Guide: Auto Call Recording on Galaxy A50 - Samsung Galaxy A50 Guides, News, & Discussion

Call recording is included in One UI but is accessible only through the Dialler settings. Due to this, it may not come to the attention of a lot of users who might expect it to be under the normal Settings app. The following image lists the steps to be undertaken towards enabling call recording on the A50 or in general on any One UI device.

I can't modify any of these settings. I heard that native call recording has been banned by Google over a lawsuit filed by Vodafone. Which firmware do you have?

The screenshots are from my device, so unsure why the option isn't available to you. The calls are recorded and stored under a 'Call' folder at 128 Kbps in 'm4a' format. Presently my phone is running the latest firmware but the screenshots were taken using the previous version. However, the functionality has always been there.
The only thing that comes to mind is that I had done a factory reset after the first update. It is possible that this might have made a difference, but I can't vouch for it.

Got it working now, after the latest software update. All other options are also available. Thanks to your post I came to know that this functionality is native or would have resorted to using third party apps. :good:

yeah coz it's illegal in a lot of places to record calls without permission - that's why most call centers have the canned message "this call may be recorded for quality assurance" - it's so you can decide to hang up if you decide you don't want to be recorded

And even in countries, which has nothing against call records, Samsung decided to exclude call recording from ROM. Why? For me it is as well very interesting question, but I am sure we cannot get any reasonable answer from Samsung

samsung developers have been **** since samsung s1(which i owned). the only reason i bought the A50 is coz amoled screen for cheap. Samsung does not put any resources in development. better root your phone asap and add call recording instead of relying on samsung

You having no access to call recording doesn't mean everyone else also doesn't have. Call recording has nothing to do with Pie, it's more of a CSC thing. Call Recording is only available in certain regions.

In Android 9.0 the Call recording is not available (is there, but greyed out) due to privacy legislation in EU and other countries.

Even in Bangladesh, call recording option in not available in the dialer setting of Galaxy A50. Why is so?

Is there a program for recording calls on the phone samsung A50 European version?

Peace for all I want help on call recording option in Samsung A50 I have updated India for 2 SIM cards and I notice that it only records calls. One card did not work with me in two SIM cards. Is there a solution for the registration to work in 2 SIM cards and thanks

Video Chat??

<del>hmm, good point. According to google galaxy nexus website, video chat is suppose to be doable via "hangouts". but can't find that within google+/messenger. hmm</del>. Bugger can't strike this out!
Just found video within google+. basically, someone on a pc needs to start the hangout out first, and then you "join" them on your mobile phone. you can't start the hangout via mobile by the looks of it.

You cannot initiate a hangout in Google+ from a mobile phone at the moment. You can join an existing hangout that is in progress though.
You can also initiate a one-on-one video call with a contact in Google Talk, as I posted the screenshot above.

If you talk about video chat there a many app you can use. If you talk about 3G video call over your network it will not happen with Vanilla Android. There are some devices have it like GS2 international version and GSM evo 3d. But American phones will never happen unless the networks support it.
That's very incorrect. You can video talk using Google Talk and Google+ on any network type.

I am using an app called Tango since Gingerbread on my Nexus S.
It is nice and works on my Galaxy Nexus with ICS.
It also work with iOS, and desktop PC.
I was able to video chat with my friends who use iPhone and ipad.

You don't know what I mean bro. I mean 3G video call witch is an option you can choose when you make a call. Example if you want to call from your android phone to a nokia n95. In Egypt for example the network support a 3G video call as an option when you make a call. When you dial the number it pops up a small screen asking which service you want to use Voice Call or Video call 3G. If you look at the international SGS2 you will see an option on the dial keypad a small tv with camera. On our SGS2 it shows voice mail. In America there is no support for this service at all, i tried it before and it doesn't work at all with T-Mobile. This a different story than Video Chat.
With Bell in Canada you can pay $5/mo to be able to video call from your mobile number (from Samsung phones that have it build in at least)
I use Tango though because it uses my cell phone number and works with everything but blackberry and video chat.
But tango required tango with the other side. I was looking for any app have to allow me use the service to call any one have diff device than android but nothing.

At$t supported video calls on the Touch Pro and Diamond II, but charged so much for it that it wasn't worth it when you could video chat over data for free.
Although what I've done on tango is muted the built in mic and just called. Video was choppy but workable. Voice was horrible. It kept picking up speaker noise and echoing it back until it was a high pitched tone. It was trying to output what I said then the microphone would pick up the speaker. We just muted Tango and called each other and used speaker phone.
Plus 1 for Android and true multitasking.

