorescent light is on it's last breath. Not when what you see on the screen makes random movements a few pixels in any direction.
I have flicker on my HOX. But it's only noticeable on lower brightness levels. This happens in all applications and in settings menu, everything with white or light grey background, so not related to badly written apps. But I wonder if this really CAN be software related? Has this happened with other models from various manufacturers?

I've got what your describing quite a few users have. I believe it could be down to the drivers for the Soc. Might just need a driver update. Only the next update we can tell if this fixes the issue or not. We need to pressure HTC regarding this issue.

But is it really possible that a driver issue can cause flicker? I've never seen it before.
I tweeted @htcdev earlier today about it but no response yet. I wonder what the best way to make htc aware of this is. Contacting their lousy customer support feels pointless, it won't reach the people who actually can make an impact.

Right guys untick animations in Developer options, restart give it a while, go into camera you'll notice glitches, play a YouTube video you'll notice green bar on the left hand side of the screen in full screen mode. Untick animations and this disappears. It's worrying not sure what to do now.
Edit: can't repeat this but will keep trying as something did trigger it off for the screen to go like that.
Yeah, with flicker I didn't mean anything like having low fps when scrolling through stuff. I meant a quite noticable fluctuation in the brightness of the backlight if that makes sense. It is indeed quite like a CRT monitor with a low refresh rate. I haven't seen it yet when my screen brightness was high, but I'm not sure if it doesn't occur on higher brightness settings. It is also not constantly flickering, It only seems to act up when my mobile data connection is active, although I have seen a very slight flickering with data turned off. I really hope this isn't a hardware issue, the rest of my phone is pretty much perfect and I'd rather not send it in for a replacement after all the trouble I had with my sensation :/
I have the flicker issue, the screen flickers near the center a little bit to the right though, and it is reall irratating, but i can only see it when viewing pictures and on greys.
I hope it isn't hardware!!
tried all the ideas given to stop it but none work for me, still seems to flicker
Me too
I have the screen flickering too.
Im reluctant to return it as apart from this the handset is solid.
It on appears on certain colours making me think its software related.
I also have the exact same flicking issue. From what I have heard it is a software issue rather than a hardware issue. Just to be on the safeside though I am returning my One X to Phones4U for a replacement. Will be interesting to see if the replacement has the same issue.
I made a thorough check yesterday. I downloaded a brightness control app where you can write what brightness level you want so i tried from 3% which was the lowest possible step by step up to 15%. At 15 the flicker stops so its not 30 as I said before. this is my only issue too so I dont dare to replace it just to get a worse phone. My sister is getting one next week so gonna compare them.

I noticed this too, but i believe its a software issue only. When I unlock the phone, the screen flickers while sense runs and the three menu button appears then goes. Once its all settled its fine. I believe this is to do with sense rather than a phone issue, and will be addressed via OTA.

Not so sure about it being a specific Sense issue as I have noticed the screen flicking in 3rd party apps such as Spotify.

I phoned dialaphone there, i made them aware of the problem with my phone, told them if it wasnt fixed with the update then I would like to replace my phone, told me I had until next tuesday to see if its fixed, until I reminded her about distance selling regulations which gives me 28 days from receiving the handset.

You do indeed have 28 days to return your phone however I wouldn't count on HTC releasing an update before then
Update: Star this Android issue if affected: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=58401
I'm noticing intermittent bouts of erratic multi-touch on the Nexus 7 (2013) 16GB. I exchanged one device already hoping that it was a HW defect, but my second device behaves in exactly the same way.
Chrome, Dolphin, web-view, maps (especially maps) will often jump all over the place during pinch-to-zoom. Sometimes it works fine, but too often, it jumps zoom levels erratically. Edit: This also manifests as double taps and/or "ghost taps" when using the keyboard.
I've installed YAMTT (Yet Another Multitouch test) and I've observed the touch points disappear, change direction and even suddenly register a 3rd touch. None of my other devices do this.
I'm reluctant to exchange the device yet again, but I haven't read about anyone else who's witnessed this. Am I alone in observing this behaviour?
Edit: Here is a terrible video attempting to highlight what I'm seeing in YAMTT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZRiMiNzs0U
And another video in Google Earth (fixed): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14cPiiM3Pwg
Someone else experiencing the issue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xpl26UgcuSs
FINAL UPDATE: I exchanged the device again and the issue is gone (so far). My advice: if you're experiencing this issue, return it. If it continues to happen, return it again until it works.
As a side note, for those experiencing the mushy/hard to press power button, that issue was fixed for me as well.
Final Update Part 2: I am sad to say the issue is still present after all. I'll admit that it is less prevalent than with my first two N7s and the "jumps" are less severe. However, it's still there and I'm not prepared to live with it. Therefore, I am returning the device to get my money back. I'll keep up to date with this issue, and I'll likely buy it down the road when a clear resolution presents itself. I know it would be a great tablet without this problem.
To recap my experience:
First N7 had erratic multi-touch, stiff power button, keyboard and other touch screen issues. Exchanged.
Second N7 had a good power button, but the erratic multi-touch and keyboard issues were still present. Exchanged.
Third N7 had a perfect power button and no keyboard issues, but the erratic pinch to zoom was still present (though less severe). Returned.

