Screen Replacement - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Hi All,
Anyone know where I can get a brand new, genuine JDI screen from to replace my current LG rubbish..?
The actual glass is all scratched up now so it wants replacing anyway, but ideally I don't want another LG 'ghost'(screen burn) panel and so I read once upon a time that the JDI variant is fine?
Any info is most welcome!
Cheers!

Same question here.

The screens may present the risk of presenting ghosts, the screen of the manufacturer Japan Display Inc (JDI) has a higher quality by the comments.

I never bought this site, I do not have a partnership, I do not know the quality of them. just asking for who already bought there.
He's the one who says it's jdi.
If you buy there be sure to check with the code if the brand is from the jdi manufacturer.
Deal * # * # 64663 # * # *
1) check version info
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen.
Look at LCM information: if it's lgd, then it's called ghost, otherwise its jdi and np.
Good luck.

LCD replacement help: Which version/serial to buy? (ZE551ML/2GB/16GB)

So i already posted this on reddit but got no replies there so i have come here hoping to find an answer; I am in need of a LCD replacement because of this issue:
http://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=55424&extra=&page=1
i have seen most people recommend aliexpress for it over here and reddit and i just ordered one from the first seller in the list but then i came across this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/how-to-guide-zenfone-2-screen-t3212641
Note the part that says:
Compatible Replacement Part
The original screen has the following code stamped on the back of the display: "TL055VDXP34-00".
The first replacement display assembly (did not work) had the following code: "TLD55VVXP31-00".
The second replacement assembly (did work) had the following code: "TL055VDXP34-00".
And now have cancelled my order becuase of this, and have since found a 31-00 model:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Blac...y-For-Asus-ZenFone-2-ZE551ML/32363936802.html
and a 34-00 model:
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...placement-For-Zenfone/733436_32404124319.html
and really don't know which one to buy
The OP from the post already disassembled his phone and thus already knew which version(34 or 31) to buy, so is there any way of me knowing (without opening, as i don't have adhesive tape etc to assemble it back just yet) as to what will be the correct one for me
Phone was bought from Newegg in August if that info is somwhow relevant too
Anyone? another info to note is that the OPs phone was bought in October and mine in August so maybe that is why he needed the presumably newer 34-00 revision?

Would you RMA this?

I've noticed that my OP3's display isn't uniform when displaying gray backgrounds (Chrome, no tabs and Spotify) and on the quick settings menu:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/picture.php?albumid=13423&pictureid=53599
http://forum.xda-developers.com/picture.php?albumid=13423&pictureid=53600
Is this something worth returning?
If it is present with night mode off and at all brightness. i would RMA it. In fact I already have applied for replacement for similiar issue. Can you tell me the date of manufacture ? Just curious to understand if it was a bad batch or something like that.

Night mode does indeed make it worse. Regardless of brightness, it's always there. Just less noticeable with full brightness. I believe the date was June 21st. How about you?
RMA.
I had a similar issue, sent it back via RMA, got a new device after 8 days. All good now

So perfect uniformity on all brightness levels on gray screens (especially all tabs closed on Chrome)?
Also, did you purchase directly from OP? If so, what option did you choose to get a new device?
Yes, perfect uniformity.
I purchased directly from OP. Clicked "Service Request" in my Oneplus account, chose "Replacement".

Thank you for the information. I think I will opt for a replacement and hope that my current device was just part of a bad batch - others, including yourself seem quite happy with their phone's display.
I have uniformity issues and they are extremely noticeable on grey colors. I read a few posts saying they had issues and the replacement was perfect so I issued an RMA myself. I made a reddit post to get some feedback on the quality of the display on my device.

That requires very little feedback other than that it looks terrible. I hope we receive one each of these illusive phones with no issues.

