Hopefully this is the correct forum to ask. I have a Pixel 3 XL 128GB with the latest update which I hope it has fixed the audio problem, but actually it doesn't. Is there any way to make Pixel sounds good on music and video playing? Currently I connect it to my Harman Kardon Nova via bluetooth stream. Already tested with many equalizer apps and none of them help it. As for comparison, my old Xperia Z5 sounds much more better than the Pixel. Thanks

Same problem with my white Pixel 3xl 128g,
When i play a video in YOUTUBE for example, it sounds deep, and when i pause then play it quickly it changes the quality to normal treble. kind of annoying that i have to pause and play every time i start a video.
I saw a post about this either here, or on Reddit about this and I'll be damned if I can find it! It had a possible resolution. I'll keep ya posted if I find it! The only issue with audio I'm getting is with Bluetooth. Volume being extremely low..

I have experienced no issues with BT audio? I use my P3XL in multiple cars, two bt speakers, headphones, and one tv sound bar. I think it sounds fantastic, even when streaming low bandwidth from Spotify or Pandora. Have no need anymore for flac or even mp3 to be resident on the phone. Does your HKN support HD audio, and is it enabled in bt settings? Specifically, which other bt devices are you using it with? What are your music/video sources? Has it been like this since day one, or did it develop later?

I don't think it's my Harman Kardon Nova's problem. I also tried with Audio Technica ATH DSR7BT which has HD and APTX, it sounds better on my Xperia rather than Pixel 3. This afternoon I'm waiting for Sony WH1000XM3 and let's see how it perfoms with Pixel 3.

Hi,
Anyone that knows at which settings A2DP is operating by default?
Bitpool?
Samplerate?
Where could those settings be altered? "\system\etc\bluetooth"?

I'd be interested in improving A2DP audio quality as well - some tracks really suffer via bluetooth.
It'd be nice if there was a way to play mp3 files directly, rather than having to transcode them to SBC first...

I love the stock music player that came with my galaxy s because of it's ability to play music in 5.1 ch.
However, I have now flashed the latest MIUI to my sgs but the music player is not able to play music in 5.1 ch, so I was wondering if anyone of you guys know an app that can do this?
Thanks
5.1ch is just a sound effect. You can get it on any player app with basic tweaks to the equalizer settings.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Ah, I see. Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve this with an eq?
Sent from my Computer using My Keyboard
With 5.1ch people usually mean that instead of stereo (which is 2 channels, left + right) you have 4 additional channels (Center + Back left + Back Right + LFE or Bass (.1))
Your phone only has one speaker so I'm not sure how you want to achieve this.
The audio output is only capable of sending out stereo as well.
A source file with multi-channel audio is usually in *.vob format (DVD video format) but I know of no player that will show this on Android (except for the Archos Gen8 stock video player).
Audio only files would typically be in *.wav or *.ac3 format but same here, I know of no player that will play these multi-channel streams.
Perhaps I misunderstood your question?

The stock galaxy s music player was able to simulate 5.1 ch (when headphones were plugged in) which provided a very nice boost in sound quality. What I'm looking for is either a port of that music player to MIUI or another music player that is able to do the same thing (or some eq settings that does it would also be fine).

That option is a load of bull XD.When you listen you only have 2 speakers assuming you are using earplugs which makes 2.0 the highest you can achieve. You shouldn't bother about it... just a stupid tweak that imho makes the sound sound worse...
your comment is a load of bull.. no offence here. But the guy is asking for something dont tell him if its bad or not. He likes it other people like it some dont like it you find it bull. But he doesnt comment you on that does he?

All I was saying that the option is stupid and it's fake it doesnt provide 5.1ch surround sound and I thought he was thinking that and I was helping his out of his dream (read his 3rd post... this is the case here..). If this is the case my comment is valuable if this isn't well.. he'll just do nothing with the information... It's a win anyway, he has nothing to lose, playing around with a EQ is way better ;/. The 5.1ch option was not stupid, even though it was fake. It made the sound much clearer and better on all headphones I used.
Will look into voodoo sound, thanks for the tip.
I had 5.1 available when I was using a gingerbread version I got from here. Now I can't seem to find one Pretty sure it was Calkulon or something along those lines. It was way better sound (with headphones) in my opinion, so I'm trying to find a current version that will deliver that "fake" surround

There are some bugs with Jelly Bean... For instance my mic cuts out when I hold the phone to my face and the screen goes off. Bluetooth headset... NOT A CHANCE lol. Hi all, im listen allot to FLAC music, and as you know the built in music app doest support this format, so i downloaded poweramp from google play and the sound was bad, so i search in the app how to improve the sound and i found an option to enable the beats audio,
Open the app, go to settings>audio engine>advanced tweaks> and unselect "direct volume control" and listen again
P.s sorry about my poor english, i really hope you all understand me.

