USB-C to 3.5mm adaptor - OnePlus 7 Pro Accessories

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew where to get the OnePlus adaptor from other than their website. They are out of stock and I see what looks to be cheap knockoffs online.
Thanks

I got a google one from best buy yesterday for 9.99 and it works great. Here and now my luck its on sale for 8.99

I bought the oem one on aliexpress for $3
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ori...995.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.a94c4c4dZpcrUa

I'm a bit curious about the situation with the USB-C to 3.5mm. Do I need an adaptor with or without an DAC inside the adaptor, and what if there is an DAC inside or not?

Does the Google one have an included DAC like the OnePlus version?

Being a google product I am sure it does or if not better. I tested it and it sounded great in my car, I have an aftermarket system with Amps and a DSP and it sounded better than my OnePlus 6 and I am using VIPER4Android with it too. Well worth it.

Great thanks for the info, I'll probably just swing by and pick that up. Waiting on OnePlus to restock will probably be a while.

There is no DAC inside the phone to output analog audio through the usb-c port. Any adapter you get will need to have one inside like the Google dongle does. If you are curious, check this out.
I personally don't think those little things sound that great and they can't drive sensitive IEMs or power hungry headphones very well from my experience, which is why I suggest products like the FIIO μBTR, BTR1 or 3, or Astell & Kern XB10, EarStudio ES100, so on and so forth. Of course the added expense is only worth it if you're driving good earphones, otherwise the Google dongle is just fine.

Well that would explain why some dongles work and some don't. Thanks for the link, very informative.

You can use either type of adapter. The Oneplus7 Pro does have an audio DAC inside it. I have tried both passive (just past through analog audio) and active (have a DAC built-in) and they both worked with the Pro 7. Some phones (Pixel for example) don't have the capability to pass analog audio out the USB-C jack.

Have you tried charging with a USB pd charger? Since the op7pro supports that at least.
Also wanted to add my old HTC 11 adapter works

The passive adapters were these ADTRIP ones https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NVDT57C/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The active adapter I tried was this Essential Products one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079GZFWQ9/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_jOY3CbK6NJ8RC
For kicks, I tried them both on my Pixel XL (it has a headphone jack, but I thought I would try). Like the Pixel 2 and 3, it only supported an active adapter that has a DAC built-in. The passive ones didn't work with it.
It is nice Oneplus supports analog out the USB-C port as they are cheaper (the one linked above is only $8 for two of them and next day delivery for Prime members).

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that adtrip has a DAC in it.

Although it is possible, it seems unlikely based on two things. 1. The ADTRIP adapters did not work on my Pixel XL. The Essential adapter did and we know the Essential has a DAC in it. 2. The ADTRIP adapter Amazon page specifically says it does not work with Pixel phones. Pixel phones need an adapter with a DAC built in.
Edit: Scrolling down further in the ADTRIP Amazon page, they have a chart that shows the specifications for each ADTRIP product. These two-pack audio adapters are analog (passive).

Oneplus usb c to 3.5mm is a passive adapter, meaning it uses internal DAC and running audio over usb port as analogue. It works the same way as mini jack output. But what oneplus done is they put small relay that turns OTG automatically when you plug in. All other analogues required going to settings and turning OTG every time you want to listen over headphones. Bare in mind this option turns itself off after 10 minutes of inactivity. I bought this and it's working fine. amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07MBWZZGL?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

This works great for me, and you can charge while listining too.

Only $8.19 with free same day delivery, can't beat that.

I have the SGS2 world version (GT-I9100). Does the micro-USB connector on the bottom align up with all the other variants of this phone (Tmo, AT&T, Sprint..ect)? Do all of those have the plug in the same place?
EDIT sorry the pic is so big. I didn't know that before I posted...
EDIT #2 Reading a quick review of the Menotek adapter on Amazon, one of the complaints was its limitation of 720p output. Is that true? Cant the SGS2 output in 1080p?
Personally i'd just buy the cheapest MHL adaptor you can find. It's just a cable so why pay a fortune for it.
It's not just a cable -- there are some electronics inside (that's why they need a charger input).
Have you ordered one yet? I'd be interested in knowing which is the best option and weather there's any reason to avoid the really cheap ones?
gonna grab myself a cheap one of these adaptors and get my emulator groove on, on the big screen.. though god knows how gba games are going to look at 32inches...probably not great.
No.is only cable.
I got official samsung and it is working fine
I have the first one, if your phone is not in airplane mode the screen on your tv often goes completely black. You have to reconnect the mhl cable to display the screen on your tv again. Annoying when watching videos but putting your phone into airplane mode fixes this completely.
Quality is great, downloading a movie and watching it looks incredible, full HD. However if you plan on watching youtube videos on your TV, I suggest you download the app TubeMate, it allows you to stream YT videos in a much higher quality than the standard app.