Replacement Rumours VS What We Know So Far On XDA

This thread will hopefully help anyone expecting a replacement Note 7 and distinguish the facts vs wild media 'grab articles'. Below are some gathered facts regarding replacements so far, including shared replacement experiences worldwide. Please add in your experience and any new facts.
The announcements by the media so far: (feel free to add in or correct this information in the thread, I will update anything that is confirmed)
• Samsung will block your devices from 30th September - (Unconfirmed)
• Samsung will force an OTA through carriers limiting your Note 7 to 60% charge - (Unconfirmed)
• Samsung is issuing refurbished devices - (False)
• Samsung have issued handsets only as a replacement without a box indicating a refurbished unit - (False)
• Samsung is indicating refurbished Note 7 devices (refurbished being recalled stock that is overhauled and reissued as the '2nd batch') via an 'RF' designation in front of the serial number - (False)
• Samsung have a black/blue Square on the replacement device boxes - (True)
• Samsung will have a blue 'S' on the boxes of new batch Note 7 devices - (Unconfirmed)
• Samsung will show a green battery icon via firmware on the new Note 7 batch - (True)
****What has been confirmed?****:
• The new devices have a black/blue square on the box
• Currently affected devices (at least in South Korea) will receive an OTA update to limit the charge capacity to 60% (Samsung have run newspaper ads)
• The serial number can start with 'RF', however, it is not indicative of a refurbished unit, Some of those who ordered directly from Samsung and received the very first units from the original batch had 'RF' beginning serial numbers. It doesn't indicate a refurbished device.
• From Tuesday 20/09/2016, affected devices in the UK will also receive a software update that limits the battery charge to 60% of its full capacity.
• Replacement batteries, some are still SDI, shown via the "batt_type" identification file on the new devices.
• Those who have reported in to XDA have all said that replacements were received in sealed boxes, a new device.
• Some users have been prompted with an error message affecting access to the Secure Folder and S Health. The error encountered on some replacement '2nd batch' Note 7 devices gives the following message:
Alert: Secure Folder cannot be setup because unauthorised software was installed on this device.
&
(S Health) Unable to open app: Your device has been compromised. Because of a new security policy introduced in version 5.0, Knox is not available on compromised devices.
If you're affected, XDA user @violet182 discovered that resetting the firmware using the 'Software update and initialisation setting' via SmartSwitch on a PC/Mac will resolve the issue.
What does this all mean? Well, it points to a frantic media running as many reports as they possibly can, greatly adding to the confusion as anything and everything is being reported without much investigation. Above are facts gathered from our very own community, by sharing first hand experience as Note 7 owners we can stay ahead of the rumour mill.
Firstly well done for this thread
• Samsung is indicating refurbished Note 7 devices (refurbished being recalled stock that is overhauled and reissued as the '2nd batch') via an 'RF' designation in front of the serial number
Explain this then to the idiot's in the media ...
My 1st Note which received on the 30th August 2016 had RF in from of the serial
My replacement which i received 12th September 2016 has RF in front of the serial
So my 1st which I ordered from Samsung UK direct and was in 1st 1000 was a refurbished model ??? say is as I still have it at home
Ok to share my experience for this thread...
Country of Purchase - UK
Phone Supplier - O2
Date original received - 30/08/16
Date Replacement Recieved - 12/09/16
Sticker on replacement box - Small black square
Serial Number Starting Letters (Original) - RF
Serial Number Starting Letters (Replacement) - RF
Manufacture Date of Replacement - 01/09/2016
Country of Manufacture - Vietnam
The whole RF being a refurb is bull how can my device be manufactured on the 1st of the month, be sent out, sold to a customer, returned to Samsung, refurbished, sent back out to the network provider and then sent to me within 11 days!
Received mine today (Canada). Original = 08/31/16, replacement = 09/15/16. Small black square on box, Made in China, serial number opening characters on both original and replacement = R28.
Also just set up Secure Folder and no problems there as I wanted to test that line in OP.
edit: This might be completely unrelated to the exchange program, but my original had the screen protector placed inaccurately, in that the lower half of the top speaker+lens+sensors were covered by it, letting it get some air underneath and struggle to stay on with my case (at the top). The replacement is placed perfectly, and I mean I just grabbed my measuring tape and checked like the huge nerd I am and it is precise, just perfect.

Thanks for this, I'm going to amend the line accordingly. I have noticed with my replacement that the reported expansion gap (present on my first device) is no longer present, no light bleed can be observed either.

How can I see the manufacture dates? I checked on the box there's nothing nor on the little label on the back of the phone, just serial number and model number etc. The dates I gave are for when I received/activated the phones.

From Canada here. Received my replacement phone today. It is sealed in the box but it does not have black or blue dot or sticker. Not sure if I should open it still.
Hey guys I'm curious did you have to return the phone and the box with everything to get the new one or just the phone? Thanks

I find the manufacturing info to be terribly inaccurate. My GS7 clearly states "MADE IN INDONESIA" on the box, but the app says China.
I'm in abu dhabi. Unit manufactured July 30, serial number starts with RF. Waiting for replacement. Is anyone there returned the unit with box incomplete accessories? They accept?

My replacement also shows as unrecognised. I think you're okay to keep the device. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for anymore reports of a replacement in Canada not having a sticker, if another instance occurs I'll update.

How to install 1920x1200 display on 1280x800 tablet?

