YouTube TV app crashing after factory reset - Moto Z2 Force Questions & Answers

My mom gave me her old phone: Moto Z2 Force (Tmobile), Android 8.0, Jan 1 2019 security patch.
Previously, YouTube TV worked flawlessly on her device. After doing a factory reset and adding my Google account I installed YTTV and tried to watch a channel; the app immediately force quit.
If I try to watch a live channel or a saved recording, it crashes saying "YouTube TV has stopped". If I try watching a Video-On-Demand show, the "Title card" will appear (show name, rating, episode #, etc) but the video will not stream. The error message is, "There was a problem while playing (Playback ID: dDfPb1oGisADoNnz)".
I've tried both Wifi and LTE data, I've tried installing older versions of the app from ApkMirror, I even factory reset the phone again and re-added my mom's Google account... but the app keeps crashing as soon as it tries loading a video.
Does anyone have an idea why this happens? I've been using YTTV over a year on many devices (Android, iOS, LG TV) with zero issues until now. Thanks.
Edit: When I first tried the older APK, I chose one from January of this year. It didn't help. But then I thought to try the APK from June of 2018, when I first subscribed to YTTV. And it works... mostly. A few channels don't come in, but the app doesn't crash anymore.
I'm considering doing a full device restore, with the files provided in here. I can't think of anything else to try at this point.

Request: NetFlix apk for FireTV released before August 10th 2015

Netflix pushed a build on 10th Aug, 2015 and whatever they did, it's messed up VPN via Smart DNS servers on the FireTV via CactusVPN, the version before that did not have this problem. I've googled everywhere, can't seem to find the build released before it anywhere. Anybody got the apk anywhere? Want to try with the old build before switching to another vpn provider. Cactus insist the issue is not on their end, despite the fact that if I switch to another provider unblock.us for example, it works instantly.

What makes you think there is an update apk? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OGRMULA/ shows October 15, 2014 and my FireTV is showing the same unupdated version loaded on it.
I assumed it was updated based on the UI Build value: release-20150810_54-sapphire (I interpreted this to mean the date it was pushed was 2015-08-10 / August 10th), see attached screenshot. Or is that value meaningless? I've no idea here, just a shot in the dark.

That might be some HTML UI coming from the server... but the apk hasn't been updated.
Hmmm. Guess I was wrong, assumed it was some kind of silent patch that updated the file. Well, something's changed, all of us that use Netflix on the AFTVs have been experiencing issues galore since around Aug 11th. Most of the time video's will load and get stuck at 25%, once in a while it'll struggle then eventually play. Strangely enough, it works fine on the Fire Stick just not the FTV. Switching dns servers fixes it instantly, so I thought somehow the unblock.us guys had figured out whatever Netflix had done and updated their servers, as I had assumed it was a patched apk. Tried it all, Clear Cache, Clear Data, Clear Cache for Amazon Instant Video, Changing timezones, De-activate Device button combination etc, nothing has worked so far.
I"m stumped, might be forced to change vpn providers, CactusVPN insist there is no issue on their end, despite the fact that 4 of us with FTVs are all having this issue, and switching dns providers fixes it instantly.
Got the "stuck at 25%" problem 2 and netflix keeps on caching all the time 2 since a couple of days.
Using which dns provider? CactusVpn?
To clear the 25 percent issue. Go to Settings, the Apps then Manage Apps, go down to Amazon Video (Might be Instant Video depending on your version) it has a green amazon icon. Well go into that and click Clear Data various times. I recommend to Clear Data then wait like a minute then again. Once the app shows 0mb for data unplug the Fire TV, don't restart it, unplug it for like 20 secs and replug, then go to Netflix and that 25 percent error will clear. It will eventually come back though every 2 months.

why does my netflix looks scrambled? rooted ftv 5.0.4

on my rooted ftv 5.0.4, netflix menu/selection it looks almost like scrambled...shows play fine but its hard to pick anything... i tried deleting the cache/data/reinstalling/rebooting/ and nothing.. even installing the latest apk from google and nothing
any ideas?
I have the same issue with the Netflix menus on FireTV 2 rooted 5.0.5. Repeating patterns of bitmap graphic segments and portions of photos are scrambled over the program selection menus as well as the progress bar overlay during pause and fast forward. Video playback is fine, so I gave up after spending a couple hours trying various methods to fix it. For me, this issue seemed to happen independently of any Amazon OS or Netflix updates. The same Netflix version previously worked fine on both 5.0.4 and 5.0.5.
Repair methods attempted:
Cleared data and cache - same result
Uninstalled and reinstalled latest FireTV version of Netflix - same result
Installed older as well as newer versions of Netflix for AndroidTV - same result; every version appeared exactly identical to the FireTV version
Installed Android phone version of Netflix - works properly, but is awkward to use and seems to use a completely seperate set of files from the TV version
i havent tried netflix for full android but i tried everything u did too and we are on the same boat...
here is a link for more individuals having same issue...

either update to newer OS or install older Netflix.apk (though it will autoupdate?!)
I have the same problem-- scrambled menu on Netflix. It's the only streaming service that scrambles (and it only does it on TV, not on my phone or laptop). Furthermore, it began when I had Time-Warner/Spectrum, but this month I switched to Verizon/Fios and it is still scrambling. Netflix is the only constant here, so it has to be a Netflix problem. I've tried all the solutions mentioned above, and it still scrambles-- usually the menu, but sometimes also the show I start playing. When I called Netflix, the asked me -- get this!-- to list the channels it happens to. My reply was to ask them if they knew how much work that would involve-- they have hundreds if not thousands of programs-- and that, furthermore, I wouldn't do that if they paid me. I'm a customer, not tech support. (Sorry not to be of any help in solving the problem; just adding to the chorus.)