You're probably right. I was just concerned that no one else had mentioned it. I find this behaviour quite annoying.
Does the issue go away if you actually held it with the other hand (going by video)? Sounds like the behavior of the 1st gen N7.

It's designed to be used on a grounded surface either held in hand or on a grounded surface. It's an electrical behavior so I doubt software would change that. Please try held in hand and report back.

I've got this a little bit, glad I'm not the only one with the problem, mine only does it when I hold it above me and use it lol. Everything else is fine with mine so I'm keeping it.
Are you sure this is a software issue?
I remember back when I had an HTC Desire, it had multitouch issues but the fault lay with the digitizer and no update could fix it.

I've tried gripping in both hands, from the bottom bezel, on the table and on the couch. Still, I see this behavior. It's not constant, but it's prevalent enough that I don't know if I'm going to keep it.
It sucks because otherwise I really love it.
I dunno. I'm seeing weird anomalies with mine. Moving 2 fingers around, a random 3rd pops up.
Hopefully just software woes. The Galaxy Nexus did this, N7 did this, and now the new N7. Its rare. Haven't had a problem.

I found this thread looking for someone else who was having the problem I was - my device was doing exactly the same thing in Google Earth. Thanks for posting it!
Oddly enough now that I've found this thread, the device isn't doing that anymore. It's tracking perfectly in Earth and also in YAMTT.
It tracks fine when being held in one hand, on a grounded or not surface, when touched with one hand or two.
Very odd.
I had this issue with my 1st n7 2nd gen (which i bought yesterday). I returned it to bestbuy and got a new one which seems to be fine.

I've already exchanged it once and each had this issue. I think I'm going to try again tomorrow. I'll report back.
I had a similar issue with google earth on my 1st gen N7. I can't test it anymore, tho, because its sitting at the bottom of a lake. But it would randomly zoom out or in like crazy or jump halfway across the world.
I have this issue extremely annoying. My keyboard double presses letters at times, zooming I have ttrthe problem, trying to long press a link I also get it unregistering touch
I hope this. Is. Software I don't waqmt to return this. Otherwise perfect device. You can see it happoening as I try to type
This actually happened to me for the first time about an hour ago. As said before, I hope this is a simple software bug, and not some serious hardware issue. Quite frankly, I have a feeling that going through a return is going to be messy, as I've bought mine from my local Gamestop.

I know it's only one person, but this leads me to believe it might be a hardware/quality issue. I have exchanged mine once for this issue already (Best Buy) and it was extremely easy. I am going to exchange one more time and will report back my findings.

I didn't mention the keyboard issue. I too am seeing ghost taps when typing.
Hmmm. No ghost taps here. I've been on xda a lot since I got this.
Not good though. Could just be a bad batch. Seems like the dead spots would be caused by a hardware issue... Bad connections or something.

Hi, everyone. So I have an LG G4 for more than a year now and I am very pleased with its performance. I did have an issue with sometimes the audio is stuck after a call but I think it more has to do with bad reception as I noticed so its rare this days. However, lately something happened with the knock on feature which I cannot figure out at all. Sometimes it just doesn't work. I tap and nothing happens. The power on button is working perfectly but the knock on is unresponsive. I fiddled with the proximity sensor but it's not it. Sometimes it just stops working for 5-6 times and then it works and the again it doesn't. There is no pattern. When it's powering on the feature works with no hiccups but after that it's like the cpu forgets to monitor the process. I don't know. I have tried calibration and it works with no problem for a few minutes and then it goes back again to this stutter. Does anyone have any ideas about this? I am thinking factory reset but the hassle would be pointless if the problem persists and I am in no mood to install all those apps I have from the beginning for no reason. Any hep will be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I am experiencing the same issue but mine Knock on is a bit delaying.. for an example, I double tap on the screen and it gives response in 3-4 mins or not... I am suspecting from screen protector which has been mounted for almost a year, it could be corrupted(scratch) Give a try on removing the screen protector(if you have any)
It's a hardware problem. Many threads online about it

Is your case or temp glass protect over prox sensor. That can affect it bad. Also scratches on glass over prox sensor. If not. Then more than likely hardware related.
No the screen protector does not cover the prox sensor. It's cut out as it should be. I am starting to think it's a hardware problem. The thing is why now?!

