Hi
Do you think that the lg g7 will receive the pie update for the eu ?
Thank you
Makes you wonder, feels like the G7 is abandonware now that the G8 is out. Even security patches are absent. But the answer is simple, no more LG, ever.
But they said that they will makes an update that's right ?

And in Korea they have the update
In Korea they have the update, so I guess they already did their promise. The rest of the world is a small place in LG eyes.

Crap, Some forum say that the update was supposed to happen by the end of april.
We will see but I hope so.
Do you know some bugless and good pie rom for the LG G7 ?
Some of the branded models in eu got a update with April patch only. So likely no pie on his way. I try to hold out this year and I go back to sony or oneplus. I wanted to last for sure 2 years with this phone but not on this way. Some thing still not even fixed. Now even other flag ship support wide angle camera it's easy to leave lg.

Yes, pretty easy but it's actually a good phone...
I can't believe that lg just give up about an update for a high-end 2018 smartphone

They even move the production to Vietnam to reduce cost. That's how bad lg do. The g8 got tripple camera in Korea and dual in europe. Can't name any other brand who works like lg. Who ever upgrade is not aware of the money you trow away because if you want to get rid of it its lower than half price worth. Good device but what a shame

Since the Kernal sources for Pie for EU versions are already out.. It won't take too long to be rolled out as OTA .. May be this week itself..
http://opensource.lge.com/osSch/list?types=ALL&search=LMG710EM
When was it released? ?
Next update should be to the Last May. But what we get whos know. (Last update was in March + 2 months.)

Official response from LG Spain. They say that the update for the LG G710EM will come in June but they are not 100% because it depends on the software update center in Korea. So the real problem is the LG center update in Korea.
Well at least lg is the second last behind htc to update 9.0 after any other company updated there flagships. What I read about other phones that have software issues like oneplus 7 pro I must say I don't even want to trade this phone because the G7 still great for what it is and reliable to me. LG could be the best in the market if they put some effort in it.

Do you guys think LG will be quick to update their device(s) to the new version of android once its out? I have high hopes given their recent record of impressive releases, sort of like a Motorola-esque turn around.
I reckon it will take them 3 months after L is out by Google
LG will not take too long, but Verizon will as usual take months to deliver an OTA of the original and buggy Android L, if ever, while LG and Google have released many improved builds in the interrum which Verizon may never ship.
As evidence, see history, including the fact that so far Verizon has released none of LG's builds of 4.4.2 past v10b it initially shipped with.

They are one of the slowest when it comes to firmware updates.
Their flagship G2 received 4.4.2 in the final days of March 2014. Nexus 5 was released in October 2013. Go ahead and count the months yourself

This is precisely what I was concerned with, while their history isn't to great, neither is any other manufacturers with the exception of Nexus branded and Google Play Edition devices. However, LG seems to have turned a new leaf with their "homerun" G3, the G Watch, and the anticipated G Watch R . Here's to hoping a timely update. I have the bootloader unlocked T-Mo version, but there is limited development at the moment.
Don't hold your breath. And even if LG does get L out quick, don't expect it to look like pure L.
Hope we will get unlocked bootloader by that time

HTC is great with updates, Moto X is too. Hopefully LG realizes that this something that people who buy flagship phones care about
Im thinking 3 months or sooner after android l is finalized for us. Considering we re a flagship phone im hoping sooner.
Eventually it will come but not as fast as the One Plus or nexus devices and i think even the One M8.
But we will see maybe they surprise us i don't know. What i know is LG not that good at the quick updates so far.