I have used one of these but not branded.
But I am not so sure about what RCP is for as it is wired and provides no additional gadget for "remote control".
And it's only $13 elsewhere.

MHL Adaptor
I bought one a few days ago from Amazon.co.uk, offical Samsung for £14.99 with free delivery, bargain in my opinion.
You have to connect the Samsung charger to power it (although i haven't tested it without the charger to see if it still works). The phone battery seems to drain really fast with the MHL outputting via HDMI, and gets a little warm also, both cores doing their bit no doubt.
Have to say i'm very happy with, and the CEC function (if your tv supports it) is the icing on the cake. With it, you can use your tv's remote (or any ALL in One as in my case [Logitech]) to control the phone navigation, you can play games using the remotes d-pad, and use it to click on items in the menu, or on the internet, rewind, pause and fast forward videos.
I too had the screen blacking out on me as one person mentioned earlier, espcially when playing games, I'll try and see what flight mode does for it, but my conclusions where a less than perfect HDMI cable, as when i tested it on my brothers tv it worked flawlessly without a single blackout (Using a HDMI cable supplied with his SKY+ box).
Might have to buy one of these but i'm still looking for a solution to sending audio NOT over the HDMI since I don't have a HDMI input on my monitors, only DVI. Either over analogue 3.5mm out or bluetooth would be fine!
I think the reason it drains the battery still is because it is using the data pins to send the video. For fast charge these pins would usually be shorted and you can't have both. (That's my understanding anyway!)
I have bought on ebay 1 cable mhl + 1 cable micro usb --> USB femal for only 15€
But the max resolution of mhl is 720p

why cant we use the camera app when using the MHL function?...is it a hardware restriction?...i was using cm9 and when i start the camera with the adapter plugged in then close the camera app ,for a second the camera screen shows up on the tv.....if its hardware restricted then it would not do that at all...
on my mhl cable only outputs 1080i,is it adaptors fault?

Does this type of cable exist for the SGS3 phone?

I'm coming over from an iphone for which I have this cable.
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Cable-3-5mm-Charger-iPhone/dp/B00509DPRQ/ref=pd_cp_cps_1
It has the standard iphone connector on one end, then the other end has both a usb and aux. This lets me connect just one cable to the phone, then on the other end I plug the usb into my car's usb plug and the aux into the aux jack.
Basically with one cable going to the phone I can charge it and get audio through the car stereo.
Does the same thing exist for the S3?
In the setup you described you would need at least two connections one to charge and one to transmit audio

The difference is that the iPhone transmits standard stereo audio over the iphone connector, so a Y cable works for this. Since you don't get audio over the USB connector on the SG3 this sort of cable would not make sense.

You should look into the Samsung Infuse 4G car dock. There is a thread discussing it but I can't post links yet. It works perfectly with the S3 from what I gather. The dock itself has an audio out that u can use for your car.

You can also use it as a home dock.
I recently started developing cables for the exact same purpose (Micro USB to audio out+charging)
I will be constructing and selling around 10 of these cables . Please email me or PM me on [email protected] if interested.
I can sell it to you via eBay and also use Paypal.

Because if you can only charge via USB. I have USB charger and aux-in for car stereo. I have tested infuse dock but that sound quality was poor and like a flat because bass was missing. I did't found program what only modified EQ when phone is in dock-mode. But i am not sure if this cable situation any better because i asked mrushabh that when plug that cable on the phone it is going to dock-mode.

Not entirely true. I have a Hyundai Sonata, and my car can also scan the SD (or internal memory) for music files and play them, allowing me to navigate via the radio.
Unfortunately, it does not allow things like Tune In Radio to work, so I have to use an AUX jack anyway.
It's really too bad, and its definitely one thing Apple did right. The USB in these phones should be able to transmit audio. There shouldn't be any technical reason why it can't, it's just USB, and USB transfers audio all the time. I guess the problem would be having car stereos that would support it.
Perhaps I generalized too much. I have only aux in, and seperate usb-charger.

It needs to have the DAC in the adapter. Don't know what that is called. Look for digital adapter?
although you should wait for it to come at the end of nov
there is some in amazon but mostly bad or untasted
the adapter it self-have a dac & amp so all the sound process handled by the adapter
so if you pick it a bad one it will sound bad

Yes, I'm waffling on this whole removing the headphone port thing. Now you have some choice in the DAC you get and can change it if you don't like it, opens the market for some that actually care about good sound to make a good DAC dongle. I'm on the lookout for something to pair with my triplefi.
Also now the headphone port comes out the bottom of the phone where it belongs.

In 2020
When you want a new adapter or headset or charger or any usbC accessories then you can just buy the first thing you see in Amazon
BUT now you can't do that most of the usbC accessories don't follow the standard and could damage your device
The only option is to go for oem or certified accessories by oem
Major headphone companies like Beats, V-Moda etc. that have those exchangeable 3.5mm wires make wires that both are male 3.5mm and usb-c.

The image above was found at Walmart. After reading an article about not to buy cheap usb-c, I'm kinda of hesitant to pull the trigger and get this. That's why I was hoping that the major headphone companies would invest making it instead.
I'd love to see something like this that can connect directly to my headphones with whatever it needs inline to connect to the Pixel 2. That would essentially solve any problems with existing headphones and would still only have the one cable to the phone.
Guess I can't post links yet but was trying to link NewFantasia Replacement Audio Upgrade Cable for Sennheiser HD598 / HD558 / HD518 Headphones 1.2meters/4feet on Amazon.
HTC U11 and Essential Adapter both confirmed working.
i have 2 of them from my Moto Z Force and will try them tomorrow. if it works then THESE would work which are Prime and 2 for $8

Huawei P20 USB C Audio 3.5mm and Charge Adaptor

Hi Everyone,
Just got a P20, and overlooked the fact that I wouldn't be able to charge and play music in my car at the same time. My car only has aux (no bluetooth). I thought maybe there would be adaptors to allow a headphone jack and charging at the same time. But it looks like this is a iffy subject on most android phones without a headphone jack.
There are a few adaptors on amazon/ebay etc, but with reviews all over the place saying they don't work with most phones. I haven't found one that is confirmed to be working with the Huawei p20. Has anyone tried and have a working one for this phone?
Cheers,
Bryan
i bought this thing : https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00R1AJORM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's a bluetooth receptor you connect to a female jack port in your car .
But it's not powered by the jack so you need a usb port to charge it while you use it.

P20 Pro, yeah. Doing it right now The charge cable is pretty short so you'll either need to use a USB extension cable (I do) or keep the charger close by.
Tried 3 different things like this from different brands and always the same problem : stereo is inverted. What's the problem? Bad quality with these Chinese things or huawei problem?

Good point. I don't know enough about my music (I've only been listening to some of it for around 45 years - shame on me!) to tell when the stereo channels have been reversed. I can't recall any tracks actually containing lyrics alluding to which channel is left, and which is right. I'll check a few out on the supplied headphones adapter then one of these adapters, and report back.
***UPDATE*** Yes you're absolutely right. Or should that be left? The stereo channels are reversed with this adapter. As you say, is it really that hard to get the stereo seperation right?
Or maybe something huawei did wrong? I don't know but it's really a big problem for me.
With movies i think too, ex: imagine a car coming to the right and you ear it from the left. It's impossible.
I put a picture of a second set also defective. 2 pack, both inverted.

Finally I find the good ones. Sony ec270. Nice finish, quality looks good. Usbc connector very strong. And the most important: stereo is not inverted.
Cons: the price, around 20€.
Hi guys!
What headphones can you recommend, from your own experience, for a p20 music lover?

If you're going for headphones, I'd definitely go for a BT headphone, with an optional 3.5mm port on the headphones. I recently got a Skullcandy Hesh 3, I find it most pleasant, while it can be used with my PC too on the 3.5mm cable.
apple adapter not working properly
Hello everybody,
I'd like to share my experience. I bought the usb-C to headphone jack adapter from apple (MU7E2ZM/A), from the official spanish Apple store for 10 €, shipping included. I chose this article hoping that the good production quality would make it durable. The cable is a bit thin but it is very well made. The problem is that by connecting it to the P20, it is recognized (I have tried several headphones) and I can listen to music and watch videos, but when I make a traditional call, the audio is automatically moved to the phone, as well as the microphone. For whatsapp and skype calls it works perfectly. So I bought the cheapest adapter that was on ebay (1 euro plus 50 cents of shipping), and it works much better than the apple one. I can make calls normally and the maximum volume is significantly higher than the apple adapter.
moral of the story: the cheaper, the better
The model of the adapter is A2155. P20 model EML-L29. EMUI 9.1.0.387 (but the same problem was there at least from the last three releases.)