No. I haven't touched it at all yet. I am pretty satisfied with the performance so I left it alone. The only thing worth mentioning is that I overheated taking a lot of pictures during an event. Maybe this did a number on it!
I have been discussing the issue with a technican today. It is a hardware issue, you cannot fix it. Apparently, the proximity sensor dies after ~2 years - at least somewhat. Why somewhat?
Check this out: You can check the status of your sensor using MINIOS, type *#546368#*815# (n.b. - swap 815 for your model number).
Now click device test - MT - ok - Individual Item - Sensor test - WAIT!
The proximity sensor will run a test and likely come up with a figure between 60~90. The actual value should be 220+.
Meaning: Your phone thinks it´s ~6-9 cm away from your face, that is not enough to trigger knock-on but it´s far enough to be triggered using the backside button.
My knock on doesn't work, but knock off does. Not a major issue, just annoying!
Good afternoon XDA,
Checking in to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue.
During gaming I will receive a single pop that is not characteristic of whatever is being output to the speakers, this isolated popping occurs once every 30-seconds to a minute apart. This pop maintains the same volume as the rest of the sound being produced. This issue (from my experience) seems to only be produced in games, because whenever I run any tone range clip from youtube it produces no popping.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? I know a number of users are experiencing overt speaker popping on their units, but this seems to me to be a different issue, possibly software/dac related, instead of the speaker failure the other users are experiencing.
p.s. I can replicate this issue with ATMOS turned on and off.
Anyone have any ideas, or share this experience?
Same.
I can replicate this as well. Exactly the same as OP.
Yes! My God finally found others with this issue. I've gone through a replacement and still have the same popping during games. My memory isn't that good but I believe this only started happening after the 8.1 update. Along with WiFi 5ghz now draining my battery in 1 day on idle when before I could go a week on idle/low usage.
Hello friends. I recently bought myself P6P (US Ver.) and I was very surprised when I noticed that at temperatures below 0°C (-1°C and below), my camera stops working. The phone simply freezes and when the camera starts, leaving for a reboot. After rebooting, the problem does not disappear until it cools down. At room temperature, or plus temperature at street (about 2-5°C and above) a problem, there is no. There is a cold winter in my country, I do not argue, but any phone, even my old one, broken s21u did not show such problems. I like to shoot stories on the street, take photos on the street, send video messages on the street. I cannot do this with a pixel. I have to wait for spring to use it comfortably. I saw a similar video of a Canadian blogger with this problem, but everyone else says that they have never encountered this problem. I am really offended that absolutely any phone can remove at this temperature, but there is no pixel. Maybe someone knows what the problem might be, I hope for your help. This is enormous suffering for me. I really love this phone, but his behavior with a camera on the street... This is not permissible for such a smartphone.

Sounds like a hardware defect, maybe bad battery not supplying adequate current at low temperatures? I've used my camera at 20 below without any issue.
I'd suggest trying it with an external power source (USB) to see if providing more current helps.

This is clearly not a battery. If the problem was in it, then it would simply reboot. But it just freezes tightly, then reboots. Sometimes when hanging, artifacts appear on the display.

Nothing "simply" reboots. Something has to happen to CAUSE it to reboot. If the voltage drops too low, the CPU will brown out and whatever is running will crash, then the watchdog timer will cause it to reboot. What you are experiencing sounds VERY battery. Try external power before dismissing a suggestion.

I put it in the freezer for 15 minutes (its temperature is about 10-15°). When I connected it to charging, when I started the camera, he immediately went into a reboot, and did not hang as usual. When I tried to open the camera without charging, it first hung, and then rebooted.

It is strange for my part to think about the battery, because my p6p was activated only 3 months ago. Its battery cannot be worn out, unless of course it was a factory defect.

I put it in the freezer for 15 minutes (its temperature is about 10-15°). When I connected it to charging, when I started the camera, he immediately went into a reboot, and did not hang as usual. When I tried to open the camera without charging, it first hung, and then rebooted.

Keep it connected to the charger the whole time. Plugging it in causes all kinds of systems to suddenly activate and breaks the test.
