I know that the box will have one, but i need more to have around home and office. The official Google store have them for 9$ BUT THEY SHIP ALMOST by END OF NOV. now i was wondering if anyone knows of some third party extensions that are available on Amazon or so.. And if anyone knows what specs are we looking for in such converts so we search for the right ones..
Feedback after using it, the mic fails most of the timea (30th November)
It needs to have the DAC in the adapter. Don't know what that is called. Look for digital adapter?
although you should wait for it to come at the end of nov
there is some in amazon but mostly bad or untasted
the adapter it self-have a dac & amp so all the sound process handled by the adapter
so if you pick it a bad one it will sound bad
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...sprefix=usb+c+to+3,aps,359&crid=2C6833WQKUZDR
Yes, I'm waffling on this whole removing the headphone port thing. Now you have some choice in the DAC you get and can change it if you don't like it, opens the market for some that actually care about good sound to make a good DAC dongle. I'm on the lookout for something to pair with my triplefi.
Also now the headphone port comes out the bottom of the phone where it belongs.

I agree, Googles will be the first choice, but a month and a half after releasing the phone for it to be available, it doesn't make sense.. Hence looking for a solution during that time..

In general I'm disappointed in USBC. This was supposed to be great but all these options are damn confusing. The connector is capable of so much but there is no standard to search for capabilities and compatibility.

Exactly my point.. Lets see
In 2020
When you want a new adapter or headset or charger or any usbC accessories then you can just buy the first thing you see in Amazon
BUT now you can't do that most of the usbC accessories don't follow the standard and could damage your device
The only option is to go for oem or certified accessories by oem
Major headphone companies like Beats, V-Moda etc. that have those exchangeable 3.5mm wires make wires that both are male 3.5mm and usb-c.

Cause I still have a premium functioning headphones that has those exchangeable 3.5mm that I bought 2 years ago. Don't want to shell out another $200+ for a bluetooth version and ending up with 2 headphones. And this way you don't have to carry that small adapter

If I could get a 2.5mm to USB C adapter like the one pictured above that worked with the Pixel 2 XL that would be the best of both worlds. I did some searching but was unable to find any, links?
You will have one when your device shows up. Their is one included.

The image above was found at Walmart. After reading an article about not to buy cheap usb-c, I'm kinda of hesitant to pull the trigger and get this. That's why I was hoping that the major headphone companies would invest making it instead.
I'd love to see something like this that can connect directly to my headphones with whatever it needs inline to connect to the Pixel 2. That would essentially solve any problems with existing headphones and would still only have the one cable to the phone.
Guess I can't post links yet but was trying to link NewFantasia Replacement Audio Upgrade Cable for Sennheiser HD598 / HD558 / HD518 Headphones 1.2meters/4feet on Amazon.
HTC U11 and Essential Adapter both confirmed working.
i have 2 of them from my Moto Z Force and will try them tomorrow. if it works then THESE would work which are Prime and 2 for $8

Hi Guys,
I have ASUS p320 winMo phone. I am searching for a miniUSB to 3.5mm adapter for connecting normal earphones to the phone...
There are plenty available for HTC phones and i'm sure ASUS has similar mini USB interface as HTC but problem is HTC have extUSB which has slightly different shape than regular miniUSB...extUSB pin is curved one side only unlike miniUSB which is curved at both ends...so it can not fit my phone
Are there anywhere selling miniUSB to 3.5mm adapter, which ship internationally and preferably having form factor without wires like this

Regards,
the difference between miniUSB and extUSB is that ext carry analog audio
where miniUSB is just a digital serial interface as in most of it not being audio
plugging a 3.5mm headset or otherwise audio device into an miniUSB is like
trying to connect a mic to a fax
Actually asus port is extUSB(ie has 11pins) but its port shape is miniUSB...
After much searching, I couldn't find anything like this for my Asus P565/XDA Zest. I ended up with one of these:
http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2007/...lessly-blasts-tunes-from-phone-to-hifi-or-pc/
If you don't mind the extra pocket space...
Ok guys, i managed to fit the HTC adapter which i've bought for my asus by filing the extUSB to minUSB
it now fits. When i plug in the adaptor connected with an earphone i do get the handsfree icon on my phone....but when I play i don't get any sound in my earphones..
I fear that some of things i tried with the adapter before filing it may have damaged it, so there's no sound now...
Do you guys think it would work if I should get a new adapter and file it again since I do get the earphone icon on my device when i connect it?
This one has some mixed reviews on it...

