Everyone in the S3 section is awesome and helpful, I found that out last night!
I have another question, hopefully it is an easy one. I just don't know exactly how to go about doing this.
Basically I use a program on the S3, that records everything except call recording. The Rom that is on the phone has a built in call recorder. When the program logs a call for XX minutes or however long whenever I try and listen its all just static. I assume I just need to figure out what I need to delete in the Rom for my program to be able to use it.
I use "Mspy". It has a dashboard via web that records everything on the target phone, except when the Rom interferes with it.
Phone is rooted with stock rom 4.1.2, twrp.
Any help is much appreciated. I'll give a thanks.
The S3 has that problem call recording apps don't work. There is one app but it costs money, there was also a modded hack which allowed for call recording to work. There is information on this in the OP of The People's ROM and there's a thread here somewhere on the modded hack. I am at work so I can't really search to link you right now. Hopefully someone else can help you a little further.

Here's the link to the call recording mod. It works great except for having to manually press the record button on the phone pad to record outgoing calls. Incoming calls can be set to record automatically in the phone app settings.

Well dang that sucks! I'm paying $50/Mo for Myspy. It picks up installed apps, texts, calls, locations, FB, record surroundings whenever I set a command to do so. My program I use does automatically record the calls even though its just static, when I listen to them you can actually hear the phones ringer and the surroundings like a Tv or the radio until they hit answer then it goes all static. I don't care if I have to pay money to record calls, even if there was a app that ran in the background that would put the records in a folder via the internal memory then I could export to my SD card. It's just crazy!

I appreciate the link but I don't think it's going to do me any good with my problem I'm having. I guess I'm just screwed! That is the only thing that I cannot get. Oh and I wish there way a way to tell what websites have been gone too from incognito, or a keylogger (which is against XDA rules) I know.
Have you solved this issue? I was looking into Mspy for an international S3, when you thread came up and made me think twice...

I have NOT solved this issue. Not sure if it is the program I use or not.
I have the same situation, paying for mspy app (mspy.com) works great in one phone, but in the Galaxy S3 - works everything (Keylogger, record sourroundings, msgs, call logs) -
But when a call goes in or out (I can hear the sourrroundings) but when the call is answered I can only hear a loud and nasty static..
HOW CAN WE RESOLVE THIS ISSUE??

Thank you for bringing this back to my attention. I have since then moved her phone from the S3 to the Note 2 and it is still an issue. Assuming it would be the same problem on my Note 3. Obviously it is "Mspy" the program itself. I mean, don't get me wrong the program is amazing and does what it says it is supposed to do un other than the fact it is missing one huge implementation which was one of the major factors I purchased this program.

"Mspy" is NOT in the Playstore. Very expensive program you get from the website. Have tried getting in contact with them, I always get a, "we're currently trying to solve this issue" key word "trying". After this length of time, wouldn't they have fixed it by now if they cared?
So, basically unless someone can find a fix, then we're screwed! Thanks for the input guys, I've laid Mspy to rest.

i thought they are still in beta stage?
This app is a must if it's as good as has been made out, all I would then be interested to know would be data usage charges etc.
Thank you for posting this.
Fantastic! Been waiting for this for a long time!

