f2fs!? - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

Sorry but I don't understand the situation in supporting this kind of formatting.
Which rom , kernel and magisk supported? And where ?

P2 supports and uses F2FS even in stock. The thing is that Lenovo (Moto) has older and buggy implementation of it which prevents you from using Magisk modules properly. Read about it here (This module is a temporary solution because your modules will disappear every reboot).
Probably every custom ROM posted on forums are using kernels with stock version of it. You can fix it using kernel which I compiled with necessary commit posted here which is working on LOS 15.1 and other treble ROMs or just wait for LOS 16 where the fix will be applied in official builds. You can also download LOS 16 testing build from 15.1 thread (latest pages) if you want.

I mean if that there are custom ROMs with working f2fs without any workaround ?

The current LOS 16.0 test build has F2FS working fine without the need to use any workaround to install modules.

I am not sure if there is a kernel that does support it but take a look at Gamma Kernel https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/kernel-gamma-kernel-d855-d851-t3435940
And the CrazySuperKernel https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/kernel-crazysuperkernel-v1-t3521121
These MAY or MAY NOT have support, I have used both of these kernels in the fast and they are stable!
If you are unable to find a kernel with exfat I can compile you a lineage kernel with exfat support. It takes all of 5 minutes to do since I already have the dev tree. If you need it, let me know your variant and I'll whip one up.

that would be really helpful , its for the 855 .
For some reason I was thinking exfat was already part of the kernel tree and it just needed enabling. That's not the case. There is an app on the app store called paragon that may work for you. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.mounter&hl=en
a quick question, do your D855 charge normally with any Nougat CM/LOS based ROM?
mine dont. i've tried many Nougat roms, many kernels and the only way to charge is in dev options force the usb to "charge only" but then it's limited to 500ma
EDIT: if the phone is off it charges normally and/or if i went back to android 6 stock/aosp it charges normally too, so i think the hardware is good.

[Kernel][LOS/CAF][M/N] Linux 3.10 custom kernel v3

Linux 3.10-based kernel for Oneplus One (bacon)
Info:
use this kernel at your own risk. Flashing it the wrong way might brick your device. I'm not responsible for any software/hardware damage.
This kernel is based on top of erorcun's 3.10 kernel. erorcun has spent an enormous time working on this project and he deserves a huge "Thank you" for having succeeded in one of the most difficult tasks in Android development: upgrading a device to a newer Linux release.
Features:
v3 (12th December)
built with O3 optimizations
CAF CPU boosting driver (replaces cpu_input_boost - might be a temporary switch)
kernel code base updated to Linux 3.10.60
sdcardfs updates
minor miscellaneous improvements
old releases:
v2.1
minor stability fix
v2 (12th November)
kernel code base updates reverted, then re-applied only up to 3.10.54
compiled with an improved set of GCC flags
tuned AIO for SSD-only machines
v1 (30th October)
built with GCC 5, UBER Toolchain and the optimal compiler flags for Krait CPUs
kernel code base upgraded to Linux 3.10.88
power-efficient workqueues
sound control by francisconfranco
CPU voltage control
cpu_input_boost by Sultanxda
sdcardfs & f2fs support
support for both LineageOS's and Sultan's camera HALs
Compatibility
The kernel is compatible with all the Marshmallow/Nougat ROMs that use either LineageOS's camera HAL or Sultan's (a.k.a. CAF's). Just make sure you download the right version
Currently, the kernel has been tested only on LineageOS 14.1, but I'm sure the CAF build is safe to flash and works properly as well.
The kernel doesn't work on Oreo (yet)!
Download
The kernel can be download from AFH: 3.10 kernel on AndroidFileHost
Thanks to:
erorcun, franciscofranco, Sultanxda, CAF & UBER, Mecca EL.

It's one of the things I'll work on soon. Be patient, and you'll eventually get what you want
Thank you for this.
Don't know if it's your Lineage rom or this kernel, but video that i record is really stuttery. Like very janky.
I recorded the video with the build-in snap camera.

Happens with all resolutions. I already tested Sultans Lineage as well with this kernel and the same thing happens. Don't know if it tries to record it too fast as it seems to be too quick and stutters a lot.
The Los kernel seems to work fine with video recording altough i just dirty flashed it on top of Boefflas kernel.
E:It definetly is the kernel that is causing the stutter.

I'll compare the camera driver present in this kernel and the one in Sultan's kernel, then try to fix this. Unfortunately at the moment this is the best thing we can achieve, CAF camera support had always got some small problems even in erorcun's build if I recall correctly, and these problems are inevitably "inherited" by my kernel.
Thank you for working on this, I was looking forward to release since I saw your announcement in erorcun's thread.
Firstly i tried to dirty flash kernel on top of LineageOS build (N) by idprophecy, since i got positive experience changing kernels (3.4 ones) this way even with encrypted phone. So when i tried to boot up with new kernel, unfortunately it did not work and phone says my password is correct but encryption partition is broken and i need to hard reset.
I went to clean install, removed encryption and flash same LinOS build + your kernel. Then i encrypted phone again and everything went fine. However now my TWRP refuses password for decrypting partitions (its was like that in early N development for bacon on many roms).
Overall perfomance is not really smooth comparing with 3.4 kernels, but i didnt bothered to play with kernel setting.
Also i cant get MTP working, phone only charging via usb and PC (Windows) cannot see its memory.
I know this report is probably useless without kmsg logs, but i didnt have time to pull them off, so sorry about that. I try do it later

Definitely would need a log, to see what the issue is, with your experiences.
I've been alpha and beta testing this kernel, and I'm not experiencing any of the problems you and other users are describing. Clean install @idprophecy LOS14.1, flash this kernel, reboot back to recovery and flash MagiskSU, enjoy an ultra responsive OPO.