This is the same thing I get with that Motorola adapter. I assume that the adapter you have doens't have the correct number of pins either. I don't think you've damaged the socket at least
Found this on ebay. Not so mini but at least you can plug your own headphones into it.
EDIT: Or this is smaller and without the microphone, just not quite as small as the HTC adaptors.

I think the second adapter is a bit too long & unflexible. The first one though, considering I now use what is essentially an external MP3 player, looks promising and will no doubt provide better audio quality. I'll check that out, thanks!

Thanks "shuflie",
I was planning to buy a belkin BT to AUX adapter in my car + holder so I can enjoy GPS and music without wires, though I found by accident this HTC Car Stereoclip on the official HTC website.
I want to know i someone tried it and if it's reliable
+1
What I've read about it is that it sound is supposed to stream through it in very high quality
Would be interesting to know how practical it is.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I wonder where we can buy it now in Paris?
I'm planning to get one of these Belkin Gizmos and report back: http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=525857
I was going to buy the same Belkin, but the cables and 12v charger are uglier than the ''nude'' stereoclip.
I received an answer from HTC support, the stereoclip should stream all audio from the One X,included videos
Instead of buying a 600$ Pioneer to have video clips and concerts in your car(and lose wheel controls) I will get the stereoclip + official stand.
The bad news is that HTC will not release them in Europe/Asia before June, even mid June
Still nobody?
I want to know if it's good in playing videos and streaming the sound over the car's speaker?

I'll be getting mine in the next week. I can test and let you know!
So the carclip works well. It honestly sounds just as good as a wired connection. Also, all media will play through the receiver, meaning anything that normally is controlled by "media volume" will play through the car stereo. However, when you receive a call, it will revert back to the phone's on earpiece. My phone is affected by the poor wifi/bluetooth connection issue so the range is fairly small ~1 foot. However, when I press down on the back of the phone the range improves to > 2 feet easily. Also, I can't get my phone to autopair, but that may be due to the weak connection.
I have had it for about 10 days now. It works very well. I have tried it with both my One X and my iPhone 4s. It will pair with up to 8 devices. The sound is awesome, just as good as a CD to my ears. It lasts about 5-6hrs on a charge. I have not had any problems with it cutting out. If you are interested in this....I would say "Buy it". I am VERY impressed with it! It works with video also.

I paid a little less than that from here http://shop.htcpedia.com/htc-car-stereoclip-audio-bridge-a100.html
I heard that Sprint and AT&T stores here in the US will be selling them for even less than that. ~$50-60
Reviving the topic because we just got it in Lebanon!
Price: 120$
At this price I can buy both stereoclip and htc car holder in Europe!!!
So is it worth buying it after all?
Can you use GPS voice assisted app with it?
Also is it still better than the samsung HS3000?

no bro i don't have time, ill do this in the weekend
feutre haha better find something leathery and nice from a gift shop and glue it using uhu super gel (support leather and rubber)
Honestly get the hs3000, it sounds brilliant, no audio sync issues when watching videos
It works with phone calls, it also has a built in mic, had a few calls with it, I didn't ask how I sounded but they didn't complain at least
It has the play/pause, a phone button to either make calls, answer /hang up etc
Only cost me £30 as well, comes with some crappy head phones, I use the beats in ear ones I got with hox, sounds almost better than when plugged in
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The problem is that sammy Lebanon didn't bring it here!
So I must stick with HTC expensive solution...
Now I must choose between Stereoclip + stand = watching video clips,GPS...
Or add the factory Citroen USB Box which add USB plug to my car audio= control music with the wheel buttons + get mp3 tag on the car's screen.Though it will cost 350$.
The good thing of stereoclip is that I will be able to use it with most cars later and any BT device while the citroen usb box will only work with my actual car
Ok, so did some checking, apparently i need a specific cable to use my phone with the AppRadio2,
And an app called ARLiberator...checked the market and it is 35 frikkin dollars for the app.
Is this serious? 35 dollars? Holy cow, i could understand 10 bucks, but 35 dollars for an app?
Before I go any further with this, are there any Note 2 users out there with Pioneer's AppRadio2 and the Note 2 combined that would like to share feedback?
35 damn dollars.....better iron my shirts, cook breakfast, and wash my car every saturday lol
Seriously, any users out there that can shed some light on how it works would be great.
That's cheap. My boy bought the radio and had to buy cable from them and it was like 80 bucks
Well there is a proprietary 11 pin connector we need for our Note 2 to work with it.
Honestly I was just shocked at an app being 35 dollars. Makes me wish there was a free version so i could trial it out and see what I would be working with on my Note 2 and that AppRadio.
(I have the Pioneer AVH-8400BH, which only works with iOS. which is why i wanna get the Appradio if this app really unlocks the awesome potential...)