Internal microphone Issue when using Type C Adapter

Recently purchased the SM-N975U t-mobile variant. I begrudgingly purchased a type-c to 3.5 aux adapter to use my phone in my car for music.
I have the google brand adapter (not sure what it is called or if there are different types)
I noticed now when the dongle is plugged into my phone the microphone stops working on my device. I have to unplug the dongle to get the microphone on my device to work again which makes taking a call while driving a bit difficult.
Running through a few different diagnostics the phone is recognizing the aux adapter (google inc. Headphone adapter)
I'm assuming the device is attempting to use the headphone adapter as a microphone source (for headphones with an in-line mic). But my cars aux setup definitely does not have a microphone.
I've looked all through the settings on the phone for some solution as well as looking online but I have found nothing. I haven't been able to find anything online for anyone experiencing my same issue and I'm wondering if it might be an isolated issue with my device or maybe the specific adapter I have.
Does anyone have any ideas how i can keep the internal mic enabled while an aux adapter is plugged in?
I'll try this in my car. I didn't want a dongle so I simply bought a 3.5mm to USB C cord. Not sure if it matters.
I don't think it is possible without the software having the option. It is not just a headset dongle. The phone is feeding the audio to the USB C connector and looking for mic input from there as well. Those adapters have both the audio out and the microphone connection so you can just plug in any standard 3.5 mm earbuds or headset with a mic and make phone calls. It is similar to wanting the phone mic to work if you plugged a 3.5 mm headset into a 3.5 mm jack on a phone with a 3.5 mm jack. Manufacturers just design it so that the audio out and mic goes through that port when something is plugged in.
You may have to try a speaker and mic splitter cable with a lapel mic or something.
Also note that the Google adapters have a DAC chip in them. All of the adapters and a USB C headset that I had purchased for my Pixel 2XL work with the Note 10+. Except on one adapter the mic works for calls, but not for trying Bixby. That's the oldest adapter I have, so maybe it is only partially compatible.
The only other type of USB C to 3.5 mm adapter type that I am aware of does not have the DAC chip in them. If you look on, say Amazon, they will usually say not compatible with Pixel 2 or 3. Also sometimes will say not compatible with Essential phone, and a few others. If the price is really low, as in much less than $10 each they are likely not compatible. But again, it isn't the adapter that is the issue.

Does the 3.5mm to type C cable let the phones microphone work still when its plugged it? I might have to try this.

Yeah actually, it works fine. I just asked the Google Assistant for directions and it gave them to me without a problem.
I am having the same issue. I have used multiple adapters and none of them let the mic work right. It seems that the mic works for the ok Google command but that's it. Google can pick up the first command and not the second. This issue is so frustrating! I have the unlocked note 10 plus with the Google usb c dongle.

I ended up following the advice of the replies here and went to amazon and picked up a 3.5 aux to usb C cable and it works perfectly.
I believe the dongles don't work with cars because the s10 note is recognizing the adapter as a headphone adapter and is looking to use the headphones inline microphone. I'm sure if the car had a built in microphone it could work with it but my car being an older jeep model does not have that. Like someone else mentioned in this thread, trying to use your internal microphone while plugged into a dongle to your car is the same as trying to use your internal microphone while a pair of usb C headphones are plugged in. It wont work.
I really wish manufacturers would continue putting aux ports on their phones but sadly that's just not how things are going to be.
Hope buying an aux to type C cable works for you and solves this problem since it fixed mine.

I have an older car with a 3.5mm aux audio input, and it works with these (the adapter must have DAC circuit included). "Ok Google", Phone calls on speaker in the phone, and also when using the car speakers, all work perfectly (in my case, phone mic always used therefore when in my car).
It's all in the quality of the USB-c to 3.5mm adapter - two items of primary importance, the adapter having a DAC and also handling the lead for the mic properly. The Samsung one is not available in black, so I use this (which works properly):
USB-C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter, USB Type-C to 3.5mm Adapter Nylon Cable [DAC Hi-Res] Compatible with iPad Pro New 2018,Pixle 2/XL/3,HTC,Samsung S8/S9/Note 8 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RMY3V9D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_PjBQDbQYN3YX9
That adapter when used in the car, I use with an extension cable (male on both ends) to connect to the aux input on the dashboard (as in the first picture - the cable has no lead for the mic).
When utilizing with earbuds for phone calls and the like, that same adapter can be used, but in this case the cable for the earbuds includes a lead for the microphone - see the second picture.
Some people have microphone issues in my opinion I believe the adapter has to properly include a DAC but also properly handle whether or not the microphone lead is connected. If no microphone lead connected, then adapter should work such that the phone "understands" there is no mic so the phone mic should be enabled.

Use Lesser Audio Switch app. It perfectly reroutes your mic audio and resolves all your issues while using USB C adapters.