Tango is on iOS too.
I'm looking for it too.
My old Galaxy S do it natively, and i'm disapointed that the Galaxy Nexus don't.
Don't know if it's in touchwiz on Galaxy S, but i want it on my SGN !
I am in Australia and the Galaxy S2 does not have Google Talk video calls, which is why you wont see the icon for it on that app.
If you root the gs2 it is a standard addition across all custom roms.
On a side note, the Nexus has cool facewarp features, during a video call press on your face and it will open up the options, they are a lot of fun.
For your iPhone friends, they can download an app called vTok and you can video call them.
(i want to post a screen shot, so if this helps please hit thanks!)
(sorry for my english)
I've tried at work two days ago.
With my Nexus 4.0.2(Vodafone Italy) and Samsung S2 2.3.6 (H3G Italy) via Gtalk and via 3G/HSDPA connection, videocall works flawlessy!

Q

Everyone in the S3 section is awesome and helpful, I found that out last night!
I have another question, hopefully it is an easy one. I just don't know exactly how to go about doing this.
Basically I use a program on the S3, that records everything except call recording. The Rom that is on the phone has a built in call recorder. When the program logs a call for XX minutes or however long whenever I try and listen its all just static. I assume I just need to figure out what I need to delete in the Rom for my program to be able to use it.
I use "Mspy". It has a dashboard via web that records everything on the target phone, except when the Rom interferes with it.
Phone is rooted with stock rom 4.1.2, twrp.
Any help is much appreciated. I'll give a thanks.
The S3 has that problem call recording apps don't work. There is one app but it costs money, there was also a modded hack which allowed for call recording to work. There is information on this in the OP of The People's ROM and there's a thread here somewhere on the modded hack. I am at work so I can't really search to link you right now. Hopefully someone else can help you a little further.

Here's the link to the call recording mod. It works great except for having to manually press the record button on the phone pad to record outgoing calls. Incoming calls can be set to record automatically in the phone app settings.

Well dang that sucks! I'm paying $50/Mo for Myspy. It picks up installed apps, texts, calls, locations, FB, record surroundings whenever I set a command to do so. My program I use does automatically record the calls even though its just static, when I listen to them you can actually hear the phones ringer and the surroundings like a Tv or the radio until they hit answer then it goes all static. I don't care if I have to pay money to record calls, even if there was a app that ran in the background that would put the records in a folder via the internal memory then I could export to my SD card. It's just crazy!

I appreciate the link but I don't think it's going to do me any good with my problem I'm having. I guess I'm just screwed! That is the only thing that I cannot get. Oh and I wish there way a way to tell what websites have been gone too from incognito, or a keylogger (which is against XDA rules) I know.

I have the same situation, paying for mspy app (mspy.com) works great in one phone, but in the Galaxy S3 - works everything (Keylogger, record sourroundings, msgs, call logs) -
But when a call goes in or out (I can hear the sourrroundings) but when the call is answered I can only hear a loud and nasty static..

Thank you for bringing this back to my attention. I have since then moved her phone from the S3 to the Note 2 and it is still an issue. Assuming it would be the same problem on my Note 3. Obviously it is "Mspy" the program itself. I mean, don't get me wrong the program is amazing and does what it says it is supposed to do un other than the fact it is missing one huge implementation which was one of the major factors I purchased this program.

"Mspy" is NOT in the Playstore. Very expensive program you get from the website. Have tried getting in contact with them, I always get a, "we're currently trying to solve this issue" key word "trying". After this length of time, wouldn't they have fixed it by now if they cared?
So, basically unless someone can find a fix, then we're screwed! Thanks for the input guys, I've laid Mspy to rest.

Can you record calls on the HTC 10 - without root?

So HTC got a bad record of not allowing two-way call recording.
On the M7 and M8, even on the One X - You can only hear yourself, and not the other party.
On the M7 I rooted the device and used Skvalex's Call Recorder software.
Now the phone is able to record all calls - even Bluetooth ones.
The question is... Can you record two-way calls on the 10?
Not Bluetooth ones, those won't ever work, as far as I know, without root... but normal two way calls.
Samsung, LG, Sony - they can all record two way without root, on stock.
But for some reason, HTC have (had?) this restriction.
Thank you!
Once the thread gets answered, I will include the answer in this post, at here, the end.
I certainly hope so, it's very important for me to do that. I have a very malicious ex and need it to protect myself from false allegations.
I've got a few call recording apps ready to try when my phone comes on release day, hope this Friday.