New 5.2.6.0 update blocks all free app content on my Fire TV

The new 5.2.6.0 update was pushed out to my FireTV on Saturday morning and I've been unable to run YouTube, PBS, NBC, and Amazon Prime programming since then. All my paid apps are running fine so far - Hulu, Netflix, HBO Now - but when I try to load anything from the free apps, I get kicked back a screen or two and nothing loads.
I have one of the original Fire TV boxes as I bought it in April 2014 and it's worked great since I bought it. I was on the phone for over an hour yesterday trying to get some help from their techs but nothing worked including a complete factory reset. Something in this update is blocking access to my free apps programming.
I understand that I'm supposed to be seeing more advertising but that's missing too. I was told at the end of my tech support conversation to buy another box because the warranty has obviously run out, but of course, they stopped selling the boxes several weeks ago and I'm stuck with a box that only works for half of what we used to watch.
Any suggestions for my next step? TIA!

I'm not from the US, but I'm pretty this is sounding like some sort of cache bug.
Try going to each individual app in settings and clearing cache and data; if this doesn't solve it, then I would remove the app and reinstall it.
If this doesn't work, I'd try deregistering your Amazon account in settings with the applications stated removed; then registering again, this may refresh the app store's data.
Lastly, try a factory reset of the Fire TV; this is a last resort.
Ok so i have same issues the main one being allcast i cannot stream to tv from phone or kindle hd the firestick just tells me to install allcast on firestick... i have also factory reset and still the same issues telling me to install the app... tryed on my old firestick not updated to 5.2.6.0 and all app are working fine
Uk user
Um. For those of you with the app store problems, does syncing your Amazon account fix this?
This is if you cannot download applications
Go to: Settings > My Account > Sync Amazon Content
What if you install the app from the browser interface on your laptop.

Try to install it remotely from the Amazon site, and choose to deliver it to the Fire stick you want. If it doesn't try to sync your account.
I doubt the application being installed is at issue, I believe there is some sort of configuration issue for you with the app. I don't use AllCast, so I can't help you there
This application has stopped working since the 21st September on newer released firmwares, the application developer will need to fix the issue with newer firmwares for AllCast.
This could be correlated with the issues others have; I doubt there has been major API changes.
Ok thanks i appreciate the reply regarding allcast app guess i just have to wait for an update and try it again..
:good:

I did all of this during my phone conversation with tech support, plus I had removed and reinstalled those apps prior to calling in with my problem. We did the deregistering/reregistering my account and then we did a full factory reset, which also didn't work. Is it possible that I have a corrupt install of this update? And could tech support remove the new version and knock it back to the previous one?
Interesting questions. I've had YouTube freezing after a few minutes, since the update. I'll do a clear cache/data as see if that resolves it. If not a new YT install.
I spoke with tech support last night because I reported this issue to them about 10 days ago and I wanted an update. The guy told me there was a master ticket in the system regarding this issue. It sounds like the new update triggered an hdcp error in certain apps. Like the OP, all my payed apps work but non of my amazon or free apps.

I ended up buying a 2nd generation unit from Best Buy that arrived today and is working just fine. Good luck with yours - I hope they get it fixed for you.

Busted

A year after they announced Netflix would no longer work on rooted devices it finally stopped working on my N7 this morning halfway through watching a programme. I'd been updating the app as usual through the Play Store, but it has now gone invisible. The app just stuttered to a halt and now won't let me log in.
Looks like the old iPad is gonna have to be put to use for Netflix now!
i been using Netflix on rooted and unlock bootloader (all my devices are) and haven't had any problems with stream/playback on any of my devices.,
The only issue is i have to sideload the latest release (apk from apkmirror) , but nothing mayor
I had to jump through a few hoops, but I got it working again. Renamed liboemcrypto.so and rebooted. Still didn't let me log in. Force closed app, cleared app data, reset password, cleared Dalvik and then rebooted again. One of those worked, so I got to log back in after doing them. Yay!
Spoke too soon. Whilst the app opens and I can log into it now and download stuff, nothing will play!

apps won't sync anymore - Moto360 Gen 1

I'm having trouble with my gen 1 moto 360, battery was dead for almost 6 month ago, got a new battery, installed it and everything seems to be working fine EXCEPT I wasn't able to find Facer or Watchmaker and Watchmaster, I did a factory reset, nothing seems to be happening, most of the old apps gets synced after the reset except these 3 apps, installed the apps and reinstalled, installed wear os again after clearing the data, permissions all granted, nothing happened I said okay let try resync all apps,, nothing is working, then I said I will install a new app or a new face, nothing appears on the watch, I've read on some forums that this is due to the old version of google play services on the watch and that it's not compatible with the new on (I have a Poco F1 - MIUI 11).
I'm tired and I don't know what to do anymore, could some one please help or at least confirms these allegations that the syncing is down the drain.
Sideload the latest play services through adb onto the watch. You can grab the apk from https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services-android-wear/.
hi
first you need to cumputer and softwares (connectify + VPN ) for share Vpn Wifi (for mobile + watch )
just have sync app and watch faces with Wifi Vpn