free call and texts
Description
Viber - Be Free to Communicate. Call and text anyone, anywhere.
Viber is an Android* and iPhone application that lets you make free phone calls and send free text messages to other users that have Viber installed. When you use Viber, your phone calls to any other Viber user are free, and the sound quality is much better than a regular call. You can call any Viber user, anywhere in the world, for free and now also text them. All Viber features are 100% FREE and do not require any additional “in application” purchase.
Read our privacy policy here: http://www.viber.com/privacy
******************************************************
WHY USE VIBER VS. OTHER VOIP (VOICE OVER IP) SOLUTIONS
******************************************************
* COMPLETELY FREE AND WITH NO ADS: Viber and all Viber features are absolutely free and do not require any additional “in application” purchase. Once you and your friends install the free Viber application, you can use it to talk and also text as much as you want. Just makes sure all your friends get Viber! All you need is an Internet connection: 3G or Wi-Fi where available. On top of that, Viber doesn’t contain any annoying ads.
* NO INTERNATIONAL CHARGES: It doesn’t matter where you or your friends are, be it on the same network or in a totally different country. You can talk for as much as you want, for free. Just make sure your friends have Viber too.
* NO USERNAMES, PASSWORDS OR REGISTRATION: You know your friend’s phone number, so why bother with yet another username and password? Viber uses your phone number as your “identity” and lets you make free Viber phone calls to any of your friends that have Viber – using THEIR phone number.
* NO NEED TO ADD BUDDIES: Unlike applications like Skype, Windows Live Messenger or Fring where you need to “add buddies” and have them approve you, Viber behaves just like a phone. Just like you don't need to “add” someone in order to call them, you don't need to add your friends in order to call them on Viber. If you know their phone number, then you know their Viber number, and you’re ready to go!
* DON’T KILL YOUR VIBER: To make sure you always get incoming calls/messages notifications, we strongly recommend you to keep Viber running in the background. This doesn't drain your battery or use up memory and improves your Viber experience.
* SOUND QUALITY: Viber uses state of the art technology in order to make sure the sound quality you get is much better than GSM or a regular phone call.
* MUCH MORE COMING: We are hard at work bringing many more features to your Viber phone. More ringtones (and custom ones), wallpapers, location based services and more are all coming soon to Viber!

I also noticed that. And the funny thing is I saw the app in the Market before they've announced it! I'm even the first one to comment.
In the past few months I've been begging Viber to include me in their beta testers but to no avail.
Finally, my friends with iPhone can no longer say anything about my SGS not having those must have apps!
WhatsApp & Viber on my SGS! Sweeet!
no "exit" function (like skype before modded)
Seems a bit buggy at the moment. Big battery drain since installing and was only able to stop it running by stopping in battery use option in phone settings.
Re-started phone but froze on start-up with app running in background. Pulled battery, it restarted this time so i uninstalled it!

I Swyped this on my Galaxy S
So it only allows you to call other Viber users? Pretty pointless if it's the case.
well almost everyone today has an iphone or android device, so its not that pointless !!
besides free calls and texts is good, Although it needs an internet connection. but if you have mates like mine, who talk for freakin' ages, then this is a must !!
will save me money on my bill anyway

Working good on my SGS. Really good idea for an app.
Although I've had one FC and a curious thing.. When I rebooted my SGS, the app thought I've killed it with some kind of task killer.

Well there are gazillions of VoIP apps available... I don't see the advantage of this particular one. Especially since I would have to beg all my friends to install it before I can call them with it.
It also seem a lot less integrated than some others. Do we really need yet an other proprietary, non-standard, VoIP app?
Tanks for the news

Dear All,
Has anyone used Skype on their HOX. What is the quality of the picture on your side and the other partie on the other end. Is the performance smooth or laggy. Please share.
tried it briefly, seemed to work fine and look decent enough. I've hardly used skype on a mobile before so I don't have anything to compare to. I can confirm it functions though!

I haven't used Skype Mobile before as I have a Desire. I will be using it when I get a HOX in May or June when there are more firmware updates.
Thanks again.
My skype is somewhat laggy... Theres a delay when someone writes a message, aswell as it spams me with the "bleep" sound when someone types, when I log in and friends etc has been talking in a conversation.
I found it ok. The other side said the picture was clear and quality was ok, but had a few issues with switching cameras. The person I was talking to went off the main screen and I couldn't get them back.

Here guess install this modified version of Skype . It has additional strings menu that allows full camera rotations so no matter which way I hold my HOX the video that the other pasty sees is the correct way up.

Don't get me wrong, Skype is fantastically stable and works well. The Resize issue is minimal as pictured below as it only really stretches the image a bit.

