Good afternoon XDA,
Checking in to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue.
During gaming I will receive a single pop that is not characteristic of whatever is being output to the speakers, this isolated popping occurs once every 30-seconds to a minute apart. This pop maintains the same volume as the rest of the sound being produced. This issue (from my experience) seems to only be produced in games, because whenever I run any tone range clip from youtube it produces no popping.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? I know a number of users are experiencing overt speaker popping on their units, but this seems to me to be a different issue, possibly software/dac related, instead of the speaker failure the other users are experiencing.
p.s. I can replicate this issue with ATMOS turned on and off.
Anyone have any ideas, or share this experience?
Same.
I can replicate this as well. Exactly the same as OP.
Yes! My God finally found others with this issue. I've gone through a replacement and still have the same popping during games. My memory isn't that good but I believe this only started happening after the 8.1 update. Along with WiFi 5ghz now draining my battery in 1 day on idle when before I could go a week on idle/low usage.

First of all, I have a Galaxy Nexus LTE as does my girlfriend. I have seen a lot of talk here about the mic muting or cutting out completely. I have had that happen a few times, but more often during our calls, one of our voices drops in quality so bad it sounds garbled or muffled. Simply hanging up and recalling will fix the issue.
Are there particular kernels or roms that mitigate this issue? Is this even a normal issue? I wasn't sure what to search for, garbled sounds like a good description of the issue. It happens at worst twice a day, and at best every other day. It is annoying to say the least.
Thanks for any tips!
Hey,
It seems it only happens when sound is out after absence of sound through the speaker.
I don't know much about hardware, but I guess it happens when the speaker is internally turned on again?
I can easily reproduce this when chatting with someone. All I gotta do is not type for a couple of seconds and start typing again and the speaker will produce a very brief pop noise at the exact moment when the keypress sound effect is played.
I just got my replaced Galaxy Nexus and I don't believe I noticed such problem with my old one.
This is my third replacement and each devices had errors of their own.
Do you think this is yet another hardware defect? Can I fix this through any software fixes?
Ideas, anyone?
Recently I have been experiencing weird sounds from my speaker on my new g4. The sound comes through, but it sounds exactly like one of those severe weather interruptions on the television or the radio. It's loud, lots of static, and tinny. But it plays the sound from the video, so I can still hear what someone is saying.. just with this added 'effect'. It always happens on snapchat or Instagram and when I go to YouTube or spotify it sounds fine (it might happen on other apps but this is where I noticed it so far). At first I thought maybe I screwed up my speaker somehow like water damage. But if I did that wouldn't the sound be weird in any app? Is this some sort of known bug or software issue? Is anyone else experiencing this problem, and if so is there any way to fix it? I'm using the Verizon model VS98610B
If your speaker was bad, you would get bad audio with every app. I'm guessing Snapchat and Instagram have low quality audio compared to You Tube and Spotify.

earpiece sparked issues
I'm on my third LG g4. The first G4 I got, I set up and then checked my voicemail following morning to find the earpiece speaker making a tinny crackleing unrecognizable sound. I promptly return the phone to the store where I purchased it to get a g4. I got that one home and set it up on the speaker workeds great! In just a few days I realized that the second phone had the screen glitch that so many others are talking about so within seven days I returned it. I'm now on my third LG g4. I'm probably just beyond three weeks of having this phone and just now my speaker has gone out. Or at least its doing the same thing that it was doing. I can use speaker phone just fine and YouTube and all the other apps work great but the earpiece speaker has twice failed me. This phone has been in a case under a glass screen protector since day one and has never been dropped or damaged in any way. I noticed about 2 days ago that people haven't been able to hear me when I've been on the phone with it. I've been using LG phone for the last 15 years and really haven't had any complaints. I expected the best from this phone and aside from these issues I have gotten what I expected. I got the same phone for my wife at the same time. She is still on her very first g4 with no problems at all. I'm a bit taken aback by this whole thing. I'll be calling today to see what the dealers will do for me and if not I'll be getting a hold of LG to get it under warranty.
Another user and I had similar issues, in another thread:
[Problem] In-Ear Volume Cuts Off?
In my case, rebooting would at least temporarily fix the issue. Does that help with your phone?
Hi
My wife has had this phone for 8 months now. For a few months she's been complaining about very poor signal with the phone - significantly worse than her last phone with the same network. To make matters significantly worse, about 2 weeks ago the speakers packed up entirely. No sound issues at all - whether ringtones, alarms or media - except with headphones plugged in or when on a call (and on a call the speakers still do not work, but the earpiece does).
Has anyone come across either of these issues before? I'm thinking that the next step is unlock and flash a replacement OS to see if there's some bug there or if it's a hardware issue. If it is hardware, we're probably just looking at getting a new phone - I've heard mixed things about the Wileyfox support.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be very grateful!
Not sure about speakers, but my reception is terrible too.
Me too... no audio from speakers
I've just had this exact issue start up on my WileyFox Swift 2X this morning. It was playing a YouTube video just fine and then all of a sudden the audio went out and it never came back! All I hear is a very faint tick, tick, tick, tick... noise where it should be playing sound. Such a shame because the device was working pretty alright before this issue.
(Plugging in headphones works okay btw. It's just the main speaker that's gone out.)
I haven't had this issue before until, maybe some of you may know, a new game Genshin Impact came out and only with this game do I meet this problem where I *think* it's the top speaker crackling and popping very occasionally. It's happening consistently with this game, and other than this game I don't do anything else resource heavy on my phone, and the popping only occurs once or twice every few minutes.
Anyone else come across something like this?
Genshin Impact issues
Indeed, I faced similar problems while using my S20+, the settings I have set them only to render in medium for resolution, and low for every other setting at 30 fps, it still has that popping issue. Anyone could help to solve this? Or is this something the game developers Mihoyo has to fix?
Sounds like the note 7 all over again. I’d carry a fire extinguisher with you..