This is a BIG mystery and I have combed the various forums around and came to XDA for definitive answers which there appears little. Perhaps because xda is primarily concerned with custom roms, and not incidental stock roms. Personally I thought I would go with the stock rom now, then move to a custom 5.1 rom or later rom when that came out considering how LG seems to be dragging their feet. And to top *that* off it is now April and TMobile has NOT released the update to ALL phones as they have said they would on April 7 on their website.
So what is happening? The various forums are all over the map concerning this. Some are reporting that TMobile representatives are saying that there are problems with the update and that they have *halted* the rollout because of too many problems - and why they were preceding slowly in the first place (I understand that, but I do not understand how it takes three months and not work out all the bugs unless they have just one person working on it part time on the weekends. I'm not a programmer per se and *I* would have been faster). There was one uncomfirmed report of a phone(s) getting too hot.
Clearly the LG G3 page on the TMobile page that says "update available" is incorrect as there is no menu option to do an OTA update in the settings menu, which would indicate that the roll out was halted at some point. So that indicates that there have been problems with the initial update.
Well if that was not bad enough, there is another dreadful post from this forum http://disq.us/8mwajk that has this to say;
O.K. people this is what I was able to find out from T-mobile directly. First the update Lollipop has been release already for the LG G3 (white and black) with some caveats to it.
First the update comes from LG directly instead of Tmobile web servers, tmobile has approve the update and put their flavor on top of the lollipop that LG worked on, but the actual update come from LG servers. So LG is releasing the updates by batches with selected numbers of cell phones at the time ( i am assuming cause they will kill their servers if they do it all at once). Depending of the serial number you have is when you will get the Over The Air update OTA. This can take up to a MONTH yes up to a MONTH for some LG G3 users depending on you serial number, yes its bad cause I am on you same boat I still have not received the update myself so I have to wait for my time (if I am lucky with the lucky serial)or wait up to to a month. Tmobile actually can not do nothing to speed up or put you ahead of the list is the LG that is doing the updates.
Second is that if you really want to have the update to lollipop and you can not just wait any longer cause you will have a heart attack or die for depression. Well you can go to LG site and download a tool for pcs which you can force the update, yes it requires more steps like wiping out your phone and connecting to a PC (not a MAC like myself) but you can have lollipop. Tmobile assure me the LG site lollipop is the same version of lollipop of OTA version so there is nothing to worry about of been a difference version from each site.
Well there it is guys you can either wait, been lucky and get the text to update or go to LG and update it there. Its your choice but pls don't complain about tmobile they are doing their best to help us out if anything it will be LG not tmobile.

I kind of disagree that this is LG's fault because they have had the update ready for the G3 since January and all the phones in Europe got it near that time. Which places the blame squarely at TMobiles feet. They could have plugged into LG's website last January like what they are appearing to do now. Which begs the question what have they been doing for the past three months exactly?
But really, they have an incentive to delay and drag their feet. Because if you really want the "latest" software, you'll need to buy a new phone with that. And the reason why you will not see 5.1 released anytime soon if at all for the G3. If you see 5.1 on the G4 when it is released and not the G3, that will prove my point outright.
Edit: Another possible reason for the three month delay is that TMobile has turned on VoLTE and added Wi-Fi Calling 2.0. They still could have upgraded to lollipop right away in January then rolled these into a 5.1 update when the bugs were worked out. But this contradicts that the software from both places is the same? I wonder how less of a carbon footprint and wasted energy they could have saved if they would have given everyone better battery life with lollipop back in January?
I cannot update mine as well. I am using the black LG G3 which I won from T Mobile's raffle.
When I try to upgrade it, it just says "No upgrade items to fix" or "No upgrade policy"
I do not know what to do with this. I want to update this badly.

This also is what happened with the LG G2. They upgraded white LG G2's after every one else. Which would fit in that they are doing it by "serial number batches." Because that would be only thing different between white and black units.
Unless there is a special magical "white powder" we did not know about!

I would like to congratulate everybody on bothering TMobile customer service so much that they were forced to post this to their LG G3 support page;
The LG G3 will be receiving the long awaited 5.0.1 software update in waves. This means that all devices will be getting the update, but not all at once. Because of this, please be patient if you haven't received the update yet! If you just can't wait any longer, there are instructions to manually download the update via PC in the software update document linked in the title.

Google will be releasing 5.1.1 relatively soon. It will be telling to see how long it takes for TMobile to send that out. I don't see why it could not just be a small "patch" update without updating the whole phone.