Tried their cable, the cable they want me to use, which is the one you listed, is a 5 pin cable, which doesn't work with the Note 2. In fact the cable works with VERY few phones.
I think i may have found a solution, if it works, i'll post it up so if anyone runs into the same situation they have a place to hopefully get things fingered out.

I thought you had to get a Samsung mhl that connects to the phone
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
The connector they sell is only a 5 pin, which is why their supported android list is very slim, SGS2 and such, the new Samsung phones use a newer 11 pin Micro USB so the MHL cable for the pioneer kit doesnt work, you have to get the adaptor that converts from 5 to 11 pin.
Mine should be here on tuesday. Outside of XDA im still researching and figuring out what works and what doesnt, and the MHL adaptor that pioneer sells absolutely does not work out of the box with our note 2 or the S3.
I have heard some people complain that the phone slows down because of the demand the connection puts on to mimic the phone on the headunit, but the Note has more power than it knows what to do with so that shouldn't be a problem.
Questions and help issues go in Q&A

One source for a not too expensive MHL adapter
FWIW, while I know there are cheap MHL connectors on Ebay, I just bought one at Frys for $25 that had a little adapter for the S3/Note 2. Worked just fine with my TV.

I found that with my Note 2 I had to use the little adapter, which implies that all the pins we need are in a regular 5 pin just not accessible on the Note 2.
Note that the MHL adapter only works if you provide power to it via the microusb port, and one thing that someone mentioned in one of the Youtube videos was that the power requirements of the Note 2 was kinda high. He initially used a garden variety power source, but got bad cutting out, and when I tried mine at home I had the same results when powering from the computers USB port. Switching to the Samsung power source that came with the phone fixed it.
I think the Pioneer car kit linked above would work if we had the little 11>5 pin adapter, and might actually provide enough power, since it looks like it has direct to 12v connections. I'll probably just go to the local electronics parts shop and buy a 12V>2a 5v voltage convertor, or just build one, but if I didnt have the MHL connector already I'd consider the Pioneer one and finding the 11>5 pin adapter.
The nice Samsung computer dock would probably also work, and hold your phone.
Hi Everyone,
Just got a P20, and overlooked the fact that I wouldn't be able to charge and play music in my car at the same time. My car only has aux (no bluetooth). I thought maybe there would be adaptors to allow a headphone jack and charging at the same time. But it looks like this is a iffy subject on most android phones without a headphone jack.
There are a few adaptors on amazon/ebay etc, but with reviews all over the place saying they don't work with most phones. I haven't found one that is confirmed to be working with the Huawei p20. Has anyone tried and have a working one for this phone?
Cheers,
Bryan
i bought this thing : https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00R1AJORM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's a bluetooth receptor you connect to a female jack port in your car .
But it's not powered by the jack so you need a usb port to charge it while you use it.

P20 Pro, yeah. Doing it right now The charge cable is pretty short so you'll either need to use a USB extension cable (I do) or keep the charger close by.

Good point. I don't know enough about my music (I've only been listening to some of it for around 45 years - shame on me!) to tell when the stereo channels have been reversed. I can't recall any tracks actually containing lyrics alluding to which channel is left, and which is right. I'll check a few out on the supplied headphones adapter then one of these adapters, and report back.
***UPDATE*** Yes you're absolutely right. Or should that be left? The stereo channels are reversed with this adapter. As you say, is it really that hard to get the stereo seperation right?
Or maybe something huawei did wrong? I don't know but it's really a big problem for me.
With movies i think too, ex: imagine a car coming to the right and you ear it from the left. It's impossible.
I put a picture of a second set also defective. 2 pack, both inverted.
Envoyé de mon CLT-L29 en utilisant Tapatalk
Finally I find the good ones. Sony ec270. Nice finish, quality looks good. Usbc connector very strong. And the most important: stereo is not inverted.
Cons: the price, around 20€.
Hi guys!
What headphones can you recommend, from your own experience, for a p20 music lover?

