Hard reset

Hey guys....it`s been awhile.
i`m trying to reset my Dash to factory settings to sell.I`ve tried both ways. hold soft keys, press power button for 1-2 seconds,i get the white letterings saying personal data will be lost, and will reset to manufacturer default.press send to restore manufacturer default.it goes thru its thing....(preparing your device, please wait.....) it goes thru cold boot config. when it restarts, it`s back to 3vo series rom.i`ve done the start/accessories/clear storage/1234/yes.
still same thing........weird....does the sim card need to be in phone to hard reset?
the hard reset does not remove the installed rom just the data to but it back to the default rom you must reflash said rom. the standard roms are in the wiki i think but sont qupte me. failing that they should be around on the forum somewhere so search and you'll find them. hope this helps
Stock ROMs in F.A.Q as paradox1985 states a hard-reset will only take you back to the base of flashed ROM not all the way back to stock.
Excellent .....thanks for your help.

[Q] LG G3 not working at all after root

Hey guys I really need your help with something! I recently rooted my LG G3 using stump and downloaded an application that needed to restart my phone so I did and now when i try to turn my phone on all I see is the LG load screen but nothing will happen after that. The LED continues to flash at the load screen, but it wont go anywhere. Also, I have tried to wipe cache, factory reset, and apply updates in the recovery area but nothing seems to work. I have also tried doing a factory data reset but like everything else i can only make it to the load screen. This is the first device i have ever rooted so I am very new at this but I really need some help!
Sounds like the app did something malicious. What app?
I would like to make a suggestion for you and for other noobs planning to root and mod their devices.
Firstly every single person whom ever tweaked their device flashed custom ROMs, Kernels etc either has or will need some help at some point.
The most valuable point that I can stress is this, before you root, find out how to undo it and how to fix or troubleshoot different senarios.
If you see the LG animation then this means you have any number of ways to fix the issue(you're not doomed), check the tutorials, do some reading and search its all here, you managed to find out how to root etc so now do a little more to find out how to fix, good luck.
Can you enter download mode?

Phone update question

Hi all,
I regularly wipe my Android phone (for new roms), and everytime I have to factory reset my watch to get to Pair to it again.
Is there a way to do this without a factory reset?
Cheers

When I upgrade Roms on my phone I flash everything using fastboot except the userdata partition (userdata.img) and I've never had to re-pair my phone and watch. The only time I flash userdata is whaen upgrading from one major version to another (such as 5.x.x to 6.x.x). Even when I do that I can restore pretty much all of the settings by restoring my phone apps from Titanium Backup and resyncing the watch.

That doesn't help unfortunately... When I flash a new rom (or even just factory reset phone), watch no longer pairs unless I also factory reset watch. Cannot sync apps without connection
I've had the 360 since original release date, and 3 or 4 different mobile devices, always had this issue.

Want to securely wipe a phone I bought online...is flashing factory ROM enough?

So, I'm paranoid. I am buying a used phone online, and want to make sure nothing devious has been installed on it to hack my data, keylog me, etc.
As I understand, even a hard reset from recovery screen will NOT wipe out specialized hacks that might invade the OS/kernel...and that only flashing a factory ROM will guarantee a clean phone.
So, I was wondering,
(a) to flash a factory ROM, is all you have to do is download the appropriate ROM for your phone (in my case, the HTC M8 from HTCs official ROM download page), plug phone in, run the exe, and enjoy? Or is there some other intermediate step?
(b) Also, is there a (significant) chance of bricking it just by flashing that ROM (with good USB cable, full battery, etc)?
Thanks all!
on xda there is a lot of smartphone supported, uses the search function

How can I Factory Reset while rooted without bricking

So I stupidly tried to upgrade to the Pixel 4 Launcher before the official Dec update came and even after trying to uninstall/reinstall the .apk and downgrade etc, I still can't get the launcher to be remotely usable without the error popups if I have gestures on. So I am resorting to factory resetting and just starting from scratch.
I feel extremely dumb asking this as I've been rooting/customizing my phones since the G1, but about 6 months ago I had to send in a phone for RMA and when I factory reset it, wiped the OS and the bootloader was locked, so I am making sure I don't do that this time as I'm now out of warranty.
What is the process of factory resetting when I am rooted with Magisk and have the bootloader unlocked? I don't have a custom rom, just stock Android and I do not have TWRP installed. I feel like it's as simple as just going into Settings and hitting Factory Reset in Reset Options, but I can't remember if I did that or something else when I bricked the RMA phone and want to make sure.
Again, sorry for the completely stupid question, just trying to cover the bases. Thanks in advance!

It's like you said, go to settings and factory reset. Or, go to stock recovery and do it from there :good:
