Unable to stay connected after s7 Nougat update? - Sony Smartwatch 3

Since i upgraded my s7 to Nougat, my Smartwatch 3 has failed to stay connected to the phone. Most of the time it refuses to connect at all.
Ive googled for days now, trying all of the usual stuff including clearing the bluetooth cache and wiping the system cache, unpairing the watch, safe mode, forgetting the watch and repairing, removing android wear.
The setup starts working and then during the sync stage, i start getting the bluetooth share has failed message several times although most apps seem to sync eg watchmaker pro and strava.
My question is should the Smartwatch 3 still work correctly with my phone even though the phone is on Android 7.0 and the phone is on 6.0?
Thanks
Andy

My SW3 works great with my HTC 10 running Nougat.
Have you tried doing a factory reset on the watch?

That was going to be my last resort!
Think I may be there though
Thanks,
Andy

Just completed a full reset. Paired first time but crashed several times with bluetooth share has failed.
Failed to complete and no longer connects

I'm also on 7.0 and no problem at all. Maybe is something wrong with your BT from S7, unfortunately I have to tell you to try try factory on the phone, if you can't find out. Samsung for me have strange way of using there BT connections maybe this is why.
Hope I'm not starting any flame but.... that's why I'm on HTC (and not only), Samsung (S4 and S5) phone several times have blocked my car BT system...

Thanks for the feedback. I have done a factory reset and it made no difference, but maybe it is a Samsung issue as nobody with an S7 has indicated they are using an SW3 with nougat.

I'm having same issues. Updated S7 edge to Nougat last week and everything running fine until SW3 ceased connecting today. Tried everything other than factory reset on phone and cannot get connection to SW3.

Mine has started working after a month of failing.
It's been connected for a couple of days without any disconnections.
The latest attempt was no different to any others.....
I switched off the watch, wiped the system cache, restarted the phone and watch and lt connected.
I left it alone as apps started to sync and there were some bluetooth share has stopped messages but everything works!

try this:

If you use in the phone the option "deep kill all apps" in recen menus... you will have sync problem... It happend me with my op3...

I have similar problem with my S7. It works fine with bt connection as long as i connect the watch over wifi. Then no more bt connection is established, only wifi. Turning off wifi makes the watch permanently offline.
Very annoying as my watch can't sync when outside my wifi range.
Any solution so far?

Unfortunately Bluetooth has stopped

Within the last week I've started to experience an error that says "unfortunately bluetooth has stopped" dozens of times per day. If I am in a public place like a mall or an airport then the error happens literally about every 5 minutes. When the error happens I can look at my settings and see bluetooth has been turned off and it will automatically turn back on until the error happens again. I am stock and not rooted.
I've researched on the Internet and this error appears to be related to a Bluetooth bug in Android 4.4.2. Apparently every time the phone sees a Bluetooth device, it registers that device in a log regardless of whether you connect to it or not. Once the log reaches some high number that from memory is somewhere near 2000 devices, the error occurs because the bug is that the log doesn't flush itself and can't handle the next device that sees.
That matches my experience. I can connect to my own Bluetooth devices including my android wear watch but when I am in public, presumably where there are a lot of Bluetooth Beacons, I will start having the error in my android where watch dropping offline. At that point the only thing that you can do is restart the phone and it will work again until it sees another Bluetooth device. It's a horrible bug.
The only way to reset the log appears to be to reset your phone. With me being stock and not rooted, are there any options for a mass backup and restore of my phone's apps and data without having to actually set the phone up again and deal with each app individually? I'm going to be getting the new LG flex 2 when it comes out so I don't want to spend much time on this but would love to fix it if it was easy.
It's ASTONISHING Google has not offered a fix for this HUGE bug, which is affecting thousands of people.
Shame on them.
I was having the same problem. A quick google search said to go into the Settings, Application Manager, All, Bluetooth and reset the Bluetooth app. I went ahead and cleared data and cache. Hopefully this works. I really don't want to do an FDR.
I'm having the same issue although I tried clearing the data and cache, forced stop the restarted my phone - when my phone came back up it still had my other 2 bluetooth devices in the memory so I thought that by forcing stop it somehow didn't really clear the cache and data so I then cleared those again and then when back to the bluetooth app - they were still there even though I specifically cleared the data. Then I tried clearing and then just restarting the phone after it cleared - to now avail. : (
I've been searching for an answer to this problem because I have bluetooth speakers I want to connect to but every time it gets to the searching for devices and it sees it the bluetooth app crashes and then restarts and crashes when I hit the search for devices again. over and over again!
This totally BLOWSl -