i think you just double tap the screen to stretch to fit! Double tapping the small video window will swap the video images.
I am getting pretty terrible Skype call quality. REcieving is fine, but the video i send is washed out. Actually all photos/video from the front camera is washed out, so i don't think it is a skype issue.
This is a screenshot from my laptop calling myself via my HTC One X
No problem here, Skype works great on my HTC One X.
no problem with Skype on my phone. i just wish there was a way to turn off the sounds when receiving messages. no lags as i receive messages simultaneously on my laptop and phone at the same time.
does anyone know how to send a file on a group conversation? can't seem to find it on the menu.
I don't find Skype brilliant on my hox to be honest. Dare I say it...but it's a much worse experience than my old iPhone 4. The battery drains very quickly, phone gets very hot and I also have camera issues. It frequently shows my camera as upside down, even though the other person sees me fine. It's not a huge problem, but when aiming the camera it can be a pain ha. On a long call to family this evening twice it made the call sound as though it was ringing despite being mid call. Then the program basically crashed the whole device and only a reboot sorted it.
To be fair, that's the only time it happened and it was during a long call. Oh, and it also told me that my wall charger couldn't charge fast enough when making a video call, so I had to resort to audio only so I could turn the screen off.
One last problem was that my parents frequently said how bad my video looked, when it's never once been said on my old phone.
Well there's a negative post
Are the bars on the sides due to choosing 4:3 camera in the camera app? I used to have 16:9 and don't remember those borders, but I could be wrong.
Oh, and audio was too low despite full volume ha. It's usable though, just not perfect
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Skype works 100% perfectly for me. No lag, no problems switching cameras back and forth, no issues whatsoever with the screen rotation or fit. Its as flawless as on my PC or Mac.
Battery drain and heat are a problem with almost every app on the HOX, so that's not a Skype issue. You have the monkeys at HTC to thank for inferior engineering and programming.
Skype is mostly fine for me, the only problem I have had with it is that I keep getting a notification saying:
New messages in X conversations
Last message: X
Click to collapse
and I find it so annoying because it makes the notification bar look cluttered, and even after tapping it and 'mark all as read' it still shows!
It worked like charm and I did a video call with my friend.

Hello,
As mentioned in my post, i have come up with a solution that should keep noise suppression off while in a call.
Test device
Device: GT-I9100
Android: 4.0.4
Baseband: I9100XXLQ6
Kernel: 3.0.15-I9100XWLPT-CL941023
Build: IMM76D.XWLPT
Mod: None (completely stock)
Instructions
Download app from Link Below
Install app
Open app
Ensure the Sumsung Noise Reduction checkbox is unchecked and summery says "Forced off"!
Make or receive a call to see if noise reduction is indeed off
Report your test to this thread.
Click thanks if it helped you!
Optional Select Upgrade! (After a small donation you will be directed to the download location.)
FAQ
Noise reduction did not appear to be off, why?
Did you get the notification during the call?
YesSomething went wrong, please post device and ROM details in this thread. Thank you.NoPlease ensure your settings are as pictured.

My phone app still had the noise reduction symbol and the menu said it was on, why?
The phone application may still report that noise reduction is on, i can't stop it doing so. The question is, was it really on? And did the person call think it was on? If the person is unsure, while still on the call, try turning it off and see if it make a difference. (It shouldn't) See picture below, it is a screen shot of a call with noise reduction off, but the phone app reporting it is on.

Note: This is Ad supported, donations made here can download the Pro version.

Because there is a known issue that causes echoes when the device is put in certain protective cases. It also occurs when some of the internal components become loose. Switching noise reduction off fixes both and until now, there has been no way to have the noise reduction switched off permanently in stock ROM's, it has to be done for each call.
In short, there are many reasons, these are just a couple.

I am using my S3 in the car along with aux input to car stereo as the speakers. Callers on the other side complain about hearing themselves.
Oddly they never had this issue with Atrix 4G or couple other older phones in the same setup, so there is a good chance its Samsung NR at play...
thanks for the efforts!
I think that would be feedback from your speakers being picked up by the microphone. I don't have a SGSIII at the moment, but if it does have dual microphone noise reduction, then i would have thought that would stop this sort of thing from happening. As it is designed to cut out the background noise.
Give it a try and post your feedback, though my suspicions are that it would actually make this scenario worse.