..and not making Google Nexus phone for the same reason this year, yes I read that. Dissapointment, what else I can say.
This is something I read from the LG V10 forum:
The netizen asked LG Electronics USA branch online for the answer, and said that they are "preparing to update Android 7.0 for both models." In fact, the US mobile carrier T-Mobile homepage on the V10 will be about to update Android 7.0 soon.
*
However, this happened because LG Electronics' decision was not passed on to the US subsidiary.
*
"Both of these products are technologically optimized for Android 6.0 from the production stage, so we decided to keep software stability at its best," an official at LG Electronics said.
*
In addition, regarding the point that the Android 6.0 version comes out after the G4 release, "I will make the trend considering the future version of the smartphone manufacturing, considering the next version." If there is any part of the new OS that does not fit, I made this decision considering that, "he said.

So LG just builds phones for a particular Android version? Optimize it for that version and leave it? LG V10 was released last year with LG K series.
What if LG takes the same decision for K10? What if they say "LG K10 is technologically optimized for Android 5.1.1 & 6.0 from the production stage, so we decided to keep software stability at its best"?

Well this is sad, very sad. I think in the end they will push nougat to V10. However V10 will have nougat from lineage os or other way. Trouble is with mid range phones I understand why they don't develope new versions for one series because they want to sell future one with new version of android, but what the hell shoul I do with mediatek device how to make custom rom, or worse we can't flash recovery without playing with bootloader and possiblly hard brick device

Maybe they'll get it together. I doubt it, seeming as how they don't have to rely on sales of phones to keep the company in good standings (as long as they make those sweet AMOLED TV's that is). Where does LG say that? They never give a timeline or date prediction that I've seen. Don't trust various sites stating when they predict LG will give Pie.
Also, first ones to get PIE we'll be Korean carrier variants -- yeah, possibly Q1 2019... But everyone else will be months after that. Will be at least Q2 for rest of us, just like Oreo earlier this year.

Just like I said -- by end of 2nd quarter for V30. I KNEW that was the plan! See here:
https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/...dule-for-south-korea-v35-and-v40-are-up-next/
Android 9 Pie started rolling out to the Korean G7 today, but other models will have to wait longer. LG's schedule says the V35 will also get Pie in Q1 2019 (which ends March 31), but the V40, V30, and V30S will have to wait until Q2 2019 (ends on June 30). The G6, V20, and Q8 are expected to receive Pie in Q3, and the Q9 and X5 will get it by the end of the year.

Just like I said -- by end of 2nd quarter for V30. I KNEW that was the plan! See here:

G7, V35 and V40 are soooooo similiar, hardware wise, software probably isnt that different either...
You can use the V40 vendor partition on a G7... (just camera and so will have problems)
How do they manage to get there such delays... I surely wonder what they "engineers" there are doing all day long...

Marketing? Why rush to update the "old" models when you are struggling to sell the new ones.
Or was that a rhetorical question?

probably 1 or 2 engineers and few college interns doing all the update work
It's about time LG should realise that just stamping out new phones with 10 different variants isn't gonna do anything for them. With the G8 coming out soon I doubt the V30 will even be getting any security updates after the pie rollout. No cutting edge hardware is any good if it's running 2 year old software. It's one thing to treat mid tier or budget devices this way but even to your flagships, that's like axing your own foot. With the 90day security update criteria to be in the so called 'android enterprise recommended' program, LG is just doing the bare minimum so that they don't lose a marketing opportunity.

But there is a specific time period (duration) they have to give those updates. "Knowledge workers" classification is 3 years. "Rugged workers" (construction use, etc) is 5 years. V30 is 3 years for updates.

Yeah but V30 was launched in sept'17 and completes it's 3 years sept'20. Since LG takes about an year to rollout the updates(pie released aug'18 and it'll positively be Q3'19 before all V30 variants receive the update) even if the next android version releases in Q3 this year I highly doubt we'll get another software upgrade release within that 3 year time frame.

Yes, Pie will be the last letter upgrade and will start arriving Q2 2019 and continue into Q3 2019. Security updates will continue for at least a full year after that.
However, I was referring to this comment:

Security updates will continue to Q3 2020 and possibly Q2 2021 -- depending on definition of the starting line. Oreo was needed to even be in the Enterprise Recommended program, and we didn't get Oreo and the 90-day updates until Q2 2018.
The V30 will be the first and last LG smart phone I will buy. I'll stick to Google or Samsung next go. But no more LG. Lucky to get one major android update.

I'll take this reasonably priced phone I can actually unlock/root before I ever consider a Samsuck again!