Note 4 not pairing

I have just bought a Moto 360 and can't for the life of me get it to pair with my phone (SM-N910G). I've tried everything I know but always get the message "Unable to pair with Moto 360. Incorrect PIN or password"
I have restarted the phone, deleted all stored pairs, reset the phone etc but still nothing.
I did manage to get it to pair with my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 for long enough to set it up and download the update. Since then I have unpaired the tablet and reset it a few times but still can't get the Note 4 to connect.
The bluetooth pin should come up on the screen when pairing (it does with the tablet) but when I try to pair the phone it just flashes up then is gone. After that is when I get the error about not connecting.
Any hints or advice would be greatly appreciated because right now it's looking like the watch will be going back to HN if I can't get it to work.
I don't have Note 4 but maybe something simple like using app for BT connectivity would help... Bluetooth Auto Connect or something.

One more thing. Reset your watch before you try. When I had pairing issues that did the trick for me.
Hi,
I own a N910F (EU version) and i had no problem to pair my moto360... just start android Wear and everything worked well...
Are you running any blocking apps, like Xprivacy, a firewall or the like?
The phone is totally stock bar a few apps loaded but nothing that should affect the pairing.
I went back to the store and showed them what was happening. The girl working there pulled out her SM-N910G and it connected first go to the Moto 360. The only thing we could figure is she had the generic samsung software and I have the Telstra variant.
As it was a Telstra supplied phone I got onto their facebook support page. They gave me a few things to try but none of it worked until I bit the bullet and fully factory reset the phone. Having worked on it for a few days to this point, I forgot to backup my photos before resetting :crying:. On the bright side though the phone and watch now connect and work perfectly together.
I had he generic Samsung ROM downloaded ready to flash onto the phone if the reset didn't work but thankfully it has...

Won't stay connected

Just got this watch. I had the Moto 360 before, it worked fine.
This doesn't want to stay connected. I have to reset the watch, uninstall Android Wear and re-install it, then it'll connect once. After that, it disconnects and won't connect again. So notifications, syncing, weather, etc don't work.
Looking at my phone in Android Wear it just says Connecting.... on the watch, it says disconnected. Going into Bluetooth settings doesn't do a damn thing either.
Try Bluetooth Auto Connect from Playstore, it´s working for me on a Note3 with Omega Rom
Thanks for the reply. I managed to sort it out... I missed the step to click "trust device" during the initial set up. I didn't realize that was a necessary step for the watch to stay connected. You'd think it'd just do it automatically.
I don´t know, if it´s automatic, but i have the function with klicking on "trust device", no change, only the "Blutetoot Auto Connect" app is working.
This piece of crap is doing it again. Once its been disconnected, it won't connect again without complelety startinh over and resetting everything.
I'll check out that app.
You know, people can bash apple all they want, but at least their **** actually works properly.
Hasn't happened in a while, but if mine won't connect I just go to the android wear app and disconnect the Zenwatch then connect again. Works every time...
Tried that, many times.. never works. That app doesn't work either.
Well this is a serious problem I've had the watch for about six weeks now it took awhile to get initial set up to begin with I was at the point to return it on the first day , then I don't know how but it just paired and started working fine , I was very happy until today turned the watch on it wasn't paired and I've literally been trying for hours to get this chit to connect with no luck I've reset it ,tried the app mentioned above no luck at this point I give up I bough it at best buy but I'm past the return period I'm going to try and find some customer service rep ,at this point I give up trying to get the watch to work,if anyone knows of a customer service phone number I would greatly appreciate it , or if anyone here has any helpful information , ,I'm pretty tech wavy. But I surrender at this point what a shame I really liked the watch but the aggravation factor is to much ,sorry for the.long rant but there's no where else to vent or look for help maybe together as a group we can find some answers again any help would be greatly appreciated......

Thank's for replying but yes I've tried everything under the sun , just got home from work , going to see if I can't find a customer service number , if I can't get it resolved by the weekend I might as well throw 200$ in the Trash because That's where it's Going ....................:crying:
Go to settings / apps on your phone. Find google play services under running apps. See if device connection service is running. If not try rebooting your phone then the watch in that order and try to pair. You could also check if there is an update for play services and update if there is.