Sorry mate, it directed me to a site that just said "ERROR: No Download."
Hi, I recently upgraded to GS3 from GS2. I used an app called Sanity to record calls on the S2 and it worked flawlessly, recording the call directly (not recording the mic sound) and capturing the sound of the people on both ends of the call.
I've found, however, that this is not possible on the S3, at least not without some kind of modification. When I attempt to begin recording a call, the Sanity app will not allow the recording to begin. Based on what I've read, this is an intentional limitation built into the phone.
I've taken the initial step of rooting my S3, but I'm not sure what to do next. What's the best way to record calls?
I've heard it's possible with tasker and that there are roms that can do this, but I'm pretty new to all this and don't really new where to start. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

You might wanna get on a PC and search "call recording" inside the "The Peoples ROM" thread, there was some heavy discussion about it not too long ago
Thanks, CNexus. There was some discussion. However, there was a notable lack of answers. I didn't see anyone who said they've found a successful solution. This is quite frustrating.
I don't know enough about phones to investigate this myself. I wouldn't even know where to begin. If anyone has had success doing this, please share. I will have to return the phone, sadly, if call recording does not work.

Thanks! There's a page on the tasker wiki about call recording, but I don't know if it works with the S3. I would like the page, but I can't post links yet because I'm a new user.
I have been using the trial version of InCall Recorder which has worked on my rooted S3 along with the Record feature.
Have asked Dev about saving the recorded messages on the ext. SD card which is stated in the description of the program but I have not been able to find out how to do it. The ability to do this is both in the Trail and Paid version description......just email them today.
Could not record through the Line but did get it through Mic. It was a pain to use the Manual Start to do this but it worked and the paid version has the Auto feature.
When I learn how to get this Record feature to save to that ext SD card, I will buy the program.
Try the Trial and post your results.

InCall Recorder did/does not work on my S3. The last time i got call recording to work on my S3 was in the ICS 4.0 days, was even baked into some ROMS and the stock dialer. Worked beautifully. Nothing else has worked ever since 4.1..
Yes, I've given up at this point. I'm going to buy an external device to record the calls, which seems silly to me since my old phone could do it. Why is functionality going backwards?
Silly question... why do you guys record calls? Business purposes?! Other than that or being a cop and trying to catch someone admitting something I'd personally see no use for it hahaa. Just wondering guys.
I use it to record interviews. I'm a journalist.
It works if you enable the ability to record in feature.xml it's been disabled by Samsung at sprints request. Another one of their dumbass prvacy policies

Here's a thread that talks a bit about it.

You need to edit it in notepad++ from a computer or it will break the longpress symbols on your stock keyboard and some of the features won't fully activate. For some reason it doesn't like being edited on the device itself

This one app in particular does work on any s3 rooted or not. Works with 4.1.1 it is a little crackling but it does work. You can download for free and test it. After a certain amount of time it will limit you to max 1 minute recordings unless you purchase the full app. It's like 10$ but if you really need to record conversations this might work for you.

Trying this right now. So far so good. Thanks.
So HTC got a bad record of not allowing two-way call recording.
On the M7 and M8, even on the One X - You can only hear yourself, and not the other party.
On the M7 I rooted the device and used Skvalex's Call Recorder software.
Now the phone is able to record all calls - even Bluetooth ones.
The question is... Can you record two-way calls on the 10?
Not Bluetooth ones, those won't ever work, as far as I know, without root... but normal two way calls.
Samsung, LG, Sony - they can all record two way without root, on stock.
But for some reason, HTC have (had?) this restriction.
Thank you!
Once the thread gets answered, I will include the answer in this post, at here, the end.
I certainly hope so, it's very important for me to do that. I have a very malicious ex and need it to protect myself from false allegations.
I've got a few call recording apps ready to try when my phone comes on release day, hope this Friday.

Please, do report back once you receive your device and you can test this out.

Awesome!
Could you try "Call Recorder" by skvalex too?
It's not cheap, but you can just uninstall it in 5 minutes and you get back your money instantly.
(Of course, I understand if you don't want to, just curious.)

I got feedback from a HTC 10 user that the app works without root with the following settings:
Recording method - Standard API
Audio source - Voice call uplink + downlink
Recording format - WAV or MP3
I don't think that you really need a root to do so. It depends in just one application: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appstar.callrecorder&hl=fr

Call Recorder is worh every cent, I mean the 10 is not a very cheap phone either.
But, you can always try to to find some other free recorder in the Store. I always had to buy the paid version, the free ones always had too many limitations.
Running rooted, stock Nougat on my unlocked HTC 10

Yeah, thread is a couple of months old. But there is a new question!
Does it work with Oreo?
My phone nagging me with updates, but I really don't want to break call recording functionality...
