Does a 64GB Version Exist?? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay so my tablet has been running pretty ****ty as of late. Battery draining very fast, charging being very slow, locking up from time to time, and overall sluggishness.
So I just went looking around see what replacement parts there were out there. And I found one site that sells Tab S Motherboards, now I have no clue whatsoever if a replacement mother board would even fix my problems, and honestly I don't plan on getting it.
I'm just curious as when selecting the ram, it not only had motherboards with 16gb and 32gb's, but also a motherboard with 64gb's of ram.
But I've looked around and I can't find anything about a 64gb version of the Tab S. Was it exclusive to another country? Does it exist at all? I'm just all kinds of confused right now.

As far as i know, 32GB was the largest and only sold by BestBuy in the US.
You can always use an micro-sd card, I use an 256GB on my T800, There is supposedly a hack too turn internal and external storage memory into all internal storage.
John.

I have been shopping for Tab S parts long time ago and I was surprised how ridiculously expensive these parts can be on ebay. I mean, about 18 months ago, I needed a new mainboard (didn't care how much storage), and the prices were in the neighborhood of 130-200dollars for one with no real guarantee that it works. Eventually by some luck I run into some person who was selling a working 32GB T800 tablet with a cracked screen for something like 120 bucks on ebay. I decided to buy that tablet for spare parts, like battery or mainboard. That's still too expensive for such an old tablet, but what can we do? The Android tablet market has literally gone to ****. Brand new 2018 or 2019 models suck big time and cost like they were an iPad or and iPad pro.

UK Phones with 16GB Storage

Thus far after much research it's looking like, for the UK at least, only the following phones will have 16GB of storage;
HTC Surround
LG Optimus 7
LG Optimus 7Q
All the others seem to have 8GB.
Bearing in mind I currently have an HD2 with a 16GB SD card in it, I was hoping that "upgrading" to WP7 would bring a jump in storage to at least 32GB. Now it looks like remaining at 16GB is the best I can hope for, and moving over to the HD7 would result in a halving of storage back to 8GB.
Anyway, the above 3 phones at least seem to offer the same storage as I currently have.
I'm guessing most of the phones only have 8GB so they can provide an upgrade path in 12 months time to 16 or 32, so that we can spend more money on buying yet another phone.
Bearing in mind I have 60GB of music and 20GB of photos, I'm a bit peeved. Especially as the iPhone seems to have up to 64GB.
I thought O2 were bumping up the HD7 to 16GB? At least that's what they have it listed as in their 'Coming soon' section and their press blog!
the hd7 in uk will have 16gh, some omnia 7's may do. I don't think the uk is getting the surround. I am hoping that the trophy has been hiding the fact it has sd cards as they are selling them on there website for that phone.
There have been a number of indicators recently that the HD7 has a microsd slot, so even a device with 8GB should be upgradable to 16 or 32GB. Jolly good.

I am hoping that this is true as even though I have never used up an 8gig SD card, the games on WP7 will most likely be bigger than the games on Android.
To be honest I am struggling with there thinking that 8 GB memory is enough.
This phone is supposed to be for gaming, music, video, photos and office Documents. not to mention if you record in 720P the phone will be full in no time.
Yep, the HTC HD7 has 16GB memory. Just been confirmed by O2.
http://shop.o2.co.uk/mobile_phone/HTC/HD7
and an official price tag of £380.00...not that bad. I wonder what I can get for my HD2...

Finally some adequate price. Hope we will see soon a good offers for other models as well.
I think I will hold off in buying HD7. I believe HTC will eventually raise the specs(hoping!wishing!) including the SD card slot. Might use my trusty HD2, which basically is HD7 with WM6.5 OS.
Omnia 7 16Gb
Samsung's site ( omnia7.samsungmobile.com ) state there's a 16Gb version under the Specifications.
Has anybody been able to actually CONFIRM this? Everyone I talk to denies knowledge if it even existing and Samsung haven't responded.
A 16Gb Omnia 7 is the only phone I'd consider getting now otherwise I'll just continue to wait.
According to this...

The Samsung Focus is expandable to 40GB, i.e. it has a slot and you can use a 32GB card. Bonza!