I got feedback from a HTC 10 user that the app works without root with the following settings:
Recording method - Standard API

Recording format - WAV or MP3
I don't think that you really need a root to do so. It depends in just one application: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appstar.callrecorder&hl=fr

Call Recorder is worh every cent, I mean the 10 is not a very cheap phone either.
But, you can always try to to find some other free recorder in the Store. I always had to buy the paid version, the free ones always had too many limitations.

This implementation helps me a lot because I use SIMs from 2 different countries and I don't want to press the wrong button. I have many times pressed wrong buttons before.
Not only has Samsung destroyed a feature that makes it easier to make calls, but it also ruined the Audible features that I use all the time, now I wonder what else has been deleted or added that They think is good for the rest of us. I will write to Samsung Report as well..
Any other place this app can be reviewed in other to put pressure in Samsung? Galaxy Store isn't possible..
Hi Everyone - FYI this same issue has been posted on many Samsung Communities threads and unfortunately Samsung has zero plans to fix the Samsung Messages app for SMS. Samsung also has zero plans to fix the dialer on the Samsung Phone app that results User Experience issues, Security Issues, Cost issues and Privacy issues.
Here is the temp solution....Just revert back to Android 10, UI 2.5 and you will get both SIM1 + SIM2 buttons for calls and Messages

Question Questions about Screen Call in Europe

Hi,
I read that Screen Call will be activate (or has been activated) in Europe, and it's great, but it seems the feature appear to some people only. Do you know if it's a rolling release and we just need to wait, or if there is maybe some conditions on it? (for example, I'm in France, and on the operator Free Mobile, who doesn't support currently VoLTE for the Google Pixels (they announce the support for December).
And is the feature notified when available, or should I check regularly in the Phone app settings?
Also, for people who already tried it in France or Germany, or any non-english country, do you know if it works only with the local language, or if it can adapt automatically to the country that is calling me? (sometimes I receive call from UK, I think there could be a better understanding if my phone respond in english instead of french).
I'm in the UK. Yes, my set language is English and not French or German, but I have this kind of error at present. I'm hoping that it clears up as I tried this at the very beginning so on T

uesday afternoon
Working here in the UK. Downloaded the language file, and worked straight away.
Have really wound my son up when he called me just, by experimenting with it.
He got so annoyed he put the phone down on me
Same here with the error, downloaded the language pack and just get:
The update isn't ready yet
Wait a few minutes and try again
As far as I know, it only works in the language of the country where you physically reside. So if you use the new Call Screening in Germany, it will only work in German. At least the interface and the voice will be in German - maybe it can understand English or French or Japanese, but the phone app certainly doesn't tell you that.
Where in settings do you find this please

In the phone app setting, should be under the Assistive heading if you have it, just above Caller ID and spam (I'm on the beta for the phone app).
I don't see it on mine in the UK.

Do you have your phone language set to a compatible language? And only to that?
New Google AI app features (assistant, whatever) tend to break if you have some secondary languages activated that are not supported.
I'm in the UK on EE and I don't have it

Call screen is not available in the "Caller ID and spam" setting.
It should be one settings tier higher up, right above it - under "Assistive".

You checked the language settings and that your phone app is updated to the latest version?

Mh, odd. Would be nice to know if other UK users have the same problem. I know of people in Germany and France who can already use Call Screen, and read about people in Italy and Spain that were able to use it; maybe it's some sort of regional rollout, or maybe it has something to do with the firmware version. Even though that's unlikely, since I still use the old .015 one and it's working for me.
Thanks for the answers, I double-check I had only one language on the phone. So I guess I only need to wait some times for the Call Screen activation... Would be nice to have a small hack to enable it, but I can wait. I guess it's maybe a random rollup, I don't think it's regional as all french smartphone was packaged to add the USB-C earbuds (french law make mandatory to sell these with a phone as a "hands-free kit" for drivers), but all french doesn't have the feature available at this time.
I also tried to see if it appear after using a VPN (with UK, Germany and US location) and clear cache/force shutdown for the phone app, and still nothing. (I know this was working often with firmware update on my previous OnePlus phone)

VPN is not enough to fool Screen Call. You need to spoof your location, language, use an unlocked App version via sideload and even then chances are slim that it's going to work. Back in the days it was possible to sideload some stuff and activate a couple lines code, but then about a year or so Google changed most of the Call Screen stuff server-side, so you as an enduser can't to ****. They either unlock it for you - or you're out of luck.

I figured it out!
If you switch off WIFI, then reboot only connected to 4G/LTE it will appear in the phone app.

Didn't work for me, but I guess this is the kind of feature that would need maybe a reboot after activation to be available...