Same issue here, boxing up my ZenWatch and bringing it back to Best Buy today. Still within the 15 days. I really like the watch but these random disconnects are a killer. Most of the time it auto-reconnects but every now and then I have to reboot everything--which is kinda ridiculous if I'm out running.
At least I'll have a different watch with everything else the same for comparison sake and report back.
Have you tried uninstalling zenwatch manager? Mine started disconnecting after the last update, and uninstalling seems to have fixed my issue

I had the same problem I think the update from google services broke it.
unpair the watch from your phone then factory reset the watch and this is IMPORTANT pair your watch using "android wear" NOT the Bluetooth from the system phone
after I paired my watch using Android Wear now the watch stay connected and reconnect normally

After half a day working this seems to be the solution, thanks. :good:
Bad luck: two days later same problem persists (frequently disconnecting)
I am getting pretty tired of my Zenwatch not staying connected either. $200 is a lot of money for a watch that doesn't work right. It's had three or four updates since I bought it and it still sucks, should have sent it back the first week.
The Google nag to enable Google Now in the Android Wear screen is also a sore spot with me, if I wanted it enabled it would be enabled.
This whole "wearables" thing seems to be a poorly executed fad more than anything else, one that I'll be avoiding from here on out.
why would you have a watch that relies so heavily on google now and not enable it? connection has been just fine for me no several phones and software versions since I got it in January

Same here. I mean, it has disconnected maybe 3 times since I got it in November, but it hasn't been a big issue. Toggling BT on the phone reconnected it. I also agree with you about Google Now. It's central to how Wear works. Using a Wear device without Now would be like buying a car and trying to drive it without starting the engine.

You don't need Google now to benefit from owning this watch.
1. I like the ability to change watch faces and create my own with Watchmaker.
2. I can answer or dismiss a call from the watch.
3. Text and email notifications.
That's all I care about, anything else is an unnecessary distraction.

Huawei watch 1 + Android Wear 2 + iOS 11?

I had my Huawei watch 1 working with Android Wear 2 on my iPhone 7+ working for several months with iOS10. However, as soon as I upgrade to iOS 11 I realised that my Huawei Watch was not connected to my iPhone but still connected to and working on my wifi. Having tried unsuccessfully many times to pair the watch and phone I decided to reset the watch and reinstall AW2. BIG MISTAKE.
Although I reset ok and AW2 asking me if I want to pair with my watch, every time pairing fails. I have gone to Blue tooth and told it to forget the Huawei watch, which it does and I then start again. However after more than 20 unsuccessful attempts, I conclude that there is an issue between iOS11 and the watch & AW2. The Watch now will only function in settings and is now useless, unless and until the three separate organisations get their act together and resolve the conflict.
Any thoughts or suggestions or experience to share before I buy a new (Apple?) watch

Hi, I am also having trouble, but it is getting better. I don't think ios 11 is the problem as I was running my Huawei with aw 2.0 on my iPhone 6 after updating to 11. Everything was as it was on ios 10. Then, a few days later I got the iPhone 8 plus and everything fell apart. The BT connection has been very unreliable. I could actually watch the connection rapidly connect and then disconnect over and over on the AW app and my phone settings. I also lost Google Assistant and the Play Store. Today has been much better. BT connection stable all day and GA is back, but I still can't connect to the Play Store. Have you found any answers?
Factory reset helped me.
Same thing here, updated to iOS 11 and it was working, but after a day it got disconnected and never re-connected, trying a factory reset did nothing, could not reconnect.
Same with me. I thought it was working after I've updated the IOS to 11, but after a day, my watch refuse to connect to the IPhone7. Watch's Bluetooth kept on toggling off automatically.
Can anyone confirm the Factory Reset (watch) solve the problem?

I've had the same issue as you guys. It worked on the IPhone8 for a couple hours then disconnected. I couldn't even get it to pair after that. I spent a couple hours at an apple genius bar today. While there ios 11.0.1 dropped. I installed and could pair my phone to the watch but it quickly started having issues. It was constantly connecting and disconnecting. They asked if they could have my phone to send in and have the logs checked. I agreed and they gave me a new phone. Hopefully this helps them fix the issue in a future update.
I'm having the same issue with a Fossil Q Founder 2.0, so this seems to be a larger iOS 11 / Android Wear compatibility problem and not hardware-specific. It was working fine on iOS 10, but as soon as I upgraded to 11, the watch was having issues staying connected (which in turn drained the watch battery very quickly). I had the same idea as above, and tried factory resetting the watch - now I can't get it to connect at all.
I signed up for a beta software profile on the iPhone. I received ios 11.1 beta today and immediately installed. My watch is presently paired and receiving updates ?
Edit: It only stayed connected for ~half hour. I just submitted a detailed report to Apple through their feedback app.
My theory is that iOS is killing/hibernating/sleeping the Android Wear app after some time in the background.
What I'm doing:
- review the connectivity from time to time
- if it is not working:
, manually kill the Android Wear app, open it again and, from the card in the watch, start the resync process.
Some extra information: Moto 360 2nd gen + iPhone 6 with iOS 11.0.1
In addition to this, the application on the iPhone is constantly active in the background and will kill the battery in a few hours.
ip 7 plus + huawei watch 2
I have a Nixon Mission and after upgrade to iOS 11.0 (iPhone7) I have also lost connection. I did a factory reset that worked for about half an hour... I also tried with iOS 11.0.1 and the **** is the same.