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately the Focus is US-only and isn't available here in the UK (for some unknown reason). 40Gb sure does sound good compared to the majority 8Gb models available in the UK :/
Just been down to the O2 shop this morning. Had a look under the battery and no SD card slot
However there is a plastic label so maybe there is on under there? We'll not know untill someone disassembles but so far it looks unlikely.
As MS is been tight lipped about WP7 until now, I was surprised... but expandable memory should not be an issue as MS wants the users to use the phone as Zune and play games...
I can’t see a reason to restrict ppl from expanding the memory....
honestly 16GB will be fine for me as i keep my music and videos on my 60GB touch... its almost full.. so i can never ***** about not enough memory on my phone..
I really cannot understand why OEM's created this frustration with the amount of the internal memory. At least they are using a soldered microSD cards so all of us know how much the difference between 8 and 16 GB costs. Even the iPhone 4, as typical overpriced Apple product, has £500 price tag and 16 GB internal memory. For comparison Omnia 7 has the same preorder price and the miserable 8 GB.
How they imagine competing with all of the marvellous Android phones that are coming and even with the iPhone? Or they just experimenting with the new platform...

I have noticed this with Samsung time and time again, They place a great screen on this phone then use a poor camera, and skimp on memory. But still want top dollar for there product.
I understand the sound quality is poor compared to HTC phones as well.
It is a huge over-site not having a larger capacity for the memory, The manufactures are to blame here where are the 32 GB and 64 GB versions.
It almost feels as if the manufactures want this product to fail.
I hope they bring larger sizes soon.

Nexus 7 vs Galaxy S2?

HSN has the Samsung Galaxy S2 on sale today for $199.
I got one for my daughter to do Lycamobile on (I know I have to unlock it) but I'm torn and thinking of selling my Nexus and getting one as well.
It seems to have a better camera and most importantly takes SD cards!
Why would or would I not want to do this?
Also the GS2 makes call, the nexus 7 does not.. It is not really possible to compare a tablet to a phone they are for very different usecases.
In case you are considering exchanging a GN for a GS2, I wouldn't even consider it. Not without a rather sizeable cash amount going my way. But we have different preferences, and if the camera means a lot to you it may be worth considering. As for the sd-card, I never enjoyed the sd-card space on my previous phone since my apps just filled the internal memory anyway, and I find having everything on an internal memory is easier to manage, but again if you use your camera a lot the extra space for pictures may be worth considering.

How you justify not getting the 32gb for $40 more

as the tittle says how can you get the 16GB knowing the 32GB is just $40 more I know a lot of people don't need the extra space bla bla bla but at the end of the day the 32GB is the best deal

I went with the 32, I was actually running out of space on the 16 and as you pointed out the price diff being so minimal, why not.
The cloud =þ, I don't use a lot of internal space, and I rather have a lot of my documents sync through out my other devices. $40 can still be a lot for some, but I'm glad they aren't charging $75+ like on other devices. Kind of wish they had expansion slots just in case you needed the extra space.
Because with that $40 savings I bought a Chromecast and still had $5 for a milkshake
well you could plug a 32GB SD card for less than that........ owh wait you can't!!!!
I just never needed it on my last one. I only load up videos when i know I'm going to need them. even on my last trip, with 6 HD movies i still had 2GB free.
I'm not a big tablet gamer though....and that extra cash will come in handy for other, more important things in my life....like a chromecast...or you know, baby food or something
IMO you only need the space for music and videos.
My kids, I keep with tablets with MicroSD - so I can slap a bunch of video/TV on there for trips and stuff.
Me, I don't need the space because I don't watch movies or TV on it, and music goes on my phone. I'd rather read wherever I'm at.
I use it for browsing / email / DOS and console emulation and the occasional pdf. I read on my e-ink nook. I watch movies and TV on my plasma/HT setup. 16GB is plenty enough.
I don't game on them either - I have only minor interest in the occasional tablet game. If I game it's DOS emulation, NES, SNES, or something like that. 16GB is plenty of room for that stuff.

This exactly.
I have a OTG cable that I used on my Nexus 7 when I was going on trips for movies.
Because the only ones I could find available today (in Austin) were at Bestbuy and they were only selling the 16 G and I wanted mine NOWWWW!!

what he said, I scored both as well.
Because I never filled up the 16GB on my S3 and $40 is a decent amount of money. With most media apps using the cloud now, the only thing I'd use space for is the apps I download and any pictures/videos I take, and I can't see using the Nexus 7 for its (inferior) camera when I always have my phone with me.
All my apps just got downloaded when I signed in to my Google account, the phone shows 11.94GB total usable, I have 10.84GB available. I'm just over 1GB, after I sync some music and put some eBooks on it, I'll still probably have over half the space free.
they say the N7 has 9 hours of HD video play back battery life. I better have enough storage for 9 hours of HD contents. So I went with 32gb.

Fellow Austinite here. I can confirm that this is true and I have to go all the way to Bee Caves to pick mine up.
I got the 32gb, but yeah I read somewhere that the difference that it costs companies to make thier tablet a 32gb instead of a 16gb is $4.00 for them. So there you go.
Even better, not $40 - try 15. Pick it up from best buy on amex with the current amex sync offer and the 16gb won't make the cut of $250 for the $25 back (unless you live in CA) but the 32gb does. Makes the choice simple.
Then add on the staples coupon and BAM!
I just use mine to stream so Im good. 16GB all the way
OTG is all I need !
I have some many flash devices besides MicroSDs.
The adapter doesn't bother me 1 bit. Rather I prefer it (as a reminder to put away my data).
I have the TF101 (w/microSD) and I forget the card in there all the times.
Now all my microSDs are in the USB-adapter --> harder to get lost.
Because I have a 64G microsd in my Droid Razr, a 32G in my Samsung Note 10.1 and a 64G on my keychain. Plus a dozen others of various sizes.
Once I get my OTG cable for the Nexus 7, I will be able to swap 224G between my devices. (no, its not a math error. That $40 is going to pay for most of the $48 that the new 64G Sandisk costs on Amazon. (for the OTG dongle)

Eh OTG is not nearly as reliable and easy to use as internal storage especially if you travel much out use your tab on the go.

Nexus 5 vs GS3 + Zerolemon + 32GB MicroSD

I currently have a GS3 with a 7000mah Zero lemon battery (3-4 days battery) and a 32gb micro sd card giving me a total of 48gb storage (incl 16gb internal memory).
I feel really compelled to sell my GS3 and buy the 16gb Nexus 5 once it's in stock once again. I won't spend much extra buying the nexus since the GS3 sells for around $300-$350.
I need your opinion haha...am I affected by commercialism? It is a worthy upgrade since I won't really be spending money on it? Or should I ride this one out and maybe wait for the nexus 6....although the value of gs3 would drop severely by then.
Thanks

Everyone to a point is affected by commercialism. Google and Nestle did a great job marketing, they stood quiet about the device until the very end and released a huge update.
1. It's worth getting if you want to get away from Touchwiz and into 4.4 AOSP.
2. If space doesn't matter too much, Nexus 5 is a good choice. Use cloud storage to back up your things!
3. It's a worthy upgrade because of the CPU at least, 2.3 GHz. However, camera is the same. It has a slightly bigger screen with 1080p display.
4. It's cheap brand new.
5. It's unlocked already.
If you're looking at the Nexus 5, don't look back, it's a good device!
There is a sticky for other device discussions and upgrading

Nexus 5X storage

I have had my 16gb nexus 5x for about 3 months now and i was wondering if it was worth getting the 16gb option? i bought my device off amazon and the total cost of the device was $2700TT and the 32gb version was about $3300TT ($100 US more as compared to the 16gb! using my exchange rate ($6TT=$1US)) of course this includes all the shipping and handling to my country (as this device is NOT available in my country, only way to get it was to import it) and due to living in Trinidad...in the Caribbean........ as i did not want to shell out the extra $600 (because i did not have it ) i settled for the 16gb model. It has become apparent... 3 months after that the 32gb option would have been the better choice and i should have saved a bit more as 10gb (yes the 16gb is only 10gb usable) seems rather unusable in my case. I have done research on the device and knowingly bought the 16gb version *facepalm* .
I just want to know, is the 16gb version popular among the community? and do any of you regret your decision of getting the 16gb instead of the 32gb?
I know it's a useless question and all but I'm just curious, I want to know if other people have had similar thoughts as me.
Thanks.
Take advantage of streaming services and Google Photos backup to free up space on local storage. You can also try clearing your storage cache as it tends to build up a lot over time Settings > Storage > cached data then reboot.

I don't know about the popularity in this community but in my hometown, almost every 5X is 16 gbs, as people buy it as a budget phone, they try to cut down the price for the less storage.
I am also kind of regretting this 16 gb phone. The fact that it doesn't has expandable storage, making backups are pain in the ***. I can keep multiple Roms zips in my phone. I can hardly pull any nandroid backup.
On the other hand, if I don't mod my phone, I can live with it. I remember that there is a law (or phenomenon) that whatever the storage size you'll get, your data will always expand and fill it up. Aand I've experienced and witnessed it enough to believe it.
The only solution I've discovered is either using cloud services and cutting down my data. And I was also thinking of getting a usb type c flash drive (as I'm upgrading my laptop too). So I'll get expandable storage on the go and can pull backups on it.
