charging our note 5 pro overnight - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

i have some questions about battery
1 is this bad for battery health if we left it pluged to charge overnight?
2 what % preferred to recharge the battery to get optimum battery life?
3 is this safe to use this device while on charging same time?
Sent from my Redmi Note 5 Pro using Tapatalk

1. Yes it is bad, But if you change your device every 2-3 Yrs. then it won't matter.
2.I prefer to charge my battery upto 70-80%.
3.You should not use your phone while charging because the charging will become slow to reduce heat.

what will happen if i play heavy games. ?
Sent from my Redmi Note 5 Pro using Tapatalk

It's almost 10months since I got my phone.
I don't even bother about charging cycle now . I will plug charger when battery reaches below 20% (sometimes below 10%) and will charge my phone till 100%
I don't overcharge my phone (maximum charging duration is 1:30 hour to 2hours)

[Q] Phone uses 2% battery every 15 minutes

My phone seems to be using 2% battery every 15 minutes on standby, worse when its on.
When I check what is running, it says Android OS 50%...... what can I do? I usually charge my phone three times a day.

I use a variety of apps to check what is going on with my phone.
Watchdog - monitors apps for excessive cpu usage
Cpu spy - see how long your phone stays at each frequency, but more importantly in deep sleep.
Battery monitor widget - monitors battery usage
System tuner pro - get detailed analysis of a recorded system usage.
Also, when in battery usage, I click android os to see how long it has kept your phone awake. Have you made any changes to your phone? Installed a custom ROM?

Also...give it a few days of charge-ups. It really does make a difference.
FWIW, with moderate use, my Droid Charge 4G does about 10-15% every hour. So I don't even think 8%/hr is that bad... :/
no changes to the phone, its all stock. Any benefits moving to a custom ROM on the nexus?
I've had the phone for two weeks, battery has deteriorated. Now charge it three times a day.

You probably never calibrated it properly to begin with. Charge to 100% > unplug > wipe batterystats.bin > let the battery drain completely until the phone powers off. Then charge it continuously over night and in the morning unplug and let the phone drain completely until it powers off.
I am a pretty heavy user as I text literally every 2 minutes all day (girlfriend ) and I manage to get 20-25 hours easily.
I also drain my battery out completely every day for good measure
Charging in between screws up your calibration, try not to charge unless you are below 15%. And do not disconnect it until it is fully charged (98-100%).
Note: I've also noticed wifi saves you a lot more battery juice than being on 3G/4G, so keep your wifi active if you are in range

This is just not accurate for Lithium Ion batteries, which have no cell memory and gain more from frequent shallow charges than deep charges.

Not to mention draining a Li-ion past 5% can shorten the life of the battery.
Further Li-ion's have a lifespan measured in cycles. You get about 500 cycles on a typical Li-ion. A cycle is a drain and charge. If you use 50% of the charge and then recharge to 100% you only use half a cycle. By needlessly draining the battery you are using up limited cycles reducing the life span of the battery.
While I'm sure android's calibration needs to know the upper and lower boundaries of a charge I'm certain it would be smart enough to handle charges when the battery isn't completely drained. Most battery calibrations work this way. Every once in a while you need to charge to 100% drain to 5% and recharge without using to 100%
Wheres battery stats.bin located?

Best way to charge battery

Kinada new to this. But
It is ok to charge the Samsung stock gsm battery at any percentage or should I wait till it low to charge it??
Like if I'm at 30% at night and need full battery for the next day, should I drain it to 10% ish or just let it charge from 30%??
Would it shorten the length of the battery or harm/damage the battery in any way??

Samsung Galaxy Nexus uses Li-Ion battery. So it doesn't matter if u charge it any way u like.

yes it does.. overcharging the battery is not good. it may decrease its capacity. it is always recommended to unplug it when your phone is fully charged
- It is best to keep the battery between 20-80% and never fully discharge it except for the first time just for calibration
- It is preferable to use the pc for charging (slow charging is better)

What you'd stated is true but doesn't the galaxy nexus have its own safety for this where it stops charging and runs off the battery til it drops to ~98-96% and then charges back up ?

Is slow charging really better? In my experience, when charging from AC, the battery lasts longer than when I charged it from my laptop.