Same here. Reset watch and now can't connect at all. Interestingly it doesn't show up as a device in Bluetooth settings to forget
And another one here. I haven't tried a factory reset, just in case I can't reconnect. But nothing I do seems to fix the problem. After the iOS11 upgrade my watch was initially connecting ok, but now it won't. I've rebooted both devices, toggled airplane mode, wifi, bluetooth, killed Android Wear app (iOS), etc. Nothing seems to work.
Well guys I sold my Huawei watch and got a series 3 Apple watch. All I can say is watch os4 is miles ahead of Android wear 2.0. I've been on Android since the inception of the smartphone. This is my first iPhone and I'm learning to really love it. Android is in the same ballpark in the phone arena. As for the watch department, android is not even in the same universe. Android does offer way better selection and style, but software pffft. I hope Apple fixes the issue quickly for you guys. I've gave them lots of information and logs through their beta program, hopefully it helps. RIP Huawei watch ?
Hi!!! had the same problem.. i put my phone on airplane mode a couple of seconds.. (to get wifi and bluetooth off) and the disabled airplane mode... and instantly reconnected to my huawei watch,
Hope this helps.
Anyone figured this out yet??
I have an iPhone 6s and running iOS 11.1 beta 2. I did a factory reset on the watch and the setup screen would show the watch but when I select it, it says cannot pair. I cannot connect to it at all! This happened when I was on the stable release of iOS 11 too just in case you are going to say it’s brcause I’m using a beta version of iOS. Thanks in advance!!
With latest firmware and lates android wear update everything works as it should. Cheers b.

Galaxy Watch 4G LTE

Hello everyone, I've had a problem for a few days. (I am from France)
I have a galaxy S10 running Android 10
And a Galaxy watch under tizen 4.0.0.4 (I'm waiting for 4.0.0.7)
The stand-alone mode works, but the remote connected mode (4G) no longer works. However, I am good in 4g on the phone and on the watch. Also, I have activated on galaxy wearable, the remote connection box. (see picture)
Is this a problem from Samsung? Watch? Phone? Thanks for your help ?

Have you enabled it with your carrier? Mine required an extra plan to be able to use the 4g with my watch.
Thanks U for your Answer.
Of course, it s actived
Sometimes I have to reboot watch to make it work
Good day to you I'm working on the assumption that it is something that has worked and stopped functioning temporarily.
I wouldn't worry about it too much to be honest.
The watch connects to the phone over LTE via some cloud servers, occasionally they have issues with getting the watch to connect with the phone effectively, it happened to me a few weeks back but sorted it's self out after a few hours.
If it's something that's been going on for a longer time than a day or so, then it's time to start troubleshooting.

thank you for the answer. I also think that it comes from samsung servers because even when my watch is connected by Wifi and the mobile in 4g (or wifi because I also tested) it does not work anymore. However, it's been over 2 days now, so I don't think it comes from the watch ... Am I wrong?
Hmmm, try uninstalling the wear app, then reinstall again, if that isn't working you can try resetting the watch to factory settings and try again, it is possible it's a Samsung service issue, definitely something isn't handshaking somewhere, 2 days seems a bit of a long time for it to be a service issue though :/
Well, I tested everything to find out where the problem could come from. However, less than one could say is that Samsung technicians are not ... How to say ... Responsive! And that's a shame. That said, the main thing is to have found (I hope) the solution, and that it could help people.
The problem came from the toggle of the request "notif arriving on lel" and which is sent to the samsung account and then that the watch receives it and by analyzing my samsung account (with a pc on the samsung site), it generates that the "cloud" part of my account was not active but in error (and no response from samsung on an e-mail that I sent to them, hence my amazement about the reactivity).
Suddenly, I had a second samsung account, I re-paired everything, put this new account in wearale (essential), checked on the samung site that cloud state "active" and the ca worked direct .....
So the mystery: why my cloud (which is used to receive notifications) was in error .... I would never know lol. Or was it a confluence between the 2 accounts? I don't think it worked before ... In advance, I completely deleted this account that had the error.
I hope this solution will be eternal lol and that it will help