Hello XDA Forum,
my daughter's tablet screen was cracked. A Chinese web shop offered replacement screen (lcd, digitizer & glass combo) and I ordered giving them correct model of the tablet. Now, I received physically perfectly fitting gear but I won't get any image on the screen. I can see backlight lit for a short while.
I swapped the faulty LCD/digitizer/glass back and could see picture just perfectly. So it seems like resolution issue. I even swapped the new LCD back while tablet was powered up (I know, I know..) and I could see picture in the replacement screen as well! But the image was distorted just like you've seen in CRTs when resolution/refresh don't match the screen capabilities.
Tablets model is Asus ZenPad 10 Z301M-1B006A. This site explains the differences pretty well:
w w w . p d e v i c e . c o m
/comparison/asus-zenpad-10-z301m-vs-asus-zenpad-10-z301mf
Even the GPU is same for 1920*1200 and 1280*800 system.
Actual replacement LCD is NV101WUM-N52 (1920*1200).
It perhaps should have been TV101WXM-NU1 (1280*800).
I saw some web shops giving possibility to select resolution but my Chinese web shop just asked the model. I have perfectly correct model in the order.
The sticker on the replacement panel says ATAB435 and "Asus Z301M Z301MFL" plus some Chinese chars. This suggests the LCD was indeed intended for Z301M/1280*800 tablet.
Now, the question is, could my replacement screen picture problem be due to wrong initial Android bootup resolution setting which I could possibly change with adb thus upgrade the tablet to 1920*1200 reso?
Hope this question made any sense at all.
BR,
Timo

I don't have this device myself but, I did a little digging around...
First of all, I did see that the new display is actually compatible for your device.
If this were me, my next thought would be to go to the following manufacturers website FAQ section...
https://www.asus.com/us/Tablets/ASUS-ZenPad-10-Z301M/HelpDesk_Knowledge/
... and see if I can locate anything that's regarding the Display (ie... LCD, Digitizer, Display, etc...) to see if there was anything that may/might/does apply to your issue.
Personally stating, I can only assume that it may be tied to some type of Calibration or similar.
Just to clarify, if this were me, and nothing worked, I would just double check all the connections. Specifically for connections that may be loose, dirty, disconnected (by accident), etc... because things can happen when putting them together that was overseen/forgotten accidentally.
In addition, I would look at some YouTube videos in replacing the Digitizer Display for the same/similar device. I would do this only as a reference regarding what I did and see if I had overlooked anything.
If all is well and nothing was successful, I would personally feel that this Digitizer was simply defective. I would then look to begin the process of returning/replacing the Digitizer.
If I obtained the same Digitizer part, and the same happened, I would just look into return/exchange that one for the other part.
It's really hard to diagnose many items/issues without having the actual/same device.
I hope that this was helpful in some way and I had explained this okay via text.
I do wish you the best of luck!

First of all, your effort is highly appreciated. Thank you.
Very interesting. What made you think my replacement display combo (LCD: NV101WUM-N52) is compatible with Z301M? All hints I could gather was stating it's compatible for Z301MF* models.
I tried to look for this information but couldn't really find the proof.

This is my study hypothesis as well. First, I was thinking that my problem is just due to the LCD not understanding the signal sent to it by the GPU.
commands like:
Code:
adb shell
wm density DPI (Change display density)
wm size RES (Change display resolution)
might change the startup resolution so that the new LCD can show it and otherwise get initialized properly.
I was just puzzled that Google didn't give any hits of people doing this so I just couldn't believe I'm the 1st one to experience this. This is why decided to ask here.
What I do not know is can ARM or tablet hardware in general negotiate screen refresh/resolution/DPI information via the cable or is it always something which is hard coded in the firmware itself? After all a tablet isn't really a plug and play hot swap equipment, eh?
Only thing avoiding me to test above approach is that the web shop may want to replace my new LCD. Let's see how it boils. Is it broken or is it electrically unfit for the hw/sw model I have?

I hear you. I did this approximately 10 times. Some 5 times I switched back to the cracked 1280*800 and shows the picture fine. Back to NV101WUM-N52 and all I get get is backlight.

I've seen that part number for your device within some other websites like Amazon, eBay and even Asus as a replacement part option.
I've seen this before. Sometimes a new device will have upgrade options when it's first launched.
I've got an Asus Transformer T100TA Tablet where this option was provided for the Digitizer, Memory and a few others.
As a matter of fact... I've got my Asus Tablet still apart with the newer Digitizer Display ready to be put back together. Unfortunately it's been ready to be assembled for approximately a year now (shame on me... LOL! ).

It's actually my first (and only) tablet I've ever owned. It's like a BIG Android... LOL!
I've got a good handful of various Android devices, 3 Laptops and 2 PC Towers (with 3 monitors). This list only includes what's actually working (also less the various parts as well). On top of the various projects I'm involved in bouncing from one to another as well as Life itself.
You can see why reassembling the tablet is actually something I want/need to do, it's just not very high on my priority list at this point in time.
I wish you the best of luck!

One last detail for the record should someone else sometime stumble upon this problem.
Z301M original LCD is KD101N59-42NA-A8 which was later replaced, according to test report 081-170425-200, by TV101WXM-NU1 1280*800.
So be careful when ordering replacement screen for Asus ZenPad 10. There is also some green & yellow connector difference which wasn't involved in this case but I just wanted to mention it here.
