i have the same problem with sometimes empty frequent-contacts on favorites-tab in the dialer on my bq Aquaris X (bardock) running 15.1 .
It happens since about 4 or 5 weeks. Sometimes once a week, sometines after 10 days or longer.
There is no connection with OTA-updates or rebooting the phone.
It also happens on a friends Nexus 6 (shamu) running 16.0.
On his phone about every 2-3 days.
Deleting cache/data didn´t help.
Also a clean install of 16.0 on my friends Nexus6 didn´t solve this behaviour.
Permissions for the dialer-app of course are all set to "allowed" (contacts, storage, etc)
except location and WiFi/mobile data connections.

asus 550ml 2gb many problems 5 weeks

I've had the abve phne fr 5 weeks
everything was fine after I installed the latest firmwares [last 2 May and June]
5 weeks and things got worse:
- network drops still there: especially when idle or after using wifi: calls get straight to answering machine and no notification; SMS I get them 3-4 hours later or longer
- phone wont even see external SD card. took it out and in but no joy; tried different ones they worked before and they work in my shield tablet [lollipop and ubuntu]; I also noticed in apps that 'external storage' has 0kn and is greyed ut meaning I cant clear cache or disable/ force stop
- can't get it to vibrate: again was fine before upgrades
- II did , wiped cache after FW upgrades and updated all zen apps and everything else. I have a micro SIM [not cut one]. Yes I did a hard reset as well
- phone sometimes dies in network and people call me and it goes straight t answering machine; most times I don’t get any notifications [SMS] or I get them after 3-4 [many network drops]
I posted these problems in zentalk forums but never acknowledged by asus and only tip was to do a wipe cache

Although you mentioned it worked fine before the update, It sounds like it may be your network provider. Are you in a location where the signal is normal or in a different location?

Korean Galaxy Note 2/Note 2 LTE keeps restarting

Hello everybody,
got this mobile a few months ago, latest Android officially available release, only thing I did was rooting and adding some software, I use it as a second device mostly to check email and online services, I use my other smartphone as a phone and for calendars, phonebook and notes.
I noticed that the device all of a sudden restarts without me doing anything, my son (who uses Android since longer than me but who doesn't really know much about it...) said it could be the heat (it's always in the shade) or too many options on (wi-fi in primis) but I checked and there are just a few apps running (mail, phone, phonebook, sometimes Instagram), what can I check to find how does it restart without any notice or action from me?

I had an issue where my Note 2 would randomly reboot, I also had an issue where my power button was dodgy.
What it ended up being was the ribbon for the power button, got this replaced, and this fixed my dodgy power button issue, as well as the random reboots.
I paid to get this done in a shop, but it seems you can do this yourself.

What you are experiencing is know as SOD (silence of death) on our Android World
If your phone is rooted and you have custom Kernel then it would be due to the kernel... change your kernel to stock or a more stable one as per your device.
If you have a stock kernel... then clean your cache.. etc.. or better reflash stock ROM...
alternately use Betterbattary stats to identify if you have any rogue application which is causing issues...
I have experience this issue when I did rooting.. re root it with the correct method....
I did only root it as to install software I download from the internet, everything is as it originally was, ROM is the stock one.
Which are the steps to perform to clean the cache and to check if some app is making the OS crash?

LineageOS unstable on Wileyfox Swift (crackling)

Hi guys,
after unsuccessfully trying to contact people via reddit and IRC, maybe I can reach people via this forum who can be of help or to who I maybe be of help gathering information about a bug:
LineageOS (latest nightly) runs definately unstable on Wileyfox Swift (crackling). I get reboots during work or standby, even during calls. To be clear: it is not me who triggers this reboots, they just happen.
However, I could narrow down the problem: The reboots always happen when logging on to a new wireless network. I have been to these networks before (at home or at work). But for example when getting home or to work, the device sometimes reboots exactly at the point, when I get into range of the network. I have been out for the last 24 hours without any wireless network, the devices works smoothly and fine.
The problem does not occur at every connection. It's more like one out of ten maybe.
A colleague of mine having the same devices confirms the exact same behavior, so it is not my device.
I used latest Cyanogenmod for my device before I changed to LineageOS, never had that problem before. I did a complete format of the device using twrp before flashing LineageOS via twrp.
I could of course provide logfiles, being a Linux sysadmin I am definitive not a noob, however I am not familiar how to get logs out of LineageOS and where to post them. So if someone tells me how, maybe I can be of help solving this bug.

Hi there,
I just had the problem again: I walked into a building where I had wireless LAN before and the device rebooted. It is clearly the process of logging into a wifi network that triggers a reboot. But as I said before: this not happen everytime, typical bug.....
Hope anyone can halp or maybe confirm?

Unable to stay connected after s7 Nougat update?

Since i upgraded my s7 to Nougat, my Smartwatch 3 has failed to stay connected to the phone. Most of the time it refuses to connect at all.
Ive googled for days now, trying all of the usual stuff including clearing the bluetooth cache and wiping the system cache, unpairing the watch, safe mode, forgetting the watch and repairing, removing android wear.
The setup starts working and then during the sync stage, i start getting the bluetooth share has failed message several times although most apps seem to sync eg watchmaker pro and strava.
My question is should the Smartwatch 3 still work correctly with my phone even though the phone is on Android 7.0 and the phone is on 6.0?

My SW3 works great with my HTC 10 running Nougat.
Have you tried doing a factory reset on the watch?
That was going to be my last resort!

Just completed a full reset. Paired first time but crashed several times with bluetooth share has failed.
Failed to complete and no longer connects
I'm also on 7.0 and no problem at all. Maybe is something wrong with your BT from S7, unfortunately I have to tell you to try try factory on the phone, if you can't find out. Samsung for me have strange way of using there BT connections maybe this is why.
Hope I'm not starting any flame but.... that's why I'm on HTC (and not only), Samsung (S4 and S5) phone several times have blocked my car BT system...

Thanks for the feedback. I have done a factory reset and it made no difference, but maybe it is a Samsung issue as nobody with an S7 has indicated they are using an SW3 with nougat.

I'm having same issues. Updated S7 edge to Nougat last week and everything running fine until SW3 ceased connecting today. Tried everything other than factory reset on phone and cannot get connection to SW3.
Mine has started working after a month of failing.
It's been connected for a couple of days without any disconnections.
The latest attempt was no different to any others.....
I switched off the watch, wiped the system cache, restarted the phone and watch and lt connected.
I left it alone as apps started to sync and there were some bluetooth share has stopped messages but everything works!

If you use in the phone the option "deep kill all apps" in recen menus... you will have sync problem... It happend me with my op3...
I have similar problem with my S7. It works fine with bt connection as long as i connect the watch over wifi. Then no more bt connection is established, only wifi. Turning off wifi makes the watch permanently offline.
Very annoying as my watch can't sync when outside my wifi range.
Any solution so far?

Questions in regards to Lenovo P2 lineage os update

Hi,
I found my P2 with LineAgeOS-Version 15.1. In the meantime I switched to an Mate 10 Pro, which is missing so many features in regards to LineageOS/P2.
Long story short:
How can I upgrade to for example LineageOS 16.x with keeping the data?
If this is not possible, what has to be done to get to 16.x.?
Is there an option to "transfer" all android data from my Mate 10 to the P2. I really hope that there is an option otherwise this probaly means hours of work.
Where do you generally store your data for sync? I used to have to contacts on the simcard, some time ago I switched to Google Contacts. Where do you save your photos?