If you're going for headphones, I'd definitely go for a BT headphone, with an optional 3.5mm port on the headphones. I recently got a Skullcandy Hesh 3, I find it most pleasant, while it can be used with my PC too on the 3.5mm cable.
apple adapter not working properly
Hello everybody,
I'd like to share my experience. I bought the usb-C to headphone jack adapter from apple (MU7E2ZM/A), from the official spanish Apple store for 10 €, shipping included. I chose this article hoping that the good production quality would make it durable. The cable is a bit thin but it is very well made. The problem is that by connecting it to the P20, it is recognized (I have tried several headphones) and I can listen to music and watch videos, but when I make a traditional call, the audio is automatically moved to the phone, as well as the microphone. For whatsapp and skype calls it works perfectly. So I bought the cheapest adapter that was on ebay (1 euro plus 50 cents of shipping), and it works much better than the apple one. I can make calls normally and the maximum volume is significantly higher than the apple adapter.
moral of the story: the cheaper, the better
The model of the adapter is A2155. P20 model EML-L29. EMUI 9.1.0.387 (but the same problem was there at least from the last three releases.)
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew where to get the OnePlus adaptor from other than their website. They are out of stock and I see what looks to be cheap knockoffs online.
Thanks
I got a google one from best buy yesterday for 9.99 and it works great. Here and now my luck its on sale for 8.99

I bought the oem one on aliexpress for $3

I'm a bit curious about the situation with the USB-C to 3.5mm. Do I need an adaptor with or without an DAC inside the adaptor, and what if there is an DAC inside or not?

Does the Google one have an included DAC like the OnePlus version?

Being a google product I am sure it does or if not better. I tested it and it sounded great in my car, I have an aftermarket system with Amps and a DSP and it sounded better than my OnePlus 6 and I am using VIPER4Android with it too. Well worth it.

Great thanks for the info, I'll probably just swing by and pick that up. Waiting on OnePlus to restock will probably be a while.

There is no DAC inside the phone to output analog audio through the usb-c port. Any adapter you get will need to have one inside like the Google dongle does. If you are curious, check this out.
I personally don't think those little things sound that great and they can't drive sensitive IEMs or power hungry headphones very well from my experience, which is why I suggest products like the FIIO μBTR, BTR1 or 3, or Astell & Kern XB10, EarStudio ES100, so on and so forth. Of course the added expense is only worth it if you're driving good earphones, otherwise the Google dongle is just fine.

Well that would explain why some dongles work and some don't. Thanks for the link, very informative.

You can use either type of adapter. The Oneplus7 Pro does have an audio DAC inside it. I have tried both passive (just past through analog audio) and active (have a DAC built-in) and they both worked with the Pro 7. Some phones (Pixel for example) don't have the capability to pass analog audio out the USB-C jack.

Have you tried charging with a USB pd charger? Since the op7pro supports that at least.
Also wanted to add my old HTC 11 adapter works

Which passive adapter did you try this with to verify that?

The passive adapters were these ADTRIP ones https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NVDT57C/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The active adapter I tried was this Essential Products one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079GZFWQ9/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_jOY3CbK6NJ8RC
For kicks, I tried them both on my Pixel XL (it has a headphone jack, but I thought I would try). Like the Pixel 2 and 3, it only supported an active adapter that has a DAC built-in. The passive ones didn't work with it.
It is nice Oneplus supports analog out the USB-C port as they are cheaper (the one linked above is only $8 for two of them and next day delivery for Prime members).
I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that adtrip has a DAC in it.

Although it is possible, it seems unlikely based on two things. 1. The ADTRIP adapters did not work on my Pixel XL. The Essential adapter did and we know the Essential has a DAC in it. 2. The ADTRIP adapter Amazon page specifically says it does not work with Pixel phones. Pixel phones need an adapter with a DAC built in.
Edit: Scrolling down further in the ADTRIP Amazon page, they have a chart that shows the specifications for each ADTRIP product. These two-pack audio adapters are analog (passive).
Oneplus usb c to 3.5mm is a passive adapter, meaning it uses internal DAC and running audio over usb port as analogue. It works the same way as mini jack output. But what oneplus done is they put small relay that turns OTG automatically when you plug in. All other analogues required going to settings and turning OTG every time you want to listen over headphones. Bare in mind this option turns itself off after 10 minutes of inactivity. I bought this and it's working fine. amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07MBWZZGL?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
This works great for me, and you can charge while listining too.

Only $8.19 with free same day delivery, can't beat that.