No, the charger will stop charging when the battery is full. If it didn't, an explosion would awaken you at night....

I was having this problem when not using the included charger.
It seems that the phone actually requires to be quick charged (8V 2A) up to 65% or so and will then switch to the usual 5V 2A mode when it's reached this point.
As a result when I was using a regular charger (Nexus 7 charger, 5V 2A) the phone would "charge" but would actually slowly lose battery power during the night.
Gotta watch out for specific usb cables or charger adapters that don't provide enough power (as mentioned above).
I have 2 Nexus 7 FHD (2013) tablets and my Zenfone2 has exactly the same charger, 5.2V 1.35A
A standard cellphone charger is 5V and about 700-800mA.

I turned on Airplane mode and power saver while using a regular 5V Charger, and it was able to charge over night.....just not fully.
I thought I was the only one with this issue. Everything works fine with the included charger but when using my charger from my Nexus 4, it would charge a bit then at times start losing battery. I've used a friend's Nexus 5 charger and it has been hit and miss...sometimes it charges all the way sometimes it charges a bit and then starts losing battery.
Im also using ipad 2 charger..works well as a normal charger for zenfone 2. Especially if your gaming and charging same time..mine does not over heat..but dont recommend to do it always
In fact my question was more about who is charging all night their phones and also who is using his phone when the battery is lower than 15%.
Happy to see some others bugs on the ZenFone 2

Is it safe to charge mobile battery from 0% to 100% ??

Hello guys,
whats your opinion about charging Redmi note 5/Pro mobile battery from 0% to 100%, Is it really safe to do ?
As some user reported, charging from 0% to 100% may spoil lifespan of battery..
Whats your charging routine?? When do you guys start charging redmi note 5/pro ?? Share your opinion on charging routine
I usually change my phone about every 3 months so, i never worried about the health of my battery, i always charge from 0 to 100
No trouble full chargin. If u able, better to not discharge below 50%, as all lithium batteries, but influence of this behavior on battery lifespan is not measured.
Personally I feel anxious when see 30% left and charge at this time, but its only my habit

Yes.. thats good habit... I used to charge my mobile from 15% to 100%
for me , i will charge the phone anytime i needed
They say 50% to 80% is optimal for long term battery health.
But, who would do that. Charging from 0 to 100 isn't so bad if your phone lasts 2 days and if you keep the temps low.
I usually put on charge at around 30% sometimes ~40% if I'm going out and need a top up. Even when around 30% I usually average about 8hrs screen time over 24-36hrs, so batty life is good for me. Generally never run battery to empty, try to avoid ever going under 20%.

I usually selled or give it to someone of my family, right now im waiting a few months and i want the mi 8 explorer, but i dont know, is very expensive
I Always Charge My Phone When Battery Below 40% and Disconnect Charger When Battery Between 80% to 92%
100% Charge My Phone one time in 15 day
i charge mine between 20% or 15% upto 100%
not sure about depleting to 0. wasnt that for nicds batteries that had a memory but not lithium or lipos.. but yet again ive seen many articles about lipos not to discharge to 0.
its been a while since i knew about batteries when usw=ed to fly rc helicopters.. more then 10 years ago.
not sure whats new.. i also think fast charge affects battery life.

Just charge however and whenever. Then replace the battery after 1-2 years

its safe but when u do it it resets its log... so better do 20-70
It's best to stay between 30 and 70% but that counts for every phone
It is good to be concerned for your smartphone's heat but don't be too worried about it. What matters most is to enjoy using it and not being anxious for such things. Just try to not let it discharge completely and unplug it before it is fully charged when possible. As someone else said above, you can change the battery with a fresh one in a few years. I doesn't cost much. That's my personal opinion though
Xiaomi recommends to keep atleast 10% of charge all the time to extend battery
Any phone I used, charging no more than 95%, discharging no lower than 25%. In this range, I charge when I want, no rules!

you have rooted or non rooted device?
FOR ***rooted device*** there's various apps for battery calibration simply download any and charge your device 100% than open battery calibration app click calibrate, unplug charger and reboot your device.
after that use your device and drain in upto 0-10% and recharge
FOR ***non rooted device***
just charge your device 0-100% use till 0% and refill and use after two three cycle's [emoji367] calibration done [emoji28]