I faced the same MTP problem when I started developing this kernel several months ago. But I'm sure it appeared at a later stage of development. So MTP shouldn't be an issue as of now. Also, according to @Mecca EL, there should be a substantial performance improvement.

I've not set encryption. I've seen way too many problems with that across almost all android devices. I'll see if it's not too much trouble to set and test for you, if I'm able to revert to unencrypted easily.

Well i am using encryption since early MM and not a single problem if developer of rom and kernel did his work fine. Biggest payoff its hit battery.
Unfortunately you cant revert encryption without formating whole internal storage, so its a little bit complicated with backups and etc

Your kernel is for:
Miui?
Custom Rom?
Has it
KCal support?
ExFat/NTFS support? @travis82
telegram group link please?
What additional features do you provide? Apart from May security patches, of course. I don't see many commits from the base, but still I'm currently too lazy to browse and understand the diff

Whats the tested MIUI version?
it works with Xiaomi.Eu 9.5 stable?
Can't boot after flashing kernel#2, booting only to twrp.
(all methods tried, reboot system in twrp, power off & on).
Kernel#1 didn't try today.
Miui.eu stable 9.5.8.0 NCHCNFA. @travis82
Added anykernel install so you MIUI and AOSP users can use the same kernel.
Installed the anykernel version, but I can't get that high mem score (roughly the same as stock). This is on MIUI EU dev 8.4.26. And oh, at the end of installation I get "unable to unmount" error but I think that's fine.

1. Wipe cache/system/data (NOT internal data)
2. Flash the rom

When you are decrypted, in the doubt, always flash the no-verity file is recommanded. At least you don't risk forced encryption because of a rom. (compatible with both encrypted/decrypted or don't has include by default the non encryption)
So i flash always the no-verity v3 xXx (compatible Treble and more structure)
I would never understand this encrypted /decrypted thing. I have fp and lock screen pin so I ' m encrypted right? But when I can flash ROM without formating data? when ROM by itself supports it?

Encryption has nothing to do with lock screen PIN or password. I am on a decrypted device and I also have lock screen password enabled. Encryption does encrypt all the data on your device. PIN or password does only lock the device.
I have been using your rom for 3 days now. I just replaced the camera with "open camera", which in my opinion is better and the launcher. I install GApps mini.
Everything works as it should and even better (!).
I fully charged in the morning, used the phone for internet, videos, 3-4 calls, sms (about 10) and now (9 in the evening), the battery shows 63%!!! (I use "Naptime", but not Franco's kernel - what do you think about the latter?).
As far as encryprtion goes, although I flashed the no-verity file, I use the "blu-spark" TWRP. I had problems with others, despite the no-verity file. Maybe it is just me; if not, you should recommend it.
Thanks for a great rom. Truly amazing!!!

I said how pleased I am with the ROM. You did not respond to my question: what do you think about thr Franco kernel with this ROM? It will be useful or most features are already implemented?
Something else. You stated the ROM has Krieg kernel. One their site, the one you send us to, they imply that many kernel parameters can be adjusted.
1) Where is that possibility in the ROM?
2) Can the kernel be updated from their site without any ill effects you think?

For Franco Kernel... Try it out yourself. I never was a big fan of his kernels myself. But as of today there isn't much of a difference between most custom kernels.
To adjust kernel parameters, use an app like EX Kernel Manager or Kernel Adiutor. You can update Krieg kernel independent of the ROM.

Introduction
This ROM was created for personal use. It was compiled from last sources with some personal changes and bug fixes. It's based on Lord Boeffla's kernel for LineageOS 15.1 ROM with all Kali NetHunter features included. Unfortunately Lord Boeffla stopped developing for Android so it's possibly the last available kernel from him. This ROM was tested on OnePlus 3T LineageOS 15.1 clean installed ROM with NanoDroid microG and MagiskSU.

Launch Android Terminal & give it root privileges.
Run 'apt update && apt dist-upgrade -y' command to get the latest updates.
Launch other apps to set them up.
Special installation instructions
There are some "issues" I've discovered during the compiling and installation. I don't know if they are general or just specific one and depends on using NanoDroid microG and MagiskSU. But as it is.
1. All apps removes from /data/app/ after ROM installation complete and I have to manually install them to make everything works. So I've attached all apps in the Download section if anybody will face the same issue.
P.S. This issue was fixed in last commits from kali-nethunter git. So I've recompiled it from sources and added to nethunter installer. But haven't tested.
2. After the first clean installation of NetHunter with built in kernel Boeffla Config App can't sometimes to initialize the kernel. In this case you should boot to TWRP recovery and flash standalone kernel's zip. After that everything should work's great.

No. I was searching a lot of time for custom firmware with monitor mode and packet injection support for QCA6174 model but there is nothing at the moment. So you should use external adapters from recommendation list in official Kali wiki.

I was thinking about 3 model in the beginning of developing but the thing is I can't publish untested roms. And I don't have a OnePlus 3 model to test everything by myself. But if you want I can compile it just for you. But I can't give you any guarantees.

Take a look to ZaneZam's threads. I'm sure he's already made some builds. I've been using his kernels earlier and they were really great.

I was thinking about 3 model in the beginning of developing but the thing is I can't publish untested roms. And I don't have a OnePlus 3 model to test everything by myself. But if you want I can compile it just for you. But I can't give you any guarantees.

I would gladly be the tester if you don't mind the additional work.
We could talk this over Pm or another messaging app if you prefer.
Also congrats to the the successful implementation of your work in the Nethunter repository!

No. I was searching a lot of time for custom firmware with monitor mode and packet injection support for QCA6174 model but there is nothing at the moment. So you should use external adapters from recommendation list in official Kali wiki.