The built in music app in fact does support FLAC since android 4.0
Why would you use Beats if you're a music enthousiast listening to FLACs?
You found the comprehensive eq in PowerAmp I take it? Always been able to get a decent sound tuned to the headphones I'm using. Beats is just a bass boost from the eighties.
Make sure you don't have the eq AND the tone controls (bass and treble) enabled, else they'll conflict. Chose one or other.

Also, the sudden pause/gap when listening to songs is also there; whether the next song starts (crossfading) or you fast-forward a song.
I think PowerAmp has not been optimized for the HTC One X yet. I hope the team is working on it. I love PowerAmp!

FLAC, lossless audio with no drop in quality, used by audiophiles to obtain music in exactly the same sound/quality of the original.
Beats Audio - DSP EQ tuner software to alter the sound of the music, like using a crap DSP effect/EQ on a pc soundcard or ancient 1980's midi system
the 2 don't go together, you may as well use mp3 and save on storage space

I don't think this is quite accurate, and furthermore do not understand the hate for Beats. I am not a fan by any means, but I really dislike it when people bash something because they read it elsewhere or someone else told them about it.
I am not saying that you are that person, Zombiefly
Reminds me of Windows Vista and people's perpetual dislike for the OS strictly from word of mouth when a lot of the bugs were squashed with SP1 (and subsequent SPs) ... but I digress
If some people like it, let them be. It just seems that every time someone expresses a certain preference for Beats or just ask a question about Beats in general, a lot of people jump on the hate bandwagon while not addressing anyone's questions; worse they say they prefer DSP Manager.
The irony here is that NONE OF THAT MATTERS if these so-called 'purists' are using Poweramp with the DVC option ticked on LOL; they're not even using Beats except for the notification icon haha.
Apologies for the rant - again, it has nothing to do with you specifically Zombiefly, just wanted to get that off my chest.

Probably easiest just to create a Moto360 playlist and sync that one.
There is another problem with the Pixel 6 (6 and 6 pro) devices. External USB DACs and dongles do not work properly. USB Host API or the DAC offloading and hand-over are bugged. Apps like Tidal, Neutron, USB audio Player Pro crash or can't play music in high res. The problem has already been reported by some users. There has been no statement from Google yet.
A work around for me to get music playing and stop apps freezing was switching off the toggle for "allow all apps use mic" in system/privacy settings.
But this does not solve the issue, as the apps still can not access the USB Dongles or external DACs directly and by pass android system limitations and software processing.
Google skips the 3.5 port and users are forced to use dongles, etc., which do not even work properly.
Google is going the Apple way by certifying hardware that is compatible with the P6P and P6. Their response will be to buy a certified DAC or wait for a software patch

They are all aware. I've talked to Davy (USB audio Player Pro). They removed the app for pixel 6 and pixel 6 pro from playstore because of the mentioned issues. The problems have nothing to do with their app. E.g. neutron and tidal are also not working properly or freezing. Google needs to fix their USB DAC hand over.

Wow, that sucks. I hope they fix that pronto! Otherwise, I smell a class-action lawsuit (not from me).
Is it app specific and/or USB DAC specific? Because my FiiO BTR3K works fine.
Which app are you using?
Some apps can play music, but most can not bypass Android Software processing.
If you e.g. use tidal in MQA the app connects directly to the DAC and plays in high res.
Same does USB audio Player Pro. Then you see at the bottom "DAC" + bit...
Actually if I get it to play music at all, it's just direct mode, which means nothing.
Some dongles and DACs seem to be working, but just in low/software-processed quality.
So the problem is playing REAL high res, instead of android software compressed/processed audio.
Therefore the USB API seems to be broken. So as soon as the app tries to get direct access to the DAC it freezes or crashes.

Yeah, maybe you can play some processed, low quality music through your high res DAC. So the DAC is pretty useless, you could use a standard dongle with bull**** chip, as it doesn't matter.
I know a little bit what I'm talking about.
I did some audio ports and worked with UltraM8 and the other dudes on the Ainur Audio mods.

Yeah I don't even use it wired anyway. I just wanted a very good Bluetooth DAC. For me it's the best of both, using my wired headphones yet not tethered to the device it's connected to.

As far as I know, Amazon app is still limited to phones native sampling rate and does not bypass Android limitations (android mixer). So it does not make use of the external DAC directly. Different story again. But please correct me, if I'm wrong.
But at least it's one DAC that plays some music.

I just read through the conversation and it just baffles me. So the "official" Pixel support forum is run by volunteers who basically tell you "if you have a problem, don't bother us, we just give you pre-prepared text-blocks - if they can't help you, we're out" - if you want "real" support, go and use "feedback form" - meaning you write a wall of text to an known person, won't get any sort of answer or input and have to pray that Google will care?
Uff.
I mean, as a Pixel user you can always try the
-> Settings
-> Tips & Support
-> Contact us
form, that way you can at least write to a person/talk to a human, even though they will most likely also just form a "feedback form" after your conversation, since they are powerless Tier I tech people.
I hope that Google can fix those problems here, so you guys can have fun with your device. Google certainly doesn't deserve the "our phone just works" - status, if they forget to add basic compatibility to common third party hardware.
